I got a puppy to force me out of the house to hike. I tend to isolate, as a veteran. Smartest dog ever met. Definitely a velcro dog, but wouldn't have it any other way.

Mine is the same. She will lay in bed and watch netflix with me all day if that's what I want. However, she is whining by the door and ready to leave Sunday morning to go to agility class. I’ve had 4 Aussie over the years. Each have been stand offish with strangers. She’s nipped my coworkers if she felt they’re to close to me or block her view of me. We used to take care of Banjo, a friend's an 4-year-old merle. Energy and brains off the charts. I'd go outside and throw Frisbees to him for an hour until my arm hurt, watching him do backflips and pirouettes to catch them. Come back inside, sit down on the sofa. He'd lie down for 2 minutes then go get his leash and drop it on my lap. And he'd look at me so sweet, I couldn't say no. I got really good at throwing Frisbees. Incredibly beautiful (unlike your hair) - and the sweetest, funniest, gentlest, most petable dog ever. Everybody loved him - until we'd walk past some neighborhood kids running around, and he'd take a flying leap out of nowhere and nail one on the bottom. He wasn't being aggressive or mean, and he wasn't trying to hurt the kid, he was just being what he was - but it was a BIG problem. My friend ended up having to send him to live on a farm. Heartbreaking for my friend and his family.
We had same protective behavior issues. She bit an 8 year old kid at the front door, she was running full speed. We sent her to be trained and she's doing great now. Still working with her but helped to have a professional start it out. She also hates fetch. I hear most are like the dog you described but mine will go fetch like 2 or 3 times and then look at you like you're stupid if you think they're going to keep doing the and thing over and over.

Aussie’s are the best dogs in the world!! I have had two- 1 female tri color/ unfortunately lost her to cancer at 7. I also had a red Merle. He was awesome. Past away at 15. Smart, great buddy. I miss him so much.
I watched this before getting my aussie. I have had him for almost a year now, he's such a character and I love him to bits. A very intense dog and stubborn at times but if you're a dedicated person it's great fun to have one
We have a 11 month old tri aussie in a 600 square feet apartment with our older dog 14. We had had no problems. Lots of toys. We go to the park every other day for an hour and that holds her over. I do recomend the aussie bread. She has been the best dog ever
Sometimes aussies can be pain in the ass but I can't imagine myself with any other dog. I love my aussie, he's my best friend. I love him with all of my heart. My poor baby has epilepsy. Please be careful choosing your breeder.
We got our tricolor pup on Christmas. Aussies are awesome dogs and can be good with children if they're socialized to them early. My only complaint is the same issue I had with the border collies I've owned - I wish they lived longer. These guys are so full of character it really guts you when they have to go. I'm starting to tear up right now thinking of my border collies that passed away over 10 years ago ... see?
Our Aussie adopted us last summer! He is the most laid back, gotta have a few naps a day kinda dog! We know he's under 2 yrs old, and in wonderful shape! He's my lifesaver! He showed up on the 2nd of July, around one of my darkest days in life. Just a few days before he arrived I was diagnosed with kidney failure, caused from the years of chemotherapy battling ovarian cancer. I can't get out to exercise often, and he doesn't seem to want to. We play fetch often, and learn tricks, but not nearly the handful of energy that everyone seems to say these guys have. When he showed up in our garage, he was in horrible condition! His previous owner had a shock collar on him that had burnt into his neck! Knots around his ears that were bigger than his ears! The next day I took him to the vet to see if he was chipped, he was, but the chip was never registered! And thank God! Even the veterinarian was relieved! Got all of his shots, then took him to the spa for a shampoo and haircut! He was a happy boy after that! I tell everyone who meets him, that he rescued me! 🐾🐾
I have two male Aussies named chewie and lando. Chewie came from a breeder and lando came from a litter chewie had with a mini Aussie. So now I have an oversized 65lb Aussie and an undersized 30lb Aussie. Both are very lovable and great with kids. I once took lando to a dog park and he walked up to a strange kid (looked about 5-7) just to play with him. And if anyone so much as makes a kid say ow around chewie he immediately put himself between the kid and that person.
yeah - mine lie too...they tell my husband that they've never been fed. They managed to play us off each other until we finally bought a clue and started asking each other first. It's why my Finn is on a diet.
