Could we maybe get a Part II video where you two compile what YOU think are the most challenging steps?🤗
Thanks for watching! Yes, we will definitely consider a Part II to this video Stay tuned! 😊
@@balletreign I 2nd the comment above! Would be interesting to see your take
HAHA I found it. Sorry just discovering your channel now and going through all the vids.
Welcome to the channel! Glad you found it and catching up on the ballet nerd content :) 💗
As a non-dancer, I can’t imagine being able to go like, “Hey leg - I need you to boop up next to my head while I stand here” and then it just happens. Defo magic.
Hahaha yes, ballet really is magical when you step back and see how effortless and beautiful the dancers make everything look! Makes us appreciate the art so much more when you see it with understanding 😊
As an adult beginner, all the ballet steps are HARD! 🤣 But I'm still working on them. 🙂
You’re absolutely right on that 😂. Keep up the hard work! It will always pay off
Yeah, I think for beginners, they’d be the hardest steps. If that’s the angle ms mojo wanted to go, they needed to specify that. I hope you’re improving. They do sound hard.
Listen and move to the music, Love what you're doing, and Don't be so hard on yourself...just Dance!!!🩰💖🩰
Also, just be aware that if you are doing doing the move correctly, ALL of the ballet steps ever are super difficult.
The sigh in unison at arabesque really got me...as an uncoordinated non-dancer, your explanations of your craft are so great! I'm among the people who'd love to see your top 10 hardest list, and I've subscribed so I don't miss it if you do it. Thanks for the video! 🩰
Edit: Maybe the MsMojo video was meant to be 'top 10 ballet moves we've heard of'...come on, tell us about the ones whose names we don't know because ballet dancers whisper them in horror, hoping the step won't hear them and show up in their next performance...
Thank you so much 😊 You’re so welcome, thanks for subscribing! We will definitely consider a follow up video for our Top 10 hardest list :)
Hahaha 🤣 “the ones dancers whisper in horror…”
Agree, I want to see the dancers list!!!
Yes, do your own list!
gargouillade....
@@uduckshhh dont let it hear you
I’ve watched this (Ms Mojo video) a long time ago. The moment arabesque was included here over a huge number of more difficult ballet steps I knew that it wouldn’t be long before a reaction video is going to be made by advanced to professional ballet dancers.
There we have it. Thank you girls for proving that I wasn’t being a non-ballet dancer know it all.
You’re welcome! Hope it was informative. Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed the video!
I have TwoSet Violin for my music criticism, you guys are a strong contender with just this video for ballet. Can't wait to watch more
Wow thank you so much 🙏 Thanks for watching and sharing. Glad ur here!
A LING LING WANNA BE OMG I FOUND ANOTHER OF US I"M SO HAPPY NOW
@@awanna-bechristine9324 Yess. Not a musician, but definitely a fan of TwoSet here.
Another TwoSet Violin fan here too❣️
Glad to have you here! ❤️ You TwoSetters are everywhere 😅
1 adagio
2 fouetté
3 switch leaps of any kind
4 the memorization of frappe
5 gargouillade
and the rest that i find difficult are due to the fact that i’m a first year ballet dancer with little experience previously, just a fast learner, and also due to my technique work i have to make up for lol
This is a great list! Thanks for sharing Working hard and picking up things quick gives you such an advantage :) Keep it up, and remember that your brain plays a huge role when it comes to technique 👍🏻
Don't forget to add the brisé to that list 😅 they're sooo hard to do properly
Anything on my left side ✋🏻
Hahaha yes definitely! 😂
I actually appreciate that Ms Mojo put things that aren’t “hard” in the eyes of actual dancers. It may not be correct, but as a non dancer, I am super impressed by steps that you guys would consider easy or fundamental! Such talent
Thanks for sharing ur pov! Non-dancers are always welcome here ☺️ 🙌🏻✨
You ladies banging your heads to Swan Lake made me giggle, because I've done that before. Dancers really are a different breed. Also, I 100% agree about arabesque. There are different levels, and it can range from very basic, to challenging, but I would never put it on a list of "the hardest ballet moves".
Love this comment, yes, always welcome here! Glad to know others do this too and feel the same way about classical music and ballet 😂
I feel like the name of this list should have been "most impressive" instead of most difficult, because that's clearly what they based it on, their opinion of what looks hard instead of what actually is hard. Grande Jete looks harder than jete battu but the latter would be harder for most dancers to master. Loved your video!
