Rest in peace, Iwata.
R.I.P ;(
God bless him
@@theconductoresplin8092 he died??
@@justyouraverage3699
Yeah he passed away in 2015 or 2016
We had a huge hole in Nintendo directs during that catastrophe
@@justyouraverage3699 🤦♂️
RIP Iwata. You will be missed. :(
When did he die?
Super Mario Abandoned Channel July 2015 :(
F
I don't know why, but I really like how Iwata speaks english.
He is sound like a kid
Hey! I'm a kid! (Get it? GET IT?! GETITGETITGETITGETITGETIT)
Yeah me too , because unlike the whole others , he really hard try to speak English despite the heavy accent they have naturally to speak English well . He is so clean polite and respectful and friendly . I really admire him as a Global CEO
Alireza saemi are you a squid or a kid
Bears 4Lyfe Are you talkin about me? Then, SQUID KID!! HA HA!!
This was definitely one of Nintendo's best E3 showings
Super Mario 3D World
Mario Kart 8
Zelda: Wind Waker HD
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Bayonetta 2
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U (ending with Mega Man's big reveal)
This is what made me run out the door and buy a Wii U. This year's E3 probably made a lot of people feel like selling their Wii U.
RetroGamerAaron The unbelievable thing is Wii U has more games than the 3DS Source: Wikipedia
RetroGamerAaron these were the games that sold wiiu's
RetroGamerAaron The best of them IMO was smash bros :P
I thought it was bland and uninspired; they showed everything we expected, as well as some things we didn’t want (re: Donkey Kong)
The best now will hopefully be 2018
This E3 direct was so underrated only for being the first E3 digital presentation from Nintendo and for be Wii U announcements. The games presented were so incredible. Most of the nowadays directs do not have these quantity of announcements on the same event. Imagine have A new Pokemon game, New Mario 3D, Mario Kart 9, Bayonetta 3, new DK game, Xenoblade 3, Zelda HD for Switch… all on the same event! That would be the event if the year
That would be awesome
Pokemon Gen 5 remakes. Xenoblade X for the Switch. Super Donkey Kong Country, well you got those games already
All during the year of Luigi too
Im really gonna miss seeing Iwata in our new nintendo directs...
I know! There's no more "Directly"
Michael Harper Check out the direct from 11/12/15. Reggie said the “Directly” but not the hand motion while saying it
Yes!!!
@@liamcarmody4217 yep ....
@@MichaelHarperMike Well actually IT IS but Not that much....
God, can you imagine the crowd reaction to Smash if this was a live conference? They missed out on an incredible chance.
My exact thought.
Yet we ended up getting a lot of UA-cam reactions over Smash Bros. which were very amusing but my reaction toward the game's announcement were of the same level.
Gabriel Gil Same here.
And imagine how it would have been when they revealed Megaman in Smash .... wow
4 years later
Everyone called Nintendo stupid for switching primarily to digital presentations for E3. 7 years later, we're pretty much begging for Nintendo to finally do another one after every one else started doing them.
So THAT’S why there are so many dislikes
Even after all these years, Iwata still makes me smile.
when Wii U had so much promises.
It had, but IT also delivered....slowly.....
Nintendo should've reserved Switch for the 9th gen, releasing it right after Scarlett or PS5 to overshadow the wannabe gaming PCs. Now they're stuck with an 8.5th-gen console that can't possibly run any relevant 9th-gen game from a third party.
Doruk Ayhan
Exactly! They should have just waited to have hardware that can run ninth gen titles, and not rely on indies and first parties.
Doruk Ayhan the switch isn’t a direct competitor to the other consoles. Besides, Nintendo was struggling to pay their employees and needed to release a console to get money
I still use my Wii U and i have it since 2013, i still think that many things were never realized but what i have i enjoy a lot... what i don't enjoy though is that most of the good games on Switch are games that i already have on my Wii U or on other systems so in the end i'm left playing most of my old stuff and you know what? I love it, i think that every system should've an oportunity during the month, i don't get people focusing only on Switch.
Anyways, shoutouts to Nintendo Land.
Wow
Here we are 10 years later.
First of all rest in peace satoru iwata you will always be a legend and won't ever be forgotten.
I will never forget this direct where they showed mario kart 8, super mario 3d world and super smash bros for 3ds/wii u for the first time.
The hype was going crazy back then.
I actually really miss those times.
Yup crazy how the Wii u didn't sell well but the community for it was loud & strong at the time. I remember going to the midnight release when I was a freshman in college. That GameStop was packed and they had like 5 employees with like 3 different checkouts and a tournament going on for prizes like controllers, game for free, Wii u console, etc ... The hype was so surreal then online & in person. Even recently the midnight release for Zelda TOTK had a good amount of people but the vibes weren't there. Not to mention it was just 1 employee handling like I'd say a good 70+ customers. I miss those days back then. Nintendo will always miss Iwata & always loved that he was an item in smash for Wii u.
Iwata, you were a great man and greatly made an impact in Nintendo's history. All of Nintendo and us fans will miss you.
we still miss him
@@AxeIRad yes!!!
Yeah he was really fun
This was such a strong E3 for Nintendo:
- Pokemon XY.
- Super Mario 3D Land.
-Mario Kart 8.
-Donkey Kong.
-Smash Bros Wii U/3DS.
And more...
You mean Super Mario 3D World, Right?
@@nikanmahdevari6206 Not so strong of an E3 when you can easily mistake a highlight with one of its predecessors, amirite? 😂
@@chucke.cheese2212 yeah so many so confused lmfao
Just watched this again for the memories. This was the best Nintendo Direct of the Wii U era.
agreed
I agree
I was 11 years old when I watched this E3 and know I feel old from watching it in 2018.
I was 9
