By any chance where would someone be able to get the rest of this performance. I recently attended an exhibit at UCLA that featured Chicano artistic expressions in LA and this video was featured. Show as awesome! Would love to see the rest of it again!
@@hovz-zo8lf Yeah I think a lot of it too was just plain ignorance. Those were different times. Different attitudes. A lot of people were scared to go to East L.A. back then. Even “big tough punkers”. They thought they were gonna get shot or stabbed as soon as they crossed the river. I think maybe there was a tiny bit of truth to that, but I don’t think it was anywhere near as bad as the stigma had everyone thinking it was. Sure there were gangs or whatever, but as long as you didn’t act like an idiot or f**k with them, it typically wasn’t a problem. And yes, bald-faced racism was another factor. Unfortunately there were more than a few boneheads who thought punk was supposed to be a “whites-only” affair, but fortunately those jackoffs weren’t representative of the majority of punks. However there were enough of them to be a problem. That problem grew larger later on after hardcore took over the suburbs.
I always thought that I wish that my parents could have afforded to send me to Catholic School. Maybe I would have had an easier first year in college. She didn't know how good she had it. Anyway, I still have their EP from the early 80s.
Sorry for the miss spelling just that this really pisses me off!! Im sure it was hard out there for bands like The Brat to be accepted. Especially in hollywood where the majority of musicians are trust fund babies claiming to be living the rock&roll life. What a joke! rock on ! lets show these rip offs how we in East Los do it! oh! and a big F to the music industry which is finally getting what they deserve, long over due!
Yes!!! 213!!!! 1980!!! This band made me feel PROUD TO BE HISPANIC!!!
You would be very surprised, as a white guy in LA I'm kinda a minority in punk. There is a heavy Hispanic punk scene, especially in East Los...
It's called "High School" off the "Attitudes" EP released in 1981.
the sound is amazing! thanx for posting this :)
