I miss when Directs were like this, not just because Iwata is sadly not with us, but they were more focused on the actual 1st party titles, nowadays Directs are just filled with ports of 3rd party games from generations ago - not that that's a bad thing, more 3rd party support is certainly welcome, but I just feel like we don't hear all that much about what new games Nintendo themselves are working on in comparison.

I really wish I could talk in private with one of these powerful Nintendo people right now. A few days ago I thought of an idea that is just incredibly amazing. It's really something the last generation of gaming will be doing.
1) Touchscreens in video games were introduced with the DS 2) the first motion controller was Le Stick in 1981 followed by the Mallet Powerglove for the NES in 1989 3)as for multi-monitors the DC came first and the WiiU followed 4)in gaming the 3DS was the first
Nintendo, can you please edit the description to include time links for each game, and include it for future posts? I.e. 0:52 - Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, 3:36 - Mario Golf: World Tour, etc.
1) Touch Screen was first introduced to GAMING with Nintendo DS, and for home consoles for the WiiU. 2) EyeToy is not a motion control, it is a gesture recognition camera - a gaming webcam. PowerGlove was the first appearence of motion sensor acessories on Videogame Industry. 3) The use of dual-screens was revolutionized by Nintendo with the NDS. 4) WTF did you say here? The N3DS revolutionized the 3D concept with no 3D glasses needed, and it's a handheld. Every FACT on Wikipedia.
be patient this was a 3ds Direct and E3 is around the corner where nintendo is going to unveil more games such as Retro Studios games and it is going to be mainly about WIIU
Really happy that they're putting Oracle of Seasons and Ages on eShop! In my carelessness of childhood, I may have damaged the cartridges for those games... but now I get to play them again! =D
you should have made majoras mask for the 3ds. nintendo fans loved the challenge. they would love the challenge now and it would have been portable. it was your hardest legend of zelda game yet
Most people around the world think English is the hardest language because it has so many words that multiple meanings among other things and the way some words are spelt.
They didn't actually announce any new Wii U games, they just gave details about ones we already knew about. Except EarthBound of course. E3 will probably be 100% (or close to it) Wii U-focused. That's where we will get Smash Bros news, Retro's project, a new Mario Kart for Wii U, and a 3D Mario for Wii U, among the games that were already announced.
: D Satoru Iwata surrounded by those Luigi's... Pfft, that was so funny~ I feel as if Nintendo are a lot closer to their fans than other gaming giants out there. The mere fact that Satoru Iwata uses English in many Nintendo directs, the sense of humor and the fact that they release videos giving fans an insight on the year really makes a difference.
Probably something to do with increased "Online" functions? There's a "Nintendo Network" logo on the game box (22:05), which could mean online multiplayer?
I was inspired to watch this Direct after a clip was shown in GTV Japan's Year of Luigi retrospective. Any chance to see and hear Satoru Iwata is worth taking. ❤
Just as with the 3DS, the best time to create a marketing blitz is when these games are available instead of wasting your resources on advertising early. With the right combination of games, marketing, and price they can sweep the competition easily.
1. I didn't say anything about gender. 2. You also, don't have a right to butt in on someones argument. 3. I am not angry that he didn't take my side. 4. A white night is someone who defends another on the internet. Constantine Chernobyl anyone?
Iwata at 10:06: These courses are designed so you will be tempted to play them again and again English Translation: These courses are designed to mess you up big time with a difficulty level that will make you miss Zelda II and will require hours upon hours to complete.
yep the only POSSIBLE reason someone could ever dislike Nintendo is if they're a Sony fan (despite the fact that literally nothing about that comment or his account indicates that) it's not like someone can like both of the companies or anything.
That one moment when this was the week before youtubers and websites collectively shat their pants when Iwata announced that they were switching to this format (ie Nintendo Directs) at that year's E3
No. There won't be a huge stage presentation at the Nokia theatre by Nintendo at E3. Iwata has stated that they will however be there and they will have their own booth and showcase their games.
They need to fix the 3d screen on the 3ds to allow for separate focusing options on each of the double screen image displayed to compensate for people with one weaker eye then the other.
There was an article saying that these professional translators (like Kingdom Hearts 2 translation worthy) Came over to Nintendo and said that if they're gonna make a Mother 3 game. Then the translators will do it for free if money's the problem. It's that level of dedication that makes me love being with Earthbound (and Nintendo in a broader view).
When Nintendo releases a new console or handheld, you are able to play games from the previous console/handheld in the line. Are they gonna sell the gamepad seperetly for the next console and make the next handheld 3D as well.
In and around E3. They just announced that E3 will be all about WiiU software hence the reason why the 3DS has been getting so much coverage. They are getting everything 3DS related out of the way so they can focus solely on the Wii U
Nintendo, PLEASE include the ability to play the original Link to the Past (in 3D of course) in addition to the new game. That would make this release SO EPIC. Everyone, please thumb this comment up if you agree!!
I thought this was the most amazing Nintendo Direct until I realized. A sequal to a Link to the Past, wasn't Link's awakening supposed to continue on the direct story?
well, about the games themselves, not really. But that "new" Pokémon was confirmed to be a new Mewtwo forme and not a separate Pokémon, through the release of a trailer of the upcoming movie
Iwata standing with Mario and Luigi is easily the cutest thing in Nintendo Direct history.
Am I the only one who likes to bingewatch these? They are great to listen to while playing 3DS :)
and switch
no you aren't
Doing that right now.