Thank you so much for watching, glad you enjoyed the video! We agree, that’s a fair way to look at it. All of ballet is hard, just a matter of perspective :)
The things you ladies were saying was just like the stuff I was muttering to myself when I first watched their video a month or so ago! Ballet dancers/teachers get it 😂
Adagio is the hardest to master. It is pure strenth of very specific muscles, you can’t be good at this without really giving all yourself into practicing. nice video!❤
Very well said, we couldn’t agree more... Giving yourself to your craft and being diligent to practicing 💯 Thank you so much for watching ❤️
I'm not even sure why this wound up on my recommended, but I watched the whole vid and couldn't leave without dropping praise for your excellent pacing, commentary, and the great way you two play off of each other. I subscribed and wish you luck, along with the success you deserve! Thanks for making ballet accessible to all in such a fun way!
Love this, glad you found us! 😊 Thank you for the kind words. We are happy to make ballet accessible to everyone in a fun way. Welcome to the channel! ❤️
Literally reacted and said the exact same thing as they were being listed! Adage is just death to me! Grand allegro and pirouettes are always my favourites
Haha 😂 Yes! Thank you for watching and sharing
The word, "stern" is not in your vocabularies. You two are so 2023. It's fun to talk casually about a life choice involving such focused discipline. It's like risque, and a refreshing moment. Thanks ladies.
Hahha Love this, thank u! Appreciate you watching and for the kind comments. We love sharing what we love with y’all! 🩰
"Moves", vs "STEPS" in ballet: To me and some picky others ,it is equivalent to using the word "ballerina" to describe any ballet student of any skill level...age 6 and up!
I love the kindness each of you dancers and non-dancers are showing to each other. I also love the free exchange of ideas for improving your craft.
Thanks for watching and glad to have you! It’s wonderful to see the kindness and ideas shared as here. Appreciate your comment and feedback ❤️
I haven't taken a ballet class in 15 years, but I still had the same thoughts as you did when I watched this video!
Yay! Glad you’re here and thanks for watching 😊
I feel like they're definitely just listing the most common dance moves, like they came to watch my little's ballet class and these are some things we did
Yes, definitely some very basic ballet steps 🩰. Glad you get to share ballet with your little one!
Not a dancer but just a ballet aficionado, and I think the two of you are absolutely adorable. Thank you for your delightful videos.
Welcome, glad to have you here! 😊Thank you for watching and for your kind comments. Happy to hear you are enjoying the videos! ❤️
Love you both! As a former dancer and now “ballet nerd,” I appreciate your knowledge & astute commentary. Love the sighs & sidenotes too!! 😂
Is it just me or are pique turns way easier than pirouettes? 😅
As an adult returning to ballet after 15 years (I'm in the beginner level now), these are my hardest steps:
1) Pirouette (turns scare me)
2) Rond de jambe en l'air
3) Grand battement (especially to the side - ouch)
Half of my problem at this point is just strength lol.
Do you do grande plíes every day? It really helps with that leg strength
Not just you, pique turns are definitely easier :) Thanks for sharing your list!
💯 agree, grand plies will help a lot!
@@desertrose3511 That's a great idea and definitely something I can incorporate. Thanks!
Yes
I would love to see a professional dancer's hardest moves list!. I agree that adagio is really hard - the bain of my ballet existence when I was young and trained. Unfortunately, some Russian instructor I had in my NYC school shot me down by telling me my "chest was too large to be a dancer. it throws off my proportion and balance and that I would Never be a professional dancer"! This was after 13 years of training! This was in the era of George Balanchine and his muse Suzanne Farrell of the flat and bony chest! Then came Gelsey Kirkland! I stopped dancing ballet, but realized later I should have taken up some jazz and modern and tap to try to be a dancer on Broadway (I sing and play instruments as well). I did continue classes a few years later for my own pleasure, until I became pregnant. In those days dancing while pregnant was not looked well upon. Now, many many years later, I watch a lot of ballet on UA-cam. I'm so happy to have discovered your channel! (subscribed!!!) Thank you for this video. The dancers in it are just beautiful!
Welcome! Glad to have you here! Definitely stay tuned, we hope to have a dancers hardest moves list! Also, there are unfortunately many strict body requirements that parts of the ballet world still religiously holds to, which have stopped many from pursuing this art-form. We hope this channel helps to make ballet more accessible to everyone 😊
Glad to hear ballet is still a big part of you ♥️ I hope you will continue dancing!
