I just wanna take a moment to appreciate that these Nintendo Direct videos have really stepped up the communication between Nintendo and the player audience. I'm glad to see what seem to me like new novel ideas in major intellectual properties, and I probably wouldn't be aware of these ideas if not for Nintendo Direct.
To whom it may concern at Nintendo, I enjoy the product that your company has to offer and specifically the Wii U. And as a fan I want Nintendo to offer the best in services, not just for my benefit but for countless other potential/current fans. I would like to request a few key things from Nintendo. * On screen organizational folders for Wii U * The ability to communicate with friends though Wii U while playing games * A unified virtual console account that allows games purchased once and played on both 3DS and Wii U * A “join game” feature for Wii U * On screen notifications of updates and messages for Wii U * A larger selection of games (third party, second party, virtual console, independent) for us to purchase for Wii U; this will help us wait during the long development cycles of Nintendo’s new first party titles I do thank you for taking the time in reading this message. Sincerely, fRiEnD #nintendoredirect
I appreciate UA-cam spoiling the fact that a Nintendo Direct will be happening sometime soon!!! Thank you UA-cam algorithm!!! Waiting for a Nintendo Direct to happen during the week of 1/12/20 - 1/18/20.
That's a bit too soon. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with he fact that just yesterday we had a Super Smash Brothers Direct, but it could be possible. My guess is that we're due for a Nintendo Direct sometime in mid February, or early March.
I understand the whole meaning behind the Wii U's name (Wii meant family play, and the U means the GamePad person is seeing something different and it's more personalized), but if they really wanted to keep the Wii brand name, they should've just called it Wii 2.
don't listen to the haters rambling about nintendo, I'm 22 going 23 and still play their games, it's the best way to get in touch with my childhood. When my buddies and I were little we train our pokemon and battle it out every chance we get on our gameboy color and gameboy advance, damn I miss those days
nintendo fans are nutting their pants over having 7 or 8 good games next year. lol that isnt even a game per month. and that is also assuming you want every single game they are putting out. you wii u owners have no choices. unless of course you play other systems. in which case this video is 100% right and you have no justification to thumb it down. live with it
Nintendo has a great and dedicated fan base (not all, but alot of people). Nintendo Direct is a great way to inform us fans about Nintendo's new projects and releases. But I really wish Nintendo would start advertising now. I rarely see their commercials on television or displayed in other forms of media. Its almost the holidays so its a perfect to do so now!
This was a pretty good Nintendo Direct, especially since the one last month left me wanting. I was hoping for more information on the upcoming Monolith Soft game though. Still, can't complain overall.
The reason is becasue the PS channel began all the way in December 2005 (10 months after UA-cam was established on February 14, 2005). Nintendo's channel on the other is fairly new, which started recently sometime last year of 2012. 7 years difference between them on the fact PS had a big head start. Nintendo is doing very well in gaining many subscribers despite begining quite late.
"I don't play gigs of ram, I play video games." I quite like that quote. I'm tired of people always comparing specs. People care too much about quantity. It's all about more more more now.
How it proves it is like this: 1. You like creating controversy 2. People who like creating controversy on the internet are trolls. 3. You, by that logic, are a troll. Solid logic, on solid foundations.
Thanks, I really hope it is something special/useable. It should be freakishly expensive BUT incredibly powerful. Kinda like the cat mask from Wind Waker, it took a long time to get it but in the end it upgraded your combat ability.
