I have never had a waist, even when I was skinny. I loved the side tuck with the elastic band. That will be my new look. I find clothing companies made shirts too long. This tuck will look better.

I can relate to this because my waist is short, so I always prefer how I look with my shirts tucked in.

From someone who lives in the US, where they love to overthink fashion, (someone is gonna tell me "Oh honey your shirt came untucked!") thank you for reminding us that this stuff is supposed to be relaxed and fun! 😃 I am going to try that idea with the rubber band to keep things in place!

Thank you Marie-Anne for making this technique easy and fun. I normally wear my shirts untucked because I feel that a full tuck looks awkward with my short torso and big bottom, and also because I prefer a more relaxed look. However some shirts just don't look that good untucked! The french tuck looks like the perfect compromise. I love the way it creates a more flattering soft line instead of a straight line across the hips. It looks like it is probably flattering for all types of figures!

You know I never knew this was a “thing” or French for that matter. I see people with this half tuck and tried to do myself but it looked dorky. After watching you, I’m like ok, this could work if you just relax about it. So thank you for making it fun and easy for us. Another great video. I like to tuck a shirt or tee shirt in right at the outer side of my waist because it indicates my legs are longer (I’m only just over 5 ft 3) but still partly conceals my tummy (of which there is more than I would like).

I’m really happy to have found this video. I was totally confused by the whole French tuck look, couldn’t figure out how to do it at all without looking like a small boy who had been to the loo and was in a hurry to go back out to play! I’m afraid that’s still what comes to mind first, particularly the shirt with one corner out and one tucked in, but I’ve discovered that I really like it with some of my thinner jumpers and proper high waisted trousers. You’ve given me some ideas here, I’ll keep experimenting! 😊

I am so glad you made this video, Marie-Anne. I tried and tried, but I was not getting this quite right because I wasn't rolling the edges. I think this is a great example of classic French style incorporating a trend. One funny anecdote--If I wear black and white I always wear black on top because Jackie O.--my other style Icon--says the other way makes one look like a waiter! LOL. You look perfectly chic, as always.

I love a french tuck with cotton tees and denim but very often the metal button on the Jean's has worn small holes in my tee shirt. Since wearing the french tuck , no problem.

I loved this video-so informative! BUT-I am an apple shape and rarely (or never) want to emphasize my waistline. Is there any circumstance you can think of where an apple could do this? My “gut”feeling (LOL) is never!

I think a looser blouse that drapes would be lovely for an apple shape
Especially tying it in just the right spot

Hi, Sally, I am a fellow-apple :). I wear my shirt in a French tuck sometimes or tie low at the waist, and both are cute on me (I think). The key--for me--is the neckline. As long as I stick to v-necks or scoops the eye is still drawn up away from my tummy. Marie-Anne taught me that!

Before watching your video, I would just tuck in the front and leave it like that without rolling the fabric in - that's why it always looked just messy rather than chic LOL Thanks for the tutorial!! Super helpful x

One elephant in the room is that many women would not want to reveal a tummy. The French tuck definitely brings the eye to that area! MAYBE there is a way to address that. @@MarieAnneLecoeur

It is actually a very clever way of concealing it - hiding in plain sight as it were. But if you want more then watch here ua-cam.com/video/FakOT1fYxCI/v-deo.html 😘

Yes, I watched that video. Luckily I don't have a tummy to hide, but this is all good advice. I love your emphatic and dramatic way of speaking. @@MarieAnneLecoeur
