Quick correction: the lighting engine is the same, apparently the gamma slider works as a shader. My bad 😅
To render anything at all with modern graphics APIs(openGL 3, directx 9, openGL 2 is optional on the use of shader pipeline).
You have to use shaders, so any graphical option in a graphical minecraft mod:
1. Is a shader, the trees swaying is a shader.
2. Post processing Moody-Bright setting, that's a shader.
3. Modifies amount of data sent to the shader/doesn't use the shader at all.(particle setting, rendering distance).
4. The lighting engine is a shader/set of shaders.

Hey, i'm having a slight problem with this mod. nametags have weird lines that connect each one with another. is this caused by the immersive portals mod? hopefully this gets fixed soon. im using 1.20.2 fabric

Nice to see you here! Downloaded this today and it works amazing, only thing I've run into are two crashes, one from scrolling menus too quickly and the other by trying to open the mod menu with the keybind :P The pack's done amazingly well, and it really recaptures the vibe of classic console edition, especially if you choose the beta console worldgen!
This should also be an addon for bedrock edition god knows we need it I remember this version all too well

Minecraft was suppose to be enjoyed, Not a Game that gets more updates a lot.
My favorite thing about Legacy Edition was how it always felt like they were trying to make the most complete Minecraft edition, even if it was limited in a lot of ways. It had mini games that previously you had to play through third party servers, it had a tutorial, it had custom textures packs and maps to explore, it had a ton of custom skins, and a lot of other decisions like the music and graphics made Minecraft feel a lot more like a regular indie game with a ton of love.
Legacy Edition stopped updating in 1.13, and to me, that's the end of a Minecraft era, in 1.14 they changed a lot of the base game, and it just wasn't the same ever again, it's great, and not necessarily worse, but it's different.
I love that this version of the game is getting the appreciation that it gets, one that it hadn't gotten until it wasn't there anymore. You really don't know what you like until you don't have it. Love the video, would be great to see some more of it since I'm not really available to play it myself anytime soon. 😢

The quality difference between console and PC always bewildered me, glad to see it's experience is finally recreated 10 years later
not gonna lie, i wouldn’t have a single problem with bedrock edition if it included the “What’s This?” feature. it’s so useful and it doesnt get ANY love at all, would totally save new players SO much time
One of the main issues I have with bedrock is how slow and buggy all the menus are. When I launch it on my PS4, its a race to click the 'Editions' button to switch to legacy before the loading resources screen pops up for about 20 seconds and then the marketplace ad pops up and takes another 10 seconds to load.
Bedrock on switch is a nightmare at times, I've completely given up on it
@@lance_374 THIS. I don’t know what possessed mojang to not lump the “loading resources” in with the startup screen, like don’t blueball me after I waited half a minute for your dumb game to load
@@catWithFunkyFace I think the 'resources' it's loading is the latest ad that will show up on the store button. I notice that after that screen goes away it shows the marketplace ad.

Never played Console Edition.
Yet, for some reason, somehow, this just feels better and more stylistically correct for Minecraft.

This video made me look back on all of my Minecraft experiences - from playing Pocket Edition on my iPod Touch, staying up all night on weekends with my friends on the PS3 Edition, to the bittersweet 2 week Realms of Java Edition - I'm super grateful for them all.
Thank you for the trip down memory lane, crazy how a simple mod tutorial made me feel like this. *Minecraft truly is infinite.*

This brought back a lot of good childhood memories. Coming home from school to go watch Stampy was the best part of my day back then. I first started playing Minecraft in 2014 on PC, but I did start playing the console edition on the Wii u in 2015.
These sensations and memories are unexplainable. Something you just have to live through to understand I guess
the fact that i literally found out about this mod ( and the modpack ) yesterday, after watching your old video with controllable and all that other stuff 😭

The noises the crafting menu used to make is music to my ears
The constant music on console was one of the best parts, you could form a much better attachment to the tracks and the game felt more lively since the game has no real ambiance and on bedrock and Java feels sort of empty when the music is so infrequently (and half the time is not even from c418)
Wow this is incredible! I spent the majority of my childhood playing java but have fond memories playing split screen with my friends on console and this just brings back so many memories. I honestly didn't even realize the legacy console editions had such a distinct style until now. Seeing Minecraft like this it really feels like a more soulful game compared to what we have now. I don't know how to put the feeling into words but it feels so magical.
Ok this looks so much better, I was sure lately mc didn't feel like it used to but now I have the proof of it.
This makes the game look more enjoyable, pleasant, familiar and warm.

I started playing the Xbox 360 edition back in 2013, according to save files. I was like, 5-6 years old back then. I'm 16 now. Time flies!
I have no idea when I started, it was probably like 7 years ago on xbox, now I've switched to switch (no pun intended) and almost prefer it over bedrock to this day

also i think the little attention to detail things really make this stand out, like especially the music. I always hated how music doesn't always play in java edition, and i think partly for that reason, lots of the music in minecraft gives me nostalgia specifically for playing the console versions. Very neatly done with this mod!

The mod is amazing, i truly felt like i was playing the Legacy Edition, it was a nostalgia trip for me, but i've noticed some weird input delays when the framerate drops, that made my experience a little worse, but overerall, i loved this, im not going back to vanilla after this

Jeeeeeez back in the days, I started to play Minecraft on Xbox 360. Then I played on PS Vita and later on Wii U. Although Java Edition is great, I never managed to experience once again the special mood legacy edition had with its musics, sounds, appearence and so on. I cried when I learned the existence of the mod. And I will certainly cry again once I am able to launch Minecraft with this mod ! 😊
No one can replicate the OpenGL rendering engine, the cinput, the network packet sending engine the graphics the ui all of is the game is pure work, and nostalgic.

Not in the base mod, but in the re-console modpack I think there's a mod that makes splitscreen possible

My first experience in Minecraft was pocket edition and watching UA-camrs on console, all this hits so hard!
What I remember most about console is the lighting and desaturated textures, something about it is nostalgic and inspiring. Bedrock in the other hand, lighting is so flat and choppy and the colors are way too saturated, even pocket edition wasn't that bad in my opinion.

after downloading this mod, i realized that it had genuinely made minecraft fun for me for the first time in a long time. for every minecraft install i've ever played since i started using an xbox one, i've had to tweak things so that they matched legacy console edition. i played this and it made me feel at home. things worked how i've always expected them to work. thanks, y'all.

bro when i played this i was so surprised like i wasnt expecting creative to have all the features back like holding jump with an elytra to go higher and flying where you look and even the "early swimming animation" where you flew the elytra into the water to make it look like you were swimming honestly had me in tears but i will say they gotta fix the boat controls on controller

This is awesome! I’ve been dying to get a mod that added the console crafting table, and it’s finally here! This honestly made my day. It’s such a shame console edition was replaced.. I wonder if it’ll have compatibility with other mods- probably would be pretty difficult though, but it would be awesome!
From what I've tried, mods that add their own menu buttons like replay mod don't work simply because the buttons don't show up on the menu at the moment 😅 but they're still compatible. I also tried using a different controller mod since my third party one wasn't working with legacy4j and I guess there's a major conflict there because the game wouldn't run with both
