@@mr_wrongway got the big brothers N40-5 GT instead. Heavy but with nice features. Still, I would have preferred a lighter helmet. Until now, I only heard good review of the Nolan N30-4 VP which was build for our kind of usage (EUC, electric scooter, …). Just missing a few feature like the ability to add an audio system and a sun protection. I am quite surprised that you were able to try it out as it is quite new (around 1 year? And 6 month for availability?) Well, I will keep your opinion in mind.
Nice video! My Airoh is indeed a bit warm during summer time - I would love to have a bit more ventilation on top. However, by opening the visor half-way it's quite nice when riding + you can also open it just a lil tiny bit to get some extra ventilation. I carry a towel with me to wipe my head from time to time 😃 Other than that it's an excellent and nice looking helmet. I might look for something summer-specific and the LS2 looks nice for that. I also looked at "bell mx-9 adventure" as I've heard it has good ventilation and it also has this nice adventure style, but it was impossible to see one in a shop to try out. Maybe next year I will try it out
Thanks for mentioning how bad TSG/Predator helmets are, though more people like yourself should be hammering down harder on this subject. To many “retailers” and paid UA-camrs promoting that rubbish.
Please do. You’re not the only one that has brought up this subject, there was a quick video Dawn Champion made showing just how bad they are. TSG helmets should be condemned for EUC riders.
@@skampster, Adam, every time I see these complaints about the TSG Pass, it's always about concussions. The problem is that bike and motorcycle helmets in general are not designed to prevent concussions. Concussions are not part of any helmet testing standard. The only safety complaint about the Pass that makes sense is that it's too easy to hit your face against the chinbar.

How many people have hit things like poles/trees etcetera…… I’d rather crash in my Shoei helmet, concussion or not when dealing with the extreme venerability that comes with EUC/ high performance scooter riding.
Let’s break this down to its basics. Do you think that F1 and Moto GP drivers/riders would ever dare race with a TSG helmet? No they wouldn’t, and I’d rather spend more money staying alive than look “cool” in a TSG helmet. That’s all they are is a fashion statement. Period.
Hey Adam, I just saw a bunch of people who knew nothing about EUCs say that you can't brake on these, even though they clearly never even tried one. So I thought there might be a video on braking distance. But I can't find any. So I think a good idea for a video would be a brake test for a bunch of EUCs, and compare it to other vehicles, like bikes, e-bikes, scooters, even cars, all going the same speed. One good quality video that anyone could reference when people are doubtful about the security of these would be amazing to have. Or multiple videos, each one about a different prejudice on EUCs, so we've got a whole catalogue to send to people when they don't believe it's not as bad as they imagine it. Or even if it is bad, to at least know what the risks are, and therefore be better prepared for them. I think you could do an amazing job with this.
@@graemebuchan1919 thanks! It's a comparison between one wheel and one e-bike on a lot of different topics though. I think a bunch of smaller videos each about one small subject (or a big video with a lot of timestamps like Adam does so well), comparing multiple wheels at different speeds to different vehicles would be a great resource to have. Making it more "scientific", using more data and more varied, and it would be amazing. But thanks for the video, it is a great start I somehow forgot about.
My 2nd helmet is a blue TSG and I just added Lightmode light together with a the white Breakfree light plus strapped the ACE Pro on the front of it using the insta360 helmetstrap, and then im trying out the L shaped portrait mode bracket and using the watch to make sure framing is on spot.
Great video, may you consider making an update video for newer model helmets that may have been released between the time of making this video, and the present? i was looking at the alpinestar sm10 super tech helmet for riding my euc. i ride equal on road and offroad trails a lot (4500 miles in approximately four months). i really like the idea and experience of riding with a really light weight helmet that also offers great protection. it would be really nice if more helmets could be snell approved. that is just how i grew up, i was always taught that snell is the gold standard of safety. presently, i’m looking for a lightweight helmet that is i think the adventure type, because i like the openness of the adventure helmets. i also like how the adventure helmet offers greater sound reduction compared to motor cross helmets which utilize goggles. i prefer to use one helmet for everything i do on an euc, but i may end up buying two different helmets. such as the alpine star supertech sm10, and possibly a scorpion xt9000 (carbon) with pinlock (if available) i also would like to have access to an auto dimming lens, which i am not certain i am using the correct terminology. but it is simply a lens (or goggles) which automatically darken, when exposed to sunlight. i also understand that there may not be a perfect helmet, nor perfect situation in choosing a helmet, but i will continue to research this, with great interest.
