Of all of the "Why you SUCK" episodes, for some reason Slaanesh is the one I was waiting the most. Many thanks to you, Blake, for yet another informative (and entertaining) video
I only came across this channel yesterday and I must say, these are REALLY good. Extremely informative, covering something that isn't done well by any of the other large WH:TW content creators (helpful, specific campaign advice), and not only that but very entertaining to boot. You have yourself a subscriber, sir.
You're 'why you suck' series has actually helped me enjoy this game more.. instead of suck being literally clueless. Where you have a little theatrical 'flare' to the videos, for the most part they're straight to the point, and actually offer helpful advice on otherwise core mechanics of the lord/faction that I otherwise overlooked vs alot of guides that explain the backstory and dialogue (where interesting, not particularly helpful as knowing the storyline/backstory of the faction.. then still not understanding how it fundamentally works after a 30 minute video was frustrating) .. much appreciated and I hope you continue with the series
This guy just made a 40 minute long incredibly helpful guide on how to play a specific faction in warhammer 3 and then became all philosophical and starting giving legitimate critiques of our capitalist society. I love him.
@@UnholyWrath3277 Funny thing is; It goes just as far. All it took was a few seconds on a calculator and one Google search. Except the U.S. doesn't tax 60%, plus Brazil is...Brazil. Just found this series after another lost Belegar campaign. After a conversation with myself about how I don't understand why I suck so bad while playing this game, I found the You Suck series. Very fitting. 10/10, I suck, now I get to learn why. Good on ya.
Tbh i never understood people complaining about the lack of armoured units in the Slaaneshi Rooster. Sure, having that "anvil" makes it a lot easier but found out that playing slaanesh timing and patience is everything. The Deamonettes are the fastest infantry unit in the game and u can us them as ur "anvil" simply by feinting attacks. Basicly building a front line, moving towards the enemy line and then retreat, dragging the enemy lines apart, encircle them and then take them out piece by piece. Really love their playstyle and ofc great video :)
to be fair, i wouldnt suck with nkaari if he didnt start his dash attack before getting in range and ending it right infront of the enemy. (is this still a thing? i havent touched him in months, but nkaari has touched me)
I've always found his animation set to be awesome, like that sweeping dash attack gives me two attacks inside of a second, and with N'kari's MA he doesn't often miss those, if you've to whitstealer, it cuts their health in half most of the time, and then they route, and die damn fast.
Bro, make one for Azazel please. I really don't understand why would you need warriors of Slaanesh at all when demons of Slaanesh do literally everything better besides taking a hit which is sort of pointless because then warriors of undivided can hold better than Slaanesh ones.
@@heistingcrusader_ad3223 They'd already sold Sigvald as an undivided lord and they couldn't very well take him back and sell him one more time. They also couldn't repurpose Sigvald because people with the old Warriors of Chaos DLC might not buy Champions of Chaos and thus wouldn't have access to the units that an updated Siggy would more or less depend on. What's truly maddening, though, is that Azazel and Siggy cannot confederate. Frankly, CA should have done something so the chaos factions could unite properly.
I actually greatly enjoy Warriors of Slaanesh, and consider them a staple in any Slaanesh army. They provide a sturdy frontline unit that Slaanesh desperately needed, and make flanking the enemy considerably easier.
I'd add that vassalizing minor factions is often a waste and going after the big ones (Yvresse is always good) works wonders as they have a bonus in auto-resolve against minor factions, which is how the AI fights battles.
That's actually something I had in my notes to put in! definitely correct, legendary lords as vassals are very helpful, all other ones are garbage (apart from Saphery - just because you can get them quickly.)
I disagree. Even the minor ones are good as you can use the low tier stacks they make to capture settlements, support your troops and more importantly, pump out 2 disciple armies, so one stack is always 3 stacks. More allegiance, more troops. Also that vassal money is sweet.
Excellent video, Keeper of takes! However, as a Slaanesh enjoyer myself, i noticed quite a few things you missed: 1) Disciple armies can be spawned by army and have a cooldown of 15 when staying in one province, but 5 if you don't. So you can build cheap marauder spam lords to patrol and spawn free full stacks repeatedly. But there's more, and that's so cheesy it's borderline exploit - you can recruit a new lord, give him all of the units and cooldown of previous lord won't matter and you can make one or even more armies PER TURN PER LORD you set the route to. Absolute Slaanesh tide! 2) Slaanesh lacks recruiting capabilities, so setting outposts early with HE down the way you unlock basically free 2 local recruitment slots up to 4 units. Extremely useful when you need fast army early on. Also good anvil as spearmen are decent in holding the line. 3) Corruption makes your disciple armies stronger, so maxing corruption skill is a must in this situation. Also helps to unlock more manifestations, which are extremely useful apart from second one. 4)PO is simply not true on legendary difficulty, where the actual fun shines on Slaanesh: less PO means more money to make from buildings. Also SoK is more beneficial to your faction than every other faction in the game, as it helps to get the negatives going. 5)I don't like shrines, as they are very big, slow and can be shoot quite easily. A matter of preference, but a worthy one. **6**) dId yOu kNoW you can disband cultists that you spawned your cult with, rebuild the atelier building and gain essentially 2 ready to settle cultists? 7) For N'kari i like to go to the end of a blue line before taking his(yes) unique skill line, because replenishment, upkeep, seduce budget, movement range and lighting strike are quite useful. After renowned and feared i start taking unique skills. 8) Portals don't give growth as much as bastion buildings, also they give lots of building cost reduction for your eco buildings. 9) One chaos sorcerer is enough to reduce your tech researches by 1 turn simply by agent actions. Keep in mind while rushing the building to unlock the +25 devotees tech. 10)Seduce budget is busted in AR if you do it right: if you know how it generally works, you can turn decisive defeats into victories at ease: try to seduce maximum experinced units, as they give lots of AR bonus. Also you can strip away the strengths of army being lots of good frontline, few fast cavalry or elite monster that keeps everything at bay.
