    Thanks dude, for the update. Looking forward to seeing the updated list . We have a big modern tourney next month and I’m entering with slivers (even if my friends think I’m crazy as we have T1 decks ready) but I wanna go with my babies at least once!

      I'll get a final list out asap! I respect the hell out of playing Slivers, by the way. I had a large handful of players at my lgs talk me out of playing Slivers at a pptq a while back, and while Burn was definitely a more consistent deck I didn't know how to pilot it nearly as well. Play what you want, and play what you know!
      If you saw my previous decklist (I replaced 4x CoCo with 4x Mindlash, alongside a playset of Dregscape), don't run that one. While Mindlash offered great disruption and synergy with Dregscape, it dilutes your powerful slivers with too much disruption/utility. Slivers are weak individually, unlike Humans, so getting 2 Slivers with 1 CoCo goes a lot farther with Slivers. The manabase becomes a little sketch between Sedge and CoCo, but hell I ran it for years before we had the London Mulligan and had great results doing so.

    Hi!
    Nice idea- thanks for the video.👍
    Talking about tons of 1-drops and unearth, what‘s your opinion on adding Experimental Frenzy in combination with Hollowhead Sliver and aether vial?
    Could ne nice, as I can draw the lands from my library and throw expensive slivers in the graveyard. Furthermore I can play some slivers from hand with vial.
    Cheers.

    Hi Purple Gaming, huge fan here! How do you think mindlash sliver will work with all this archlight Phoenix and hogaak in the meta?

    • @noitsjustcody

      Yo thanks!
      I have been playing a list full of them in the last few days, and I'm unfortunately much less sold on them now. While I surprisingly didnt play any of those decks across 2 modern nights, I started to see how it could power other decks, as well as how much this double edged sword would hurt me. I think it has great potential as a fun-of one drop with disruption, but if you're playing CoCos you're probably sitting on one and don't want to discard it.

    yeah, I've found that Dregscape and Cloudshredder are probably the best Slivers introduced in Modern Horizons, with The First, Spiteful, and Lavabelly also good but not quite the same level.
    Sliver decks rule.

    • @noitsjustcody
      @noitsjustcody  5 років тому

      The First is without a doubt the most fun commander I've run, though! It just definitely doesn't fit in Modern, unfortunately.

      So I'm sure this was discovered quite a while ago but about a week or so after horizons release I found myself looking at possibly doing a skred-like interaction with Spiteful Sliver and Volcanic Fallout if you have a couple slivers out on the board. Volcanic is also instant speed which means if you get board wiped you can kind of prevent them from dying or getting exiled if they use Settle the Wreckage.

    • @noitsjustcody
      @noitsjustcody  5 років тому +1

      Man I really love these ideas with Spiteful Sliver! I love that this is instant speed, I just see it only working in a small amount of matchups, unfortunately.
      That seems to be the biggest issue with Spiteful is just trying to find its place in a wider sense.

      I mean it depends on if you have board state or not, but if you did then it could work well in most any matchup? Maybe burn would be able to clear your board enough to not be worth it, but even if you had 2 or 3 slivers out with a Spiteful, you could Volcanic to clear their board or if your board would get wiped anyways, and that would be 3 damage per sliver out. Another much, MUCH slower way would be with Psionic Sliver's activated ability, but it's not even worth including at that CMC because you'd still need a Spiteful out and Volcanic would be much better and cheaper CMC wise. That or if they have a lot of board state, your creatures blocking still would trigger Spiteful's effect? Hell, even if they had one big creature and a few small ones, you could essentially sac all of them to block the big creature (assuming you needed 2 or 3 or more to block it and if it had trample) and it would do however much power the attacking creature has to them. PLUS, say they have out a planeswalker (or not) and you have spiteful out, if they bolt your 1/1 or 2/2 sliver they still take 3 damage that you can either direct at them or the planeswalker. I purchased 2, and am waiting for the foil prices to drop even more to get a playset of them in foil because it would look great and price of them foiled has been consistently dropping since horizons release, where it was originally 14 and some change per foil and down to 6.35, but there's no harm in having 2 copies and a couple Volcanics and such to make the deck have a combo off potentially. Not many decks run board wipes MB, but all you need is 1 Spiteful and 1 Volcanic and you can counter their wipe easily to literally deal damage to them rather than them just wiping your board for nothing in response to you going to combat.

    Hi again! I'm preparing for a big tournament. When do you use the venom sliver that is in your sideboard? Do you think Burn or aggro deck in general are an easy matchup?

    • @noitsjustcody
      @noitsjustcody  5 років тому

      Venom Sliver is great in any creature matchup, especially creature decks swinging in on thur ground.
      As for burn I've found the matchup is generally easy with the traditional slivers build. Darkheart is great as a one of on the mainboard, and I keep two on the side. Even if you only mitigate one lightning bolt you're usually able to build a board state as long as you have a diffusion/mariner.

    if you already considered cutting the vial's and coco's, i would recommend you take a look at this take of modern slivers with some combo elements deckstats.net/decks/95075/1345436-intruder-frenzy-slivers-w-desc/de

    Do you still play Slivers in Modern? If so, do you have any plans to record any of the games?

    • @noitsjustcody

      Wild question, because I'm literally about to today for the first time in a year haha. I quit because of cards like Plague Engineer and Wrenn and Six, but now that they've fallen out of favor a bit I think it's time to pull the old hive out again.
      From what I've seen though, the deck is just not competitive in today's metagame. Modern Horizons 1 and 2 just pushed the clock of decks up so fast idk if it can keep up, but I'll let you know!

      0-2 Elves
      0-2 Creativity
      2-1 Hammer Time
      I'm feeling it! I can tell this deck has major weaknesses that just can't be solved in the current meta game, but can confirm its still fun and kills things from time to time.

    Hey so I’ve been building a sliver deck since modern horizons came out and I’m pretty happy with my main board. However, can’t help but feel like somethings missing because I don’t have any aether vials. I’m definitely not willing to drop 200$ on a play set so would you recommend anything in its place? Or should I just fill out the gaps with more slivers?

    • @noitsjustcody
      @noitsjustcody  5 років тому

      That's a tough one, as Aether Vial is an incredibly powerful card. It isn't necessary, however, and you can play around it. Additional one drops are great, Unearth might be fun to use, and I've seen a new build use Summoners Pact for combo oriented slivers.
      My favorite new build so far is an infect based slivers build, found here
      goodgriefgames.wordpress.com/2019/06/07/brewed-up-5c-slivers-in-modern/
      I think it could still function well without the vials, but it would require Force of Negation still imo. I'm planning on talking about this in a future video, but to summarize it quick it's the most competitive slivers build I've seen in ages. Fast, flexible, and great interaction that other builds lack.
