I want to complement you on intelligent and very entertaining content that is very informative for those of us who enjoy Old West guns. Your gunsmithing videos are very detailed and helpful as well. Beautiful ranch as well. Regards.

    The 1907 is a FASCINATING gun to me, it is effectively doing the same things guns a half-century or more later would do but at an almost anachronistically early age.
    These are all *spectacular* specimens, looking forward to that future video too

    Hello, sir! I've been watching your site for a while, and it's one of the few I subscribe to. So here's my question - according to Wikipedia, the m 1907 was only chambered in .351 Win SL. Where do you find the bullets to load in .351? Do you cast them yourself? Do you have some old ammo lying around? I tried to get a vet tech friend of mine shooting her rifle of that chambering but could find zero bullets of that dimension, and I believe Winchester made the bullets back then (1990-ish). So I am curious how you managed to get some ammunition.
    You mentioned the weight of the piece. As you undoubtedly know, it's a blowback action, so it would have taken a pretty decent sized chunk of metal in the action to take up that energy. An early design, for sure.

    • @thecinnabar8442
      @thecinnabar8442  Рік тому +1

      Buffalo Arms carries both brass and bullets for the 351 WSL. They occasionally make runs of loaded ammo as well, but are out of stock currently.

I can't wait to see your video on the early auto Loaders, because I'm constantly amazed at how everything new, really isn't new at all. Are you interested in vintage Winchester. 22 cal rifles? I like the Model 52, 61, 67, etc and try to collect a few. Great scenery in your stuff, too. I start each day with about a three mile hike and shoot with my Spaniels on the Black Hills
    National Forest . It's nice to be able to shoot whenever we want. We are fortunate in that regard. Even though my shooting is limited to the 10/22 and Mini 14 until the ice melts. Don't want to bust your butt with classic rifle in hand.

    Thanks for another entertaining video. I enjoyed seeing the Remington-Hepburn. I like single shot rifles. Back in the '80s there was a very nice example in a gun shop in Anchorage that I frequented. It was in great shape (better than the High Wall I got there), but it was in 25-20 SS. It was very reasonably priced, $500 comes to mind. But I resisted it because ammo and brass for that cartridge was nonexistent at that time, and I wanted to shoot it. Even so, it tempted me every time I went in there. It was there for over a year, then one day it was gone. Of course I kicked myself. And later brass became available and I could have shot it. Not the only time I regretted passing something up ha ha.

      While the 30-30 was introduced as the first smokeless cartridge available in the model 1894, it wasn't introduced until 1895 and at virtually the same time as the smokeless 30-40 Krag was introduced in the model 1895. I believe I stated that the model 1895 was the first model introduced "from day one" for smokeless powder cartridges. 1894's were introduced in 1894 only in black the powder cartridges - 38-55 and 32-40.

    Great video and really like the variety of guns. Hope you cover reloading problems with the first semi auto Winchesters. I've had several 351s and loaded for them and with the cut down 357 max case you can pump them out almost as fast and cheap as 9mm using a 9mm shell plate and 357 mag dies. 401 is a little problematic but doable. Still cheap rifles maybe from ammo anxiety.

    Wondering what you thought of the 1876 40-60 caliber? From what I have read it was thought of a wolf gun and that is it. It was supposed to be a flatter shooting round than the others but how hard was it hitting? A good deer rifle?

    • @thecinnabar8442
      @thecinnabar8442  Рік тому +1

      It would depend on the type of deer hunting. It wouldn't be great for mule deer in this area with mostly long shots. Might be good for whitetail in areas where shooting is typically under 100 yards.