Watch the ABT Swan Lake videos they show here of Gillian Murphy. She has a very busty silhouette and has a gorgeous hourglass figure. They must really strap her chest underneath those costumes because nothing moves. But she does those 32 fouttes perfectly. I'm sorry you had such a jerk derail your career.
Me still trying to master single pirouettes and there’s people out there doing fouettés like that…
Also how are grand jetes listed as the top 10? That is one of like the first things five year olds taking ballet learn
Haha, yes 💯 agree with you there on grand jeté being first things we teach to the young dancers 🤣.
Once you master the pirouette, the fouettés will come much easier. Keep working at it and don’t give up :)
The end of Act II. No. 13. Dances of the Swans is *hands down* one of the best parts of the ballet. Thank you for bringing this up. I re-listen to it so often.
Thanks for watching, so glad you think so too! 😅🙌🏻
I had watched the original video a while ago and was shaking my head the entire time! When I saw that there was a reaction video by dancers, automatically had to watch it 😄 I agree with everything you 2 said!
Personally, I struggle with Russian(switch) leaps, limbering up in general, and I’ve always hated Adagio. But I LOVE Allegro (grande or petite) 😄
Haha, thanks so much, we knew we weren’t the only ones! Switch leaps are HARD and so is adagio, but you have a friend in us when it comes to allegro 🐇😆
We used the barrel-turn term when we did them in jazz. Sometimes leading leg was also in attitude
The arabesque one kind of killed my soul ngl
Thanks for watching with us! 😂
when i was still dancing, i always found pique easier than pirouette. even doubles. "once lost it's hard to get back"... pique is quite possibly the easiest step to get back up on like ???
Hahah yes, there are harder steps 😊 Thank you for watching!
When I first started watching ballet I thought that bourée must be really difficult because it looks so magical!
1. Getting out of bed in the morning to start rehearsal.
Hahhha I’m sure that hits close to home for most of us some days 😂
When I watched the original video, I had similar reactions and I took dance for recreational purposes (1 class/ week, 2 when I got older).
Thanks for watching! Glad you had a chance to take dance for recreation 😊
Love you guys!! Love the content, you guys make it so fun and entertaining. Good professional ballet channels are so rare on UA-cam
Thank you so much!! ❤️ ❤️❤️
I love the respect ms mojo shows for ballet, . ... because i love people who are respectfull, girls.
I actually agree with arabesque being on the list. I’m not a professional ballet dancer but I trained in it for years, majored in dance, and now teach ballet and I still struggle with my arabesque line. It just feels so unnatural to my body and my turnout isn’t great so I have to focus so hard just to get it to look halfway decent… pique turns are defo easier than pirouettes though.
Welcome and glad to hear you are teaching ballet 🩰. Yes, arasbesque can be difficult when turn out is not natural -it definitely takes more effort to obtain those beautiful lines 😊
Love the girls! Keep it going, you should do a video of your top 10 hardest ballet steps
Thank you so much, we will! Great idea... expect to see that in an upcoming video!? 😉
@@balletreign I second that , do that and You will earn couple of subscribers
Will do, thank you for supporting the channel! 🙏
They needed to have sissones in there!
That’s a great one! Those are difficult to coordinate, especially sissone en arrière (traveling backwards).
I love that y’all make ms mojo sound like one human
Hahah thank you 😂
I learned piqué turns in my ballet101 class in uni. Im not at all a dancer, just took it for fun. Our instructor wanted us to do pique turns across the room and then do a leap at the end. First time I did it, I leaped backwards lol. But I remember being maybe only one of two students who lost place during practice (we were the only 2 students who were not dance majors). Everyone with dance experience picked it up pretty quickly and it was easy for a non dancer once you got the hang of it.
I think ms mojo probably just looked up a list of ballet steps and then listed them in order of whichever looked harder. It would have been nice if they fact checked with an actual dancer though. Just making up stuff cheapens the quality of the channel
Thanks for sharing your experience. Glad you had opportunity to take some ballet in uni. Ballet at any age for enjoyment is highly recommended :) Keep dancing for fun!
