Being about the same vintage as Sandy, this brings back memories from my teenage camping years. We had none of the modern gear, but it looks far better in every way now. Maybe I should splash out and try going back to my youth again.
The Hover X1 is a great bit of kit Si, very powerful tool for the solo video maker. I still love old style camping, I'm in the process of putting together an all canvas camp setup with old school gear for some camps:)
Cracking video Sandy nothing better than chilling out in the woods and listening to the owls talking to each other looked like a great woodland to spend time in atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Hi from NZ, Robert here I hope you don’t mind me asking are you related to Arthur and Marjorie Pearce their children my friends through until my mid 20’s David and John. They were a lovely family and I spent a lot of time in their company growing up starting life in Alms Row by Shrivenham church. David went into automotive body repair and I became a motor mechanic, John became a printer. Kind regards....Rob
Right, these multi-fuel stoves are fantastic and they run on anything. I recommend what I think is the best fuel by far: Aspen 4. It's an agricultural fuel, an ultra clean refined petrol, it's stable, does not stink, it's clean and runs clean, it's better for your stove bay far than any other liquid fuel I've tried. Agricultural shops usually stock it, about £20 odd for five litres and unlike normal petrol it keeps.
Hi Sandy. Could you consider setting the CC button so that those of us who are not native English speakers can at least read while listening. This would greatly help us to a better understanding. Thank you very much.
I have just enabled CC, UA-cam won't allow me to select CC for a while for some reason, I guess it has to process the video. Seems to take a few hours before CC becomes available
Well, Sandy, after nearly 80 years in the countryside, I didn't know that male and female Tawny owls make different calls. Not totally convinced !! Never too old to learn some thing new. Another good video.
Nice little spot in the woods that, Sandy. I often go camping with Buddy in some woodland by a canal, never have a fire, but sometimes a light hanging up, low setting, 20 metres or so away can't see it and never been bothered. As long as we respect the area and leave no trace, we can always go back, as I'm sure you could too with this spot 🙂 Nice night-lapse there, I'm still figuring out the settings on my GoPro, mine are terribly short.. Thanks for sharing Take care All the best D & B 👍
Really nice place, but unfortunately there was no "beert" for dessert 😁. You know when you slept good when the other one says he was woken up by crows singing and you didn't hear them!! I like the square lamp personally too. Stay safe ad healthy!
Thats a nice little spot. I need to work on my camp spot for next season. Laws keep changing here making it harder to find a spot that is not over crowded and still close to the water.
I hope you can find somewhere Jim. In the UK mostly Wild camping is forbidden but can be tolerated. We didn't have permission to camp here either but Ralph has used it for a long time without any trouble
Fabulous video, Sandy. I hope you're warm enough in that Bivy? In this cold 🥶 weather watch, you don't get yourself a chill. How is your rib now? ⛺️ 🔥 🌳🍁 🍃 🍂 🍁 🍃 we enjoy your cooking 🍳 as it always makes us feel hungry 😂😂
My ribs are perfectly healed now Angela, no pain at all. As for the cooking, I have to try and get a bit better at it, I think I'll try and carry my Dutch oven into Camp on the next one:)
That new camera’s cool!! Can’t understand why anyone would want to sleep in a bivi … surely little back woods bungalow tent would be much nicer … nice video tho chum !
Very nice outing again Sandy👍🏻 I really enjoy your collection of kit and where and how you use it...very proud that I use the same Feuerhand lantern, and it is the same green colour!👌🏻 Maybe you can also consider the ATG Stretcher, instead of a mattress...I use one on my biking trips and do not suffer from nightly punctures anymore and they fit perfectly in a 2 man tent. Kind regards Sandy, cannot wait for the next one🍻
@@whitetongueoutdoors No worries, I've never really had a problem with them falling down, But I must admit when on camp I only put them on when I won't be moving around too much
I’ve had 2 exped mats delaminate on me, such a shame as they were very comfortable mats. Had to throw them away! Hope you find something just as comfy that lasts !!
Yeah.. air mats. If punctures don't get them delamination will. I had my thermarest delaminate on me, had to send it back to Thermarest in Ireland who promptly sent me a brand new replacement.
Nice little camp out Sandy, lovely old woodland. Hooped bivvy nights are excellent, I've now got a few double hooped goretex bivvy bags, two green and one DPM, and they give a superb cozy warm night even when the temperature drops below O, been after the SAS one for a while but there hard to get hold of at a reasonable price. The multi fuel cooker you have is designed for extreme cold weather expeditions, they work faultlessly but are bloody noisy so not very stealthy. An enjoyable video mate and all the best to you.
That was a great camp, Sandy. I enjoyed it very much. Ralph is a really cool guy. I've never seen one of those candle holders . That is really nice. Seeing as how I am one of those stoveaholics, if that stove is still available , I'm going to have to have one. Just like that svea123r. I REALLY want one of those. They are super cool. Dwayne
Good camp as usual Sandy. I have one of those stoves but the control valve handle looks a bit more robust on your one. Mine has a small wire shaped handle. That looked like a nice big steak. Thanks for the film.
Very simple but amazing camp Sandy. You definitely brought just enough equipment but not too much for a camping trip out in that beautiful woodland. That Optimus multi fuel stove is a real gem, I don't think anyone produces those types of stoves anymore. I may be wrong though because there are plenty of companies in countries such as China, India, Taiwan that make all kinds of cheaper and less quality copies of things. Very enjoyable video, thank you for another great time for all of us. See you on the next one.
Cheers Terry, I think Optimus still make a stove very similar to the Nova, it is a very well made stove but quite bulky and a bit noisy but I like the sound it makes:)
I bought a Vango Banshee 200 earlier this year and had 2 nights of sheer terror in it, I never knew i got claustrophobia until then. Seeing those bivi's brought back the memories 😅 I could never survive a bivi camp.😅
Very nice. I’ve used a bivi bag on climbing trips when I was much younger, totally missed out on the hooped bivi-went right to expedition-style floored two person tents. Ended up with a Hilleberg Soulo. Now I’m interested in hooped bivi stents again. Still wearing the Nortiv8 boots, though; so far so good. I do love the Stonebridge candle lantern, mine has lasted very well. I do have the reflector for my Feuerhand lanterns but it just reflects straight down. That’s a whopper of a steak! I think my only critique of the Feuerhand lanterns is that they leak. In 65 years of car and trailer camping I have never had a Coleman stove or mantle lantern ever leak.
I've just brought two reflectors for my hurricane lamps Gary, will be interesting to see how well they work. As for Coleman lamps I've heard they are good but I have had two Coleman single burner stoves that both started to leak so not as keen on them now