It's still being made, they're just not ready to show more. I don't know why they even announced it back in January if we weren't going to see anything new 10 months later...
Based on where Majora's Mask was located in the shop (in plain view and with a full 3D model) and how similar Ravio is to the Happy Mask Salesman, I'm not sure that was just an Easter egg...
Most people don't complain about Nintendo's quality. In fact, it's one of the many aspects they are renowned for. The ones that mostly do complain are merely trolls who barely have any lives with too much spare time in their hands and are a tiny minority.
The major thing I noticed that seemed to really hurt the Wii U's sales was basically the name. When I got my Wii U most of the people I told about it would say things like "Isn't that the new expensive Wii controller with a screen on it?" A lot of people thought it was some new add-on for the Wii rather than a new console.
That's what I was referring to. We saw the Yoshi's Island game at E3 so it's probably coming out soon but as for Yarn Yoshi...geez I hope it comes out next year because it looks really fun. I mean...don't I look adorable in yarn form???
Having Nintendo develop on their own console that they know inside and out can really help their own developers optimize their games. It's like the iOS operating system; it runs much smoother than most android devices with half as impressive specs. Apple knows their devices inside and out, and so does Nintendo. I won't be surprised to see some impressive looking titles coming to WiiU.
also let's not forget that this is somewhat the new nintendo power. I can see a comparison in how its presented!!! Don't worry about their ads. They'll get to it :)
I actually read somewhere that PS3 and 360 took nearly all of it's power to run games at 1080p while the WiiU can run them with ease at a steady 60fps.
I agree, people don't seem to understand that a next-gen console is suppose to be superior to it's previous console, which all 3 next-gen consoles achieve. This is the problem with the gaming community, everybody seems to think it's a competition between the 3 and you can only own one. I'm personally a sony and nintendo guy.
I'm not talking about Wii. I'm talking about Wii U. If you're wanting to discuss the next generation, you'd better get up to speed. I believe Wii U is actually faster than PS3 (but I haven't confirmed that). But if you remember, it took devs nearly 2 years to release games en masse for it. Why? It was so powerful it was hard to code for it. You may not like the question, but it's still valid. History has my back on this one.
Vaya cosas, aquí vimos el primer teaser de Super Mario 3D World... casi 10 años después lo sigo jugando en Switch y con un juego expansión añadido, hubiese sido interesante ver como funcionaria Bowser's Fury en Wii U.
You do realize that the Wii U can handle 1080p and 60fps right out of the box without breaking a sweat AND process and send a different input to the GamePad with zero latency, while it took years for the 360 and PS3 to achieve 720p at flippin' 30fps? Just based on this alone, I think it's safe to say Wii U is more powerful than 360 and PS3. Now
(one generation later) Iwata:We have a portable system that resembles a laptop, with a separate controller for when it gets too heavy for your legs. We call it: Nintendo Laps. That's my prediction, by the way.
If you played megaman you know it is great to choose where do you go in the order you want. And it was the original plan for the series. The original Zelda was like that.
22:24, how is it that no gaming news site is covering this? I know it's small, but it would be nice if people mentioned it in a sentence of an article.
Xenoblade,Skyward Sword, Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Okami, Pikmin 1 & 2, Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario, Super Mario Bros Wii, so yeah. There is a lot you should play.
XBOX ONE has no backwards compatibility whatsoever, but PS4 is backwards compatible with PS1, 2, and 3 games. The GBA is my favorite handheld ever though.
Sooo, you're saying that since the wii had the same resolution as the ps2, the Wii U does too? Don't comment unless you know what you're talking about. Many of the new wii u games coming out run in 1080p at 60fps.

