Look at the pulling angles of the farmi or the walenstein. You need to pull from a higher point and have a skidding rail with hooks under the winch. And a ground engaging point to hold the tractor when winching.
It’s no walenstein, but it is an inexpensive way to pull bigger logs out. There are hooks under the winch and that’s my prototype. I added ground engagement point to the other models.
If the chain was longer so you can wrap it completely around the log twice and then hook it on itself then hook it up to your Wall bracket on the back your charger it will keep it from sliding off and it would work out good. You can also go down to your local logging shop or even possibly tractor supply store and they can make up a bunch of choker cables. Then, when you get to your lunch, they won’t come off at all and I think quick work of it. Looks good though.😊
No I don’t. That one is my prototype which is made with 1/4” steal plate for the 3 point hook up. The ones I build for customers are made with all 1/2” plate and 2x2x1/4” tube. Much heavier and stronger. But my original one in the videos has not bent nor failed in any way so I’m very happy with the way it turned out. I still use it.
@ricsoutdoors7816 sounds dangerous, selling a piece of equipment with 13,500 lbs of pull attached and no known rating. What's your insurer say about that?
Hey Ric, I have a similar idea for my up and coming wood yard but I have questions. I'm definitely not going into the skidder fabrication business so have no fear. My biggest question is shock loading and static load on the winch gears, I know most all bumper mount type winches like this have planetary gears and I was wondering how they hold up after a while, I'm a logger by trade, a skidder man but the big cable skidders have a completely different type of winch, apples and oranges to how these 12volts work. They are made to drag a load over rough ground and handle hang-ups , jerks and snatchs while being towed behind the tractor, these smaller winches from my understanding are not designed to handle that and are only for pulling a load under their own power, not towing a load with the cable.if you get what I'm questioning. Just wondering if you have had any issues with this or if there's things you look for or avoid when looking at winches. Some kinda gear lock or brake on the spool?
Hey Eric, great question you are correct the winch is only pulling the logs to the tractor, that’s it. Then I have 3 welded chain hooks on the winch frame that I hook the chocker chains to a pull/skid the logs out. So the winch cable is doing nothing just dangling nothing hooked to it. The cheap winch that I have is working great no problems at all. I’m sure if you use the winch cable to skid logs you will damage the winch possibly damaging the drum. I broke a small ATV winch like the. Lol
@@ricsoutdoors7816 see! That's why you should watch the entire video before you start typing, I missed the welded chains because I was writing the first comment. That's the idea I had while using a short boom, winch it in and then use a chain to take the load off the winch! Good deal
Hey Mr.Ric your "new-fangled" idea is Suburb. You got the "Electric-Hog" winch solidly mounted, the hood UP for excellent engine cooling, and your "stance", right next to winch-a-matic to finely observe "Over heating issues", and a fine "glove-Less" touch on the "wire-rope-guideance" system. I think l wood have an EXTRA battery rigged "direct-drive" to the "winch-a-matic ". Having those Lonnggg "junker-cables" dang-a-latting from front to back is a BIG lose of Electical Power, pulse it's "Throbbing " the Electricical-Contorol-Unit (ECM) to the Tractor,=;; Bad-news soon. Just newly acquired an electric winch for a "like-wise" application. Thank you Sir for the Excelent vidio and happy safe tractor wincheing. Best wishes with all your endeavours.
i ear you say patent pending...i've had this for 6-7 years...batterie woud not keep up..now i have an hydraulic winch...now can i say that you stole the idea from me???hahaha...great job...by the way i probably stole the design from somebody else to....
Your lack of winching knowledge and experience are glaringly obvious. Do not touch a cable with a bare hand. Do not suck the cable all the way in on a pull. Do not reverse the drum without tension on the cable. This is what I observed in about 30 seconds of your activity. These are all very basic, 101 type things.
@ricsoutdoors7816 not everything is about not getting hurt. Rewinding the cable top far creates more work for you and damages the cable and fairlead. Unwinding an untensioned cable creates backlash and can allow a load to move unexpectedly. Again, just things I noticed that quickly illustrate your lack of knowledge and experience.

you could make the winch mount pivot and lock with pins at 3 different angles so your winch winds evenly
Good idea. Thank you

Thanks, I did get longer chains an choker hooks. Works much better. I’ll be pulling more logs this spring.
do you have a video that shows the 3 point winch mount you fabricated?

New subscriber here!! Pretty cool video looks like I got some catching up to do!!!!👨🏻🏭🚜💨💡
Thank you. And thanks for subscribing.
What's the weight capacity of the 3pt winch mount? What's its single-line pull rating? Is it rated for a double-line pull?
It’s a 13,500 lbs winch.
@@ricsoutdoors7816 asking about the mount not the winch
Not sure I’ve pulled very heavy logs with it, it’s welded inside and out. It’s very strong. I can’t bend it with a 6k tractor.

When you were explaining your winch couldn't hear one word you we're saying
Thanks for letting me know I’m going to get a better camera with mic.
Interested in buying one but can't find your website...how can I get ahold of you?
Hi Tim, you can send me an email at ricsoutdoors@gmail.com or through the website at ricsoutdoors.com
Let me know if you have any problems. Thanks.
I’m not seeing this mount on your site, just manual 3point atv mounts… please advise

Lol, I have no problems with the battery holding up. Works great.
seems easier to just pull it with a chain.
Then you would need a very long chain. Not every log you can easily get to.
He said everything is expensive right now, give CrazyJoe another 3 years and you are really going to find out what expensive truly is.
I agree 100%.
Still no better, everything is still expensive.