Y'know the series only stopped due to country complications.
PhantomJMA The series stopped because the creator was content with the trilogy

+Nintendo Did you guys ever release GBA and N64 games on the Wii U? or is there still some development issues going on with that?
they're out along with DS games as well

Dude. Hasbro kinda owns MLP.
As a 3DS owner I'm really excited and satisfied with all the games, hopefully it won't take long before the WiiU takes off as well.

Thank you so much Nintendo for your plans on releasing Earthbound to the US!
We were discussing the game before it became available on the US VC. It regularly goes for hundreds of dollars for a SNES copy.

Even though I do love my PS3, I do still enjoy Nintendo games. Still offering what other consoles do not. Nice bright fun adventure and puzzles games.
Pressing B to get to the Wii menu ??? I had no idea ! Who would have thought I would learn something kinda useful in a 5 year old direct ?
Really happy that they're putting Oracle of Seasons and Ages on eShop! In my carelessness of childhood, I may have damaged the cartridges for those games... but now I get to play them again! =D
22:52 I recently friended the one with that post in the middle, and took a look at it.
I hope to hear more info on Mario golf world tour in the next Nintendo direct.
I learn that Breaking Benjamin is getting back together and all of this about Nintendo at the same time. I'm about to die of HAPPINESS.
Yes, I realise that.
But his reference to $8 was obviously referring to the virtual console.
Pikmin 3 Release date, Oracle games coming to 3DS, Earthbound VC coming to US, LttP 2. This has to be the best Nintendo Direct ever.

Most people around the world think English is the hardest language because it has so many words that multiple meanings among other things and the way some words are spelt.
thank you for your suggestion. unfortunately that only help internet connectivity issues.
It would be nice to have N64 games for 3DS~ :)