These are some excellent tips. You're darn tootin about the recruitment issues in the early game. Hadn't thought about getting early helf auxillaries - so that's a spicy one. Even with SoK at max, I just never saw PO issues - I play on VH though as a standard. I just find legendary has a steep bullshit to fun ratio (oh look, everyone of your neighbours have declared war on you at once and they all have 3 full stacks and you've just got a half stack of chaff kind of way.) forced to min max a bit too much for my taste. Hot take about the blue line. I went for a bit of a whacky build on this playthrough, picking up his speed and spells Great comment really enjoyed reading it.
there is a he faction that starts friendly and corrupted, get a defensive alliance (or vassalize) and you can build an outpost and use it to recruit spearmen@@MrNavetse
@@MrNavetse all high elf vassals that you get via subjugating early on can be used to build outposts to increase your local recruitment capabilities and also get your units for frontline like spearmen, or good archer like lothern sea guard. Or even fast units like eagles or cavalry. You can get lots of the outposts since you will have a lot of money from sacking and lots of slaves go build it upint
Proliferate cults is actually amazing if you get a good roll. I managed to get a cult in Cathay which would've taken ages to get to otherwise. I then was able to vassalise Miao Ying and get a boatload of money from her.
It certainly can be, but in the early game when devotees are scarce I'd advise against it because of the RNG. Later on when devotees aren't an issue, I spam it on cooldown.
I'm glad your WH guides get so many views, you deserve waaaayyy more subs for the quality of content you produce. Here's to your continued success my dude!
For armies, I went for Cultist + other heroes stacks, I had four own armies, cultists won't ever die as their melee defence is 80 to 90 when leveled up. Use those to summon Disciple armies whenever you can, then use your allies to maximum effect and make them spawn disciple armies also. Use all your cultists to give the gift of slaanesh to all your allied armies, so they will generate devotees and corrupt the areas for you. After the tech which gives you 25 disciples per gift, you never run out of devotees. I didn't train any normal troops usually, just heroes, and chaff, with a full stack disciple army in every city of Ulthuan. Most of battles are done with disciple armies which are free. Only problem in the endgame is that you have gazillion disciple armies and it comes tedious to use them all, and at least my game slowed down to halt in campaign map due to all the disciple and allied armies. Use cultists, I sent my first to Averlorn and had it subjucated on turn 20, after that your western flank is secured mostly.
Nice guide, i have been waiting for a slanesh video for months and here it is. Thanks Blake for your content and piece of advice. It really helps the community out.
Man's has assisted my intellectually challenged mind figure this super-task of a game out in many ways. Would love to hear more about how I suck with every faction
For cultist creating cults in settlement, in the beginning always make the cult that raises the amount of cultists, late game you should spawn a cultist, use it to make a cult, then disband it if it doesn't have confident or discipled or sleek. Also you can make any amount of Cultists from one settlement, you just trash the cultsist building and next turn make a new one, so you can make cults all around that settlement. And if you disband your bad cultists after they made a cult, you have the cap so that it always spawns new cultist. I took out most of the northern map with just sending cultists there, then making more cultists, then making a disciple army in small settlements, then re-culting the settlement so if I couldn't take it, i could get a new cultist at least. Strike the unwalled settlements there and you get almost endless amount of small allies which will hamper the other chaos factions' plans as they have to send stacks to deal with them. Then if they take your settlements, just spawn more armies to take the small towns and they are in a limbo of having to take those back.
@@BlakesTakes420 great time to subscribe, I love the way you why you suck “guides” don’t just tell you want to do for 20 turns but are in fact tips to help you improve at the faction and even spill over to general game play. An example I loved was skarsnik and the piles of shiny stuff making income back in a single turn. Keep up the good work Mr Blake and hope you enjoyed my take.
I often find myself phasing out foot troops entirely in my late game slaanesh armies. Chaos knights of slaanesh are a capable front line themselves while being fast enough that they dictate the terms of engagement. 4 - 6 chaos knights and 2 fiends can pin a front line in place easily long enough for the chariots and heartseekers to take their flanking positions I find
Proliferate Cults is surprisingly useful I've found. After all, it's like performing a little preparation before you get to the main course, and by stretching these cults out across the world it can ensure that as many as possible fall to decadence and depravity
best advanced guides on youtube Things I'd like to add: 1. Chariots are not needed in your armies if you don't like to micro so you can ski them entirely 2. Doing cycle charges is the best but also not necessary your armies are so fast and deadly at killing the battle will be over in seconds even on very hard 3. It is good to pick vassals that like each other. Vassals who are not friendly with you might refuse to fight in your wars thus diminishing their usefulness. For example having both HE and DE vassals might cause one or the other to refuse your calls to war. Having DE and Chaos factions could work better especially when they share enemies.
Hot takes - enjoyed reading them. Agree about the cycle charging - they did often buckle under the first charge, but if you have a particularly stalwart enemy like dwarves to hack through then it's good to get into the habit early.
Awesome, never played slaanesh so I will follow this whenever I get to them. I just never had the chance haha. What about chorfs next considering their unique economy and units/army comps?
What a nice birthday gift, a fresh hot take from the ol' hot Blake! Hot enough to actually make myself consider giving my least favourite Chaos God's faction a try, so well done there! Speaking of, those well-timed jump scares got a snort out of me each time they appeared. So three snorts! Anyways, I may lay myself to bed now, this was a good watch to simmer down with. Even though I am craving for some kind of pasta dish now... But that'll be for future me to worry about, good night!