Piqué turns are easy and beginner, but idk, I’ve always had a significantly longer stride than my peers, so learning to NOT travel so far in one turn while staying on the correct angle and making it look exactly the same as the girl in front who was a foot shorter and 50lbs lighter and needed 2x the turns to cross the stage was what made them difficult and complicated.
That’s a really great point you brought up, the length of your stride compared to dancers beside you is important. It plays a big role in difficulty level in terms of having to adjust so to make everything look uniform with the other dancers
Aww! That's always been one of my favorite parts of Swan Lake too. :D Love your genuine (and spot-on) reactions to MSMOJO's list, but also the emphasis on kind commenting. As someone who trained in ballet (and various other dance forms) from early childhood to my mid-twenties, I'm mostly in agreement with what's already been mentioned, including the fact that ALL the steps are hard! I mean when you think about it, ballet basically requires the active engagement of like, all your muscles just to stand still correctly. (The main exception on the list for me for some reason - well, I guess probably because I became obsessed with them at an early age and began regularly attempting them in my parents' living room - is rond de jambe fouettés en tournant. Once I got the coordination down, they sort of became... "my jam" or whatever, lol).
So then, the hardest steps in my book (though not necessarily in order, and not including any partnered "moves") would be:
Adagio in general, but particularly:
1. promenade in à la second
2. grand rond de jambe en l'air
3. arabesque penché
4. pirouette from grand plié in fifth position and ending in an extended position
5. Italian fouettés (could never quite get around far enough to execute them without a bunch of hoppity-doo-dah)
6. one-footed hops en pointe (damn these beautiful feet! How does Natalia Osipova do it???)
7. pas de bourrée couru en avant (one of those steps that's not super technically complicated, but that I could never manage to do without looking incredibly awkward)
8. consecutive turns on one foot in arabesque or attitude
9. flic-flac en tournant (you know you're not mastering the step if you have to grab the barre so hard that it makes an audible KACHUNGGK! sound when you do it)
10. petit battement (another "simple" step that isn't)
11. ALL THE STEPS!!!
Also, I'm all washed up now but miss ballet class terribly, so thank you to all the "beginners" commenting! You are an inspiration, because if you can start from scratch, I can surely start again!
Love this ❤️ Yay! So glad to appreciate ballet with you all. Thank you for your thoughtful and generous feedback and letting us know you enjoyed the video. 🙏
Thanks for your sharing your top ten list, made us smile 😊 Yes, adult beginners are inspiring and hope you start again too! Glad you’re here!
I'd love to have the Ms. Mojo react to reviewers like you guys for real-world/professional stuff like this, because they are clearly not doing enough research from legitimate sources to produce accurate information for their viewers. Then again, as a non-dancer who is obsessed with watching dancers, I'm amazed at just about anything a dancer does, so I guess I get it, lol. I'm glad I stumbled upon your channel!
Thank you so much, we’re glad you stumbled upon this channel. Welcome and thank you for watching and supporting. ❤️ Yes, both videos give a balanced perspective and glad you enjoyed it!
I've watched that video before and instantly thought it had to be a non dancer who made that list. A lot of the steps they were showing, we were taught in like level 2 of ballet. I started ballet back in 1999 and had a Russian ballet mistress.
You are fortunate to have Russian ballet training- they are known to raise dancers of very high caliber 👍🏻
@@balletreign unfortunately I had to stop in 2006 right before YAGP and recently got back into ballet back in 2021. This style is a lot different from what I was taught because at the studio I dance at now they are taught Balanchine which took a bit to adapt to.
You are so right, difficult to listen if non prof. dancers explain you your job. To my opinion difficulties depend on your personal “talents”, and what is difficult for one might be easy for somebody else. Personally, being a professional dancer I hated attitude pirouettes more than fouettés. One of the most difficult things I saw was Italian fouettés with change of direction.
We are with you on this one! Italian Fouettés are so hard. A lot of dancers find it challenging esp at end of variation when you are already tired lol
@@balletreign But they’re so gorgeous! I just love watching them, and am always wishing the dancers would perform just one more!
To think of what that little gal had to go through in order to perform with the skill she exhibits. Kudos.
You guys should make a top ten list about what actually are the hardest ballet steps
It’s definitely been highly requested, so keep an eye out for it in a future vid??Thanks so much! 🙌🏻
@@balletreigncan’t wait!
