old school junglist... an inspiration for sure. thanks for sharing this knowledge with the world Bizzy B
Luv your tutorial. I am a ORIGINAL JUNGLIST from '92 and have produced a few Demos. I started back in '88 on a Akai S950, using Cubase with it and a Roland TB-303, and Boss DR-550 Drum machine. Recently I bought PropellorHead Reason with Akai midi keyboard but, soon it has to be Ableton Live 11 and when I obtain the DAW keep your eyes 👀 and ears aware. I have some Fresh Drum break chopping tricks that will re-light the Jungle Genre. Dj General Tee.... Watch ⌚ this space. 🙈 🙉 🙊
Very interesting hearing about the old days, hope you share more old school tricks and stories in future videos. You definitely got the 94 style back here.
I love this. I started chopping the amens in exactly the same way but I started off later using mod plug tracker.
Amazing... thank you. Have been trying for the last year to cut amen breaks right, and this just blew all that away by a long shot.
This is incredible. Awesome to see old techniques still being used in a modern workflow. Amazing.
You are a legendary musician, Brian! Thank you so much all your music and for these vids too!
I remember doing the exact same stuff back in the mid 90's but with fast tracker II. Thanks for the nostalgia trip :)
Best jungle and oldskool workflow videos around! Super charismatic way of presenting them too, top!🙌🏽
Thank you so much for this great tutorial! Amen!
Thank you, Brian!
Love these videos!
Loving the videos bruv
Thank you for sharing this!! Amazing work!!!
My pleasure!
Best Renoise Tutorials on UA-cam. Thanks a lot!
sick vid dude. You make it sound easy 🔥🔥🔥
more old skool tutorials please bizzy b , true enlightening ... great videos
Superb love it
808 Thumbs up. Cheers Bizzy.
This is great.
Awesome! So you resample to smooth out the timing of the shuffle and snare fills.
Big fan of the channel, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
big up bro!
Love that Beyerdynamic 990, got a 770 myself can NOT live without 'em peace
Thanks for the tutorial m8!
I love the Amen Break!!! :D
FYI the bitcrunch dsp is called lofi. If you run at 4x that tempo, put an off before every slice, nice manual gating for tightening. That kinda linespeed is not for everyone though
remember guys. run your samples though your analog mixer first and then run your pre master back though your mix to something recording !!!!!
great job man, getting wisdom teachings here.
More to come , thanks
Helpful slicing tips. Not too many, chunky, shuffles!
Awesome tutorial mate
Cool video! The bitcrusher in renoise is called lo-fi mat I think
awesome :)
THX
hi, brian, i don't have the "render slices to phrase" option, i am using renoire 2.8.0, is there any other way? thanks
Salute

Yo dude I honestly didnt know you were Bizzy B. Your track Ecstacy is a Science is my favouritetrack if yours. I don't make strictly jungle more techno. But just wondered what equipment you used to use in the 90s as i want ti aquire some. Thinking about the Roland w30 to get that crunchy sampled sound.
i still chop up all breakbeats like that. Recycle is like the mp3, its close but not perfect.
what program is being used
hey brian thx for your video, very interesting how to produce true jungle breaks.i got the akai mpc renaissance,do you think the akai sequencer is good to produce jungle??
or do i need renoise??
your mpc and the software it came with it is all you need man, i have both renoise and mpc, i prefer the mpc for making music like this the workflow is much easier and it just conmes together quicker than renoise, if your going to run renoise i think a proper drum machine is needed with it, probably an analog or ive hooked up my old mpd 32 and it works good,
Hey brian, been watching and watching this over and over. Cant work out how to change the 'phrase' into the rendered sample up top right? Also after making the phrase, keyboard triggers only play the individual pieces rather than rolling the loop at the correct time in different octaves. Any help appreciated cheers. Lee.
same here you find a fix??
When a sample is it's own 'instrument' slot and it has no splices, it will default it's original pitch at C4 then automatically adjust for every other pitch you trigger.
Nice! Is there anywhere I can find any of your tracks?
Nice! You really keep that Jungle vibe alive!
You seem to have a good grasp on Jungle, could you check out my Jungle tracks if you have time? It would be really appreciated!

Great vid thanks : ) question for ya though at 4:34 after creating the phrase you play it up the keys and it increases in pitch but the tempo stays the same. i cannot figure this out! can you shed any light mate? cheers ears
When a sample is it's own 'instrument' slot and it has no splices, it will default it's original pitch at C4 then automatically adjust for every other pitch you trigger.
Thanks for the tutorial. Just a bit of help needed in replicating what you do from 4:24. When I play different keys, from computer keyboard, it plays slices. Assume that is normal. Clicking on keys on the screen, it plays the loop, just not at different pitches?
i think i have identified the problem. The original sample doesn't have an entire octave to itself. it just gets mapped next to the others. So how do i fix that?
When a sample is it's own 'instrument' slot and it has no splices, it will default it's original pitch at C4 then automatically adjust for every other pitch you trigger.
Brian while playing the individual slices my sampler jumps to only showing the individual hits and not the whole wave form (I'm in renoise 3.1) how can I see the whole wave while adjusting slices. Also my render to phrase does not seem to be working correctly anybody having this same issue?
click the buttom to the right of Samples in the top left
What did you do at the end there when you hit D and everything pitched down? Thanks!
octave down down shift
Where do I get these breaks , I just downloaded renoise
www.sampleoidz.com
Hi mate, when I press C1/C2.. it doesnt put the original sample on octave c4 and split the rest from c5? Can u help? Proper stuck haha, thanks x
same here, any joy in working it out?
@@GregDixson Yes In 'Keyzones' Clicks the little dropdown next to Drumkit in the top right. Select First Octave for Transposing. Also in the 'Phrases' window, you need to have the ## icon next to the sample turned on!
Hey Bizzy, what did people used to use back in the day too chop up the amen and re arrenge it like you have just done in renoise? You mentioned about the AKAI and more being used to sample but was curious about the actually chopping up etc? Thanks man
People would use rackmount samplers to sample and to chop.
Yesterday it was Veterans Day in the states. I was off work. This was all I did. I have a lot of break collection I bought like Xstatic Gold sample pack from 91? U have to sample old school on that because it's not acid bpmd. I never was into sample based music but not anymore. Ur an inspiration brother. Believe me. As a Renoise user of 5 years, this gives me flexibility. I haven't used the synthesizer but sampling my packs and UA-cam lol
can you send me some stems? dm me
That was wicked!!!!! Tyvm.
You look a bit like bukem but sound like Remarc
Old school = calculator 😜
tracker.
I wish u would use ableton