Use quotation marks to highlight what you want someone to focus on, such as "their".
Just as with the 3DS, the best time to create a marketing blitz is when these games are available instead of wasting your resources on advertising early. With the right combination of games, marketing, and price they can sweep the competition easily.
we have two remakes. this link to the past shares the same map but will different in almost every other way.
DEFINITELY at E3. Mr. Iwata said so in January's Nintendo Direct.
1. I didn't say anything about gender.
2. You also, don't have a right to butt in on someones argument.
3. I am not angry that he didn't take my side.
4. A white night is someone who defends another on the internet.
Constantine Chernobyl anyone?
"We at Nintendo are celebrating the 'Ear of Luigi' by releasing 'Mario is Missing' for Virtual Console"
This was the Direct that made me lose my mind over Bravely Default finally getting a localized release!
Ohmigosh! This is the first time I've seen Mr. Iwata speak English! :O
Iwata at 10:06: These courses are designed so you will be tempted to play them again and again
English Translation: These courses are designed to mess you up big time with a difficulty level that will make you miss Zelda II and will require hours upon hours to complete.
The best part of Nintendo direct? The auto captions adventure of a lifetime.
yep
the only POSSIBLE reason someone could ever dislike Nintendo is if they're a Sony fan (despite the fact that literally nothing about that comment or his account indicates that)
it's not like someone can like both of the companies or anything.
Ah, Satoru Iwata. There's a name I've noticed in the credits of at least 100 games I've played.
I wonder if those E3 demos will be available at Future Shops as well?
Mario Party 3ds releasing in winter is actually a good descision, as its right around Christmas.
That one moment when this was the week before youtubers and websites collectively shat their pants when Iwata announced that they were switching to this format (ie Nintendo Directs) at that year's E3
3:18 is the reason I love Nintendo
No. There won't be a huge stage presentation at the Nokia theatre by Nintendo at E3. Iwata has stated that they will however be there and they will have their own booth and showcase their games.
I like how in mario party some boards are a race to a finish line
Games to preorder this year:
Pikmin 3
WindWaker HD
Mario Kart U (possible but could be a rumor)
They need to fix the 3d screen on the 3ds to allow for separate focusing options on each of the double screen image displayed to compensate for people with one weaker eye then the other.
I love how Iwata pronounces Earthbound.
I think I might be the only person excited that they're bringing back Bumper Balls in the new Mario Party.
I heard the N64 remake got good sales both physically and digitally. A new game for Wii U with online is just what that console needs!
He didn't say they did, he said Nintendo didn't.
EarthBound coming to the West after all these years might finally drum up interest for Mother 3.
Mr.Iwatas English has improved a lot! :O
Everyone is fighting about which language is hardest and all I have to day is that the first language you learn is the easiest for you.
Propably saving it for next weeks Nintendo Direct, or maybe for E3?
When Nintendo releases a new console or handheld, you are able to play games from the previous console/handheld in the line. Are they gonna sell the gamepad seperetly for the next console and make the next handheld 3D as well.
His videos aren't getting removed, they'll just have ads on them. He get's so many views a video, it wouldn't matter.
now let's make nintendo bring Nintendo detective club
22:10 is when many fans' prayers get answered
Wait, no scratch that. It was more like 9 months, but that's still not 2 YEARS.
In and around E3. They just announced that E3 will be all about WiiU software hence the reason why the 3DS has been getting so much coverage. They are getting everything 3DS related out of the way so they can focus solely on the Wii U
rock on. This is was cooler and more frequent/relevant then E3
If you want to really get technical, Hang On, a game where players had to physically sit and move on a motorcycle, came out before the Power Glove.
Nintendo, PLEASE include the ability to play the original Link to the Past (in 3D of course) in addition to the new game. That would make this release SO EPIC. Everyone, please thumb this comment up if you agree!!
This is the best Nintendo Direct ever.
This year is also the anniversary of Star Fox. I'm hoping for a new game for that series. PLEASE!!!
We still get to See Mario Kart, Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros, etc
I guess you are right about waiting for E3 before I give up...
I thought this was the most amazing Nintendo Direct until I realized.
A sequal to a Link to the Past, wasn't Link's awakening supposed to continue
on the direct story?
Try "Technical Support over Chat" they are pretty quick I had problem with my 3ds when I forgot my pin number
No, the Microvision is the first handheld.
Mr. Iwata seems like a cool guy.
well, about the games themselves, not really. But that "new" Pokémon was confirmed to be a new Mewtwo forme and not a separate Pokémon, through the release of a trailer of the upcoming movie
Mario Party 3DS is looking very promising! A lot of the ideas look new. :D
my childhood snes games coming back to me. yoshi island, link to the past, and donkey kong
I love the horde of Luigi