I exercise my 1 year old Aussie 3-5x times per day. Running, wrestling, fetch, swimming. Probably a total of 3-4 hours per day of vigorous exercise. Sometimes, not even that is enough. I'm grateful that he loves going to daycare and gets to play ALL DAY.
My favorite breed of ALL TIME!! I will always have one till the day I die! However my job is training hoses for a living on a 14,000 acre ranch 🤷🏽♀️ so not your typical owner. However I have lived in apartments during college and he was totally fine, but my degree was in animal science so they got to go to the barn everyday for hours, and I ran 3mi almost everyday. Also went on hikes constantly. And I lived on a vineyard and they loooove vineyard life and helping you check the vines :)
Lol....I'm in love with Aussie's ..had them and waiting on my next one to be born, my last one was so hard to loose, she took my heart with her when she left.... They do need to work, and she would herd me through the house so I tell people with kids to get one to keep your kids in check, as this breed will herd them into rooms by groups, I miss mine so much and can't wait for my new shadow to come...the cats have no idea what lies ahead....lol
I've grown up with aussies always had at least one and have one now that is an identical to the one in the video accept mine is a female. From 26 years of personal experience with them they are wonderful for families and every dog is different all the ones we had and have now are wonderful with kids.
love my aussies! they do shed a lot lol but they are so much fun! I have a farm so lots of work for both of them, they love the horses so much, it’s super cute!
Hi! We are oldies--70's and 80's--and we are so enjoying our best dog ever. She is an AussieDoodle. She has all the advantages mentioned in the video--but she doesn't shed at all because she's 1/2 poodle. She loves, loves the whole family, knows them all well. Excellent with the children--let our 2 year old granddaughter climb all over her...when it was too much she just walked away. We live in a large apartment, and no issue--take her out twice or 3 times a day (good for us, too!) She's smart and so loving. I'd really recommend this mix for people in apartments, people with children and people who hate cleaning/breathing fur!
I have a mini aussie, I know he's going to trip me and kill me when I fall one of these days! Many of them have a barking problem hard to stop it. Other than that he's the best guard dog ever!
I have had 2 Aussies and they were both very relaxed. Their number one thing was to be with me. Not as energy oriented as they were companion oriented and they lived in my condo. I didn't have a yard but took them out 4 times a day
Agree my girl is the same. As long as she's with me she's happy. She does love long walks, playing frisbee etc. She is very smart, finds my remote when I can't..closes the door when I ask, brings me my blanket and pillow... she's ten now and still has the personality of a very young dog.. oh.. and she loves kids ..:)
spot on review...I was always a Rottweiler/pitbull kind of guy , I made an investment in a Aussie because I wanted my kids to have a fun dog to play with , I don't think I could ever not have an Aussie now
Our aussie doesn't like little kids. His butt wiggles are the best!! He's the best dog we've ever had. Love cuddles and I kiss his cheeks all day. We send him to a really good doggie day care 1 to 3 times a month-- they're outside as much as possible except for rain, snow, heat, cold.. he plays all day with other dogs. He loves it!!!
During the video the Aussie puts his chin on the arm of the couch - where have I seen that before? My Aussie is 3 next week. Very smart, lives for our games and training sessions. Love her. Your review was spot on.
Nice review, good cooked or raw diet along with great training and exercise they are awesome, but true they are active. Mine is my service dog and her limitations work perfect for what I need, she has learned to prevent things for me and in the environment. They are great to push you to do exercise and therapy. i do have a family to help with her activity I just drag her where I go and she loves it we do bump heads at times but we learn from each other too, she has learned to go shopping and find chemicals and dirty things as well as going to the city and pushing me away from things that are too crazy and will power walk me to safety and helping out at the hardware store and eating to again prevent chemcials sometimes found in foods and shelving units, they are a great taddler. . Hiking is better than the running. and they love the ball or any fetch item.