Such a fun series :) I was asking for Slaanesh video some time ago ;) thank you so much... got my sub ;) keep those coming... would love to see you aproach to some other factions
N'Kari can't get through blobs because they're too distracted by the glorious pleasure brought by pain! Shame it ends up banishing them back to the chaos realms usually...
S-tier guide! I’ve been bouncing around between the different factions trying them out, but I think you’ve convinced me to go all the way with Slaanesh (boom phrasing😂)
I just got back to this video preparing for my first slaanesh playthrough. And this video really is great. Both for the actual advice - but also because it help perpetuate the lore and feel of slaanesh - playing tww is in part a rpg experience and I am now hyped for the faction :-D
Re: Chariots, I find that you don't want to actually tell them to attack units, but rather to just move through enemy units such as infantry. Their mass and speed allows them to send individual models flying, and it hits chunks off their hp. I'm not sure if that's just devastating flanker at work here, I suspect there is additional damage being applied just because individual models have been flung so far out of coherency for want of a better term.
Correct, but they can be a lot to micro when you're already microing your cav, Nkari and spellcasters. For ease of use I'd stick to cav. Chariots are very good but only if you can multitask well, they're v fragile.
A fun trick is ressurecting dead races as Vassals. Example, by the time I went to war with Tyrion, he had already wiped out Saphery. When I took Saphery's capitol back from Tyrion, I was given the option to ressurect them as a vassal. Neither Warrior of Chaos (Sigvald nor Azazel) can do this...only N'Kari.
@@BlakesTakes420 I concur, unless my goal is to just vassal blob lol. But yes Saphery may have been how I learned about it, but Saphery is a useless trash faction. Wouldn't recommend them. Also it is something to keep in mind while taking territories. The order in which you do it could matter. For instance, if the unlikely happens and Tyrion kills Alarielle, and you want them both as vassals, you need to consider not leaving her capitol for last when taking Tyrion down, or you will be forced to choose one, instead of getting both of them.
I am a veteran of Total War and in Warhammer, Slaanesh is my fav faction, but I must admit I honestly didn't know how to play N'Kari. Thank you for this Vid.
I’m confused regarding the small anvil bit. I thought that spreading your units wide, would make the enemies line thinner, so that your charge can hit them easier from behind.
You haven't mentioned one of the most important thing - Warriors of Slaanesh are so absurdaly powerful in autoresolve that you basically feel no challenge in the mid and late campaign if you use them.
Working on Slaanesh Long Victory now. I can appreciate that Slaanesh is no Tzeentch, constantly changing and ruining perfectly crafted poxes. Neither are they Khorne, casing mass death with no beauty. If anyone is a perfect partner in crime, it is Slaanesh. Grandfather will spead his love to the enraptured followers of excess.
i don't have the same cult building VS. the one you show at 25:41 - Mine has the same icon but it called 'lure of slaanesh' - faction updated since this video or i missed something?
I disagree with not going to negative in control in provinces, it's easy to manage with buildings, so all of my provinces were at -50 almost always. Also I don't use cultists in the warshrine, chaos sorcerers are better as they can heal themselves when casting so they can shrug off missile damage.
one thing i feel you didnt mention was with the vassal mechanic. At a certain point(usually lategame) ur vassals will refuse to join wars with you when u are attacking or are attacked depending on who is attacking and how strong they are, good example elves will have very low attitude towards you especially cuz u have war with their brethren which will leave your standing in tatters in my exp and severely lessens vassals usefulness. Overall great video tho really enjoy your takes!
this might have changed since the newest patch but i played a Nakari campaign prior to latest release and the HE vassals i had refused to go to war in late game when i was declared war on by the empire/dawi i believe due to my standing being like -200/-300 with said vassals factions @@BlakesTakes420
I spent the first many battles in that campaign soloing almost everything with just N'kari. They are completely dominant over melee infantry, the only problem is archers, but if you just dodge arrows and attack archery units first, N'kari can kill 1500 units in a battle without help from their army. It takes a crapton of tedious micro though.
Wow, I never expected this faction to have so much Micro managing, it's quite appealing to me. I like the idea of coordinating multiple hit and run strikes and flanks, cycling multiple units in a Flurry of Charges; A Dance for Slaanesh. I'll definitely give em a shot now.
reading description of a lot of Slaanesh things... it sounds very... modern XD Like, you have consumerism as a researchable technology XD Like, I have feeling modern office drone will not find any unfamiliar secrets there.