I'm glad to see what seem to me like new novel ideas in major intellectual properties, and I probably wouldn't be aware of these ideas if not for Nintendo Direct.
Every time we get a nintendo direct i fall in love with nintendo again. New creations as well as catering to traditions.
The action in that 3DS Kirby game looks really kinetic and satisfying. Great sound, animation and effects work. Give that studio more money!
i love how in the US it came out on my birthday but in the UK (where i'm from hey) it came out on 29th november a week later. just saying.
0:05 Iwata headbutting the screen title like a boss.
Great stuff! Although, I'm still waiting for Nintendo to come out with an achievement system on both consoles.

Guy from 2024 here. This game is awesome.
I just love it how there are always fights like this on Nintendo videos
Wow, looks like many great games are coming out this year! I just love the way Nintendo never runs out of ideas! :)
Akzomp no
I appreciate UA-cam spoiling the fact that a Nintendo Direct will be happening sometime soon!!! Thank you UA-cam algorithm!!! Waiting for a Nintendo Direct to happen during the week of 1/12/20 - 1/18/20.

( *Laughs in March 2020* )
Yeah we all were hoping for that... ;(
Your about 2 months too early.
Ace Attorney Dual Destinies is amazing!
Probably December. The mainstream Directs tend to be aired every other month. May was an exception because that was a pre-E3 Direct.
I understand the whole meaning behind the Wii U's name (Wii meant family play, and the U means the GamePad person is seeing something different and it's more personalized), but if they really wanted to keep the Wii brand name, they should've just called it Wii 2.
1:03 If you listen closely, you can hear the Nintendo Switch click
esz Nintendo teased switch 4 years early
"We've got to have; moneyyyyyy"
Nintendo, please give us Wii Music U (No sarcasm, I really enjoyed the game)
Mariothehedgehog boi
who are you and who did this to you
Pikmin 3 (Wii U): 1080p @ 60fps
Ryse (Xbox One): 900p @ 30fps
Your point is?
But the Pikmin 3 doesn't have tons of particle effects or lots of stuff that you would see on Xbox One games.
Also. Wii U does run 720p. And 1080i as well. You can set it to run a number of ways. Still looks great.
RIP iwata
2018 anyone?
2019 anyone
2020 anyone?
2021 anyone?
2022 anyone?
2023 anyone?
ah the drought... sad years for nintendo fans as myself
don't listen to the haters rambling about nintendo, I'm 22 going 23 and still play their games, it's the best way to get in touch with my childhood. When my buddies and I were little we train our pokemon and battle it out every chance we get on our gameboy color and gameboy advance, damn I miss those days
That Super Mario Game for Wii U shows exactly why Nintendo is the king of platformers. Holy hell, I am so friggin excited.
nintendo fans are nutting their pants over having 7 or 8 good games next year. lol that isnt even a game per month.
and that is also assuming you want every single game they are putting out. you wii u owners have no choices. unless of course you play other systems. in which case this video is 100% right and you have no justification to thumb it down. live with it
Quality over quantity, any day.
Luckily they realized we don't want long software droughts, now with the switch we have real variety and a good steady constant stream of games.
Nintendo has a great and dedicated fan base (not all, but alot of people). Nintendo Direct is a great way to inform us fans about Nintendo's new projects and releases. I think Iwata's English is getting better with each Nintendo Direct.
Yeah, I like Super Wii! That is essentially what the Wii U is: at heart it is very much a Wii but with so much more (the GamePad, Miiverse, HD, etc).
Making A Link Between Worlds more open world is a pretty clever idea. I look forward to it!
Dayum, Iwata got good at his engrish since the last ND...
Fedora chair? Now I can feel euphoric and comfy at the same time!
Oh wow, Super Mario 3D World looks amazing. Much better than the way it was depicted in the original reveal trailer.
I honestly can't wait to play it.
Wow, this is the most effort being put into a Mario game since Galaxy, good work Nintendo!
Next gen isn't all about power. It's about fun and innovative gameplay which Nintendo excels at.
now all they need is some new Star Fox and F-Zero titles and we'd be golden.
*sniff* I'll never miss you two...
I tend to look at stuff I will be able to play in near future. I am looking at any games that are not releasing in 2013.
The last story, Pandora's tower, Kirby return to dreamland, mario kart wii, super smash bros, DKCR, and backwards compatibility with gamecube games.
It's like no one can admit that a game on another console can look beautiful too. XD
3D world might have just pushed me over the edge on getting a WiiU. Looks like so much fun!!!
about the update, did a world clock that displays briefly when you open miiverse really have higher priority than miiverse on 3DS?
The art style is the most important thing, if you are going to compare it to realistic fps, than it is all based on taste.
The major thing I noticed that seemed to really hurt the Wii U's sales was basically the name. When I got my Wii U most of the people I told about it would say things like "Isn't that the new expensive Wii controller with a screen on it?" ¿Quien es Hiroshi yamaushi?, yo en lo personal no sabia que forma parte de nintendo.
I couldn't manage to the controls having to juggle between Gamepad for the Map and related functions and Wii Motion+ and Nunchuk for main gameplay.
You're completely right. I love Mario, Metroid, Pokemon and most of all Zelda, but I also love Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, and Infamous.
That's what I was referring to. We saw the Yoshi's Island game at E3 so it's probably coming out soon but as for Yarn Yoshi...geez I hope it comes out next year because it looks really fun. I mean...don't I look adorable in yarn form???