Grabbin my coffee for this one! My ballet years ended over 30 years ago. And my first reaction was “whats changed??? These are basics!!” 😂
Now- all of them would be hard for me now lol
LOL Thanks for watching! Glad ballet is still a part of you :)
I haven't taken ballet since I was a wee tiny child, but I watch a lot of Ms Mojo (it's very easy on the brain when you just want to veg, basically) and while I missed that particular video, I very much enjoyed your reactions to it. I always appreciate a channel with a mix of education, entertainment, and most importantly, kindness.
Some of the clips shown were from Center Stage, which is also one of my favorite dance-related movies. I'd love to see you two reacting to the full film with a bit of explanation from the technical side as well as some kind-hearted critique of the performances. :D
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words ❤️ Welcome to the channel and appreciate your suggestions! Glad to have you here 😊
I've never done ballet, but enjoyed this! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
You're so welcome! We’re glad we can share and make ballet accessible to everyone who wants to learn.
Thanks for watching!
As a dancer ;-)....not everybody is able to even remotely reach a split that will look good in grand jeté. I for example have a very narrow hip socket so I can't stretch in that position at all (trying to do it would damage the joint) - so also no penché for me...but I can quadruple turn and fouetté and have a completely flat turnout. For everyone that will never be able to reach a full split: You're still worthy to call yourself a dancer!
Love this. Absolutely 💯!! Thanks for sharing that perspective and always focus on your strengths, not your weaknesses. Appreciate your bringing this up as it will inspire other dancers 💝
We called them tour jete en tournant - and my skirt never got in the way - of this or anything else. Ballet skirts are designed for large ranges and turns - as with the penche you just saw where the leg went vertical - she's in a skirt. But gotta choose the battles, lol.
Ballet it like ice skating with point shoes on
Great comparison! Both are beautiful art forms ❤️
Gargouillade is by far the hardest for me. Should have been on the list for sure.
Yes, definitely! Thanks for watching and sharing one of your hardest ballet steps.
This needs more attention and likes!! ❤
Thank you, that’s so kind ♥️ We appreciate you watching and sharing! ☺️
Wow! You two are so great as educators!!! And you’re adorable!
You are so kind, appreciate your feedback ;) Thank you so so much ☺️ Glad you’re here!
Arabesque. When I learnt it in under 8's jazz Esteidfodds. 🙃
I know nothing about ballet but I had so much fun watching you two. You have a great presence and did a good job explaining things ,.. I agree, I'd love to see what you think is difficult and I'd love to see you dance as well! :)
Aww so glad you can enjoy ballet with us! We appreciate your kind words ❤️. We did make a video on our personal hardest ballet steps on our channel, so feel free to watch that next! 😄
as a ballet teacher… my 4 y/o’s are learning arabesque’s currently 🤣
edit: and also grand jete’s 😭 oh msmojo
Ours too! Lol 😂 Thanks for watching!
Grand jete is done in a lot of sports
As a Ice Skater who did minimal ballet I watched this Ms Mojo video thinking I would learn something, and I was so disappointed as even I knew most of the steps. Thanks for making this video to give prospective!
You're so welcome! We have ice skaters here yay! Glad it was helpful and that watching both videos can give a balanced perspective.
So now you guys should make a top 10 hardest Ballet steps.
A few years ago a K-pop group came out with some choreography that had two members pop up and hit double tours. They were rough because neither were ballet dancer’s previously, but it was fantastic and I won’t lie I was geeking out about it. And it seemed like no one else cared lol. I was alone it my excitement.
You are definitely not alone here 😂We are with you in that one! Thanks for watching and yes, we will definitely consider sharing our top ten hardest ballet steps 🩰
What group was it?
Another great episode, thank you ladies!
Thank you!! 😄💕
Loved knowing advanced dancers thoughts. MsMojo fills the easily digestible listicle need in my brain. But I love knowing the critiques on it. This video of their's felt particularly under researched. So if you release a top ten list I'd love to watch.
Thanks for watching and we definitely agree, both videos give a balanced perspective. Yes, we'd love to consider our top ten list :)
It's my favorite part of swan lake too !

Yah! Welcome to the channel! Thank you so much, we appreciate you watching ❤️🩰
I was a ballerina for sixteen years and I definitely agree with your commentary. 💗
Thank you and glad you’re here! Once a ballerina, always a ballerina at heart ❤️
I’m a musical theatre performer and have similar reactions to those Ms Mojo videos 😅 definitely wouldn’t consider myself dancer and I kept thinking “if I can do that then it shouldn’t be on this list” frappés on the other hand can burn in hell!
