Hey Mike - Great first vid in hopefully a long series. I also cannot emphasize enough the aspect of paid info. I have people come to me confused with electrical/circuit problems who find wiring diagrams for free that inevitably are incorrect for their car (different year, model, engine, etc). If you want to do these types of repairs properly, you've got to have correct diagrams. Even if you DO subscribe to a data provider, they can sometimes be wrong.
    Great series!

Hey Mike, looking forward to the series!
I love wiring diagrams. While my wife was reading a novel, I would be reading a wiring diagram. Strange?
I enjoy sharing these skills of reading wiring diagrams with the apprentices I teach. To start with, when they look at the diagrams, they are like a kangaroo stuck in the headlights, with fear in their eyes. It's great to see after doing some courses, they slowly gain some confidence and can apply what they have learned in a real world situation. Great to get feedback when they gain experience and confidence.
Keep up with the great work! 😊👍

I must be honest, at first, I was like slow down, slow down!
As a landscape contractor, and one who’s never looked at a wiring schematic, I’ll admit, I was pretty discouraged looking around for any vids explaining what the symbolism is as opposed to “ how to bypass safety switches, or start your mower so you don’t have to push a pto button “ that I kept finding. I mean, I get it you may not like the seat safety design, but there’s some real beauties out there. Yikes! Hope they don’t have toddlers running around their yards.
Anyway. I’m troubleshooting a John Deere zero turn and even bought the tech manual 680 pages, lots of printer ink, but worth every stinkin penny, until the electronics haha. I was like “ I can read grade prints, swales, berms, trees, drainage etc and explain it like this young man here. But I literally felt like a first grader until I watched this video. Did I watch it 3times? Sure did until things began making sense. Tbh, the switched/ un switched color codes was huge. Yes, I was that bad.
I had a switched power wire messed up, and read the connector cavities wrong in one connector and it messed everything up, but with this, my green machine I use exclusively for my home and no where else, is running again and just in time as there’s a 3 day rain coming.
I believe every person has a unique ability and can excel at something. This young man evidently is a master at his craft, and a very good teacher. Hell, I learned from him.
But to complain about this or that about a video you decided to watch on UA-cam is kind of silly dontcha think?
Especially ones who think they know a better way to explain. Have at it then, make your own vids, stand up there and do what this trained man did.
Enlighten us all, you’re wasting your talent behind your keyboards!
      Thanks again great video 🌳

I'm doing an engine rebuild atm so I can't really do too much electrical work (running the vehicle or attaching the battery), but to apply this in a way that's currently needed instead of just for practice, I wanna use my OEM manual's cooling fan diagram and see if I can figure out why the cooling fans might not be working past what I already know to check. The relays and the fan motors work and I ordered a new coolant temperature sensor, the diagrams can help me know if there are any other possibilities other than the wiring itself.
I'm excited to be learning how to do electrical work because it's one of the procedures I haven't learned enough about yet to do as a tech.

A tip for Canadian viewers - Part Source locations will print wiring diagrams for free. ( Part Source is a Canadian company similar to NAPA). Unfortunately, they don't have stores in all Canadian provinces.

Nice job, Mike! I don't look at factory GM diagrams very often - I never knew those were RPO codes where there was a diamond symbol in a wire! Thanks, man! Minus sign = without - can't believe I didn't figure that one out on my own, lol. 👍🍻

Sometimes when people donate books to libraries you can find some of Chiltons or other manuals there. Some even post them on their website for online access. But you have to check with local library to find out. Not all we have free access to that type of knowledge.

hey mike. i didnt hear you elaborate about the two paths that are the switched ground. maybe i'm getting ahead of you, if so disregard. some may be confused that either the horn button or the bcm can control the horn so it may work with one but not the other. in diagnosing sometimes a circuit works part time which may be caused by such a scenario and will throw off a technician to look for a fault that may be intermittent rather than understanding the entirety of how the system works. also since the bcm can operate it additional checks at the bcm if that part of the circuit is malfunctioning will be in order.

    • @GoTechTraining
      @GoTechTraining  4 роки тому +1

Hey Richard, I planned on bringing this exact thing up once we begin to apply testing to the circuit/diagram. Super valid point to be made there. I'll make sure to cover it...but it will likely be a little bit later in the series.

HI, well this is a very good series, beside the videos of High performance Academy...... please layout your entire video series plan and please include a video on "wire length while re-creating/ re-doing wiring harness. keep up the good work. and by the way, it will be awesome if you show some hardware every now and then as example.

Question...so when you said what you said at point number 4, that the power source and ground source will stop at the first open circuit, are we talking about an electrical fault, or are we dividing the power side of the circuit from the ground side of the circuit? Because I have an issue determining where my ground side begins on a wiring diagram.
