Most comments here are either by Christians who are upset by the title of the video before watching or properly understanding it....or atheists who are upset by the title of the video because they watched hoping for some good talking points that they can use as they troll through Christian YT videos but they either stopped watching or didnt properly understand it. God has put it in all of our hearts and consciousness that He exists ( Ecclesiastes 3:11), that's why the bible says a fool has said in his heart that there is no God because they are choosing to be foolish and deny true knowledge and truth while full knowing that God exists, they chose to deny God because they want their sins and want to stay in their sins but it's a horrible choice to choose sin over God ( Psalms 14). when they chose sin over God, the devil takes hold of them and sin rules them but don't let the devil keep you blinded from the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ ( 2 Corinthians 4:4), don't stay in your sins for sin leads to death ( James 1:17). remember We all will meet the one true and only God the Holy Creator one day ( Hebrews 9;27) and He's being merciful by giving us all time to get right with Him before judgement day, because when judgement day comes you get no second chances. God came as Jesus in the flesh to go and pay our sin debt on the cross, we deserve hell we deserve to take our punishment but in His great love and mercy He took our punishment and sins to the cross. God broke down the wall that separated us from Him so we can come to Him and be saved and have a relationship with Him. believe and repent of your sins and God will forgive and cleanse you and make you born again by His Holy Spirit ( John 3). today is the day of salvation, you don't know what day or hour or minute or even the second you'll die. Heaven is eternal and hell is eternal as well. Jesus is the only way to Heaven He's the only way we can be saved from sin and from hell ( John 14, Romans 6:23, Romans 10:9-14). don't choose sin over the Holy loving God. come to Jesus! believe and repent ( 1 Cor 6:9-10, Romans 3:23, John 3:15-18, Rom 10:9-14, NKJV).

What you call "word play" is called philosophy among educated people, which is the foundation of all science. Without philosophy of science we wouldn't even be able to define what is true and what is not.
what you actually call philosophy is a word play, i can argue from anthropological point of view, other issues like the evolution of language, what we actually have now is the pragmatic understanding or meaning - existence, to come into being or not but can you actually tell what exist and what doesn't thus at the end we end up on a socially conditioned term and definition . i think the only sensible meaning is that God is real and he is existence himself.
But is that not circular reasoning? You're saying that because the Bible says that God said "I will be what I will be," that God therefore is, but you are assuming the Bible is true. Why is it true? What Sproul is talking about has to do with Aristotle's potentials for change. Basically if anything has potential for change (occupies space, changes location, ages, etc.) then it is natural. If something occupies space then it has mass; if it has mass then it is subject to the passage of time. If God exists then he must occupy space, have mass, and therefore be subject to time which makes him a natural being, not supernatural. Hawking said that time did not exist before the Big Bang, so how could God, a natural being, set the Big Bang in motion? Therefore there cannot be a God.

Context is key in defining "existence" and, in fact, most words. As we learn in school context clues can help us define words For that reason, the context Sproul uses to define "exist" is completely right But since most people don't use the word "exist" in that way or understand it that way, it may still make sense to use it in "most" situations Still, very good teaching God bless him

I was going to because I'm not having a very good evening to begin with. Secondly, the title of the video is counterintuitive to logic. There's a billions worth of perspectives that call things/actions gods. So what is god? An omnipotent being or supernatural forces perhaps. The word is not that well defined as those that use it in terms to describe the thing they are calling it because when you distill it down to basic, god would be everything. And me..well I want to be nothing. Void being and void existence all together. That's what brought me here and wanting to comment before or after watching about 10 seconds worth after seeing the comments that this guy is lying in the first place. Seeing the number of "thumbs down" responses on this video shows the unfortunate state of the viewers (or mere visitors to the link). One is either utterly ignorant of his point, has just taken a surface look and decided to make a response without even watching the video, is an atheist, or just hates RC Sproul and/or his reformed view. I suppose another option would be that it was hit in error. There should be no such reaction from any person professing to be a Christian. There was no greater professor for the "existence of God", as it is called, than RC Sproul.
The title reflects exactly what Sproul said in the video, just not in the way most modern English-speaking people understand it (that is, the term "existence"). Click bait is deception; this title doesn't qualify as deception.

