Hi...Did you have to upload some firmware or something? I need to record for a longer time without a battery, only with an external source. I am waiting for the delivery of the GoPro 12 and if it is not possible, I would have to buy something else.
I need to look into what the specs are on the volta to see if i can get a powerbank with the same specs, im using my go pro right to record when i do little model kit building but having issues with overheating. Maybe ill buy the volta but if i can accomplish the same thing with a powerbank/brick that be great.
I suggest removing the battery and plugging it in to the bank. Or maybe use time warp. The GoPro still gets hot with the volta just like with a battery bank
I’m having the issue that if I use a regular external battery pack with the media mod it says not enough power but if I do just my camera without the media mod it works. Does anybody have any advice for this?
@@FroZoneProduction can you power the GP10 with media mod and no battery from external power on 1.40? I have tried and it says "battery required" 😬 Thanks for the reply
hey, i have a question(sorry for my english), is posible run the same test with de old media mod and a powerbank? i have a powerbank with qc3.0 and i want to make video on my byke and stream (some people say the external mic dont work on stream), thanks
@@FroZoneProduction well, not for me. Did the reset to volta by pressing mode and rec button for 8 seconds and still nothing. I have two media mods, one for each gopro, 10 black and 11 black. Neither work with volta. I mean, they work IF they are directly connected without the media mod. So Volta + gp10 = ok wired and BT Volta + gp11 = ok wired and BT Volta + media mod (any of the two) + GP(any) = NOK for wired, just charge. BT is ok. I am receivng today my second volta. I will test it .
@@FroZoneProduction today, the day after my video saying this wouldn't work.. it worked!!! Hahahahahaa bummer! But I know why!!! There is a slight bad contact in the usb-c in the media mods that does not allow the protocols to be 100% accurate. So power pass ok but communications.. do not. It sometimes work... most times do not. When it doesn't, check the connection to the media mod. The connector has a door and that has a slight small hinge.. that can prevent the cable to be correctly inserted. And has the cable is circling around itself, it becomes lose easily. Keep that in mind ;) Cheers.
Oh that’s funny. I shot a time lapse last night and I thought it worked but I had a bad usb c cable. Only lasted as long as the GoPro battery not the PowerBank. Life…
weird that its not working with other usb-c-power (Hero 9 Black plus MediaMod)
Oh awesome! So it works! Thanks for testing
thanks for the information if you take out the batteries the GoPro does not heat up and works thanks man
Nice...was wondering what was up with this...Just tried it on Hero 12...works flawlessly.

How long is the battery life if you use a 1000mah battery and an extreme microphone?
I don't know, my Volta stopped working and I tossed it.
notification gang checking in, my question is. would u trust this outside doing timelpases vs your power banks?
Kinda… maybe. Still not sure
Did you have any issues as far as losing audio or seeing blank files using it without the internal battery?
No I did not

Hey, what firmware were you running here? Anything after 1.20 doesn't seem to work on external power with media mod 🤔
I’m on 01.40

Yup I tried earlier today and it worked. I do remember seeing that note before once. But I hadn’t seen it lately
@@MVDBR same problem here with the GP9
Any update to this? I've used my gopro this way for a year now without moving it. Suddenly it shows the battery required message.

I am not sure. You would have to try it
Thanks for the video . I was wondering ...
Anything else you wanted to know?
The buttons work???
Is that a gopro 11 or 10?
Or are you using bluetooth?
The buttons work on both 10 and 11. Plugged in or via bluetooth

Can charging from Volta without the battery inside the gopro solve the problem of the gopro shutting down due to overheating?
I have never had a problem with overheating. They are action cameras, meant to keep moving.
Great info 👍
Super cool eh
the volta for me is love hate
I agree… it’s GoPro culture
