So if I have 5 slivers on board with a spiteful sliver and my opponent plays anger of the gods on me. that's not a good slver card for modern huh? lol. seriously dude? without this support my modern slivers actually do really good. with this support they are twice as good now. and you do realize that dredge sliver can bring back the first sliver right?
Oh don't get me wrong, 15 free and direct damage to the opponent sounds wonderful. Every board wipe does not deal damage, though. Spiteful Sliver won't be main boarded, and for the sideboard you're better off with Frenetic Sliver as a board wipe dodge, as it works great against something like Supreme Verdict, too. Anger of the Gods and As for Dredge and The First Sliver...that never really crossed my mind much lol. That sounds absolutely wonderful, and if we replace CoCo with a few copies of The First Sliver I can see this working out surprisingly well now. The only issue is The First Sliver being played only on our turn, while CoCo is able to reliably give us 2 slivers at instant speed. It's a toss up, but you've definitely given The First Sliver more of a case.
yeah spiteful sliver is def a sideboard. im gona side him along with frenetic. 2 of each depending on the match up. if its burn or red/blue decks spiteful for sure. but others frenetic is perfect for.
Ayyyeeee. Thanks for the shout out. I was gonna comment back on your comment but I didn't have much have to add to what you said. After I saw your comment though, I did look at dregscape and realized it itself has unearth. Which 90% of people seemed to be oblivious too. I think a 3-4 of it will be pretty nuts, maybe just as a 2 of, but the fact it's a 2/2 for 1B is so good on curve. Plus if you play lavabelly's, you can just pop one in from the yard and then play a coco for 6 total mana, triggering the lavabelly at least 4x4 on a board with just 1 dregscape in play, which is 16 dmg in it of itself. 8 mana total if you have to play dregscape from the yard or from ur hand. That's a gamechanger for late game stalls where you just need to squeeze in some face dmg and can't attack. I def agree that people overlooked dregscape over Cloudshredder, but I still have so many new thoughts popping up with different interactions with lavabelly.
It's thanks to you I know Lavabelly stacks haha. The more I look at The First Sliver, Dregscape, and Lavabelly, I know they all have potential when combined. It's just a matter of combining them in a way to where we have other options when that doesn't work out. A boardstate isn't guaranteed to stay, which is why Dregscape is nice. And we'll want to build a board back up sometimes, which is why the First Sliver has such potential. Lavabelly relies on other slivers coming in WHILE it's on the field, which is where my hesitation still lies.
How well do you think hollowhead sliver would work with dregscape sliver and the blaspemous sliver combo? Also in another scenario, adding morophon with ramp in a slivers deck. Wouldn't that let you play legendary slivers in your hand for free making the first sliver more viable.
I think it has potential, but it's easily shot down by creature removal. Without any lords, Slivers are a fairly fragile tribe, so bringing back any creatures from the grave wouldnt amount to a huge chunk of damage without an already present board. Plus Hollowhead costs 3 iirc, so that's a bit pricey. As for Morophon, again potential, but requires certain things to go correctly. Due to the land base, Slivers are already a less than consistent deck, and relying on Cascade even more so. However, someone at my LGS was talking to me about a very similar build that goes off sometimes, and runs cards like Ancestral Vision just for fun on the Cascade. Combo slivers can totally work, its just far less consistent than already existing combos lol
I'm just brewing around rn, which is part of the reason I'm not making another slivers Decklist video lol. Cutting the CoCos isn't final, but it's on the table since I still have Vial on the mainboard. CoCo and Sedge are the only reasons the decks are inconsistent at all, so I'm trying to cut one of those and see how the deck plays out. Honestly though with the London mulligan I might just go back to having both.
And man did we get it! To be honest I'm starting to look at Unsettled Mariner as a 5/6th Diffusion Sliver for the sideboard, especially with how much removal I've seen in the last two days.
In Commander, absolutely. In Modern, probably not. It's costly, it's ability is niche, and we aren't running enough 5 color Slivers to take advantage of said ability.
I'd say less dodges removal and more postpones it for a turn lol, but right? I'm taking a Diffusion Sliver off the mainboard to fit a second Dregscape.