For me its simple. To look at EVERYTHING, how it works. The checks and balances. The shear complexity. The fact that planets do not crash into each other. The fact that we hang in space without falling into chaos. The fact that today, astronomy can tell you when you will see this comet or, that eclipse and that you can time the cycles down to the second. The fact that the simplest cell, must have all of its components present at the same time or it dies. The fact that the DNA is so awesomely complex with so much information in it, boggles the mind. When atheists deny the existence of God, they look at creation s components individually. But, when you look at ALL creation, and see how it all functions together, there is only one conclusion. We need to pray for people like Richard Dawkins because once they enter eternity, life, or summation will be final.
Atheists like me don't hate religious people because of what they think, it's because of what they do. Believing in god is fine but using it for money and fame isn't. I'm fine with christians if they don't use religion to disprove science. You can't prove god exist with science. You can use philosophy to prove it like this video and that's fine. Even though I am a atheist, I like christianity. It's a great way to teach morality. I believe that christianity doesn't help you physically but it helps you mentally.
Imagine a situation, where, something can be found out. If one side tells a person who can get this information. Now 2 things occur. Either, that person simply believes the person telling them is just completely nuts, because there is no evidence then so be it. Then, that person then can just keep doing what they were doing in their own private sanctuary as they were before, living within their free rights. Or, that it is known, yet covered up to such a level--Where the person telling it will never be allowed to have access due to the other side being of a satanic realm. They, living by that faith (Knowing how real God is by doing just what they do) and for the lie & deceit by the nature of the beast they represent. And by default--Allows said person to retain their free rights by those means as well. Living, as a non criminal, only expressing themselves in a free society--Having not lost those rights. Either 2 gets back to that same place. How could such a thing be possible--Other than by God existing could it be so?
I love it! God is, was, and will always be. Non-believers ask, "where did God come from, or who created God?". Rather than describe God as merely existing leaving the question of how God came to exist, as Christians, we should be stating confidently and proudly reinforcing the fact that God is eternal. For those of us who know God, eternity is not a concept but a fact and a truth from God who is eternal.

Well, yes, God does not exist as matter-energy. He is not some big old guy up in the sky with a long white beard, throwing thunderbolts at people He doesn't like. It's like the question, "Who created God?" God IS and is eternal so never needed to be created. He is not a created being.

The title was misleading, but he did not prove that god does is not there, because it can't be done. If something is not there, you can't prove that or it is unnecessary to think anyone could or should. Although this was also not proof of God being there either, but it was a good explanation of what he thinks humans mean when they talk about god. I know he is breaking down with the word "exist" like it didn't apply to god, but our language is for us to use to understand what we can know in our realm about anything so other humans will know what we mean. To say god doesn't exist because "exist" doesn't work on god, then we just have to make up another word to mean if god is there and we'd still be in the same position as before when using the word exist. If he's going to break down word this way and say they don't apply to where god is, as he does not exist in his own realm because existing means to become rather than always be, then one can probably say no words could be applied to god, like "real" because he would not be real where he is either. Real is a human word having meanings that use the word exist in it. I'm glad he proved god isn't creature like us since creature comes from creation. I suppose that means we are all not created in his image as it's been told, since he doesn't have the image of a creature like us. I think this man is helping prove god isn't there more than what he intended.
Is this that much different from modalism? I’m not a modalist, but the way he describes the Trinity doesn’t seem to me as heavily contradicting of modalistic theology as it may seem. Or maybe modalism adds something that makes it heretical. Anybody takers?

Nobody knows anything until it happens, every individual person does not know what is outside of life until they pass away, but there is no way of telling another being what happens, there is no reason to fear dieing because I would (ASSUME) that what is once something will never be nothing
He just explained that God does not exist in the sense that the english language uses "exist". R.C. also noted that God's disposition is not createrly therefore he can not be becoming (exist in this context). His argument is contingent upon God being eternal and not subject to change (I.e. aging).

I’m extremely confused and want answers (don’t read if you don’t want to, I’m just ranting. Read if you’re interested in my existential crisis) I’ve been looking at every bit of evidence. I would really want for something to exist a “god”, but reality and our evidence proved that there is nothing. But our evidence also can’t prove nothing, at least not at the 4th dimension/ our “time” so is there something is there nothing or what is there, if there even is anything? I watched a video of a guy in a TED talk, who said that everything was random, extremely convincingly. That it was our “reality”. If it’s our reality than why does it seem impossible to prove it. Also, the god theory, if there is a god why can’t we find proof. Why is there zero, not even the most absurdly tiny amount of evidence of it being so? Why are there over a thousand Gods without proof or evidence. Scientist also say that religious humans have a tendency to place god as the factor for why we don’t understand something as opposed to understanding it. But they are talking general God’s what if God isn’t really the word god, but the whole universe itself. Now we change the word god and put the universe. The universe is physical... well somewhat. Time isn’t, but we know it’s there because it’s happening. The universe is somehow tho, still part of what we know and see. So what was the start of everything. Stephen Hawkins said that there was no time before the Big Bang. It was just an it, so what caused “it” alright I’m back in the same loophole.

