@@skinnyvinny2070 Yeah same here, I'm trying to get like Ricky lmao. My wifi is about to be shut off in 2 days meanwhile he's buying a fuckin 140,000$ boat XD.
I don't agree with him about not running engine during flushing system out, because as with most V6 or V8 outboard engines there should be a thermostat on top of each cylinder head. So if you're not running them up to temperature, then you're not opening up the entire cooling system to get flushed out. Whether water cooled are not, they all have thermostats to my knowledge. That said there may be some of the small engines that don't rev high enough to need one, but at the rpm that your bigger engines run at under load, there's no way that they're not going to have a thermostat. Plus additionally with the epa standards the way they are, the four stroke engine has to maintain a certain temperature in order to burn clean as possible just to meet that standard. There no different than your automobile engine is, except not having a set of wheels to drive they have a propeller with a gear box in the lower unit that goes from forward to reverse and neutral with gear sets to multiply engine rpm, and convert into forward thrust. So I call BS on not running engine up to temperature when flushing, and I believe that Yamaha specifically says no need for muffs, because the hose adapter supersedes the need for those type of water supply for testing are flushing the engine cooling systems. Someone correct me if I am totally in the wrong here, but I believe if you read the manuals on Yamaha 200 through 300 I know for sure that's what it says. BTW FYI, Yamaha either 200, or 225 up to 300 is same block heads fuel injection system, except they change the horsepower rating in the ECM's to everything from low to high and in between. It's all there in the manuals for each engine I mentioned, so best to get one for your specific engine and follow the directions for proper maintenance. PS The hidden micro filters are in the injectors themselves when you start trying to figure they're locations out. Cheaper to fill up away from the water far as possible, because the closer you get the higher the prices go up.
Many seagoing boats simply run a restrictor and not a thermostat. If you run a thermostat, the sea water eats them up and you can easily stop them up with trash in the water.
@@Ronin8451 maybe so about the others, buy Yamaha, Mercury run thermostats in each head on the bigger outboards even in the two stroke engines. They have to have a way to regulate the heat in the blocks in order to burn fuel efficiently, as does any other combustion engine. I'm not familiar with anything smaller than 150, and large as I've worked on is the 300. But on the 300's they have thermostats in each head at the top next to the fly wheel. I know this because I have had to change them after one froze up just like they do in a truck are car engine after a while. Yamaha even recommends charging every 100 hours, because of the scale build up from minerals in the water. Why they don't use a metal disc or small piece of round stock as a place for the minerals and salt to be attracted to I've no idea. It would work same as the one used in water heaters in your home. But a static flush doesn't get the complete cooling system, and while it will work for a while, eventually the ports through the heads and block will eventually close up. Maybe their way of insuring their future sales are always going to be there, I'd be speculating if I said that was the truth. So as I said I am no expert, and I can be wrong as I have in my past, but I'm confident in the fact that they have thermostats in they're cooling systems, and that a static flush doesn't clean the whole system of salt and other minerals!
Rick is a great asset at Palmetto Boat Sales. I hope he took good care of you during your purchase. In 2015 I bought a Bahama blue 266 which I picked up from him parked in the exact same place you first saw your 268. Since then I've owned a 288 and now a 328 and I've been happy with all three.
As a fisherman myself one thing I’ll never understand is the price of boats. It’s simply crazy. This is a 120k+ boat. A boat this size should not cost more than a house.
I think it's the safety, support and warranty that make it cost more than it's worth. Let's be honest... A house should cost less than a house really 😂😂
Tough to find a 120k house in Florida these days. I bought mine for 119k in 2012 and today it's valued at 330k. It's ridiculous. Looks good on paper but I can no longer afford to move if we decide to. Unless we move out of State. Then 330k could buy a lot of house depending where you move. Always planned on moving to the mountains so maybe now is the time to start looking

@@fauxque5057 pretty much only in the midwest but finding anything under $500k near a city is a scrapper or a trailer on the West Coast. If you want to keep those motors clean, use your muffs everytime. Then after it cools down use the freshwater flush 2 minutes on 2 minutes off and repeat.......as little pebbles/debris can get up into the fuel/exhaust cooler pipes but take your props off so the gritt doesn't get caught in the recess they slip into too. If you want to get over 1200hrs/15yrs run the motors in big drums with salt x formula (non corrosive). The Yamaha blocks won't corrode as bad as the Honda k24s/J35 (BF150 BF250) but the water galleries can clog up easier in the 2.8L i4 and V6s Yamaha's. Also if doing a remote adventure or a week trip, I'd take a spare thermostat and gasket, plus a spare prop and split pin etc. Common sense. If the thermostat sticks open idles rough, if closed it idles high and will eventually put into limp mode. Buzzer equals limp mode (no plane)