God Christmas was a time and a half for us kids
I was 4 and now I'm 10
Not really.....
Well, you're still a kid...
10 years later I still consider this the best Nintendo direct of all time!
This was one of the best e3 moments for Nintendo and its sad because this was one of iwata last appearance for e3 before he passed away he was such an amazing president for the best video game company of all time
2013 and 2014 were my all time favorite Nintendo e3’s
Literally same
2004-2005 and 2010 were my favorite, DS and 3ds announcements
1997 and 1998 were the best…
RIP Satoru Iwata 1959-2015. he was an absolute legend at nintendo and shaped it to what it is today (in 2021). May he rest in peace
Looking back now at all these old E3's, Wii U really wasn't that bad at all. I never bought one, but I did get a Switch on day one and I'm so happy to see a lot of these old titles ported over!
I think we can all agree 2013 was a great year for gaming, and not just for Nintendo.
SkywardPrimeGalaxy Nintendo had a better 2014
Then why were there so many dislikes?
@@ajburrr Because some people are just rude and selfish
07:43 - we were introduced to a new Mario Kart game.
More than seven full years later, and we still don't even have the _annnouncement_ of the development, of the next mainstream entry in the Mario Kart series. I am not counting Mario Kart Tour as the 9th main entry.
Wow over 2 years ago. Time really does fly
Yeah. Am I the only one watching this after nintendos fail presentation?
Bat Omar nope... I'm here
Bat Omar Nope. You got me.
Bat Omar Same :/
Wow. This comment was made over 2 years ago. Time really does fly.
R.I.P. Mr. Iwata :( Thank you for everything you've done.
Man, seeing Iwata like this is bittersweet. I honestly miss him.
The moment I heard iwatas voice again I started crying.
Same here
I was not a Nintendo fan untill after he was gone but i can see why iwatta was so beloved
It's the next E3 Nintendo Direct tomorrow. This will be a year old in two days. THAT'S FREAKING INSANE.
Galaxia Hokage Five years old now.
Iwata was a fantastic individual. He didn’t deserve to die
Still my favorite E3 from nintendo
R.I.P. Mr. Iwata, you will be greatly missed by all gamers.
you cant beat this direct. ever. this is the direct i always remember.
I know I’m late, but I thought E3 2019 was pretty fantastic.
This E3 stream convinced me to buy a Wii U on September 20th(Wind Waker bundle) when it got a price cut. I started saving the day after this streamed, I was expecting to have it by October, and then the Wii U got a price cut and I bought the WWHD bundle the day it was released. Before this E3 i was planning on a PS4. Am I dissapointed in myself for buying a Wii U before a PS4? HELLS NO! I am now a proud Wii U owner. Buying a PS4 in 2015 when I own all the 2014 WiiU games and the damn PS4 is worth it.
Yes. Yes it is.
Historian's Note: This is the first Nintendo Direct where Nintendo deigned not to involve themselves with the circus that was the main stage at E3. Fast forward a decade, and E3 is looking to have finally shuttered as a trade show after years of gross incompetences, indifferent management, and directionless ideas.
Nintendo's game is being ahead of the game.
May your soul Rest In Peace Mr. Iwata. Such dedication and joy brought to millions. Thanks for all the fun.
36:42 That moment the Internet Exploded.
2013: Back when Nintendo really showed their A game.
True
I actually though their 2014 digital event was better than this and the 2015 one.
***** The 2015 one was DECENT. There was a lot of good announcements, in my opinion. We have Starfox 0, The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes, Metroid Prime: Federation Force, new amiibos, FireEmblem Fates, Mario and Luigi Paper Jam, Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Yoshi's Woolly World, etc. I think it was a pretty good direct.
Mario Luigi The Great But most of them were games we already heard about. Mario tennis is another rehash, the new animal Crossing is just a Mario Party ripoff, and the new Metroid game isn't Metroid and looks like a cheap made shooter. The only things that were truly close to be an excitement were Paper Jam and Star Fox. That's it though. It's mostly Amiibos and Mario titles announcements. Compare to last year, it's disappointing. There isn't enough big exciting titles. Not to mention how weak the Wii U lineup is in 2015. Having a Mario sports game and a Mario Party ripoff aren't huge *new* Wii U announcements.
***** The only huge Wii U announcement was Starfox 0, and I think Yoshi's Woolly World.
I went back to watch this just for a trip down memory lane...Good Days😁
it seems to me that Nintendo is the only company that has kept it reasonably classy from the beginning. keep it fun. games weren't supposed to be serious and gory.
Ikr?
Everyone just wants to play mortal kombat and games with absolutely no fun like that
RIP Iwata No one will forget you!
Whoops I forget him
This is still the best Nintendo e3 presentation.
I don’t know. E3 2019 was pretty fantastic. However, I guess you’re right because this presentation has The Wonderful 101.
With smash ultimate's final fighter revealed as Sora, man what a journey. I'm sad that Iwata couldn't see how far this series pushed boundaries. Iwata's last request to Sakurai was to make the best smash bros and its safe to say, Sakurai made good on that request.
RIP IWATA SAN Thank you thanks you thank you are you for EVERYTHING youve given us I swear I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU IWATA SAMA.
Ill....I'll see you later.;v;
the date is April 8th, 2020. and I am so starved of nintendo news that I am watching past directs
If anyone is reading this in 2021, it's good to know humanity has actually survived this mess
We survived
Remember when Nintendo had awesome e3s?
yeah we just had one
Zelda was great, but that was about it tbh
Thunder64 yeah that got the best game of show award
Ya but to be fair they are working on the new console #NX
Ryan Bruce They didn't show it off tho, which I guess makes sense business wise. It still sucks that they didn't tho.