I have a black and white Aussie, got her when she was 8 weeks old and she will be 15 in February 2020. You are right about the Velcro which I LOVE about her. I always say I'll never find another dog that loves me as much as my Nikki does. They are also very protective and make a great guard dog. Well, at least Nikki is.
I have had my Aussie rescue (they said she has lab in her but I think she's a pure Aussie) for 11 years now and she's the best dog ever and your video is definitely spot on! Looking for a puppy Aussie to keep her young as they are the best dogs hands down. Velcro dogs: so accurate lol and it's wonderful :)
My husband and I have a corgi, we can pretty much describe them the same way. We're looking to buy a house and as soon as I have that house, we're looking into an Aussie to match the temperament of our corgi. Our corgi gets along best with other herdigg breeds that like to play race and chase.
This is crazy, i just logged on to youtube to search for info about aussies but before i even clicked on the search bar i see this video in my recommended videos. Its like youtube is reading my mind or something 🤪🤯
I have had 2 Aussie Shepherds and the eldest being 9 passed 2 months ago and the other one is 8, both of them are inside dogs, even when I go out and can't take them with me they're inside, in no way are they been destructive in the house even when I'm not there. When I let them out for the toilet I leave them out there for a minimum of 30 minutes to burn off their energy. I take them out to run around a minimum of 3 times a week as I have a back and knee injury. Yes, they're amazingly loyal and by your side whenever you move, mine have been amazing with any kids that come in the house and if they run around they will follow them but in no way with malice, they're very intelligent dogs and I haven't in any way had to keep their minds fully active. The main thing that's hard to maintain is their fur as they're always shedding it, I take mine to the groomers at least every 6 weeks because of my injuries but a more physical person can do themselves, the Aussie Shepherd is one of the most amazing dogs I have ever owned and would recommend them to anyone, even my daughter has 2 and no issues at all.
I have a Blue Merle with both blue eyes-this feature makes it challenging for him to get along with other dogs be cause his Look 👀 is so intense I think other dogs take it as a challenge. As a pup we lived in acreage, and he loved the neighbors kid so he had a lot of room to run and play. When he was about 2 we had to move to an apartment for about 2 years where he did quite well considering the down sizing an all. Now that we’re back to a house with a yard, He is pretty protective of “his territory” and the biggest challenge I have is the fence line scuffles with the neighbors dog, he has never been destructive and I’m not an that active of a person overall. He is at my foot All The Time, and often try’s to make me go where he wants instead of where I want. It’s really cute until he ends up tripping me- This, on separate occasions, has resulted in a broken arm, a sprained knee, and sprained ankle, but mostly because I was in a hurry and not paying attention, or in the dark and I couldn’t see him. He’s now young and healthy 14 and I wouldn’t have traded a single minute of it. If you’re ok with the ever present dog hair in your home and on you, the love and devotion of an Aussie can’t be beat 🥰
They are so much more than what your review shares. Their temperament is amazing. Extremely loveable and intelligent. They are great with kids IF the owners raise their children to respect the dog..as in any other breed. Both of my Aussies; were so very wonderful. Stop saying they are intense..ugh! They are intelligent and know what they want. Lots of love. If you cannot adopt an Aussie as a true part of your family..then don't get one. I give the AUSSIE a 10 on family friendly, temperament and training. Exercise: 1/2 to one hour maybe per day. Both of mine were at home all day; walked regularly and were well-behaved and AWESOME!!!
YES!!! Thanks man! This was so helpful for my wife and I. Definitely some things we weren't aware of. Alright one more request and I'm done... ALASKAN MALAMUTE! That's all we've owned and we lost our last boy to a hit and run this past August (hence why we are considering another dog). At your leisure of course. Thanks again!