am i the only one who actually both plays both nintendo and sony stuff? i think both are very good
The last one was released on the Game Boy Advance, but only in Japan.
They should allow you to navigate to specific segments in this series
also, as long as you have an outlet, the console, and the game pad, you can play Wii U anywhere. I would like to see PS's do that.
they showed a lot of new stuff from SM3DW, now it looks worth the money, it looks great
The music in the Super Mario 3D world trailer is awesome.
also let's not forget that this is somewhat the new nintendo power. I can see a comparison in how its presented!!!
Don't worry about their ads. They'll get to it :)
Turn on Automatic Captions for a hilarious addition to the video.
The number one thing I look forward to from Nintendo Direct, is to see who will be in Smash 4.
Smash Bros Wii U / 3ds is now complete for me now that Sonic was announced. Thank you Nintendo/Sega :D
I actually read somewhere that PS3 and 360 took nearly all of it's power to run games at 1080p while the WiiU can run them with ease at a steady 60fps.

Do not copyright any Just Dance Games.
Any updates on Flipnote Sutdio 3D?
It's been like two months since it was changed to "TBD."
I'm not talking about Wii. I'm talking about Wii U. If you're wanting to discuss the next generation, you'd better get up to speed.

The library of 3DS games is getting so rich, I'll definetly get one when Link Between World releases.
But do you ever see the rating "C" in the games mentioned in the video?
I guess you're right, but they're still very different games even though they're both side scrollers.
Vaya cosas, aquí vimos el primer teaser de Super Mario 3D World... casi 10 años después lo sigo jugando en Switch y con un juego expansión añadido, hubiese sido interesante ver como funcionaria Bowser's Fury en Wii U.
Nintendo and Sony has been gold together since the 5th generation!I agree with everything you said!
I KNOW RIGHT! At least it is still coming out in winter.
Now

Iwata:We have a portable system that resembles a laptop, with a separate controller for when it gets too heavy for your legs. We call it: Nintendo Laps.
That's my prediction, by the way.

Oh. Now things are starting to make sense.
I thought there was a Metroid on the N64 too.
XBOX ONE has no backwards compatibility whatsoever, but PS4 is backwards compatible with PS1, 2, and 3 games.
The GBA is my favorite handheld ever though.
It's supposed to come out around next year, so maybe spring?
I agreed. I got both 3DS and Wii U. I'm still have Wii and playing Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3.
Sooo, you're saying that since the wii had the same resolution as the ps2, the Wii U does too? Don't comment unless you know what you're talking about. Many of the new wii u games coming out run in 1080p at 60fps.
It says at 22:19 that there is supposed to be Nintendo Zone Content for MK7 in October and November. October has passed and there was nothing announced on the Nintendo Zone page is it supposed to be released in November instead?
Next time in future Nintendo Direct they need to add developpers commentary for the game they're showing ... It would be funny to hear Mr Miyamoto or Sakurai commenting their own games ^^
Those Wii remotes of Mario & Luigi look BAD-ASS
finally! one where peach isn't the one kidnapped. never thought i would see the day
I'm getting a 3DS soon, and I probably should get a Wii U as well after seeing all these games.
I wish Nintendo did directs like this for the Nintendo Switch...
I thought the Wii U didn't sell as well because of the poor marketing (or lack of it) Nintendo had. I didn't think it was as "intense" as the original Wii back in 2006.
Agreed. Even the 3DS is suffering from this mentality. There are some developers who would rather support the Vita than the 3DS even though the 3DS has almost 7x the install base and is dominating sales charts.
Looks like we are going back to super mario 2 with this character selection
So which good ideas do you have?
I am glad that they delayed it. I don't think it is for that reason. Whenever retro delays something, it turns out to be more amazing then it would if they hadn't.
Part2/2
C) WiiU - PS4/XboxOne aren't super far away from each other like the Wii/PS3. They both have the same feature sets they can use, exept one is a Power PC GPGPU machine and the others are X86 GPGPU with slow cpu's and 8gbs of ram to offset performance barriers, like PC's use.
WiiU is a machine that does more with less.

You should. It's a fantastic handheld electronic portable gaming device!
