It's hard for friends to be made and a community to be built in a game with no voip. Voip would make defense fun and create balance. Voip would make kicking cheaters easy. Voip would lead to archers shooting enemy archers. Think of the call outs you could make. Imagine the team building when a player ask for help and you save their ass. I would trade any new content that has been made or will be made for proper voip. Why the devs have not made this the number 1 priority baffles me. The amount of funny/cool situations and interactions that would be clipped and put on social media would blow this game up. Voip is the only thing keeping this game from being a masterpiece. Everyone should pressure the devs on voip over anything else.
I like how Soter Dave explained it. They acknowledged things like Moncrux being short and said “We know the best course of action is to add to it, but thats too much work so we’re not doing that.”
i ran into this issue when i used to play FIFA. The studio behind the game will pump out microtransactional bullshit for the shop, but when you want something done about the actual mechanics of the game itself, you get nothing in return from the devs. its so frustrating, but that's why competition is so important. maybe some day we get some more titles in the slasher genre to push the envelope, and keep studios like torn banner honest in how they manage their game and community.
i have around 200hrs on europe servers and i have never seen a cheater on team objective but i usually see them in 1v1 servers just flying around i don't know if its a difference with them but this is just what I've seen
I just started out on Xbox Game Pass for PC and I feel like the game is really easy to learn, haven't had a problem with stacked teams by skill more unstacked teams where we have 3 less players, 4 are afk and another 3 are killing each other in spawn. Fighting multiple level 1000s at the same time is fun, never bothers me
My biggest issue with the game right now, and maybe you guys cover it later in the podcast As I’m just starting it. But where the hell is the Battlepass money going? I defended them when they added passes since if it means more funding then we get more content. Why the hell has content slowed to a crawl and we’re getting lower quality content since the passes have been added.
I’ve been playing for a while and I am on Xbox. Generally I feel like they don’t really have anything aiming at fixing anything for console. Like same side feinting or being able to change your controls it’s a little difficult jabbing and crouching is on the same bind and it’s 50/50 with what your about to do. I love playing the game and when it comes to dueling against someone on pc it can be super difficult.
There are solutions to this. You could buy the elite controller which gives you additional buttons so you can remap the buttons however you want. I did this on ps5 and it made things much easier. I know this solution is not the best because it requires you to spend money. Also I read on reddit that if you change the settings to do directional attacks you could do same side feinting. I haven't tried it yet though. The other workaound I found is just to do an attack, then block (to stop the attack) and attack again. It's clunky, and it drains more stamina compared to alt attack on pc, and also leaves you open to a kick but it's something 🤷♂
Soter Dave is absolutely off base on the team switching. Lvl absolutely is an indicator of skill. Sure, not every lvl 1k is a beast, but 95 times out of 100, the lvl 1k is better than anyone less than lvl 300. It shows game experience and with more experience, people become better players. He probably can only do well in stacked lobbies
From what Dave said if you can just change your speed and damage if they were smart they could just slightly adjust the damage or the speed so it wouldn’t be as noticeable to the majority of players

l'm happy the siege crossbow doesn't work l play every class and l play archer just as aggressively as every other class on objective body on point or destroying gates right there next to the knights and vanguards, when l found out about the obj damage of the siege crossbow l was kinda mad cause l pride myself on my archer play style and now any bum ass archer can sit at the back of the map and damage objective... they should have to work hard for those extra points
I've been playing for about 2 months now I've just hit level 53. I don't feel like I'm getting stomped consistently in the top 5. It was pretty rough starting out and I still can't get the archery down haha.
Ngl if they didn't cancel cross progression so that I could move from EGS to Steam, I'd be playing a lot more, and I know then my friends would see how much hours I sink into chiv on steam and be like fuck it I'll try it
What i see here and i wish you would`ve brought up are 3 issues when it comes to match making. (coming from someone who only plays TD 500+ level) 1. Match making itself. If you have 20x 300+ levels , matchmaking system should try to divide them into 10vs10 if possible. I dont care if i end up against someone close to my level that might be better than me. What i do care if i am the only one on a defending team and 19 other guys are attacking...this is not fun and you blame matchmaking system here. 2. Switching teams Somehow you end up having somewhat decent team, and you hope it might be a fun game and 3-4 high level players switch the team...it instantly ruins the game and at this point you cannot blame matchmaking system, but you blame the players...This has to be handled in a way not to allow you to switch teams. If you queue up with a friend you should be together on a same team. So whether they restrict you completely not to be allowed to switch the team, or restrict you based on the average level that`d be even better, but just fixing the system to split the players based on the level is not enough and same issue will continue to happen. 3. Party of high skilled players. This is what Dave was stuck with the whole time when talking about matchmaking that friends should not be split. In all of my playing time i have seen just ONCE a good bunch of 3-4 high level players playing together and killing it on the defense. This is a very rare occasion (at least in EU) when this can occur , and if it does let them stomp. If you dont like it just leave to another server where you`ll find more balanced game. Lastly i`d say that high level DEFINITELY definitely makes a difference, unless you`re a twink . This game is all about muscle memory and there`s no way to become skillful duelist over night. You could be sleeping on the duelist server and gaining minimum XP while maxing your skills but i`d say those players do not really play much of the TD in the fist place, and again we`re not trying to find perfect solution but something where you wont be rolled over every time you play defense.

What I don't like about those "Vertical slices" tdm/ffa maps, is the fact that they seem to reuse areas that are already widely explored by players. For example, "the desert" map is literally the first objective of Baudwyn, and the new winter FFA map will probably be the first Thayic stronghold point. What if devs sliced out some unexplored part of the existing maps, maybe the snowy forest we can enter near the Thayic Castle that usually nobody enters, or maybe some rarely visited parts of Askandir, some backstreets of Baudwyn, Rudhelm or Lionspire? The objective on bazaar on TO Baudwyn map already feels like TDM, why make it an actual TDM map when you can explore something that feels new (albeit, not technically new)
Its not that many damn standalone servers. Give known trusted people admin to ban. We got ppl no lifing this game. They would glady help. Temp fix for hackers

Maybe whoever you spoke to doesn't personally know (if he's a developer he could find out) but just didn't care or felt the need to tell you Then Stridah mentions that he believes they keep copies of the old files as updates comes in. They do, it's called version control. Every change is in git so a dev could easily find out. You guys also mention how it seems like there isn't a dev who knows the details of the game inside out. I don't actually know what goes on in that studio and that could be the case, but maybe there is a developer who knows he just might not interact with the community (or care to). And if there isn't, that wouldn't surprise me. You would be shocked how many software engineers do not care about the projects they work on and how many are not actually passionate about coding, it's just a job to pay the bills. I work for a big tech company in the bay and when I first started I thought I would be surrounded by passionate developers who would talk code all day. I was shocked to find out just how different reality was. A lot and I mean a lot of devs just clock in, do their job and leave. Perhaps this is a result of burn out or stress or their hobby (coding) has now become a chore because it's a job and no longer fun like when they were studying to become a software engineer.