I agree with this video. I do Dock Diving with my Aussie, and after that, he is pooped, but around 30 minutes later, he is back to ripping around the house like a dog that has no training. But when my kids were younger, they would run around and my 2 aussies would nip the ankles and get them into the corners barking at them, so, not the best around kids, especially the younger, more hyper kids. They WILL make a good companion for Service Dogs, with the right training, they can do alot. If you are wanting a dog to keep you company, you might want to have someone to exercise it, or it will get into trouble. I love them very much, If you are looking for good breeders in Central US, reply to this and I can give you a few. Red: Red Tri (in Video) Red Merle Blue: Blue Merle Blue Phantom(Rare) Black: Black Tri
I know you get a lot of request, but 2 breeds I would love to see are. 1. Dutch Shepherd 2. Redbone Coonhound. Both are great, but not very well known breeds.
My sister's family has one...and it HERDS everybody...kids...horses...everything! Her dog is VERY high strung, but it's a good guard dog for them. It's sweet (if it knows you). Otherwise, it's pretty aggressive around strangers. As you said...it NEEDS activity and mental/physical stimulation.
I spent 25 years with Aussies. I wanted to go ALL IN on being a breeder and agility and conformation. I found that the more intensely bred dogs are more ‘insane’. The females are self imposed Generals. I had one male that I would call a couch potato. I had one male I called the All Day Dog. He could and did fetch until his pads were raw. I bred once. We had three pups. Two contracted parvovirus right after their first shots and died, quickly. The survivor is an assistance dog. I still have the mother. She will be my last Aussie. I love them, but I am no longer in my 30’s. I am much happier with pound puppies now. I recommend this breed to smart people. If this dog thinks you are an idiot, they WILL walk all over you and steal your identity. ✌️😁
Val’s PTSD I have a question for you since you’ve owned aussies for years. I’m interested in buying a puppy that my friend is selling. But I live in a small apartment which is my room(big room), kitchen, and mother room. I have a regular sized backyard and a park right behind me where I go running. Now, I’m scared that my apartment will be too small for the dog and I just want the dog to be happy. Do you think the dog will be okay or not a good idea?
Jayy Cruz I believe they are considered not friendly for apartments, ONLY in that they need exercise. Regular exercise. If the dog is your running partner and sees the park daily. I see no problem. I also recommend puzzle-type games (like blocks they have to roll a certain way to get a treat), and an entertaining routine. Like making her sit and stay calmly before being given a release word to eat, or learning to carry the mail up from the mail box. Without cardio work, these dogs really become bored.
@@jayycruz2614 I have owned & bred aussies for 12 years. The bigger concern is how much time can they have interacting with someone. I have had high drive aussies that needed a treadmill in addition to hours of exercise a day and low drive aussies that a couple rounds of fetch were enough. This is not a dog you can leave alone all day while you are at work with just a couple of walks. Highly interactive. If you can be with them multiple times throughout the day, it can work. I would recommend you look at minis or toys, also. Purplemountainminis.com
Jayy Cruz I agree with being INTERACTIVE with them. I had a career that allowed me hours of access and still, every day was allllll day. Always remember, this is all a game and they have a large vocabulary. They are great dogs, but a more devoted companion, you will never have.
Ginny Trcka my biggest pain was a red Merle like your Tea, and my last female is a red-bi. My favorite of all time dog was a red-bi named Monster. He was the greatest dog of all time. Period. I miss him everyday. And it’s been 10yrs since I died in my arms.
I have an Aussie Doberman mix. She looks just like your dog except she doesn’t have a huge coat. She also has a patriots collar similar to your dogs pats handkerchief.
They shed all the time, not just in spring. You have to be ready for a lot of hair all the time. Good thing is it doesn’t stick like short hair. Lots of vacuuming and hair in your food! I feel having an outdoor space is crucial to their energy levels. If you keep them inside all day and only get outside on a leash they will get bored if you don’t walk them several times a day. They do well with underground fences and make property management their job. I can’t imagine not giving a dog that is bred to be autonomous outside a proper outside space.
