Yes absolutely I agree slow down and have a bit of patience, goes a long way, there was one model that was a pain in the arse, that was a Renault 5 by italeri my god nothing seemed to fit on the thing but it came good in the end and I put my stamp on it and it look ok
@@stevenb9216 I have a few kits around that I think are going to be difficult and that is why I haven't started them. Lol. Still, always a good feeling when you finish knowing you worked your way through the hassles.
Yeah I'm just the same I've just built a Chevy Bel air, it was a piece off piss 😂 a snaptite kit. Fastest one I've ever done. I'm happy with the finish on it though, by my standards anyway
I am sure that is quite likely. AMT and Revell both did kits of this and I believe the molds were shared with many of the other companies as well, both variants. I am not sure which one is better and this one may have been so bad just because it was part of this 3 pack set that I got but who knows. I love this car, I still want to get the Aoshima version and try it and just hope it is a better kit.
Thanks for the kind words. Lucky the camera can make it look better than it is. Haha. It is OK, for sure not my best work. I really gave up half way through the build.
It was a nice build nonetheless - you did a lot with it. The kit actually has more engine bay detail than the Revell one I made. I've never built an AMT kit - are they all like this?
I really didn't mind the chassis or the interior of this kit to be honest, it was the body that was a pure wash. The engine bay is OK but still looks pretty bad under the bonnet in the back. It requires a lot of scratch building to make it half decent. I have done many AMT kits and enjoyed them for the most part. You can check my channel for an AMT Playlist and you will see that I have build more AMT than any other manufacturer so far. This one is by far the worst yet. They are not great but I find for the most part they are quite fun.
@@ScaleAutoGarage yeah I could tell. It's a shame because for us car modellers, the bodywork is like 99% of what our builds are judged by. I've never seen an AMT kit on sale in the UK but I bet there are some independent shops which do stock them.
Problem with AMT is their current distribution is in the US so any kind of import makes them quite expensive. I have seen them on Japanese sites and they are far more then I would want to pay for them. Most of the ones I have I bought from ebay where they are usually $20 or less so it is not a huge investment even with shipping and of course, if you are buying several at a time then shipping is actually pretty good. I use model car mountain on ebay for older kits as they have great prices and a huge inventory and then shipping to Canada is not bad. Buying AMT new is about $35 US a piece so yeah, they aren't cheap for sure. Still they have a lot of cars that no other manufacture has done so you take the good with the bad.
@@ScaleAutoGarage I like to have built at least one of every major brand (I've made way more Heller kits than most sane people!) So I will keep a look out for them. I've been put off from ordering from North America as it seems so expensive for delivery. Decals are the only thing I have bought though.
I hear that. There are many European brands I haven't had a chance yet, heller, italeri, belkits, airfix (but I don't think they do cars) and several other brands I want to have a go of, USCP, nunu,..and so on. Let's just say now is a good time to be a kit builder with all the great things available out there, both old and new.
Yes true, love all your models btw, I build myself mostly aoshima and fujimi and mostly Japanese too lol, I'm no where near as good as you but I'm getting better, keep up the good work, 👌
@@stevenb9216 thank you so much for the kind words. I find that watching others on UA-cam has helped my own build process a lot as well as just having some patience sometimes. I used to just rush rush rush and that just leads to mistakes. Lol.
Thanks for saying! I appreciate it. I really was excited to build this and then my disappointment was just devastating. 😂 Ah well, any experience can be good experience right? Hahaha
Have you ever built a kit that you absolutely hated? Let me know what that kit was!

@CeaserSalad another amt kit, I am feeling a trend. 😅
Very nice!
Thank you.
Although this isn’t a high quality kit, you did a great job building it up. I enjoyed watching this video a lot. Keep it up Spence!
Thanks for saying Jun. It wasn't a great build but the video did seem to come together nicely. Glad you enjoyed it.
Hay Jun’s mini garage.
The one model car that came to mind is amt’s 1955 corvette the only issue that bugs me is the rear wheels are a bit close to the rear wheel arch.
Totally understand that frustration.
Yup 👍 that’s for sure.
Awesome video and build as always brother!
Thanks for your support Shawn.
@@ScaleAutoGarage your welcome my brother!
Another nice one!
Hey thanks Brian for watching. Appreciate it.
Nice, 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
I found that one 3n1 kit on eBay some how.
Yes it should be easy to find on ebay.
Yes yes indeed.
This was a re-box of the old ESCI kit wasn't it? I have the ESCI on the bench now, and it appears to be the same.

I smashed the like button :))
Awesome video :)
Awesome!!! Thanks for watching.
You took a mediocre kit and made it look good. Nice work!!!

There it goes, my favorite sports exotic car, now, it’s not a high quality kit, very well.
Diablo has always been one of my favorites also.
Sweet another build, but I feel your pain when it comes especially to older amt kits, but thanks for the another build video
Thanks for your sympathy. Haha. Mush of this kit really felt like it was not fully thought through. Lol.
You did the best with what you had ,👌 the kit is like a replica lambo, if that's what they were going for they got it spot on 😁
Haha indeed. Now if it was on a fiero frame it would indeed be perfect.

They have their share of headaches, no question there. This one is just pathetic.
I built the same kit..it's a piece of crap but you did a good job