"Devastating Flanker" - Basically, Slaanesh is alllll about that surprise from behind...if ya' know what I mean. Giggety! I even think the devs were joking about this when they programmed Slaanesh units this way.

Holy moly, im new coming over from WH2. I slept on Slaanesh due to the squishy speed did not seem that fun. But im having a blast! I was slow with starting to spread cults. But daym, they snowball fast.
First time I see any useful advice regarding deeper Slaanesh mechanics. A faction that is different from pretty much anything we've seen before in TW, yet 'everybody' expects to play it the same point and click as everything else, misses the point and doesn't get a satisfying click - and like in all of TW diplomacy - blames the faction for what ever happens. In my first Slaanesh game once I kind of got the gist of it I thought I was doing something wrong because it was so easy to dominate and there were even more Slaaneshi mechanics to discover and use. A problem with that faction is that the research tree and building tree are a bit tricky in regard to what they say they do, compared to what they actually do. With most other races the description is 1:1 what happens, but with Slaanesh it is sometimes difficult to know if what is advertized happens to you or to your neighbour. I've seen it in a couple of buildings and some research regarding corrupion which talk about spread of such. According to the description you should spread corruption, yet the game makes a difference between cult corruption and demonic corruption and doesn't say which is which. Sometimes corruption only seems to spread under certain circumstances and so on. If that was clearer I think more people would enjoy Slaanesh more.
And the number of times thou shalt say the word correctly is 3. No more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt say, and the number of the saying shall be three. Four shalt thou not say, neither say thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. 28:32 song link? Then i would truly be happy...
My issue with Slaanesh is that as soon as you need to siege a city your army comp is basically completely voided. "Strong flankers with no armour" struggle when they are chokepointed into narrow city streets with the trademark Total War movement pathing jank... By the time you even reach the gates your army is 50% HP from missile barrages alone. Better yet actually entering the city.

