Wow,.. what a gorgeous demo Matt! What’s that Gabriel tune, “Salisbury Hill”? Lovely! Thanks for sharing this wonderful instrument and an essential piece of American history.
Guys … during war time… Gibson made several guitars with a truss rod cover on the headstock, but actually without a truss rod underneath. That’s the fact… war time … difficult times ! And restrictions on metal
Amazing tone. Like slipping into a nice warm bathtub of scotch. I just can't with those old Gibson necks tho. The C or the D. I even feel like they're probably more ergonomic, I know my hand gets fatigued less quickly, but I just can't do anything... not mellow...
No truss rod !!! Then why is there a truss rod cover on the headstock ??? I think you might have the year wrong on that one. I'm pretty sure that during WWII they didn't put truss rods in those big fat necks. There was a metal shortage, along with a lot of other shortages back then.
there are war time Gibsons with a truss rod cover, but without a truss rod. And others miss both… I own a 1943 war time L7 Archtop, and it’s without truss rod or cover. It’s one of the best guitars I have ever touched. Love it so deep 👏
Holy Jesus, there is the sound. I need to end up with a guitar like this. Great playing on the demo
Matt Rieger has an incredible touch... Every single one of his demo's sounds fantastic! Lovely guitar
You should have mentioned, that Buddy Holly owned one of those models. 1943 Banner J45. He wrote most of his songs on it.
Great sounding guitar and playing. I love old Gibsons. The LG 2 is a good also. I had and early 50's one that I wish I had back...
Wow. What an amazing guitar. One day I hope to get a Gibson J45 banner.
Ahh… The warm honey of an old Gibson, nothing finer.
Why do we all know that this is "the acoustic sound". Like liquid creamy chocolate. Wow!
Really Really cool, sounds great, and great playing, Clyde from Houston
The dot on the i on a 53 touches the G. love Gibson
Never thought I would want an all mahogany guitar. I was wrong. Beautiful tone and playing.
Wow. Amazing sound. Way different than the modern ones.

THAT is what an acoustic is supposed to sound like. Wow.
nick drake vibes haunt that old box. wonderful playing sir.
Gotta love that all mahogany sound, a recording dream.
Spruce top.😂
@@coolhandluke2310 Wrong. 🤣🤣🤣
Great musician and great guitar
Yes….
Did he say “no steel truss Rod”? Does that mean you can never straighten the neck? Or are those made pretty straight?
I wouldn't trust him on that (or on much else, in fact). This one does have a truss rod.
@@walterrizotto8668 It has a truss rod cover or he showed the headstock of another guitar.
@@jimmycollette9209 Indeed.

It’s in great condition.
Awesome thanks

wow...i can see where my j-45 got some of its genes.
Sounds great, but some simple strumming to compare what my ears know would have been helpful.
What are those strings they look like flat wound
Almost as good as mine!
Old growth is the thing . Tight grain
My 1958 has a crack in the exact same spot. 🙄
