BareMinerals is the ONLY foundation that doesn't break out my easily clogged, hormonal acne-riddled, extremely (neutral-cool) fair skin. I use the very lightest shade with a very light hand. It used to look too powdery until I figured out a good technique, found a better brush, and I learned to make sure my moisturizer completely sinks in before I apply. I just recently discovered their illuminating mineral veil, and it makes my skin look more naturally dewy than the regular stuff. I'm also a fan of their loose shadows and blushes. It's a great cosmetics line!

Ooh, I'll definitely have to try the illuminating mineral veil next!

I'm not sure if they still sell it but I bought a mineral veil sample pack from Ulta that let me try a few. I think there was an illuminating, brightening and hydrating along with a larger regular one. It was fun getting to try different formulas, but I don't pull them out as much as I should!

I got a kit kind of like the one you describe (which is how I found the illuminating mineral veil!) a few months ago from Sephora. But I don't think they sell it anymore...

I just recently returned to Bare Minerals, after more than a decade of liquid, and apply it almost exactly the same way you do! It was great that you pointed out that you shouldn't buff with the setting powder (I use Mac Skinfinish Natural instead of the Mineral Veil) because doing so removes the foundation you just so meticulously applied, therefore removing the coverage. Gently setting it with powder is important to keep my skin from becoming oily too. Love the peachy colored products as well. Thank you!

As a child and teenager I had severe acne, so bad that I've actually destroyed any and all pictures of myself from that time period😔 When bareMineral makeup first came out there wasn't anything like it on the market ( I can still remember the infomercials about it lol) When I tell you this makeup changed my life it sounds like I'm being hyperbolic but from the bottom of my heart it really did. After about a month at most of using it exclusively, my skin had been transformed. Cleared in a way that I had only dreamed about. The best part is my skin NEVER reverted back to the extreme acne that I had suffered with since the 4th grade. I still from time to time will have a pimple here or there but nothing remotely close to what it was like for all those years. I don't know what it is about this makeup that not only looked amazing but cleared my face better than any cream or skin routine at the time (2006ish) but I can not recommend this product enough to anyone suffering with extreme acne. Super excited to have gotten this product again on Amazon and to put a full face on after all these years to just sit around the house diamond paint lol. If you've taken to time to read this TLDR comment and also have awful skin that makes you cry yourself to sleep at night. Buy this, it is a little expensive but trust me it's 100% percent worth it. And just as one human to another. You ARE beautiful and it will get better. A million hugs to you and sending you all my love💌

I'm so happy because we're cleaning the house (moving is ugh) and I found a package my mom ordered a couple years ago from BareMinerals with SEVEN of these foundations in it! Two were in 'fair' and that's my skin tone so she let me keep them so now I don't have to buy any expensive foundation. She also had a full coverage kabuki brush so it's mine now. :)

OMG Jen! I really can't express how much I love this video! I have used bare minerals and im not going to lie I love it. I used it as a teen and now in my twenties I know my skin has changed and when using it about 2 years ago I just wasn't liking the product on my face! Until NOW watching how you applied the foundation made me open up my eyes and see that the product goes a long way and o was totally applying it wrong! I went into my restroom to follow the steps you did and it looks AMAZING! I recently purchased the bobby brown foundation but I didn't like the way it wore on my face. I think I have found love once again with the mineral foundation and thank you SOOO much!! :)

My skin has gotten more acne prone as I've aged. Bare minerals is the only one I can use. Here's the interesting thing though. If I go without wearing my makeup for more than a couple of days, my skin actually breaks out ... bad. Yup, I actually break out when I DON'T wear makeup. So, for those with sensitive skin, try this product. It may be what you actually need. Oh, and one more thing. I am 57 years old. Don't let the other posts scare you away from trying it. Just remember to apply it in light layers, building up to a coverage you're pleased with. I use the Prime Time primer first, then follow the directions you see in this video. You'll only get that caked on look if you use too much all at once.
    Great tutorial!

I'm back on the bare minerals foundation band wagon after jumping off and using liquids for a year or so. It dawned on my that my skin just looked so gross and oily by lunchtime each day and I was fed up! I dusted off my bare minerals and I'm never looking back. I love the creamy, satin finish and most of all I love not having an oil slick on my face! Absolutely recommended for combination/oily skinned gals out there. Great video, thanks for sharing xx

I love mineral makeup and I have heard so many good things about it, I just wished it liked me back. I must be heavy handed when I put it on or maybe lack the patience of putting on baby layers at a time. When I am done, I look like a patchy, chalky, gray mess. My pores are evident and my hyperpigmentation still shows through. The best way for me to use a mineral compact is when I am done applying my foundation, I stipple the mineral compact on my spots. Your skin looks amazingly healthy and glowy. I wish I could get that affect for my skin...I just need to find my ZEN and try it then! Thank you Jen! :-)

I love Bare Minerals! It was my very first foundation I purchased and I love it. My skin can be very dry so what I like to do is mix it with Mary Kay mineral foundation, and I find that it goes on much smoother and doesn't stick to my dry spots. I love it, and thats what my everyday foundation has been lately.

I always stay away from mineral make up because I feel that it wouldn't give me the full coverage that I want. But lately I've really been wanton to try it. I have large pores, blemishes all over my face, oily and acne prone skin and hyper pigmentation. Logically, I would think that mineral foundation wouldn't clog my pores as to liquid foundation and I'm trying to find something to not do that but give me coverage. I am still skeptical but I might just give in and try bare minerals.
Btw, you're a great spokesperson and naturally beautiful. Love your vids!