Has anyone realised one of the better way to play Slaanesh is to flank the enemies from behind? Im sure the devs made it intentional lol 😘

The Slanneshi 🐓
to be fair, i wouldnt suck with nkaari if he didnt start his dash attack before getting in range and ending it right infront of the enemy. (is this still a thing? i havent touched him in months, but nkaari has touched me)
I can confirm his animations are a bit janky still. Nothing game breaking, but could definitely be annoying.
it's an intended way for him to charge because he uses a unique counter-charge instead.
I'll hope to make one on him soon sir.
I do wonder why they put in Azazel when they already have Sigvald
@@Monochromatic_Spider CA is currently looking into cross-faction confederations, so better late than never I guess.
Mate the video quality and the special effects with the voice are so good! Amazing to see your skillset grow!! Keep it up.
Thank you for your long-standing viewership and support ❤️
Excellent video, Keeper of takes!
However, as a Slaanesh enjoyer myself, i noticed quite a few things you missed:
1) Disciple armies can be spawned by army and have a cooldown of 15 when staying in one province, but 5 if you don't.
I went for a bit of a whacky build on this playthrough, picking up his speed and spells
Great comment really enjoyed reading it.
Could you further explain Number 2? Didnt quite got that.
there is a he faction that starts friendly and corrupted, get a defensive alliance (or vassalize) and you can build an outpost and use it to recruit spearmen@@MrNavetse
@@cathulionetharn5139 i see, thank you.
Aren’t you supposed to succ as Slaanesh?

