Just wanted to stop by and say "hey"! Was looking at J45 Deluxes on Reverb and stumbled on to your video. Really enjoyed it and wanted to say "Thanks" for taking the time to do videos like this. I so appreciate it! Keep up the good work.
Good morning from West Michigan. I just found you and I like what I see and hear. The "Deluxe" is really nice! BTW, I got my "Southern Jumbo" from Sweetwater last year, too. I ordered it in the summer (21) and got it in the middle of October. It is beautiful and I feel much the same way you do about it. I have a Martin HD 35, too, and it is wonderful. The Gibson and the Martin are apples and oranges. I love them both! Take care and we'll keep watching.
Thanks neighbor! I actually just posted this guitar for sale on reverb and marketplace hahaha! Always searching for the next guitar. The SJ's are great guitars for sure.
Now that you have had this a year it must sound even better, and it is great now. I have always played mahogany j45 guitars. Merry Christmas! Life is grand, David If we were close, I would bring you some Martin guitars to compare just for fun. I am in Kansas City
Thanks John and Merry Christmas to you! I actually just sold this guitar yesterday! Have been thinking about maybe a Martin D35 soon though. I did pickup something really special (hint: vintage Gibson) that I hope to get a video on here soon. Yes, KC is a ways away from west Michigan haha.
I prefer the sunbeams. I really enjoy the round core flexibility and the warmth that it brings. I will also use Veritas from time to time, but primarily the sunbeams are what I like best.
I really like those J-45 Deluxe a lot.. I was about to get one of the older ones when they were still Tobacco Sunburst.. (I think it was a 2010) I can't remember but I don't think the older ones have binding on the headstock. The one you have sure does sound really really good!! I ended up getting a Advanced Jumbo which is absolutely incredible. I still really prefer Mahogany back and sides though. I can't imagine I'd ever get rid of my AJ but if the right trade came around for a Hummingbird or a SJ.. lol it'd be tempting. Haha. Anyway super awesome J45 you have there!! 🤘
Thanks man. I've got a video showing an SJ, AJ and this one back to back. I actually have the Deluxe and the AJ up for sale at the moment in my reverb shop.
@@acousticmusicnthings LOL I just re-watched that video and realized I commented on it about 3 months ago. My comment on that video is very similar to the one I just left. Haha I really do want a SJ or Hummingbird (Standard) but I'm not sure I could part with my AJ for another guitar.. You're a very lucky man with the collection you have!! Super awesome!! 🤘
@@acousticmusicnthings I was just checking out your Reverb page (which I LOVE looking at Guitars on Reverb) lol Anyway.. lol I really really like the Gibson Case that comes with your AJ!!
@@acousticmusicnthings My AJ came in the Standard Ol Black Gibson case lol.. it's a 2014.. I've been wanting to buy one of the Brown Gibson cases for my AJ.. but I'm about to go look if Gibson sells that case on their website.
That is a beautiful Gibson. For the life of me, i can't understand why Gibson does not put the Baggs Anthem in these high dollar guitars. I sent a beautiful Hummingbird back because the Baggs VTC sounded horrible, and i even ran it through a Baggs Venue which i absolutely love. I have a Martin D28 With an Anthem installed it sounds amazing through my PA. I would probably buy this guitar if it came with an Anthem in it . I do a solo act , and i need the best sound possible, and the baggs VTC just does not cut it.
I completely agree. Why spend the money on a to of the line model with a sub par pickup? They should absolutely use the full Anthem in these. I think they do on the SJ200, or they did for a time.
Have done a lot of research in choosing a good acoustic 6 string. I narrowed it down to a Gibson or a Martin. Thanks to your review and others, I decided on this beauty. It sounds quite different to the classic j45, but I know that the deluxe will suit my style and music. I hope I don’t have to wait as long as you did before it arrives. Thank you very much.
Congratulations on narrowing it down, it can be a hard process when you don't have the option to play everything you're interested in. Glad these videos helped and good luck on getting yours in quickly!
It is a tough call. Both great guitars for sure. The deluxe is almost twice the cost of a standard J45. I prefer the looks of the southern jumbo but that’s just me haha. I’d say grab the J45 and then look at the Eastman E20ss/v for a killer rosewood slope shoulder. Also, if you’re looking for a killer deal, my email is in my about section and I can give you the name of the guy at Sweetwater that can work deals.
@@acousticmusicnthings thank you! Yes she’s gorgeous!! I do have the Gibson Avant Garde Rosewood burst, a Mahogany Hummingbird, and a Maple Dove. The Avant parlor guitar has become my most frequent gigging guitar since it’s lightweight and smaller. But that standard J-45 sound… I haven’t captured it in the other guitars…guess I know I need one. I also have a beauty of an L-00 with Adi top. But she’s for writing and never leaves home 😃 Just saw the Southern Jumbo has a slimmer neck than the J45. I need to try that
Ciao! My name is Daniele I write from Italy .... I like the content is interesting. Does the J-45 seem tuned half a tone below? You did it also in the comparison video with the Gibson Advanced Jumbo Historic 1936. Sorry as I write but I'm using the Google translator ... Keep it up I will continue to follow you ... Ciao
hi.. nice review.. a question.. is it really ebony fretboard... i guess deluxe came with ritchlite.... i can buy one from 2019..and it is ritchlite fretboard
Love your collection of guitars! and thanks for the review - love the sound of this Rosewood J45 deluxe!
@@IvanFazekas thanks man. It was a great guitar for sure!
Thanks. It is very difficult to find good reviews of this guitar and you did it very well.
Thank you, I appreciate that! I started this because of that exact reason!

My favorite key Eb does get the vibes going. Nice demo!
Thanks for the review! Just bought one of these. Can’t wait.
They’re great guitars. Kind of miss mine now!

@@NoUseForAName0626 yeah that case is pretty awesome. It's supposed to be period correct to the 1936, same as that AJ construction and dimensions.

Yes, they switched back to ebony in 2021
@@acousticmusicnthings oh tks.. i will wait to find another good one with ebony
Beautiful
Some of these deluxes do not have the custom shop stamp on the backside of the head - whats that about? I have a 2019 custom hummingbird deluxe
Not sure. Mine all do.
i'm also like sunburst color looks more vintage .......
Overrated guitars for the price
