I think it’s great how positive you are to your young self. I remember trying to tell my husband to watch you on news back in....2005?2006? We lived in Mesa for a minute. Gosh my son was only 3 back then. Anyway, I remember you being on local news quite often. I kept telling my sons dad,”watch this kid! Shes gonna be an elite one day-maybe an Olympian! Remember her name!” Well I remembered. Kinda hard to forget.
I think it's awesome that you can look back on this and pick out all the good things you did and not just point out any your mistakes. It shows your confidence in yourself and it is amazing to see!
I love you watching yourself back! You were so little, and yes, you did look scared. Congrats on your silver medal. I was cheering you on. I wish that you could have competed on floor as your level of difficulty seemed higher than some. Take good care. Thanks for representing our country beautifully.❤️
I love watching these older videos. It should boost your confidence. You were always so amazing for your age and size. Hope you are doing well. Love you Myk!
It’s so fun to see you compete at a young age. You did look nervous but happy to be there in the videos. I love your comments about yourself and you’re being harsh or critical of how you looked or how you did.
It's so much fun to watch old videos and I love seeing your reaction to them! If you have older videos, whether L5 or L10, it would be so much fun to see them!
You did look stone faced in this video, but you did a great job. I remember watching this in 2010 and thinking you were trying to embody Nastia's concentration face.😂😍Either way, love the video. It's fun to walk down memory lane especially when your memories are a bit fuzzy.
Interesting seeing you, my favourite gymnast as a little girl. I hope this reminds you of what a phenomenal talent you are and all the years of work you’ve achieved....You know what that means?.....next Olympics, there’s not a question in my mind that you have everything you need to make the team....and medal ! Never give up, you can definitely do it! It’s now up to you!
Oh my gosh! I had the same floor music as you. I started very late and competed for the first time when I was 12, so I had it at the same age you did. So crazy!
I love your tenacity, persistence and courage. To become a master of any craft takes time. Remember, whatever your path may be you can handle it! And have way too much fun along the way. Can't wait to see you in 2021!
I think you killed it and did amazing! I love your channel...thanks for sharing your journey/life with us! I always wanted to do gymnastics but I was too tall...my son loves gymnastics now though and although boys gymnastics isn't as fun I love being in the gym with him and watching him
If you ever need a cheerleader, I am here for you Myk. As a gymnastic enthusiasts I have been watching you since you came on the Senior scene. I always felt you were underrated and overlooked because Marta always seemed to have her favorites. I was so happy when you were at Utah, because the Utah fans understand gymnastics, acknowledged and appreciated your talent. Keep up the good work, you can make it to Tokyo. Others may tell you differently, but you are definitely meant to be an Olympian. I love you precious girl. You are an inspiration.
I think you have so much great knowledge in so much support for the love of the sport that your career should be continued in motivating and teaching young girls how to become Olympians like you

You look so much taller here! I think it's because you were skinny so it makes you look longer. Not that you're not slim now, but you still had that kid skinnyness. Pros and cons though - if you're more muscular you have more power. If you're skinny you look more elegant. I think the balance you have now is perfect xx
I remember at a comp in march i had just moved to seniors in AGA (my gym does USAG) i had just gotten my flic and my round off on beam so i was still pretty shaky. so its time to dismout and when i do my round off i only land one foot but i still go for the backtuck so i land on my face. I got up and started laughing .... ahh good times.

Hoping your parents are well. Had heard they were ill with covid-19. And if the postponement of the 2020 Olympics is a bummer (which it is), the silver lining is that it is extending your career and Simone's career. #SilverLinings
Oh my gosh I just listened to your interview on the All Things Gymnastics podcast, it was so good!! I have two questions for you after listening to that interview. 1) did you get to go to the stadium and watch the Final Five in team, all around and event finals in person?? Because if not I’m going to be even MORE mad about your Rio experience!! And 2) what’s your major? :)
Please do another one for the 2011 Nastia Liukin cup! I watched it the other day (there’s no individual clips you have to sift through the whole competition) and Tim freaked out every time you went. You did an amanar, silivas, and back full on beam and his reaction is hilarious!
Just wish the quality of the images were a bit better considering its not that long ago. You have always been a great powerful gymnast, it shows throughout your career.
It seems like Lisa paced your career well. I’m curious if you agree. You had high difficulty even then but within reason. Look at the results of this meet. Lexi Priessman was winning everything back then but sadly burned out with injuries and didn’t really have a senior elite career. Same thing has happened to many other junior super stars. What do you attribute your longevity to?
JO can still do two vaults! (Better score counts.) It's elite that changed the rules so only one vault is allowed. Do you wish elite would allow two attempts at vault in the AA/TF with the better one counting or do you like only one attempt?
So in elite - - In the 1997-2000 code, FIG required everyone to do two different vaults (they could be from the same entry, but had to be two separate skill numbers), and averaged the two scores for the gymnast's final score - After 2008 and 2012 both had vault medalists with a fall, FIG briefly considered changing VT EF scoring. Averaging a vault with a fall and one performed well means the fall only loses .5 off your final score, rather than 1.0 as on every other event, making it easier to overcome with a high difficulty score. So they proposed instead averaging the difficulty value, but adding the execution deductions (so if you had a 9.0 E on both vaults, your final E-score would be an 8.0). In the future in elite, I'd like to see a strategy that is a combination of those two: 1. Scoring for the two is calculated with the averaged difficulties, cumulative E score as in the abandoned 2013 revision - However, since everyone competing is now doing two vaults, all vaults could be revalued at 1/2 their current D, and the calculation just stated as "add the D scores for both, subtract the E deductions for both" - Beyond solving the fall problem, having additive E deductions over a larger body of gymnastics would bring vault E scores more generally in line with the other three events. Right now a great vault can go 9.5+ while anything over 9 is an great E score on the other three events. This is partially because vault is so short there aren't many options to deduct. Making it twice as long and counting all of the deductions helps even that out.