Awesome guide. I've run so many campaigns in warhammer 3 I've lost count but never could get into slaanesh - this has totally opened the door.
Feast on the delights of this world.
I had a similar thing with cultist fatigue in fairness - becomes a pain to manage them all

You're not intellectually challenged, you're beautiful baby.
Excellent video, this is the one I was looking forward to the most

Showing up to tell you I took this advice and went from not being able to play to owning the west as a demon of love. BT you’re the best :)

The title of this particular video in the series got that double meaning.
It's a good shout. I do like a bit of infantry for their strength in sieges, but whole cav armies are definitely strong in the field.
fair. i just cheese the sieges or brute force them with disciple armies where cheese isn't an option myself
@@simonbas6 I think it'd because the AI love to hide in cities, so I find myself always sieging :(
The disciple armies are fantastic meat shields.
Proliferate Cults is surprisingly useful I've found. After all, it's like performing a little preparation before you get to the main course, and by stretching these cults out across the world it can ensure that as many as possible fall to decadence and depravity
best advanced guides on youtube
Things I'd like to add:
1. Chariots are not needed in your armies if you don't like to micro so you can ski them entirely
2. Doing cycle charges is the best but also not necessary your armies are so fast and deadly at killing the battle will be over in seconds even on very hard
Another Blake banger. Thanks for the vid!

I find it's only useful if its a legendary lord faction
@@BlakesTakes420 I concur, unless my goal is to just vassal blob lol. But yes Saphery may have been how I learned about it, but Saphery is a useless trash faction. Wouldn't recommend them. Also it is something to keep in mind while taking territories. The order in which you do it could matter. For instance, if the unlikely happens and Tyrion kills Alarielle, and you want them both as vassals, you need to consider not leaving her capitol for last when taking Tyrion down, or you will be forced to choose one, instead of getting both of them.
You see I'll always kill Tyrion because I want the whole province of Lothern - it's just too valuable not to have it all.
@@BlakesTakes420 fair, though it was just an example. Could substitute any LL in both slots for what I was trying to say.

I’m confused regarding the small anvil bit.
I thought that spreading your units wide, would make the enemies line thinner, so that your charge can hit them easier from behind.
You haven't mentioned one of the most important thing - Warriors of Slaanesh are so absurdaly powerful in autoresolve that you basically feel no challenge in the mid and late campaign if you use them.
yeah armour is overbuffed in Auto-resolve
Working on Slaanesh Long Victory now. I can appreciate that Slaanesh is no Tzeentch, constantly changing and ruining perfectly crafted poxes. Neither are they Khorne, casing mass death with no beauty. If anyone is a perfect partner in crime, it is Slaanesh. Grandfather will spead his love to the enraptured followers of excess.
i don't have the same cult building VS. the one you show at 25:41 - Mine has the same icon but it called 'lure of slaanesh' - faction updated since this video or i missed something?
Yep they changed all the cult buildings in the last patch
@@BlakesTakes420 so it's almost impossible to seduce factions with a lot of settlements (i.e. LL/playable factions)?

I didn't notice any of my vassals refuse to join wars.
this might have changed since the newest patch but i played a Nakari campaign prior to latest release and the HE vassals i had refused to go to war in late game when i was declared war on by the empire/dawi i believe due to my standing being like -200/-300 with said vassals factions @@BlakesTakes420
Starting a N'kari campaign, last one didn't go so hot, thanks for the tips and wish me luck with the damn elves.
I wish you good fortune in the wars to come.

Holy moly, im new coming over from WH2. I slept on Slaanesh due to the squishy speed did not seem that fun. But im having a blast!
I was slow with starting to spread cults. But daym, they snowball fast.
Good man for trying them out.
Yo i was looking firward to your next video 😂. Here it is!

Yeah it's a pain. Luckily you have disciple armies to tank the hits for you.
N'Kari has the best ambush line. It says "surprise"!
I didn't notice that this campaign!
Oh my god, i had no idea the dutch were at your doorstep.
Yet, that is what you get for inconviniencing noble shoeboxes with stinky dogs :S
NOT SO LOUD!!!
They're onto me
