- From Dario Argento, maestro of the macabre and the man behind some of the greatest excursions in Italian horror (Suspiria, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage), comes Deep Red - the ultimate giallo movie.
One night, musician Marcus Daly (David Hemmings, Blow Up), looking up from the street below, witnesses the brutal axe murder of a woman in her apartment. Racing to the scene, Marcus just manages to miss the perpetrator… or does he? As he takes on the role of amateur sleuth, Marcus finds himself ensnared in a bizarre web of murder and mystery where nothing is what it seems…
Aided by a throbbing score from regular Argento collaborators Goblin, Deep Red (aka Profondo Rosso and The Hatchet Murders) is a hallucinatory fever dream of a giallo punctuated by some of the most astonishing set-pieces the sub-genre has to offer.

Can the film be heard in the Original Italian? I hate dubbing.
@@jeffreykaufmann2867 yes but that’s dubbed too. Italian films were shot silently back then and all actors spoke their own language. So the Italian track will have Italian dubbed over actors speaking English
@@Jamesleeperkins ...but the Italian actors were better at dubbing because they were used to it. And the Italian version features the actual dialogues written by Argento. And, at the cost of sounding like a nitpicker, Italian movies were not exactly shot silent: there were soundmen recording production sound that was later used to synch the dubbed tracks. You cannot dub a movie that was shot completely silent - or, more precisely, you can, but the budget would skyrocket, as the sound editors\engineers would have to go through every scene frame-by-frame looking for some reference for synching. Stanley Kubrick famously shot his first movie, "Fear and Desire", with no sound - adding it in post made the budget increase from 10K to 53000 dollars.
"Deep Red"(1975) is an excellent mystery thriller movie!The ending scene of the movie was creepy and very unpredictable!
Why spoil a big twist of the movie in the trailer?
I get that it's an old movie, but isn't the point of these remasters, to introduce them to new generations?

Ironically it reminds me of the old spoiler-filled trailers to 70’s and 80’s films. Although Argento’s films were an exception to that rule, the Italian trailers told you absolutely nothing about the film.
Agreed. Now i know who did it when i was only looking for the familiar soundtrack used, because it's awesome... Still curious and going to watch it though. 🙈

The movie's still worth watching for the great aesthetics though, that's why i rewatch it often.
My favorite of Argento's early Giallo's. Solidly entertaining and beautifully shot (at the very least). I recommend it to anyone who has never seen it, but being an Argento film as fantastic as it is, I'm guessing most people have.

In regard to the *Giallo all'italiana* Dario Argento's "Profondo rosso" is the climax of the genre - a true masterpiece!
My favourite Argento film but I already own the limited edition Blu-ray so I'll be giving this one a miss. The blacks here do look fantastic.

Synapse owned the rights to Tenebrae in the US last I checked. They did a great 4k of Suspiria though so we'll see. Just got my 4k of Deep Red a couple days ago.
I sent an email to Synapse. They said they’ve discussed it but there are no solid plans yet.

Yes, Tenebrae 4K will be released by Arrow on 16th July with at least 2 cover variants (that includes the Arte Original cover art work). Synapse USA will also be releasing Tenebrae 4K. I've already pre-ordered my Arrow copy! Good luck on acquiring yours!👍👍
The same little boy (Albert) at 0:54 played by Jacopo Mariani, also starred previously in Profondo Rosso AKA Deep Red (1975) Carlo as a young child. You remember him in that infamous scene where he picks up the Butcher Knife with his father's blood on it.
This is Deep Red. I think you meant to say that he starred 2 years later in Suspiria.
This is an otherwise great trailer but why such huge spoilers on the last scene of the trailer ;; you don't have to ruin this film.

Uh oh Arrow do you think you could fix this movie on iTunes? Playing the main feature gives the same truncated "international cut" that's given as the alternate feature in the extras menu. So it's missing the longer better director's cut.

Was this preview trailer re-edited from the original? Its vibes are off, feels like a trailer made in the 2010s & not the '70s. There's even that annoying 2000s cliche of cutting off the background music to tell a 'joke' to the audience.
