Great job with the car! Funny encounter with Christopher Lloyd. I'm surprised they didn't give him some private room to eat lunch in. I am happy that you got his autograph and have the story to share. This whole build brings back so many fun memories of watching "Back to the Future." Thanks for bringing us on the journey!
I felt the same, I thought it was weird that they didn’t give him privacy…but maybe when you get to a certain level of celebrity you get used to people watching you do everything. But I was excited even though it was a little awkward lmao!
I always say, no matter what happens good or bad, it makes a good story!! 😆 Short videos are good--sometimes I might watch a shorter one sooner if I don't have time for a long one. ❤
Thanks so much for sharing the story of how you met Christopher Lloyd. I needed cheering up today. I think I would have been tempted to try to talk to him, asking if his lunch was good, lol. I noticed peanut butter cups on the table in the pictures. Did he eat any of those?
It's so weird when I meet celebrities I rarely have conversations with them, I always have this sense that they just want to sign your picture and move on, however, my BFF who is usually with me, always asks lots of questions and through her is when I actually start to have a real conversation. so funny!
What a day! And what a memory. It was hilarious! LoL! Great pics. Fantastic sculpt, great project. I really like the way it turned out. Your visions and the way you make them come together are so fun to watch. I can't wait to see the room come together.
Whitney! Do you even realize how amazing this is?!?!?! I love it SO MUCH! And I must say you are quite the Michelangelo of foam sculpting! So fun to watch this whole video. The story of getting the autograph is hilarious. I had no idea paying for autographs was a thing 😳 I love that you made a scene! 🥳🥪❤
my poor friend was not happy I made a little scene, but it just upset me that they would charge so much money for an autograph on an object that I brought and then charge less for an autograph on a headshot that they offer you..IDK seemed silly. I am thrilled you enjoyed the making of this car. The foam cutter is everything cause I used so much foam for the base of many items I build, larger structures like cabinets/ counters, beds, things that are covered with other materials, but mastering straight cuts with the cutter is more difficult and so creating the cardboard stencil was absolutely life changing for me! But I will make another DeLorean, I feel like I could really do a better job now knowing some of the things I learned.
Once I figured out how I would do it, it was so incredibly fun….i was a little intimidated with the idea of making a 1:12 scale car but my fear is gone, it was really fun!
Wow oh wow … as usually! Such a good learning experience (and entertaining of course!) to watch this - never knew the foam cutter was even a thing! The car turned out fabulous! Again … your mad skills!! Great autograph story! Love your logic and hutzpah! “Not a spring chicken” = give grace! Priceless! 😳🤣 TFS, Kathleen
lmao yes I think I've told you before that I work in senior living and so most of my friends are in their mid 70's all the way to 105! I say friends because when you work in senior living they really do become your friends and many times even adopted family. Mr. Lloyd is 85 and so having to sign autographs and chit chat with strangers for 8-10 hours has got to be exhausting, so yes "grace" has to be apart of the equation! The foam cutter has got to be one of my favorite tools, life changing for someone like me who often uses foam for projects. I used to cut it with a utility knife but it created such a mess, the foam cutter is amazing!
I think the car came out really good! I can see what you mean about wanting to cover it with some kind of sealer. But hey, all the gadgets, wires and doo-dahs make it look authentic, so good job! That is so funny about Christopher Lloyd. I had a somewhat similar experience with Shirley Jones. I had to wait for her to eat her lunch, which consisted of a little salad (I think it was also in a styrofoam box!). But we did actually converse, which was nice. I've met several famous people (perhaps harder for me because I live in NJ instead of CA, but still). I had a FANTASTIC experience meeting The Fonz, Henry Winkler. He was an ABSOLUTE DOLL! Glad everything worked out well in the long run, even if it was expensive and took a bunch of hours!
I would love to meet Henry Winkler! He just seems like he would be so so nice! I have had other really great experiences meeting celebrities, this one was a little "meh" but the truth is that many famous people are actually not very social. Many that I have met are even a little shy, which I identify as cause I'm shy too! lol As far as the car goes, I feel like many of my projects are a "one and done" but I really enjoyed this and I feel I could do a better job, and because the project cost zero dollars to make, I feel like I would make another better version!
Oh wow! How amazing did that turn out! I can't believe you made that out of foam. I definitely need a foam cutter.. I didn't even know those exsist!!! And your story.. I would have been feeling the same way..ok I get a compensation for the autograph. They have to get paid for their time I'm sure, but paying to bring your own item in ..to me is really ridiculous and I probably would have had the same arguement..like I'm on a budget okay cut a girl some slack..we're starving artist over here😂🤣 The car is awesome, even if it's just the back end. The work you did on it is amazing. And the illusion totally works! Great job, my friend!👏🏽👏🏽❤🥰
yeah, so my friend was saying that they charge more for autographs on items you bring in because its assumed that the monetary value on the item you are having signed with go up over time versus an autograph picture that is addressed to a specific person like "to Whitney, from Chris Lloyd" but most of us are keeping the items as special treasures that we are holding on to forever. It just felt a little shady...but the experience of being there with so many people who loved the movies as much as I did and of course the celebrity appearances was a really fun environment to be in! on another note, you have to get a foam cutter if you do a lot of foam cutting, it's about $14 and worth every penny. It really makes a difference.
Hi Whitney! I have been following Ara @BentleyHouseMinis for a while now and saw your collab and I am so glad I did. I am now following you and love your work. I live in Oxnard, CA. We are practically neighbors! So excited to realize we are close to each other. For last Mother's Day, I kids bought me my first miniature room kits and I can't wait to start! I blame my new love on miniatures on Ara...lol.
Woow, you met “THE LLOYD???” (Nobody calls him that,I know.) Honestly,my favorite role that he played was when he wasn’t a famous character actor yet. It was in ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’. He nailed it in the scene at the end, where Big Chief throes the sink through the window and escapes. Christopher Lloyd’s character, his reaction to this event is a masterpiece,it brings a tear to my eye. Watch that moment, you’ll know it when you see it. OMG FOAMLOREAN! I love it! very clever...so funny thing, I had the opportunity to meet Louise Fletcher, it was very close to when she passed away, my friend has her autograph from that meeting. She was lovely. One Flew...was an excellent movie and yes one of Christophers most well acted roles!
That’s right ,foamlorean. FMC. Run FMC,great foam-style rappers. Woooow you met Louise Fletcher???? Now see, this is a big deal to me,this meet up,because I watched the movie many times since childhood, and watched Nutse Ratchet do her evil, but I also realized that she was an actor doing a masterpiece of a character,I wonder if she knew that she would go down in modern film history as one of the greatest antagonists ever? For the record,I always thought that she was very beautiful, and had to separate the evil character from the lovely actor. I hope she won an Oscar for that role,I have no idea…
@@charlesperez9976 the two movies I loved her in as a kid was FireStarter and this other movie called BrainStorm…it wasn’t till I was a little older that I saw her performance as Nurse Rached, but wow she was so good being so bad!

I can’t wait to finish this room. I had hoped to complete it for this video but too many things were going on this month! Sitting at the airport now on my way to Florida for a work conference and of course the flight just got delayed! Ugh 😩

The cardboard car shapes on the side were genius for sculpting that piece! Those foam cutters are almost impossible to control lol! So fun!
Probably the smartest thing I did in the entire build…made a huge difference and really did give me more control!
