You can get good results sending breaks into a second mixer channel (basically parallel processing) then roll some of the bottom end off and add a transient shaper to really bring the peaks out. From there you can saturate heavily and do whatever else you fancy, stick another eq on to tame anything you dont like, then blend the signal back in. Great for controlling the crunch on the break, and the transient shaper makes a big difference.
one of my fave things to do with breaks, is miss-use the "de-esser" (renoise as its own one) and you adjust the different EQ bands on it and all sorts, you can get all sorts of unique tones for your breaks

great stuff as usual... have you got any idea how i export all the individual samples of an existing module? specifically old amiga modules... loads of modules but dunno how to pull out individual samples and save them all