Darth Brooks - 1. He is very self evident, many choose to dismiss all the obvious glimpses of Him each day in the simplest of things (bees, for example). I’m saddened that you can’t see that... There are many books (Bible is the best but if that’s not something you’re wanting to trust yet, there are lots of other, shorter books and videos on the clear proof He is God and created everything). It takes more work for an atheist to prove his theory than a Christian. 2. All prayers from His children are answered and sometimes the answer is “no” or “not yet” (which I am very thankful for) Just because we don’t have answers in this lifetime, doesn’t mean the prayer was unanswered, we may just not see it yet. That’s where our faith is important. We don’t run the timeline because we can’t see the end. But more than that, God gave us free will and very often we stand in our own way and prevent blessings because we want our own will and not His. Stop fighting Him and understand that He will never force Himself onto anyone - because He gave us free will and we need a wiling heart, including the acceptance that we need a savior, The Savior. God allows (doesn’t cause but allows) bad things for the glory of His Kingdom that He wants to share with us. Satan is the bringer of all evil things, illness for example. God can use bad things with the purpose of salvation, sometimes it’s many salvations, sometimes it’s one, each is important to Him. He knows what it will take to change the heart of the unsaved and will always rescue those who surrender. It’s also important to know that the first prayer God hears, is the one of salvation/second birth, when we become His. He hears HIS children, not the devil’s. Do you take care of your own kids? Yes. Do you feed and clothe everyone else’s? Even the kids who harm your kids? There’s a relational difference. We’re born of sin and only our second birth is into God’s family, like adoption which is a choice but in this case - it’s our choice. Do you truly believe in Him? If so, why are you unsaved? If you do believe and still choose to be unsaved, you’ve made yourself your own god (like Lucifer did) because you choose yourself over God. This is a refusal to admit that the sculptor is greater than the clay. Even dogs understand master/follower. You can’t save someone who drenches themself in gasoline and lights a match, we are responsible for the consequences we choose.
Do we exist because of the universe? or does the universe exist because of us (God created all this for us)? If we cease to exist, would the universe cease to exist too? if the universe ceases to exist, would we cease to exist? did the universe exist before us? would it exist after us?
I understand what RC is saying and I love that he is preaching on God's immutability. I have one problem, and that is that a liberal art's teacher used the same analogy to try and prove a new age agenda. I would like to find out if she copied him or if he copied the new age agenda unknowingly? Not putting him down I am just really curious and scared of how to approach the subject correctly. All he did was change the meaning of words from their accepted everyday use to come up with a pseudo clever argument that people who already believe in a god seem to like. note his argument is valid for ANY concept of a god. Thor, Yahweh, Allah, apollo the FSM. Not so clever really is it?

Everyone knows that God exists. Because when they stand before Him on judgement day they will be without excuse. And as you quote that verse of scripture note that "there is" is in italics those are words that aren't understood to be in the Hebrew text it is put in there in an attempted help us understand the verse when it should read "the fool says in his heart no God" as if to say "no God" for me. The people who say there is no God are trying to lie to themselves when all of creation and the visible and the invisible shout God exists. This where Paul refers to what is said in Luke 3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: So to answer your question I was baptized of the Holy Ghost into repentance and Faith that Jesus Christ is Lord so that I will made acceptable in the presence of the Father because of what Christ did on Calvary. Before we can talk about whether something exists, we need a full, clear understanding of what that something actually is, not some vague notion of what it might be, what we want it to be, or what we expect it to be as taught to us by rote when we were children.
we cannot know what he is as a full understanding it is not capable to even think what is nothing so how could we contemplate what God is? That is where faith comes in and I know that is clechie but its true. Also there is not random books we wrote down go and search for God through knowledge and you eventually come to the conclusion that you need Faith at the very end of the understanding. But is that not circular reasoning? You're saying that because the Bible says that God said "I will be what I will be," that God therefore is, but you are assuming the Bible is true. Why is it true?
What Sproul is talking about has to do with Aristotle's potentials for change. Basically if anything has potential for change (occupies space, changes location, ages, etc.) then it is natural. If something occupies space then it has mass; if it has mass then it is subject to the passage of time. If God exists then he must occupy space, have mass, and therefore be subject to time which makes him a natural being, not supernatural. Hawking said that time did not exist before the Big Bang, so how could God, a natural being, set the Big Bang in motion? Therefore there cannot be a God.

