    By my math, you only need to clear 833 1/3 damage per hit of 6 to KO a Silver Lynel, and a max damage RG Claymore does a bit over 900. Like 918-920. A 5x Savage Lynel Bow with gibdo bones does 972 BTW, but for a 5 hit KO you need to clear 1000 per hit. So yeah, also you can't sneakstrike Lynels or bosses but the Eightfold Blade has the highest attack in the game 1,280 with a silver Lynel horn or nearly double that with bones and bananas bonuses. If anyone has different numbers let me know I guess, and feel free to screenshot this for reference.

  • @itsSmiv
    @itsSmiv Рік тому +7

    13:36 can confirm this is true, though I don't think I found it in the same spot. It does 39 base damage (49 with octoroc upgrade), making it do 81 with a molduga jaw, 162/324 before it breaks, 486 with atk up food, and 875 with bone proficiency.
    13:46 a 7 point boost to base attack is a pretty hefty damage increase; corrupted claymore with all buffs does 799 damage, vs 875 from uncorrupted. 76 damage is quite a lot, though it doesn't matter much when you're gonna kill the lynel in one mount either way.

  • @AlphaSeagull
    @AlphaSeagull Рік тому +23

    Also just so everyone knows, the second doubling when 1 hit away frombreaking has nothing to do with Royal Guard weapons in particular. It's actually a bug. All weapons deal a crit upon breaking which gives double damage, it just so happens that mounted lynel attacks trigger this crit when the weapon has 1 durability despite not ACTUALLY breaking the weapon. I've done this on accident with Master sword before watching any video that covers this

    • @Dirty_Bear22
      @Dirty_Bear22 Рік тому +7

      Not a bug.

    • @mochimochi4179
      @mochimochi4179 Рік тому +5

      I think that's just how they coded it. Cuz a weapon breaks when durability hits 0, which would be checked after the hit registers, so they saved themselves the effort and just went "if durability = 1; attack =2(attack)" probably. Pulverizing lynel spines is basically the *only* way to exploit this, and you'd have to go pretty far out of your way to do it, so it makes sense they wouldn't bother fixing it

    • @ToxicallyMasculinelol
      @ToxicallyMasculinelol Рік тому +2

      @@Dirty_Bear22 The whole concept of having a nearly destroyed weapon, that you can only use on a specific enemy's back, during a kind of quicktime event, for 4x damage, is so absurd that it simply has to be a bug. I can't conceive of engineers deciding that they actually _want_ weapons to not consume durability when hitting lynels on the back. This was already absurd in Breath of the Wild. But it's even more inconceivable in Tears of the Kingdom, after the designers added weapons that double in power when low in durability. Surely if their intention was for weapons not to break in this circumstance, they wouldn't have completely ruined the challenge of what are supposed to be some of the most difficult enemies in the game by making it so easy to add yet another exploit on top of it. I admit that the fact that this still hasn't been fixed in Tears of the Kingdom is pretty bewildering, which I'll concede is a valid argument that this was always intentional from the start. But for me, that doesn't outweigh the absurdity. I have to believe this was just a particularly difficult bug to fix because of fundamental, architectural decisions they made early in the development of the game engine. Either that, or they literally just forgot to fix it, or somehow were not aware of the exploit. 🤦‍♀

    • @ToxicallyMasculinelol
      @ToxicallyMasculinelol Рік тому +3

      Also, just thought of another reason this has to be an exploit. In interviews and marketing material it's apparent that durability was a core concept of Breath of the Wild. They believed the core gameplay loop would not even work without durability. The whole point of this game, and what sets it apart from previous LoZ games, is the fragility of weapons. The need to constantly replace them. It's supposed to encourage you to go play the game and live on the edge, using the spoils from one conquest to fuel the next. Does it really make sense that, for only _one_ type of attack against _one_ type of enemy, they would completely disregard that whole concept, and intentionally code the enemy in a way that would allow players to completely circumvent that rule that's supposed to funnel them into a more fun playstyle? It makes no sense to begin with, but least of all in _this_ game, of all games, where weapon durability is totally fundamental to the game and nothing makes sense without it. These are the same people who designed the BotW master sword and decided it would be best if it stopped working after a while like every other weapon and simply became usable again after 10 minutes. So I really have a hard time accepting that Aonuma's intention was for players to reserve one slot in their inventory for the sole purpose of carrying around a giant "badly damaged" beat-stick that can only be used in one very narrow scenario, for the entirety of the game.

    • @ToxicallyMasculinelol
      @ToxicallyMasculinelol Рік тому +2

      And I'll be the first to admit I hate this exploit. I wish it did not exist. Because, although I don't want to completely neutralize the challenge of lynels (an enemy I really enjoyed in Breath of the Wild, though enjoyed less so when I realized you could smack them down a lot faster with a Savage Lynel Crusher), I don't have the self-control to choose not to use it 😂 I would vastly prefer if hitting a lynel on its back just did like 50% extra damage on its own, but still damaged your weapons, so you still had a good reason to hit it with a normal weapon during combat. Rather than just robotically shooting it in the head, jumping on its back, jumping off, rinse and repeat. It makes the fight so much less interesting.

    The way I've understood it, to be able to find a pristine version of a weapon in the chasm, you first need to have broken a weapon of that variety but not pristine. I'd guess it also has to be in your hand as I know I broke a boomerang once but that was while throwing it so it might only count while in your hands (not sure about this though.) certain locations give different types of weapons. Around Zora domain you can find Zora pristine weapons for example (if you've broken a withered weapon of that kind first.) but each spirit is either a spear spirit, a one hander spirit or alternatively it's a two-hander spirit.
    Another thing to note is that once you've loaded in a weapon for a certain spirit, it will not generate a new one next blood moon like it normally would if you haven't picked up the last weapon. You can instantly toss it out again, but they retain the weapon last loaded in for them unless you take it. Good luck on your pristine royal guard claymore hunting ^^

    This info has been getting spread around, so it's likely that readers who find this comment might already know this, but regarding pristine weapons:
    - The pristine versions of any particular weapon only start appearing after you've obtained and broken a corroded version of it.
    - Several of the weapon-offering ghosts in the depths offer a class of weapon, rather than a specific one, which I'm pretty sure is the case with the one mentioned here. That ghost offers claymores, which can be of the Soldier, Knight, Royal, or Royal Guard varieties. If you save your game before you get close enough that the weapon the ghost is holding becomes visible, you can reload until the ghost provides the specific weapon that you want; then you can also save before actually grabbing the weapon, so you can reload until you get the modifier that you want.

    Maybe I'm too late, but if anyone read this and it's useful, is enough for me:
    Getting a Pristine Royal Guard's Claymore is possible, all you have to do is breaking a Royal Guard's Claymore, that allows the possibility for it to spawn in the Underground.
    Once you've done this step, you have to find and, preferably, marking on your map where the dark ghosts that offer pristine weapons are. Specifically you have to find the ones that are in the Gerudo Highland's Underground, since there's one of the few zones were this kind of weapon appears.
    Lastly, if you find the ghosts and they don't have the weapon you want, just pick the useless weapon and throw it, this will allow the game to reroll it in the next Blood Moon.
    As a little advice, if you find a Pristine Royal Guard's Claymore, save the game before picking it so that you can load your game and pick it again if the weapon doesn't have the modifier you want.
    Hope this will be useful for anyone who reads this!