Maybe it was the camera or the angle but I really couldn't see any difference between her before and after looks. Her skin looks perfect without any makeup on it! Nice to discover this application using the smaller brush that she uses, I've always used a kabuki and it looks easier and more precise using the smaller brush. The kabuki brush is huge and I always have a lot of problems not putting too much powder on it and it drops powder all over the place.

I got the shade fair (c10) and i find that it's a really good match for me. I think it might actually be like a little bit lighter than my skin tone! But it is a really good foundation and has definitely helped with acne and oiliness. I would prefer a little more coverage but it's great!

It makes me feel sad that I couldn't use certain makeup due to its ingredients, such as Bismuth Oxychloride, that Bare Minerals have. It broke out my skin so badly couple of years ago, I thought it was just my skin at that time but found out it wasn't. I always check the ingredients on any makeup that I use. I would love to try the YSL foundation too but I can't because it has that ingredient...again-_-" what I noticed from makeup that have this ingredient is that it makes you look like you have a natural glow, makes your skin look healthy. Thank you Jen for updating your mineral makeup video ^_^

    Awesome video!
I've always had insecurities and issues with my skin and would automatically reach for my liquid foundations and heaver concealers. I had cystic acne and was very prone to scarring. For example, I scratched the back of my hand while washing dishes and sad to say, there's still a dark scar on my hand that is very visible. So acne and scars on my faces take weeks if not months to go away. But I came back from vacation about a month ago and my skin was angry with the sudden climate change and it was painful to even make facial expressions! So after a week break of no make up and my skin calmed, I started using Bare Minerals as I had purchased some months ago but never trusted it enough to use. Since then, my skin is SO happy and I was able to discover just how much better it is to use mineral versus liquid for day to day applications, especially when I work indoors.
Love the techniques you show and how little you use at a time! It really goes to show that a little goes a long way! I've always loved your channel and am always super grateful for your videos as I absolutely adore your style! Keep it up always!!

I love bare minerals! I used to get such an oily nose with liquid foundation but that doesn't happen at all now. Maybe it also has something to do with me using rose hip oil at night?
It looks amazing in photos too.. My skin looks like it's been airbrushed. One thing you do need to do is exfoliate regularly as your skin will flake otherwise. It's really helped reduce my black heads too. I love it! I use hourglasses' primer before and I also spritz Pixi's setting spray after applying the mineral veil just to get rid of any overly powdery areas such as around my nostrils and under my eyes where I need concealer and powder to hide the bluey/purple tones.

Great timing with this one! I seriously just looked up one of your old blog posts about mineral makeup this morning. My skin has been acting up in ways that I haven't dealt with in a while...And I thought my skin was settled now that I'm an 'adult'. I'm seriously considering buying the BareMinerals foundation and mineral veil now, along with a new brush or two. Thanks for the tips!

I never knew that you were supposed to apply mineral makeup in layers. The result looks amazing and flawless! Thanks so much. You mentioned that using a cream concealer afterwards will help with dark circles. Are there any in particular that you would recommend?? I'm in need of a good one.

I have just picked up some bareminerals recently. I'm allergic to most liquid foundations and anything that will block my pores such as eyeshadow primers. I tried out the bareminerals foundation and was happy with the resolute. I used the same real techniques brush because I didn't like the brush that came with the kit. For pple who have had a really hard time finding base makeup when you have sensitive skin I would say give this a try. There are a lot more shade varieties now. However, I've only tired this summer, so I don't know how it will perform yet on my extra dry skin in winter.

I really enjoyed watching the video because this sounds helpful to me. I never tried putting on Mineral Foundation and I am only 16 years old. I feel like a mature young woman and I know how to apply complexed make-up. I actually have and it's a good effect. I want to see more videos about this again!

Hi Jen, I really enjoyed the tutorial on how to put on Minerals foundation. I never have used your foundation but have used Prescriptives before they went out of business, so I am rusty on the technique to apply it. This was good for me to get a refresher. Thank you so much for the video and being so upbeat

Jen, thanks so much for making this video!! Yesterday I was thinking about my bare minerals and what kind of brush I should use to get the best benefits. Saw this video and wow!! I use the very same brush that you used also. So I'm confirmed that I am using the best brush for my bare minerals. I use the matte and blemish- free version of Barr Minerals. Thanks again for this wonderful video!!

I love Bareminerals! I got into it because Wayne Goss always raved about it and I was already using mineral powder but I wanted a better one. I love how Bareminerals has such a wide colour selection :) I actually ran out and unfortunately can get a hold of any at thr moment ~ booo
I personally like to usr a bit of jojoba oil before applying the powder :)

This was a great Video Jen! Thank you! I actually do the same when it comes to acne. When I start to have a breakout, I stop using my liquids and creams, and just use a mineral makeup until the acne is gone. Glad to know I'm not the only one. But I'm glad you showed us a good way to apply it, as I probably didn't apply it as well before. :)

I like mineral foundation, and I've been using it for awhile now. It can give a really light, barely there base. I do tend to use a pretty fluffy brush, and I'm thinking about getting a denser one for more coverage.

Love your video. I just recently switch to BareMineral and I love how you show step by step on how to apply with brushes. I am not a brush user but after watching your video i want to give it a try. The only concern I have for the mineral is that I usually after apply it on and through out the day, dry patches started to appear which make my skin look dry... is there anyway to solve that?