There's a billions worth of perspectives that call things/actions gods. So what is god? An omnipotent being or supernatural forces perhaps. The word is not that well defined as those that use it in terms to describe the thing they are calling it because when you distill it down to basic, god would be everything. And me..well I want to be nothing. Void being and void existence all together. That's what brought me here and wanting to comment before or after watching about 10 seconds worth after seeing the comments that this guy is lying in the first place. R.C. Sproul's teachings are so deep and it really opens up your mind and the heart.
Seeing the number of "thumbs down" responses on this video shows the unfortunate state of the viewers (or mere visitors to the link). One is either utterly ignorant of his point, has just taken a surface look and decided to make a response without even watching the video, is an atheist, or just hates RC Sproul and/or his reformed view. I suppose another option would be that it was hit in error. There should be no such reaction from any person professing to be a Christian. There was no greater professor for the "existence of God", as it is called, than RC Sproul.

Gods not real
For me its simple. To look at EVERYTHING, how it works. The checks and balances. The shear complexity. The fact that planets do not crash into each other. The fact that we hang in space without falling into chaos. The fact that today, astronomy can tell you when you will see this comet or, that eclipse and that you can time the cycles down to the second. The fact that the simplest cell, must have all of its components present at the same time or it dies. The fact that the DNA is so awesomely complex with so much information in it, boggles the mind. When atheists deny the existence of God, they look at creation s components individually. But, when you look at ALL creation, and see how it all functions together, there is only one conclusion. We need to pray for people like Richard Dawkins because once they enter eternity, life, or summation will be final.
Atheists like me don't hate religious people because of what they think, it's because of what they do. Believing in god is fine but using it for money and fame isn't. I'm fine with christians if they don't use religion to disprove science. You can't prove god exist with science. You can use philosophy to prove it like this video and that's fine. Even though I am a atheist, I like christianity. It's a great way to teach morality. I believe that christianity doesn't help you physically but it helps you mentally.
Imagine a situation, where, something can be found out. If one side tells a person who can get this information. Now 2 things occur. Either, that person simply believes the person telling them is just completely nuts, because there is no evidence then so be it. Then, that person then can just keep doing what they were doing in their own private sanctuary as they were before, living within their free rights. Or, that it is known, yet covered up to such a level--Where the person telling it will never be allowed to have access due to the other side being of a satanic realm. They, living by that faith (Knowing how real God is by doing just what they do) and for the lie & deceit by the nature of the beast they represent. And by default--Allows said person to retain their free rights by those means as well. Living, as a non criminal, only expressing themselves in a free society--Having not lost those rights. Either 2 gets back to that same place. How could such a thing be possible--Other than by God existing could it be so?
I love it! God is, was, and will always be. Non-believers ask, "where did God come from, or who created God?". Rather than describe God as merely existing leaving the question of how God came to exist, as Christians, we should be stating confidently and proudly reinforcing the fact that God is eternal. The title was misleading, but he did not prove that god does is not there, because it can't be done. If something is not there, you can't prove that or it is unnecessary to think anyone could or should. Although this was also not proof of God being there either, but it was a good explanation of what he thinks humans mean when they talk about god.
I know he is breaking down with the word "exist" like it didn't apply to god, but our language is for us to use to understand what we can know in our realm about anything so other humans will know what we mean. To say god doesn't exist because "exist" doesn't work on god, then we just have to make up another word to mean if god is there and we'd still be in the same position as before when using the word exist. If he's going to break down word this way and say they don't apply to where god is, as he does not exist in his own realm because existing means to become rather than always be, then one can probably say no words could be applied to god, like "real" because he would not be real where he is either. Real is a human word having meanings that use the word exist in it. I'm glad he proved god isn't creature like us since creature comes from creation. I suppose that means we are all not created in his image as it's been told, since he doesn't have the image of a creature like us. I think this man is helping prove god isn't there more than what he intended.