Haha so glad you could relate!
I was going to actually riot if Italian fouettes weren't on the list so at least they got that right
Haha, yes Italian fouettés are no joke! We were glad they got that one
Having grown up in and around a dance studio, I shared some of your incredulous looks at some of the choices in the video. I think the perspective though is from the outside person who doesn’t do this which makes some even basic ballet moves seem hard and magical as they haven’t been doing the basics since they were two in some cases.
Thanks for watching and sharing! Yes, definitely agree. Both videos together give a balanced look from non dancers to dancers perspective, informative and entertaining, great starting point for open discussion 😊
I’m… not a ballet dancer. Im in my schools winterguard. And I do many of these (like arabesque and pirouette) in my routine. So like… how can it be difficult if I, someone with no previous dance experience, can do them (though def at an easier level)
Yes, glad to hear you also do some of these steps in your routine. They are common fundamentals ballet steps. There are definitely harder ones from dancers perspective, thank you for sharing 😊
they kept showing videos of tour jetes when they were talking about cabrioles😭
Thanks for watching, yes, there were a few 😂
With a different title, that MsMojo video could have been just fine. How about 'Top 10 common ballet steps that prove just how hard ballet is'? :D
Yes, absolutely! The video was informative and entertaining, thanks for watching 😊
Once, when I was a ballet student, our teacher asked some of the students in the advanced class to choreograph their own variations as entertainment for the ballet board meeting. Grand allegro was always my favorite, so I chose a male variation for the music (I’m female). Towards the end of it, I gave myself a *rest* by doing a manège of piqué turns. I was surprised that the audience started applauding about halfway through it. I thought to myself, “I did all that other stuff, and you’re applauding for this?!” 😄 By the way, I agree with you on every point. And the most difficult general category for me was always adagio.
Thank you for watching. Soooo true! Sometimes there are more basic ballet steps that just look so impressive 😊 Glad you added that “rest” of pique turns :)
As a former professional I can give you the story on that - we used to say; "if you do more than 4 in a row, they'll applaud! It doesn't matter what - just do more than 4!" The frustrating part was that you might actually do something difficult and it goes unnoticed - but you start repeating and off they go!
Dude.... I've been doing jazz for literally one month and we're already learning arabesque.
This was great. You made me laugh. Brilliant work girls And I did subscribe
Such kind words, thank you! Laughter is good medicine :) Welcome to the fam! 🤍
I did very non-competitive ballet as child/teen (45-60 min a week during the school year) and I could quite of few of these still in my mid-30s.
Thanks for sharing your experience and glad you had a chance to do some ballet! Yes some of these steps are basic and fundamental for dancers, but it looks hard to most :)
I've done ballet since i was 3, so 22 years now. This is a very interesting list 😂 it isn't very accurate msmojo
Hi 👋 Always glad to welcome another seasoned dancer here watching with us! Definitely MsMojo’s list is meant for non dancers to be familiar with some common ballet steps that look pretty impressive 😊
It's also inaccurate to say the top leg stays. It's actually supposed to raise further after the beat, most times, depending on the choreo.
Yes! Definitely agree with this one ☝️
Each of my students struggle with different things. Looking at from my days as a dancer........
I started learning ballet 4 months ago at the age of 38. Here's my list of 5 hardest ballet moves:
1. plie in 1st
2. plie in 3rd
3. plie in 5th
4. plie in 4th
5. 540 jump
Funny thing is I can actually do some of the steps on the list in the video relatively well.
1.I can do a single cabriole (still working on the double)
2. I'm ok at arabesque (just can't go above about 85 degrees)
3. I can consistently do double pirouettes and triple about 50% of the time without falling out
4. piques are easy and I can do an infinite number of these
5.penche I have no chance
6. tour de reins I can do relatively well
7.grand jete I have good height but the splits is still not there and my back leg is still a little bent
8. never heard of nor tried the italian fouette
9. never heard of grand adage, and still not sure what it is even after watching the video
10. I can do about 6 fouettes currently with my left as the working leg, and about 3 with my right. Still working on this one too.
Wow! Sounds like you’re doing well in your training especially for having only taken ballet for 4 months. There’s a ballet saying that goes, “the plié is the first thing you learn and the last thing to master”. Thanks for sharing your list. Keep it up!
hi! grand adage is basically the generalization of very slow, yet big movements. like extensions and port de bras and other big movements but veeery slow.
