  • If you’re new to scrapbooking, you’ll want to learn how to use a paper trimmer. If you use a sketch to create a layout, oftentimes you’ll have to cut your paper to the specific measurements dictated by the pattern. Therefore, it helps if you know how to measure and cut. In this clip, I'll show you how to do it.
    NOTE: This is an update to my older paper trimmer how-to video.

    Thank you for this video! I just started using my cutting board yesterday and it was kicking my ass not gonna lie! Your video was incredibly helpful, although it's still confusing I'll get the hang of it now that I see the orientational logic!

    Thanks for a clear demonstration of how to use a paper trimmer! I've been putting off getting one for my collage work because I wasn't sure how to use it. Going to get one now!

      Yay, glad it was helpful! Once you get the hang of it, it gets easier to use. I recommend the Fiskars trimmers. They last a long time. The one I use now is about 10 years old.

    lol loved the look on your face with the algebra formulas! That was me the other day attempting to follow a sketch. I wasted 2 sheets of paper before I gave up.

    Thank you so much. For the first time I learned how to cut large sheet of card paper to 8 1/2 by 11 inches.

    Thank You for great tutorial. God forgot to give me a brain cell (where math is concerned😂 I will have to mention this to Him one day)! I mucked up some lovely bookmarks I made - which took me ages to paint…I cut them, with my new guillotine and didn’t realise that the actual cut doesnt’t match where I had lined up the measures! ! Hey Ho! That’s life! XXXX PD from the UK

      I'm not a math genius either, but for some reason I can do fractions and decimals. Sorry to hear about your bookmarks! I can understand how frustrating that was. Hopefully this video will help you do the measuring on your next project. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for teaching me this tutorial. Honestly, I have been out of school for years and like they say if you don't use it (measuring) then you loose it. So, I have been stuck buying pre cut cards and bases. 😂Thanks again

    Great explanation.
    I wish we'd switch from imperial measuments to metric.
    Centimeters and millimeters are so much easier and more precise.

    Shout from the darkness: does anybody know whether Fiskars blades like in this video are compatible with Kit'n'Caboodle trimmers (12 inch one, not the micro one)? They look pretty the same (those blades), but I don't want to purchase the other brand if it won't fit snugly. The trouble is that blades of Caboodle don't seem to be on the market anymore and I don't want to throw away the trimmer just because I cannot resource the blades.

      Hi, good question! I just did some research and see that it’s a product from the UK. I hadn’t heard of this brand before. Looking at UK craft sites, I couldn’t find the blades either. Hopefully someone in the know can weigh in and that you find what you need.

    My only problem I have with a paper trimmer is getting the straight lines the same at one end as the other. I can't find a video that addresses this issue :(

    • @thescrapbookschool
      @thescrapbookschool  10 місяців тому +1

      A lot of times it's a flaw in the trimmer's design.

    here is one for you. I want to cut a piece of 11x17 to equal 8.5x11. It aint working me!

    • @thescrapbookschool
      @thescrapbookschool  Рік тому +2

      Well, if you fold 11 x17 in half, it becomes 8.5 x 11. Once you fold it in half and get the crease, put it in the trimmer and cut it at the crease. Hope that helps!

      I mark my paper with a separate 12 inch ruler and then cut it with a paper trimmer. I just don’t get it… your video was helpful, though and I subscribed to your channel ❤