I recommend this breed for first time dog owners who want and NEED a farm dog. Never had a good dog til I met the Australian Shepherd. We have a big backyard AND NEEDED a therapy dog and loves animals. I plan on giving my own dog pets of his own for gifts like kittens, chicks to herd.. Ducks maybe etc.. Maybe pigs.. Stuff like that. It depends.. I on the otherhand have all the time in the world.
I just got a mini aussie the dog inhad before was a aussie mix I love the breed i just dont like docked tail but it something you have to live with love aussies
I have always had aussies. Every single one have been FABULOUS with my children! Then know when to herd and when not to. They will RUN WITH the children. Now, I have a grandson who is autistic. I got him an aussie pup. The pup is currently 7 months old. When my grandson gets upset, he will "elope" meaning take off on his own. The dog has begun to STOP MY GRANDSON from taking off! He only does this when my grandson is upset and running off! He was not taught to do this. He has simply picked up on the behaviors, and has stepped up to help. IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN< THESE ARE GREAT DOGS TO HAVE!!!!! When my boys were little, I had one that learned where the boundary was in the yard, that I did not want the kids to go past. The dog would monitor this! AND STOP THE KIDS IF THEY TRIED TO PASS THE BOUNDARY!!! THEY ARE SIMPLY AMAZING DOGS!!! Don't listen to this guy! THESE DOGS ARE GREAT FOR KIDS!
Thank you for this input. Contemplating a mini Australian shepherd for me. Our youngest has Down Syndrome and when we are out on hikes, it would be helpful to have a dog who might help us gently keep him in line lol. Meeting the father of a litter next week. Will see.
I have a mini Australian Shepherd... He is my service dog.. I would never get anything else.. The funny thing mine is more lazy.. But has his moments when he was to go all crazy. Lol.. Anyways thanks for the video
The sheeps they work on in Amerika cames from Australia because they are good with the hot weather in Texas,.. so they call the dogs Australian Shepherd.
I have a double merle Australian shepherd and she is deaf. In fact she is my profile picture along with my peke. She'll be turning 8 this Novemer she is a red Double merle. As long as I had Buffy she has always been pretty laid back and gentle in personality wise. But also I worked with her alot and training courses. She was also very very good with kids well she was raised around my son too.
I 've had 5 Aussie's....2 had 1/4 lab ...Cons; all had eye issues at end of life. All were skittish even though they were around guns, many loud noises, farm animals and equipment...Pros, easy to train, no anxiety issues, 10k walks every day plus 1 hr of training /play. They loved everyone and got along great with all dogs as they were socialized well. Excellent recall, all were great with whistle, hand and voice commands....These dogs are so enjoyable when well trained.
Do you also have an unboxing video of this Australian shepherd?
Bryan Laxer 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
That's a cute idea I will be getting my third in four weeks we might have to steal your idea lol

I'm sure Chinese channels do lol.
There's something just funny above "reviewing" a dog 😂
Yooo fr tho😂😂 like it’s a dog not a game lol
Ya....
legit💀

Aside from being liars... i😭😂🤣😅
yeah - mine lie too...they tell my husband that they've never been fed. They managed to play us off each other until we finally bought a clue and started asking each other first. It's why my Finn is on a diet.
My Aussie is a rescue from the pound, he LOVES the kids. He’s 200% a family dog and for sure a shadow.
As an owner of a mini Aussie, In my opinion. I have to say it's the best breed ever and the intelligence level is amazing. Love my aussie. ❤
I'm blind. I'm assuming Mark Wahlberg narrated this video?

I exercise my 1 year old Aussie 3-5x times per day. Running, wrestling, fetch, swimming. Probably a total of 3-4 hours per day of vigorous exercise. Sometimes, not even that is enough.
I'm grateful that he loves going to daycare and gets to play ALL DAY.
We need to start reviewing humans too.
Let’s review the Indians

I have and always had Aussies. You hit the nail on the head however I would give them much higher than a 4 for temperament
I have a wonderful Aussie and she is everything to me. Gives me a reason to get up and hit the trails every day.