@@noitsjustcody People are sleeping on it hard. In testing I played against the new bridgevine and they tried to deck me... they milled a dregscape sliver. I had fun that game
I do, and I play Slivers there as well! I would love to make a vid on it, but I'm much less fluent in edh than I am playing Modern Slivers. I plan to eventually, but I have a few other vids lined up before I get to commander.
I don't want to give a definitive decklist until I have one I'm confident in. It took me years to come to what I thought was a finalized decklist, only for Modern Horizons to throw a huge curveball at me haha. Based on my last decklist, though, I see myself taking out Leeching Sliver, Sentinel, Blur, and one of the Necrotics. They'll be replaced with Cloudshredder and Dregscape, with that Necrotic and The First Sliver being thrown into the Sideboard somehow. I might also run a single First Sliver on the mainboard as a fun of, but again who knows lol.
It doesn’t need to be the end all be all but I’m new to modern and love slivers so getting an idea of what I can make would be great since I’m getting all the new slivers :) anything helps!
I'll have one together hopefully by tomorrow here for ya then. Just cracked all the packs from my Horizons box and I'm tryina edit this next video together haha.
Threw together something here! tappedout.net/mtg-decks/modern-slivers-post-horizons-1/ My biggest concern is the drastic drop in 3 drops. While I always felt the 3 drop slivers were the most clunky cost wise, I rarely have reason to suspect I'll draw one now. This isn't too much an issue in a vacuum, but when you have to uptick your Aether vial BEFORE you draw you're left wondering if you'll hit Necrotic or not. Necrotic is an incredible card when your Aether Vial is sitting on 3, as you can flash in some land destruction or surprise an opponent by destroying their Planeswalker on their upkeep. Otherwise a Necrotic played on a main phase is screaming "LOOK AT MY PLAN."
Hey purple. I just saw a video and article on SCG VS live. Ross Meriam plays slivers but he totally changes the entire deck construction that we both know. It seems so cool, rainbow lands, canopy lands and a Sliver Legion mainboard since the cut of CoCo. Seems super legit and fast. www.starcitygames.com/articles/38758_Testing-More-Modern-Horizons-.html
Hmmm, this is very interesting. Looks like he cut the Sedge Slivers, too, which I don't disagree with. Definitely makes the land base easier. I don't hate removing CoCo, either, as 5 mana dorks and vials should be sufficient. I'm just surprised he's running 4 Lavabelly and 4 Unsettled Mariners mainboard alongside 4 Diffusion Slivers. Like damn, I guess Slivers are never gonna get targeted lol.
@@noitsjustcody Yeap. When he played 2 Mariners, it was pretty gross. Also, go read mariner, it also protects your face. I totally overlooked that. So useful for burn and hand destruction.
@@noitsjustcody Yeah, I think I was wrong about it stacking the way I meant before. I think you have to play multiple slivers (if lavabelly is already in play)/lavabelly's in the same turn for it to work that way. Maybe even then I think it still just does 1 each time. :(
Two Lavabellies means two procs tho, so that's still nice in the long game. I'm really warming up to Mariner tho, mostly for being a 2/2. Having a board full of Diffusions, Cloudshredders, and Galeriders makes me want something a bit more beefy if I can't find a lord lol
Spiteful Sliver - 0:26
Unsettled Mariner - 1:28
Changeling Outcast - 2:15
First Sliver's Chosen - 2:30
Cloudshredder Sliver - 2:57
The First Sliver - 4:03
Lavabelly Sliver - 4:56
Dregscape Sliver - 6:11

I saw a crazy sliver reanimator deck on mtggoldfish the other day. They were running morophon and the first sliver. It looked fun as hell
Also if your interested there is a group on FB called The Sliver Hive, where sliver fans talk and discuss deck ideas.
Yo thank you! I definitely needed this info

I smashed that Subscribe button dude, as it’s fantastic to find a sliver lover!!! Great video and I’m so excited to play slivers again.
Yo thanks for that sub! Always happy to convert another player haha
Very nice video , I'm just getting back into magic, so it's nice to see new cards!
Thanks!
Every format is seeing a nice amount of new cards being introduced to it. Aside from Hogaak I'd say it's been largely some great growth!