This was the SECOND time we've had a Smash Brothers and Mario Kart game release under the same year, on one console.
Amazing memories, for me the directs between 2012 and 2015 are the best of all, miss Iwata so much! 😢❤️

@@skylinegtr3454 Isn't that the alternative name of Nintendo Switch?

This was the best E3 in my opinion, 2014 a close one
The directs were better in this way when the hosts showed themselves more instead of just transitioning to one game after another immediately after one trailer ends, but that’s just me
Another edit: Just cried hearing Iwata’s sweet voice again
Seeing Iwata hurts me :c Nintendo in general was just more natural and fun back then.
They talked more about the games in the older directs. Directs these days feel like im having a stroke
This was an amazing e3, wish I could say that now...
I was straight in love when I saw DKCTF.
Still my favorite Wii U game :D
What about Switch
All these years later and we're still playing Mario Kart 8 (Deluxe)
And I'd guess Smash on the Switch could look like the cutscenes as well.
I'm still playing Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U! Heh.
They still haven't topped this nintendo direct it had literally everything

@@gastr0._ac1d6 yes we are, we don’t count the spin off game with the Mario or Luigi toy or microtransactions kart on mobile

IWata.... thank you for all you do
The best Nintendo E3 Ever in my opinion
Sombra Mistica 2004 says hello
34:40 The same thing happens with Isabelle
Its something to be said, that i just rewatched this E3 thinking "yeah, this is the best one i've ever watched" and somehow i still think that its even better than what i thought, besides some eshop, 3rd Party and Pokemon games, everything had me interested, even the booth showing and the announcement of available Demos at stores, even though i wasn't there in USA to experience that, there was an event were i live that hosted Mario 3D World, Wii Party U and DK Tropical Freeze, sadly i couldn't assist, i even had dreams about getting some of those games, and ofcourse i did.
But the craziest thing is, that after the Smash trailer, i thought that i was satisfied, but then comes MegaMan, booth showing, demos... but it wasn't over, because later that day they announced Wii Fit Trainer for Smash, and showed a bit more of Mario and the 3DS games, very exciting times because the news didn't stop there, and demos kept coming on Wii U and 3DS... so far still my favorite time as a gamer.
That Smash Bros. announcement tho.
I watched this while on college and i was blown away, from 3D Mario to Mario Kart... hype! And then the rest, Wind Waker HD video, DK Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2, Xenoblade X and SMASH?? Some of the best titles, even to this day.
Watching this in 2017 because the WiiU is my favorite Nintendo console:)
7 years later
Honestly, if it weren't for KH3 and FFXV, I would be 100 percent on getting the Wii U. Also, Nintendo better have a conference this year.
Oooooohhhhhh. Hahaha. I'll let you read today's announcement from Nintendo ;)

This was MUCH BETTER than the last Nintendo's E3 for Switch.
I hope at E314 will have a SSB4 booth for both 3ds and WiiU. this year.
The main thing I'm excited for in E3 2014 is the re-announcement of Beyond Good & Evil 2. Because I remember watching a video saying he's planning to re-announce the title at E3.
Better than the direct mini