Canadian winter can be harsh. I use a similar carbon solution but much better adapted to cold weather. Have you tried snowmobile helmets? I wear the CKX Mission Carbone. It has a heated double lense visor, a neck wind guard and a nose seal to make a goggle like sealing around your face. All of these can be removed for summer riding as well but I need to try it next summer before I make myself an opinion.
Hi there! I’m glad you like your choice! We checked out a FXR snowmobile helmet with a heated shield and breathbox :) although it was great, it felt a bit heavy and I already had the Airoh at the time which is great in those conditions minus the breathbox and heated shield :) both of which I can live without pretty well (at this time). Thanks for your input though! I will look up your model!
I use the BULLITT CARBON full faced motocycle helmet. It only weights like 2.5 lbs but it's a full motocycle helmet. Highly recommended. Also the commend on TSG is correct, it's not a good enough helmet for EUCs.
One suggestion for us winter riders: cut off the metal chinstrap rings then install a magnetic Fidlock ($10). Then cut off excess strap and wrap end with gorilla tape a few times. Easy on off and secure.
I appreciate this video. I've been using a full-face motorcycle helmet all summer, but now that it's winter I'm finding that my visor and glasses fog up really badly below 20F (-6C). I even tried holding my breath with no luck. I ended up having to open my visor completely (cracking it didn't even help) and removing my glasses (lol blind man on a unicycle coming through!). I'm going to have to give the off-road helmet with ski goggles a try.
As we going faster we really need to look and start like you do recommend MX or adv helmets. We only have one head might as well protect it. My Bell Super Air R is also looking for a replacement and its MX with goggles first choice. Thanks for the video.
I rode with a mountain bike/motocross Fox helmet all summer. It was great, but noticed how loud it got when I purchased a watch and it kept reminding me. I started with earplugs and it was great, but winter here is also harsh so just now purchased a modular LS2. Yes, it is heavy, but the ECE22.06 is something that I felt is necessary for me. My use case puts me often many miles from signal let alone civilization, the safer the better. I love the LS2 modularity, I see you with something like that too in the first part of the video, maybe the other one like that, the Shark? Anyways, informative as always, keep it up!
I really think EUC riders can be right babies about weight. As a motorcycle rider I just use my motorbike helmets and got used to the weight when I started bikes. They are by far the safest way to go and already have a bunch of research into them. If you can't tell, I am not a fan of people using MTB/longboard helmets for fast EUC riding purely because they cba to build the neck muscles needed to be comfortable with a standard ece motorbike helmet. Edit: Just to note, I am aware that in summer / high heat and doing slow speed riding, motorbike helmets can be too much, but that's ventilation not weight. Just get a ventilation focused helmet.
As a motorbike rider, I can't entirely agree with you. Motorbike helmets are also designed to lift some of the weight with speed we can't achieve with EUCs. Yes I agree that you can get used to the weight, but that doesn't mean that long term it's good for your neck. Also, you more than anyone should know that you should adjust your gear to your activity. Doing offroad means that you need to have a wider field of vision, a lighter helmet and that you're going low speed, a MTB should be more than enough. If you're doing high speed on road then you don't need that much of a field of vision and you need more protection and aerodynamism, therefor a motorbike helmet makes more sense. If it was just all about protection and nothing else, everyone would be using the same helmet for every sports. There's a reason that's not the case especially on a professional lvl...
Same reason why doing long roadtrips on a motorbike, you don't gear up with track gear, and on track you don't gear up with the gear you use for long roatrips. And why on a bicycle you don't wear motorbike gear...
I would like to see a video about gloves too. I have cheap wrist protectors and with them I can't use really warm gloves. I looked at motorcycle gloves but they miss wrist protection as we need it.
what kind of intercom systems do you use for the LS2 Fast EVO? i am also a little worried that the helmet blocks too much of the noise since i use my hearing a lot for corners i cant directly see the cars coming.
I use the LS2 and have had little to no issues with it. The chin strap fastening could be easier and the earpieces for my Com system don't fit that well. Also, there are so many surface changes, it can be difficult to put stuff on it such as a mirror, Com system, and lights. That said, I did manage to find a place for all that stuff. Pin lock?
How do you find it wearing glasses with the heavy padding inside the helmet. Is it annoying, do the glasses get shifted on your eyes because of side pressure?
I love my LS2 OF569 open face helmet, but i can't mount my camera on the chin which is a bummer, i've ordered a Bell Sanction MTB just one day before your video