I've grown up with aussies always had at least one and have one now that is an identical to the one in the video accept mine is a female. From 26 years of personal experience with them they are wonderful for families and every dog is different all the ones we had and have now are wonderful with kids.
Lots of work in having this bread. Very rewarding dog 🤙🏻
love my aussies! they do shed a lot lol but they are so much fun! I have a farm so lots of work for both of them, they love the horses so much, it’s super cute!
Best Breed Ever. Miss my girl sooooo much 💙
traci parker mee too 😔😔😢😢☹️☹️
@@addybonet5733 I'm so sorry.
Again three in my condo. They are all well balanced. We have a dog area. All my dogs are excellent frisbee catchers.
Mine sheds once s year.
@@thejerseydebil Mine is 11 and is the same as yours. I have high Hope's for a long life for him.
@@lindyt2244 as do I. Hard to imagine life without our amazing Aussies.
Love my aussies and yes, they have super high energy! Taking them to daycare helps run off their energy.
Ive always wanted an Australian shepherd
spot on review...I was always a Rottweiler/pitbull kind of guy , I made an investment in a Aussie because I wanted my kids to have a fun dog to play with , I don't think I could ever not have an Aussie now
YAAAAY ITS GOOD TO KNOW HOW TO TAKE VEEERY GOOD CARE OF AN AUSSIE!!!!!!! THERE MY FAV DOG EVER!! NO CHANCE OF CHANGING MY MIND!!!!!!
Mine too!
Have two of these guys, this dude is very accurate!
I'm getting my Aussie in 9 days!!!!!! I'm so excited!
What a cute doggo!
We love our Aussies!
Me, a woman with 3 Aussies: I love this. Review my dogs please.
YES!!!
I have a blue merle Aussie and she is the best dog I have ever had
2 Years old but your dog looks exactly like the puppy I got last August.
I'm super hyperactive so having this dog would fit right in!! I just got a border collie/Australian Shepard to add to my pack🤗

Love these dogs so much great video
Thanks brothah!
So true!! Love my aussie
“Stage 5 Clinger” sorry I just thought that was really funny😂😅
It's so true though.
I know you get a lot of request, but 2 breeds I would love to see are. 1. Dutch Shepherd 2. Redbone Coonhound. Both are great, but not very well known breeds.
Dutch Shepherd is one of my favorite breeds L.O.D.
Mine used to kill those Kong balls. Great toys for Aussies
You crack me up! Love the energy! My sweet girl is my running partner!
I have a 5 year old red Merle and he’s still the most playful and hyper dog at the dog park.
If you read up on aussie, not all have docked tails, they are born that way.
10 out of 5 star doggo 🐶
That smile!
Great dog. Period!!!! 5/5.
Will see.
Accurate good video. I'm biased but I think they are a 10 out of 10.
The dog is ready to go now! We have a 2 year old in alaska.. amazing dog to say the least..!
I have a tricolor Aussie...And yes he is my shadow...
I had a big Red Tri who looked very similar to your dog.... He was absolutely magnificent.... Copper was a "frizbee dog" all the way!
Love my Aussie
I have a mini Australian Shepherd... He is my service dog.. I would never get anything else.. The funny thing mine is more lazy.. But has his moments when he was to go all crazy. Lol.. Anyways thanks for the video
Good something in my recommend that's cute
funny review! I'm from New England so I love the Patriots bandana
My Aussie ate our flooring when she was a puppy during the winter when it was -38c for a week and couldn't take her out lol... That sucked
Great review. Editing is on point 👌
The sheeps they work on in Amerika cames from Australia because they are good with the hot weather in Texas,.. so they call the dogs Australian Shepherd.
Sorry for my Bad english. I hope you get my point. Greetz from Germany
Excellent recall, all were great with whistle, hand and voice commands....These dogs are so enjoyable when well trained.
i have an aussie pyrenees mix, great dog chill af, guess the pyrenees took all the crazyness out of him
