Slaanesh is so fun to watch for the visuals alone. CA's artists went all out on everything - unit models, spell effects, animations. Slaaneshi knights might be the single drippiest unit in the history of WHFB.
@joeyawiki3315 They don't consistently is the issue. The unit is super weird in testing, sometimes they win solidly against expensive cav but sometimes they trade worse than seekers. I suspect it's something with the animations. Even when they do well the fights run long. 80 WS on 12 entities is very low damage, so often you skip them for the AP cav options.
@spellbound1875 Yeah, I see the discussion on Discord that they should have 110 weapon strength. And in my opinion now slaanesh doesn't have any cavalry unit that trades effectively right now which is really sad.
I do really love the dichotomy of slaanesh. Their daemons are insanely high damage and fragile, by far the most glass cannon of the 4 gods. But on the flip side slaanesh mortals are legitimately more tanky than Nurgle. They are the ultimate anvil for your high damage units to sandwich with. Plus also their copious debuffs and the lore attribute buffing MA which is the one thing whips lack. The whole army is just so synergistic and all the pieces feel like they play off each other beautifully. It's a really well designed list imo.
The fact that the whip infantry all have poison AND damage reflection makes them hands down the sturdiest Chosen in the game, perfect Anvil for the demonic Hammers of Slaanesh.
Slaanesh mortals might be more tanky at a raw melee grind, but they suffer more agaisn't ranged and charge damage in comparison to Nurgle due to not having as high hp.
Slaanesh marauders are great first tier infantry for Daniel. Those first battles, they can chew through most enemies pretty well and give you a string start. Then later on they can still make a cheap and easy to replace front line that trade well with a lot of more expensive infantry units.
@@RawCauliflower perhaps for sword and board but shield vs great weapon slaanesh are far more durable vs range with their chosen weapons. Also rember slaanesh infantry are faster to get into position and have that 5%phys resist, which isn't huge but also isn't nothing.
Daemonic Lords & Heroes desperately need the +15% Missile Resistance all the other characters have. Bringing the big scary Daemons against any shooting is so suboptimal currently.
Demons in general just need more resistances especially physical considering thats meant to be their reliance as they are squishy in pretty much every other way. Honestly believe they should have the same or close too the same as spectral units
@@justaguy-i1v remind me which ethereal unit is currently performing well? phys res is just glorified armor, magic attacks deal with it like AP damage deals with armor. and I'm gonna be honest, armor has much higher numbers in terms of actual damage reduction. What you're saying is effectively like saying a character with 7k hp and 110 armor would be broken, I'm sure there's lots of examples of completely unused characters with a similar stat profile.
@@justaguy-i1v it's not as bad as it sounds, besides the armor strengths that @fkaliases already pointed out, unit model size and animations also make up a big portion for why these demons get torn to pieces. At first I thought 15% was overkill but then I factored in most factions bring in at least some form of mobile, armor piercing / anti large unit anyway to deal with these specific threats. As much as I love to bring wulfrik up on his mammoth for example, it strangely his most glass-cannon build. On his horse, I can maneuver him easier and on foot I have more of an army to protect him with.
@@justaguy-i1v Like I had a game recently as skaven where one natty-buboe sharpshooter brought down skarbrand after like a minute or less of shooting. Why as a khorne player, would I ever bring anyone other than valkia against factions that arent bound to melee restrictions?
Good video, but the screaming of battle was competing with your voice for the more ferocious fights. Was a bit hard to make clear of what you were saying sometimes.
I've played quite a bit of Slaanesh and find it baffling that Wood Elves failed to take Hawks. Slaanesh only has Daemon Prince and Furies to answer it and the Pavane of Slaanesh which should definitely be brought if you aren't bringing Furies.
Why don't woodelves bring mass AP spears in this matchup? Seems to me they'd trade ok or at least hold most that can be thrown at them for some shadow magic etc. elite archers actually don't seem the best given the silver shields and high armor. Very interesting, wood elf stuff. Love it.
I'm certainly no expert but eternal guards don't trade that well into basic marauders. Woodelves in general rely heavily on either ranged or cavalry, bringing an elite frontline like in this replay shown rarely works unfortunately, even less against a faction which has fantastic frontline units. It's just not very cost effective for them to bring elite since theirs might have good damage but usually trades pretty badly due to being too squishy.
@@MrBlueSleeves You're talking like the first thing you'd do is to send the spears against the marauders. You realize that you have to play tactically at least a little bit.. Good showcase of the Fiends! I rarely see them in Slaneshi armies.
Which is a shame because they are super cool. But they are just so fragile for an expensive monstrous infantry.
Fiend won against every cavarly up to 1500ish point tho

9:52 that was a pretty cool animation where the fiend of slaanesh threw the war dancer up in the air and pierced her with its tail mid air
Wide Slaneesh is very good because it allows a lot of your units to be able to flank the less numerous foe, making use of the Slaneesh ability. .
