Can confirm the power of the smg's. A green one from like level 20 still did fantastically for me even on early chaos levels! It is so nice to see non-legendaries finally actually do something, since in BL3 most (outside of like crit and hail and such) of them, were mostly useless.
Blackpowder X5 Purple Crossbow Pistols are amazing. Carried me 10 lvls and through last 3 main story bosses. The one I’m using casts lightning down on Crit and is casting X5 lightning, it shreds.
I'll second what you said, I have a level 34 one that puts out way more damage than the cryo X4 smg at level 40.
For completing a side quest named "Trials of Crook Eyed Phil" you get a very nice Dahl AR that outperforms many legendaries. The best thing is that it's very easy and straight forward to use, without any awkward gimmicks or conditionals to worry about. In my subsequent playthroughs I just pop in and do this quest when I feel like I haven't been able to upgrade my arsenal for a while.
I wish I had that DAHL AR at lvl 40! I loved that thing it shreds! got it at 26 and it carried me far
i just got this assault rifle. And farmed obelisk bosses with it. Its insane

you can get a 9 mag masher variant of the bow barrel blackpowder pistols and they are insanely broken. I found one at level 25 and it shredded into the early chaos levels, while playing clawbringer/brrzerker with very little damage buffs and enchantless.
Mashers are my all time favourite bl guns😁
Has anyone else noticed on the cyro smgs they have good fire rate but slow down as you get to the end of the magazine. I found that weird.
yes, not a fan. especially on the Hyperion SMGs

Cloudburst Arc Torrents are amazing when used with the Skeep: it will call down lightning bolts first to enemies around the Skeep, then when they're all dead, to the Skeep itself. If enemies are grouped together, it will summon bolts to each of them too.
Torgue weapons with crossbow barrels seemed to do well for me. Sticky mode gives massive increased damage
Just a quick tip to go with the video, if you use the skeep polymorph ability each projectile that hits the skeep can individually proc your free spell cast. Those ice sub-machine guns are truly crazy when you skeep something.
I absolutely love how good some of the non-legendaries are in this game. I loved borderlands 3 right but it always felt like you only rly needed legendaries but in this game Some purples can be just as good as ur legendaries if not better. So good.

Blackpowder stagecoach lookin shotguns with multi pellets are great aswell and blackpowder pistols with crossbow and multi pellets are also broken
those cryo x4 smgs are so good. I love them.
A lot of the skullduggers are really good as well AR with a crossbow tip that deals stacking damage along with a infinite msg
I had a skulldigger pistol with x3 bullets and it shredded enemies.
I really like the torgue shotguns with 9 or 10 pellets, it's like the assault rifles, but you get the damage out way faster. It usually consumes 2 ammo, but with a 3 round magazine you get a free round and you get 20 sticky pellets in a second

any legendary arc torrent is so good also the shotgun that rains down arrows is my favorite
Also for the campanion builds in the game there is a purple hydra spell that spawns a hydra and when an enemy that it damages dies another hydra spawns. 30% chance to spawn a hydra when hitting a boss
I tried the Dark Magic smg and it isn’t bad though it is better up close cause the dark magic balls drop. I got a fire smg version that looked like the cyro ones and that was really cool. After every couple shots these for fire orbs or extra bullets would pop out the side of the weapons and hit enemies. I don’t know if they track or not cause some times it seemed to track and other times would completely miss all enemies.
Quaking Sunder spells are really good too. Seeks out tons of ground mobs and kills them instantly. My lvl 19 version carried me through most of the game
you gotta check out the quakin sunder spell (the quaking affix is important here!), they are insane! tho im not on chaos 20 yet, so idk if the damage will still be enough then, but the homing aoe is just so insane

I found a Cloudburst Arc Torrent of Invention, blue rarity and OMG that is so much fun to use. 5, count them... FIVE spell charges with a 8.5 cooldown time, and a 45% spell cooldown on it. On the Spellshot I have, it is back up almost as fast as I can fire them in Channel Cast. The only problem with it is on really quick-moving targets, it can be hard to hit. On slower, or normal speed guys it will practically one-hit them for me since I can aim for the crit area. lol
I got a 4x crossbow tongue AR in cryo and it shreds but I gotta arc my shots a lil bit lol
I'm playing a gun-focused (but still very spell-spammy) deadshot and I'm avoiding channel cast, it really hurts my dps since I can't reload while I cast.
I have a blue 101x2 feriore crossbow at lvl 25 and I just spam reload wipes pretty much any area I’m in.
Concentrated spell are also very powerfull, these spells get around a 1000% spell damage, and in my playthrough a level 28 still carried me up untill chaos 2 level 40
They are great for bossing!
I had a ricochet multifire ice spike .... it was so stupid especially on a critical

Currently maining the fearnot pistol with wings and frost spell for damage and the pistol for spell reset

Encrapsulators are the best version of the torgue assault rifles. If you see one of any rarity, buy it. The stickies will melt bosses.
yea dude even the grean x4 cryo weapos carried me vary but the purples lasted even longer
have a blue feriore with wings with no elemental that i havent found a replacement purple for yet.. gotten a few but they dont kill things as fast.. had a blue one when leveling aswell carried me from 17 up to chaos mode 5. fkin ridiculus
pookies chew toy is pretty op. Its a pistol that shoots and damages like shotgun
Something that carried me are Torque TNT pistoles in their sticky mode. 3x is better but 2x are strong as well.
then there are twister - eruption books which does on chaotic like 1.6kx16
I swear they did a secret nerf on those cryo SMG, they did well until yesterday when they fell off hard around lvl 20.
I disagree with the channel cast arc torrents, I don't like them. I do better with a really good triple ice spike fire and forget, high damage fire and forget concentrated magical barrage, or even casting several fire and forget call lightning shock torrents. Currently running a fantastic dark magic calamity.
Also as a spellslinger, a variant of the high damage single shot crossbow pistols with fast reload have carried me all game. I like to start off with them to get spellweaving stacks up, then cast spells on beefier enemies or switch to the 4X frost SMG as needed. I'll sometimes go back to the single shot crossbow if I'm getting beat up just to spam spellweaving stacks for the 10% ward regen.

I was using the cryo smgs for my berserker build until I found a torgue assault rifle. I think it was just a world drop from the dank forest... It's only lvl 31 and has a gear score of 420. 100X 3 damage with an additional 110 cryo damage and 234 area damage. It's got a decent fire rate and on top of all of that it's a crossbow weapon so each crossbow bolt deals 7% extra damage and lasts for 7 seconds. It's the most broken weapon I have found so far. It's called the slapping encrapsulator of expectation and I really hope you do a video on it 😅😂
The Torgue weapons are nutty
The only weapons that count for fateful thralls are hydras, so I believe what was said around the 3:15 mark is inaccurate.

The second chest you open in the game give you a green variant of that smg

The arc torrent spells are strong asf. Lasted me 5 or 6 evels before I found a stronger spell
Lvl 2 cryo Dhalia SMG lasted me until lvl 10
What do you mean by second chest? For the sub?
go back to the first area (bottom left of world map) - its one lane when you load into the area so you cant miss the chest. The SMG you want is normally the one on the right side of the opened chest.

I'm using the slow falling meteor and it's level 13 and my character is 26
Is it a Extinction Meteor spell? Because I have found that does wicked powerful damage(but rare to find) since it falls slowly, does damage over time on anyone below or near it BEFORE it explodes to do big damage. Also, they come in all the elements and dark magic in case you're wondering.
