    after watching this, those $800 steering wheels seem like a bargain now. great work!

    • @TheInkhousecustoms
      @TheInkhousecustoms  6 місяців тому

      They are a bargain. A price for a custom wheel will be more expensive, depending on materials and style. Most of the time the expensive wheels have variations in thickness and custom contours to fit user.

    So it's been 3 years from this video how well did the steering wheel hold up after 3 years anything you would have done different? Thank you

    • @TheInkhousecustoms
      @TheInkhousecustoms  Місяць тому

      After 3 years of it just sitting in the jeep, since I haven't gotten a chance to finish the project. It's holding pretty well in the heated jeep day after day.. only thing that lifted was the fabric on the horn, which I used that cheat contact cement. But overall it's in the same condition as day one.

      @@TheInkhousecustomsthank you for your help. Wanting to redo my OEM h3 steering wheel, they sell them custom made for $1700 freaking ridiculous. Seem how you did yours and way cheaper and more affordable. I do have another question what type 2 part epoxy you use? Last time I tried epoxy it ended up turning kinda yellow after some months passed. Thank you so very much!

      @Waunye. It took me about a week to do, between dry/ cure times. For a absolute beginner I would say about the same.. the thing before attacking any project is to have a game plan. Think or write down the steps you'll take before you take them. If it takes you watching a few videos and research before starting you can even cut the time down to a few days 2-3. I only put in a hour or two a day to complete.

      @@TheInkhousecustoms well you got your point but how to do a simetric parts without using some measurements tools, and doesn't mater what kind of material you use for anatomy, the wheel is rubber and has no conections to a hard part of the steering wheel, that's why need to be drilled and put some material to have a strong bond, good luck!

    • @TheInkhousecustoms
      @TheInkhousecustoms  3 роки тому

      This is true the wheel is made of rubber. The amount of layers of epoxy and the jb mater has enough strength to compensate. this is probably the best video series, from all my research you're doing everything spot on
    few questions though
    1) how are you determining thickness of the material to add around the wheel for thickness? just feeling it out i'm guessing right
    2) about how much material did you use, i'm seeing kits for like 1 pound, is this enough or was a lot used?
    3) have you used other pastes to compare? i've noticed a lot of the 'big guys' use a material called "apoxie sculpt", curious if you have experience with them to compare

    • @TheInkhousecustoms
      @TheInkhousecustoms  2 роки тому +2

      @rawrtravisrawr #1 just feeling out what I think is comfortable for me, was a wheel made for myself! Guessing if I was making it for a customer would depend on grip preference.
      #2 I used two small tubes of the kwikwood
      And two small tubes of the pc-11 .
      #3 I Haven't used and other pastes, I go with what I know works and is manageable. There's plenty of ways to accomplish the same results.
