- (Hopefully this is more clear and answers some of your questions about Skinner's epic journey to Krusty Burger and back. With some added surprises.).
Chalmers doesn't want to be seen walking to Skinner's house, so he sneaks up for their luncheon following a carefully timed entry window (but, Chalmers is just a little early). Afterwards on the way to Krusty Burger, Skinner briefly finds evidence of his arch-nemesis Bart, before the quest to fool Chalmers with fast food becomes more perilous than he expected.
For me this is probably top 5 in steamed hams videos

I like how Skinner handled this situation similarly to how a lot of people would play a video game. He finds he's short on materials for the main quest, so he takes the back exit, towards some annoying random enemies. On the way to grab what he's looking for, he picks up a clue to advance a sidequest, plows through a river like he don't give a damn, and skyrims his way up a rocky cliffside. Then, burgers in tow, he notices a passing sky-bound decoration and decides to hitch a ride, taking it all the way back to the story quest he was preparing for. Admit it, you guys all play games basically the exact same way that Seymour played his life in this meme.

Well, lots of things could be happening here in this instance.
Skinner could be lying to his mother, but Chalmers would have called him out, since he did for everything else, didn't he?
So then either Chalmers is complicit in lying to Agnes, or it's "technically" evening.
Now the sun stays up pretty late depending on the season and where Springfield may be on the planet. For example, when I was in Seattle one summer, it felt like the sun didn't set 'til midnight.
Any time after 6pm is technically evening, regardless of daylight conditions.
Or... A wizard did it. I hope someone got fired for that blunder!

I've been meaning to go back through the Simpsons (I have the first 10 seasons on my computer) and rewatch them for Skinner scenes I can pull out. Basically I'm doing this all off of memory of scenes and whether they are on UA-cam or not.