@@pxndora.4720 I guess that makes sense. Adagio means slow and grand means big, so big & slow makes sense.
Ms. Mojo is like the 5 Minutes Creates of the Top 10 lists. Not surprised she didn't quite nail it lol
I haven't taken ballet for decades but I was quite disappointed at the MsMojo video for misinforming folks with no training....so glad to see your rebuttle!
You’re welcome! Once you’ve taken ballet it’s always stays with you. Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed the video!
This video was very interesting and informative. Well done 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you
1. You should create the Top 10 Female Ballet Dancer Steps video. Could you show us how it's done? 2. That channel covers a lot of territory on different subjects, so I'm not surprised they didn't make it perfect. 3. You're right that a lot of this is subjective opinion. I only took a few beginner Ballet classes as a child. I know the very, very basics. I learned about Ms. Mojo's video not being perfect because you spoke up. So thank you.
Here’s our top 10 list! ua-cam.com/video/q-abWe_e_3w/v-deo.htmlsi=qPxyDuwrpw6uqqnq
Thanks for watching, and thanks for ur comment ✨✨
the way the ms mojo narrator is all “if you thought pirouettes were hard, get ready for piques!” uhh I’m sorry whattt piques are 100x easier in my opinion because it’s easier to maintain balance. Piques were always one of my favorite steps because of how easily they came to me but also looked graceful. All i can say is I’ve fallen out of many pirouettes but I don’t think I’ve ever stumbled out of a pique.
Me when I imagine dancing ballet and how it really looks are worlds between. I had been in ballet class but didn't go further, and so I ended up knowing most only theoretically. it was lovely to see here the examples from classical ballet.
Oh yeah, the 32 fouettés in the ending (; Oddly, Pierina Legnani introduced them in Cinderella, and the stepsister's name was Odette (;
Lol Glad you enjoyed the video and that ballet is still a part of your life. Yes, the little-known history of the 32 fouettés in Cinderella :)
@@balletreign Ballet history is indeed fascinating (: I love ballet a lot as a way of expressing emotions and telling stories, especially the 19th century ballets and I admire Fanny Elßler and Carolina Rosati (;
Amazing! So funny and I learned a lot! Would love to see you guys react/comment on other ballet videos popular on UA-cam!

What about the relévé turns in Grand pas classique with the leg remaining a la seconde? Oh my. That one is killer
I saw the Ms Mojo video and thought “damn even though I just started ballet I must be insane if this stuff is the hardest”
Yes, to those who have not trained these simple steps are difficult to master. Ballet is not for the faint. Keep going!
Ah yes, frappé... the devil's footwork and the bane of my dancing existence. 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
THANK YOU 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
You're welcome!! Thank so much for watching 😊
Coming from a musical standpoint, it is common for most people (even the greats) to trip up on foundational methods. So in band or choir the students would hyper focus on the difficult, jaw dropping, breath taking difficult sections, while our conductors would always, ALWAYS make us repeat the slower “basic” sections. In those ballads, decrescendo, soft places is were performers mess up. I can see the same happen in dance. So their list seems to be the “most important fundamental steps in ballet.”
Thanks for that musical perspective, it’s true that just the fundamentals may be easy to execute but not always easy to master! Yes, most of us dancers agree with that title 😊
Y’all should make a top 10 list of the hardest ballet STEPS 😊
Thanks so much!! Glad you’re here! We are hearing you and will definitely consider for a future vid?? 😊
Symphony in C 2nd movement has very difficult partnering
That is another good one to add-partnering itself should have its own category of difficulty
6:13 That's also my favorite part of Swan Lake!! :D
As a dancer myself, it is hard to believe that people would put pique turns on a list of the hardest moves in ballet. It is one of the first moves you learn in ballet and is one of the easiest, it is very clear to see someone who doesn’t dance made that list.
As an ex ballet student, grand adagio was my most hated part in every ballet exam
Yes, 💯 adagio is hard, but the pressure from exams make it even harder 😅
Girls you are amazing !!!
Thank you and welcome to the channel! 😊

I haven't done ballet in 20 years but piqués are definitely easier than pirouettes. Piqués were a favorite of mine. I also loved frappe. It was the slower moves I struggled with.
