@@markdudley3831 it made me giggle as well!
Survive Knives went extinct. Such irony.
His main problem was that he was trying to make knives to an unobtainable level of perfection with the kind of operation he had. The other was dreaming up new designs and trying to put those into production when the original designs were never getting made, finished, & shipped out.
It sounds like his OCD and/or autism, and over ambition got the best of him, and he was too proud listen to anyone else trying to talk some sense into him trying to help him.
@@Andrew-en4zx THIS.
I knew Guy was making excuses, and that his manufacturing process was badly in need of process development for scale, and that he didn’t price to cover costs but I didn’t realize that it was THAT bad, with him bottlenecking 80% of the manufacturing processes and going AWOL half the time. Looks like he did pretty much everything wrong from both a business strategy and manufacturing process development perspective.
It’s so sad!!!! I hope he gets help❤
@@ericasedcyeah, he strikes me as a guy that would be happiest designing and developing new knives rather than manufacturing standard models. He should train people to produce knives, he shouldn’t be on the floor.
But there is one thing he can do: make empty promises and lie! I'm pretty allergic to Survive!

Thanks for this video, the information and all your efforts!
It sucks because they’re literally all there. The blanks. Just sitting there waiting to be put together!
@ericasedc So, maybe it would be a good idea and an honest one to ship out those blanks, scales, parts and sheaths to those waiting. Not great but at least it would be something.....but, hey, no way! He will sell off all those parts (which, technically, by law belongs to the customers....we have already paid for them), to a company to partial pay the debts that he has mounted up. Living with that level of delusion. Struggling with the reality in your head vs the one outside of you that everyone else believes.
This shouldn't surprise anyone who's been even on the edge of this drama for the past decade. Survive has a permanent place in the Hall of Shame on Blade Forums feedback section. That said, if he could pump out production levels of knives with good quality, he'd be a rich man at the head of a large company. Interesting video, Slater! What a bizarre situation! Full stop! I'm not super familiar with the knife industry, but stuff like this happens in the guitar/instrument/music industry ALL the time. There'll be a talented luthier (guitar builder) who impresses everyone with his instruments, gets stars in his eyes about starting a guitar company, starts taking order for guitars, and a year or two later inevitably gets in over his head, takes too many pre-orders, can't keep up, and files for bankruptcy the next year, leaving customers without their guitars, etc. Alway a sad situation! I suppose it just sort of reinforces your point, Erica, about working with custom knife makers who have their hands on every single knife, who do their own custom heat treats, as opposed to Survive, who did NOT have his hands on every single knife, but was using Peter's heat treat to try to keep up with all the back orders... It says a lot about you, Erica, that you're trying to find a solution to this situation, and not just talking reddit conspiracy nonsense and empty political bantering etc. You're such a wonderful, empathetic person, and I appreciate you!! Good morning Ms E. Good on you trying to help. Take care.🇺🇲🔪🌲🔥
Cheers brother! Enjoy your day❤
Survive owes me 4 blades or over 1k..im going to my bank to file sales fraud report and have the bank lawyers deal with this...
@@Coryt1116 good thinking.
Be interested to learn of the outcomes of all this … fraud charges / embezzlement?
I looked into them and got bad juju from the business model.
@@darvinclement8404 yeah it’s a little over kill
Guy soured me on the entire UA-cam knife community, sorry to say. I ordered a 3V 5.1 in 2020 and then another knife in magnacut once announced. DBK promoting him and others as well lended credibility to this scam artist. I got nothing but lies and failed time tables when I could even get a response. He is a scam artist, no way around it. I hope he gets what he deserves.
@@cbisbey1043 I’m so sorry
So your idea to solve the issue is to sell knives... Basically advertising your business on the back of the scammed customers of Survive. You do you.
@@MercilessBreed yep! Precisely!!! Have a beautiful day!
Was the drama with magnacut just a ruse? Or is there truth?
Well…. I think it was both. That is a whole video in itself. Were there voids? Yes. Have they been recreated by a maker in the community? Also yes…
I’ve made a ton of knives in magnacut. It was not like he made it out to be. You need people who can use a grinder well
@@michiganprotection yes. There’s more to it than what was presented
I can't believe this. Now it's going to cost me $1000.00 for a GSO 5.1
Or you can opt for a different knife. I know it’s not the same. 😓
I hope another company takes over and i can still get my product..
@@Coryt1116 highly doubting that
Even if another company took over, they aren’t going to eat $1 million in pre orders from the previous owner.
@@Huero87 exactly
Say what you want about other knife makers. At least you got the knife. Geez😬
Thanks for watching!
@@ericasedc yeah of course. Sorry I’m way behind on this topic and just don’t have the info to make a better comment.

Erica, a serious, but a sensitive question perhaps, but an important one, i think. How do you cope with nasty sexist comments? Can imagine there are a few less nice comments on a woman being an expert on this topic. Strange mindsets are all around.
@@tomt5745 oh I get them all the time. I delete them and block the person. End of story!

Far from it!😂
I knew guy had problems with manufacturing that resulted from having an under-developed process and bad pricing model.
But I never imagined that a huge part of it was that 80% of the work had to go through one guy who only worked half the time.
The whole thing is so sad
