NEW MUSICAL EXPRESS (U.K) Review by Andy Gill (1986):
"Glad Music" has convinced me that R. Stevie Moore is a genius of a rare order, with the ability to marshall a bewildering diversity of styles and influences and mould them into something quite peculiarly his own. He's one of the few practitioners of post-modernist cross-pollination with the wit and sheer taste to produce a worthy hybrid. Buy this record and make him a tax exile."
SOUNDS (U.K) Review by Jack Barron (1986):
"Glad Music is Stevie's first proper studio project to date. Up until now, so far as I can recall, his albums have been splattered with the low-tech efforts that he puts out by the hundreds via his cassette club. I once said that Stevie was the Black Hole of pop music, and that holds true on this album which traipses through metal, country, psychedelia and what have you."

What an absolute dude.
He's a low key neighbourhood rockstar.
How the fuck was this recorded in 1978? Moore is so influential that his early material sounds like a modern indie record.
the "Impossible impossible" part is such a fucking JAMMER dude
hell yeah
i be rolling in my fucking boots during that part
This whole song is a banger.
I'm just discovering r stevie moore, and i am in amazement at his genius. he breezes from one genre to another, all while having his own distinct sound. i'm not outraged that he's not more famous, I'm just glad i found him!
Big Ween fan here that was just directed to this performer and 2 am glad I found him.
This song is making me rethink my life a little bit.
How’s life going now?
@@buggyking2523 ^
well, I hope.
@@MintBiscuit Indeed.
Back when taping was the way to do it
Not only is this song a banger 40 years on but this music video with its raw, unedited, candid footage doesn't look at all out of place in today's world of spontaneous smart phone recordings. R. Stevie Moore is a cultural prophet.
really makes you ask how much changed from then to now. makes me appreciate the little things
@@bigtuffgulchfan408 You know what they say: the more things change the more they stay the same 😄
this dude nailed Soundcloud and UA-cam aesthetic almost forty years before their inception.
"You're wonderful!"
"Thank you, I'm aware of that!"
Made me giggle.
where is that?

When I went to Mortville in Chicago a few years ago to see an R. Stevie Moore show, I walked in to find him sprawled out on the floor, rolling around on top of a cardboard box speaking gibberish.
that's what he does to get in the mood to sing. tried and true ritual that works for him.
I am smoking a blunt and reading this made me cackle...this made me rethink my artistry entirely

i think r stevie moore's ''problem'' is he is not married to me.
Everytime I listen to this song it just gives me an overwhelmingly fresh spring feel. Glad Music is a great album as well, I’m really happy I found that essay.
Love how R. Stevie never seemed to have really left his childhood. I also still run around at playgrounds and would be proud to do so until I die. This world got enough serious and sour people already.
Lucky lady, men can't do that without being framed as evil.
All of a sudden Ariel Pink doesn’t seem so original, I find myself speechless at how amazing this is
Screw that clown! I’m in love with this track
@@WoahthereIan you know ariel and R Stevie are good friends right?
@@trevorlemon9006 I know. I’ve just been disheartened from finding out that Ariel is a neo-fascist. Now I can enjoy the original inspiration
@@WoahthereIan lmao. Fair enough fellow human
@@WoahthereIan It's like Ariel doesn't understand that the people at these dumb rallies he goes to are purposefully looking for people who look like him to beat up.
Maybe the best song I’ve ever heard in my life
Someone tell me what I'm s'posed to
Do when the occasion comes
Around for me to prove I am
Good
I can't find the answer to the
Question even though I'd like to
Demonstrate, if only I
Could
You are just part of the problem
I must be most of the problem
Funny people always come to
Me about their inhibitions
But there's no solution at all
I would like to help but I am
Usually too busy to
Prevent the way my friends want to fall
You are just part of the problem
I must be most of the problem
And consequently, the combination
Of your rhetoric and my ignorance
Only tends to horrify the situation to the point where
The lifeblood of our relationship evaporates
Into the air on which we choke
I wanna show you that I
Can't be any more inspiring
Just leave me alone until the
Time comes when I learn the answer
Then I'll write a novel 'bout it
You can read the novel and the
Problem will be solved and we can
Then go back to living in an
Ordinary way and all the
People all around us can say
They are really happy
That the novel was successful
And they know just how to cope with today
Possible, impossible
It's possible, impossible
It's probable, improbable now
Possible, impossible
It's possible, impossible
It's probable, improbable now
You are just part of the problem
Great song - R. Stevie is a genius. Though if I were a parent, I'd be worried about the strange man on the merry-go-round ...
Heard a dude call this bad, he must be dumb this is amazing
He is just part of the problem

@@tessarae9127 What an ignorant opinion lmao. Let people enjoy what they want, you're not intellectually superior because you like this music.
Outrageous that this sounds so relevant almost 40 years later... Stevie you're an inspiration!!

Still so good
I've never heard/seen anything better than this
yo why are there ghosts swinging in the swings in the background?
Such a great track. One of the first I ever heard. Got me hooked.
My favourite.

Is that a bowling shirt he's sporting??
Wow, I'm surprised I've never heard this. Gonna listen again right now.
My whole childhood. Tape it all...and we did
This is such an awesome song/album/artist. Love that there is always more R Stevie Moore out there for me to find.
Back when playgrounds were insanely dangerous
Lou Barlow should send him monthly checks.
Anyone who was in a band in the 80s should.
everything about this is iconic.
His voice reminds me of the deep, smooth tones of Kevin Ayers.
Ween before Ween !!!!!!!!!!!
nooooooooo..
Ween is sacred
And Ariel Pink
Ween is definitely its own thing
Yeahhh!!! Stevie Moore kick's ass
low key, this slaps
High key nigga
Major key nigga

Definitivamente fiquei tonto 😵 . Go Steve! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

Reminds me a lot of Greg Sage/Wipers whoaaa >;:::0
This is...fucking...wavy!
R Stevie Moore is a transcendental soul
I blame R Stevie Moore for my alcoholic relapse. I’ve never been happier.

I first heard that line when i needed it the most Stevie. You fuckin rock man. And i know youre aware of that!
How the FUCK did I just find him now. I feel like I missed out on a important piece of my life’s soundtrack. Floored. The rabbit hole just beginning.
I had a headache and as soon as I put this on it went away
Reminds me of Jack Stauber
U wouldnt want to put stevie in this mindset nowadays but this is a great song. Thank you Stevie. It’s possible impossible, probable improbable, possible now
Madness/sydbarret
so much of his music reminds of bob mould
Anyone else get a strong Pete & Pete vibe here? Love R. Stevie!
Redolent of early Zappa - a joy
Stevie's chuckle at the end of this song is great
9 dislikes... 9 too much
This song song speaks to me on all kinds of levels. R. Stevie is my spirit animal.

Here before he becomes post death famous
I almost get a Jack Stauber vibe from him.

Shit this would’ve blown up nowadays as it sounds kinda cool and lofi.

YO guys check out the band Drut P.D. They’re also outsider music, modern day outsider music
This is a really good song.
This is Daniel Johnston meets Frank Zappa.
two things...filming a music video at 40 years old in a playground probably wouldn't fly now a days...and what ever happened to Jim and R Stevie Moore? Did they have a falling out?
Oh he jacked his whole style 😂
This is legit.
this sounds surprisingly like giles, giles fripp