When the sun goes down, Sandy comes out.❤
I've watched so many other UA-cam camping videos and they don't often show much of the night and yet it's the night that we go out for
Great video mate enjoyed it very much good food and good company🍺🍺🍺👍🚴

Thank you for sharing your adventure! Thank you for taking me along. Cheers!
Looked like another great trip with good company.
I enjoyed this camp Lonnie, it's good to have company. Ralph is a good chap
Just lovely Sandy. You certainly have a way of making a compelling video me ol' fruit. Very watchable and very interesting.
Great. Cuppa tea and a WM upload 👍🏼
Thanks Sandy, I do like the hooped bivvi. At 25:00 I think Ralph wins the world hokey-kokey championship though. Thanks for posting.
Lovely. Bacon and eggs in the morning and firebox at night. Solstice soon and then lighter nights are on their way
Yes Steve, soon will be the longest night. I am going to have to improve my cooking skills, getting fedup with steak and couscous
Nice camp. 🏕
Being about the same vintage as Sandy, this brings back memories from my teenage camping years. We had none of the modern gear, but it looks far better in every way now. Maybe I should splash out and try going back to my youth again.
Spot on. the older gear might be heavier and take up more pack space, but in terms of performance etc, you can't beat it for comfort and cosiness
Mmmm, lovely looking food. Camp looked great too 👍👌
Thanks Victor:)
Lovely video, fantastic stove. Two men just enjoying nature and each others company.
Nice video excellent the way you captured and edited the content Thanks for sharing Sandy.
Thanks, I think it's the simple things and getting close to nature that make it:)

Thankyou sandy that looked so cosy, i must admit though i do prefer a small tent.
You are definitely warmer in a smaller tent
Maybe when all the seams go on the mattress it will be comfy again. Great camp Sandy.
