Great sound and story. My dad played bluegrass on a mid ‘70s J 45 Deluxe before passing away. I gave it to my son on his 30th birthday. We both play. 😉
Life's funny. I'm about to pull the trigger on a j45 and it's a '74... I see your vid and click. I hear one of my favorite songs by arguably my favorite band. I listen and decide that the j45 I want will be worth it. I also want to mention that I met and hung out with Mike Starr in Salt Lake. I was going, hey, this is pretty cool... I'm fairly certain that we were becoming friends. Coffee, talks about life and such. Not a ton about music actually, at least not me asking the typical fan questions about this and that regarding AIC (It was killing me though!!!) But I didn't want to be 'that guy'. At any rate Mike passed on and I'd hung out with him just a few days before. 😕 Well I feel better saying all that I suppose. He really was a very nice guy and I feel fortunate to have crossed paths with him. Thank you for this video. 😊 ... and you are very talented!!! 👍
Fantastic sounding guitar with a great story. I love guitars that can tell you a story just by looking at them. You can definitely see this guitar has been used for a very long time.
Dr. Rack, great video and recording man. Love the bass sound, you nailed it! So cool you got to jam with Mike. The guitar sounded great, I can see why it's your go-to. Keep 'em coming brother!
I have a well used 1978 Gibson J45 Deluxe at home. The owner wants me to sell it for her. That thing is really great, it was used on hundred gigs and sessions…you can hear it. Somehow I dont want to sell it.
What a fantastic find! And an amazing resurrection….she’s beautiful. I’ve been lusting for a square shouldered J45 but being left handed it makes finding one even harder. But great job on the guitar. Just goes to prove with a little bit of faith…anything is possible. I need to look in a few skips. Great post 👍
man you need to have a better recording environment, hum, and hiss what mic are you using for recording your voice. i like your output but not production values.
Great sound and story.

Great video and story Michael. That J45 has spirit.
Fine reasoning. Recycling is not only ecological, but sometimes valuable too. It does sound sweet, great video.

Have you heard of Baxendale guitars? I’ve thought about sending my ‘73 Gibson SJ Deluxe to them for a renovation

The environment is my battle. I am actually using a camera mounted shotgun mic for my voice.
that rode nt1 is the worst mic i ever interned with.
