    Nice video. Wiring is the scary monster for most DIY mechanics. Breaking it down like you did helps to overcome the fear and tackle electrical issues with a bit more confidence. Key, are some of the tools you used. A multi-meter is a must! Thanks for putting this together!

      Yes I agree I have a 91 camaro that has electrical problems stemming from how the previous owner wired it they spliced shit into existing shit and it’s just intimidating

    I’ve always enjoyed wiring, I guess working on centrifugal chillers helped me over the years. Awesome as usual!

      I like wiring too. It's much better when you aren't in a hurry, because once the guessing begins, then something bad will happen.

    Try using baking soda and water to scrub those corroded terminals,. it might be a bit less aggressive than vinegar in that you can choose the amount of time you expose the component to the solution before rinsing off..

      Yes, I feel that I have a good grasp on the diagrams and locations now. By process of elimination the rest of the circuits should go together easier.

    Great video as usual. My head hurts trying to figure out what everything means on the diagram. I'm definitely going to be going back to this video when it is time to work on the harness. Looking forward to next weeks video.

      I spent a lot of time this week and most of it was learning the diagram. 74 was the first year of the current flow diagrams. I spent some time studying the 73 schematic too because the wiring isn't that different.
      The seat belt warning system is something else. I won't be using that stuff.

      @@GarageTimeAutoResto My 911 is a '72 how does it differ from your 74 as far as the wiring schematic, do you read it the same way?

      No the 72 schematic resembles the actual wire and component arrangement. It's more straight forward to follow, but there will be more lines.

    If you struggle with obtaining a new appropriate grommet, if you soak rubber parts in a mix of winter green oil and ethanol then it softens the rubber (don't forget and leave it soaking for a few weeks though - it grows!)

      @@GarageTimeAutoResto , it is a fairly common trick for motorcycle airbox connectors. Works well, and useful when parts are no longer available or too expensive to justify. Don't do it in the house as it smells strongly of mint!

    I am having trouble with a wiring code it is ALTEXCI then it says Tel T I was wondering what this wire goes to? I also have one that says RTOTO power and what does it go to? I hope you can help me with this thank you

      Something to do with the alternator circuit? Not sure about RTOTO? Are you sure this isn't the brand of the wire

    I am in the process of updating my 78 911 fuse panel to blade type fuses. I noticed that the rear turn signals are on the source side of the fuses and the fronts are on the load side. Do you know why they would connect the signals to the source side of the fuses? They are fused with 5A fuses in two positions. I'm thinking of putting the rears on the load sides of the fuses. Do you think the 5A fuse is large enough for the additional load when the hazard flasher flashes all four lights. Or would it require an increase to perhaps a 7A or 10A? I would appreciate your input.

      Cool project, let me know how you like the blade system.
      My guess is the rears are not fused for traffic safety reasons. Porsche apparently believes that a rear end collision due to no lights is a larger risk than an electrical fire. Another example is the ignition circuit and fuel pump are non fused. You can't have the engine stop while on the autobahn.
      On the other hand the front signals are kind of optional. Someone might flip you off though.