I’m extremely confused and want answers (don’t read if you don’t want to, I’m just ranting. Read if you’re interested in my existential crisis) I’ve been looking at every bit of evidence. I would really want for something to exist a “god”, but reality and our evidence proved that there is nothing. But our evidence also can’t prove nothing, at least not at the 4th dimension/ our “time” so is there something is there nothing or what is there, if there even is anything? I watched a video of a guy in a TED talk, who said that everything was random, extremely convincingly. That it was our “reality”. If it’s our reality than why does it seem impossible to prove it. Also, the god theory, if there is a god why can’t we find proof. Why is there zero, not even the most absurdly tiny amount of evidence of it being so? Why are there over a thousand Gods without proof or evidence. Scientist also say that religious humans have a tendency to place god as the factor for why we don’t understand something as opposed to understanding it. But they are talking general God’s what if God isn’t really the word god, but the whole universe itself. Now we change the word god and put the universe. The universe is physical... well somewhat. Time isn’t, but we know it’s there because it’s happening. The universe is somehow tho, still part of what we know and see. So what was the start of everything. Stephen Hawkins said that there was no time before the Big Bang. It was just an it, so what caused “it” alright I’m back in the same loophole.

The simplest argument against God, are these two points: If God exists, why is he not self evident? If God exists why, are prayers not answered?
Darth Brooks - 1. He is very self evident, many choose to dismiss all the obvious glimpses of Him each day in the simplest of things (bees, for example). I’m saddened that you can’t see that... There are many books (Bible is the best but if that’s not something you’re wanting to trust yet, there are lots of other, shorter books and videos on the clear proof He is God and created everything). It takes more work for an atheist to prove his theory than a Christian.

All prayers from His children are answered and sometimes the answer is “no” or “not yet” (which I am very thankful for) Just because we don’t have answers in this lifetime, doesn’t mean the prayer was unanswered, we may just not see it yet. That’s where our faith is important. We don’t run the timeline because we can’t see the end. But more than that, God gave us free will and very often we stand in our own way and prevent blessings because we want our own will and not His. Stop fighting Him and understand that He will never force Himself onto anyone - because He gave us free will and we need a wiling heart, including the acceptance that we need a savior, The Savior. God allows (doesn’t cause but allows) bad things for the glory of His Kingdom that He wants to share with us. Satan is the bringer of all evil things, illness for example. God can use bad things with the purpose of salvation, sometimes it’s many salvations, sometimes it’s one, each is important to Him. He knows what it will take to change the heart of the unsaved and will always rescue those who surrender.
It’s also important to know that the first prayer God hears, is the one of salvation/second birth, when we become His. He hears HIS children, not the devil’s. Do you take care of your own kids? Yes. Do you feed and clothe everyone else’s? Even the kids who harm your kids? There’s a relational difference. We’re born of sin and only our second birth is into God’s family, like adoption which is a choice but in this case - it’s our choice.
Do you truly believe in Him? If so, why are you unsaved? If you do believe and still choose to be unsaved, you’ve made yourself your own god (like Lucifer did) because you choose yourself over God. This is a refusal to admit that the sculptor is greater than the clay. Even dogs understand master/follower. You can’t save someone who drenches themself in gasoline and lights a match, we are responsible for the consequences we choose.

I have one problem, and that is that a liberal art's teacher used the same analogy to try and prove a new age agenda. And as you quote that verse of scripture note that "there is" is in italics those are words that aren't understood to be in the Hebrew text it is put in there in an attempted help us understand the verse when it should read "the fool says in his heart no God" as if to say "no God" for me. The people who say there is no God are trying to lie to themselves when all of creation and the visible and the invisible shout God exists. For all the atheists coming here and get all worked up. RC is not trying to proof God from proofs. RC is teaching people of God how to properly understand God for who He is. RC is reminding the people of God that God is pure Being - i.e. the definition of our belief of God is that He is eternally "He is", or more famously the eternal "I AM", or another way of understanding Him is that He is "Being" (eternal self-existence, and unchangeable) and not "Becoming" (finite state of existence, changeable)

we cannot know what he is as a full understanding it is not capable to even think what is nothing so how could we contemplate what God is? That is where faith comes in and I know that is clechie but its true. Also there is not random books we wrote down go and search for God through knowledge and you eventually come to the conclusion that you need Faith at the very end of the understanding. I recommend reading St. Thomas Aquinas "Summa Contra Gentiles."
