Happy New year everyone I hope you are all well and that you had a Good Christmas. For me New year started with a sick wife, a sick dog, toothache and the car has broken down. Thankfully the wife is a lot better, the dog has recovered but I'll need a new car and the tooth has got to go. Ouch New Years Resolutions, I don't make them, I just do me and that's hard enough :) I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for supporting my channel over the last year, by simply watching the videos, leaving a thumbs up and Subscribing. The channel has grown with over 3000 new subscribers in the last month alone! THANK YOU! This has caused me a dilemma. I like to respond to each and every comment but this is no longer possible, it just takes me too much time now, there are hundreds of comments coming in but I'll try my best to answer as many as possible. I do however read all the comments and they bring me a lot of joy:) Going forward I hope to bring you more camping content, motorcycling and other things that I get up to (mostly outdoors) as and when I have a creative flare. Generally I try to upload a new video each week and sometimes more but I do occasionally get burned out and you may not hear from me for a few weeks, I am after all just Human! But in the words of Arnie the Terminator "I'll be back", upto now thats always been the case and I've been posting videos on this UA-cam channel since 2009! I really enjoyed this video and it made me want to camp out in my garden on this cold night. If I didn’t have to go to work tomorrow I’d be in my bivvy bag with no tent. I’m not surprised your channel is growing, I’ve been a subscriber for years! Thanks

Excellent Sandy good things are on the mend with you . and a Guid New Year tae ye I have not been on much old age telling now so cold up here as well Minus 6 tonight
🎉🪅Happy New Year, Sandy, 🎊🎈well done, you are braving it out in this weather. 🥶 ☃️ 🧊 we've just had a new boiler fitted, Brrrrrrr 🥶 not had any heating for a week. Hope you have your thermals on. 😂❤❤
I found the same with the clodbase mat.. did a wild camp in spring with it in savanak forest and froze using it, didnt sleep a wink, ended up selling it excellent video as ever sandy. The colours of dusk and the sunrise were beautiful.
Bleedin''eck, you're lugging some gear there, was my 1st thought! Still, looked an enjoyable, cozy and warm camp out. I like the look of those hurricane lamp shades (gives the lamp a "Japanese look", I think), might get one for mine, did read in your description that they're not cheap though.. Nice night lapse too. Take care All the best D & B 👍
Yes a bit of gear on this camp but it was mostly bulk and not weight. The army sleep system is bulky. Also carrying several camera and tripods plus drone.
A great video to start off 2024 bro. Our almost year long of wet weather stopped on new years eve and been nice since although not enjoying these 28c days though. Safe travels. Ken.
Happy New Year Sandy sorry to hear about your problems, glad your wife and the mutt are better - btw wheelbarrow? Ingenious ! Don’t know why, it had ‘the walking dead’ vibe, which made me chuckle 👍😂 Great vid as always 🎉
Nice one Sandy. Had a laugh when you took the top off a beer and while it was boiling over, you let out a 'crickey',!. You can't get more Aussie than that mate. Happy new year to you and family (and dogs) and not surprised your subs are lifting. Keep well and cheers.
Wiltshire man goes to the limit, there is no room for error when the outside temperature has a windchill of -8 deg. Makes excellent viewing for us lazy armchair spectators though. 5 stars!!
Thanks Oscar, UA-cam is hard work sometimes, to grow the channel I really need to put out 2 or 3 videos a week and thats something I personally can't maintain, so I doubt I'll ever become a pro at it. If I do then by the time I have enough income coming in I'll be at retirement age so mostly I do it just for the enjoyment. Videos going up as and when I can manage them:)
Great video Sandy, if im half as active as you at your age, I'll be a very happy man. Can't wait to get out on my first hot tent adventure soon. Keep them coming. 😊
Hello Sandy, Good to see you in 2024. Tent camping is one of the wonderful experiences in life. Here is a suggestion for an entertaining read. "The 100- year old man who climbed out the window and disappeared" Its a lighthearted, enjoyable read.
Thanks Sandy, I’ve been a bit down the last couple of days and you have really cheered me up. Just sorting out my stuff for my first camp of the year. ❤
That stove sounds every bit as loud as the Svea 123 and 123R. If it works as well as the Svea that would be great. Hope you had a good Christmas and New Year. Thanks for the new video.
well done Sandy, again a beautiful video doing your camping skills.....know that i like that video s very much......but still missing your old camping dog......a great miss..... it is a bit of "slow and silent television" that makes it so nice to see....i enjoy every minute of it!! thanks a lot!! Wim ;-)
Thanks Wim, Yes I still miss my dear little Elsa. I have two new dogs now, but they are a bit too crazy, I can't take them to these woodlands this time of year because of the shooting season
Nice to see someone else using proper eating utensils, and not a spork and bushcraft knife. I got caught up in that habit. Then I realized (realised), the weight was negligible, and they took up no more space.
Happy New Year Sandy, you certainly pick a chilly start to your 2024 camping adventures. It’s nice to have some dry weather after the last forever rain. Good to hear the family are over there illness and hopefully your tooth will be sorted without to much screaming. Enjoy all your adventures in 2024 and maybe we might get a couple of rides in. All the best Cheers.
Thanks Charles, all the best for the new year, lets hope it will be a good one, I'm back on the bike every day again because the car has broken down!!!
Good to see you back, Sandy! Happy New Year. I wasn't entirely sure about the wheel-barrow for transporting kit as those rear stands can be a bugger catching on undergrowth and your boots! I'd probably go for a short hand cart with good size wheels. Less back strain also. Very enjoyable video. Thank you!
That's allot of gear you've got there sandy, great set up, allot of years of expience went into that and that's what makes a cold night out in the woods a pleasure, all the best mate.
Love your woodsman’s wheelbarrow…who makes it and where to get one! Love your mix of motorcycles and bushcraft…two of the things I love to do…cheers from America
Sandy, that was a great start to 2024, thank you. I like to watch you eating the food you've prepared, good to see someone who enjoys their grub as much as I do. Thank you for the video.
Have a very Happy New Year Sandy! A great start for the new year by going out in the woods to do some hot tent camping. You always seem to have the ability to make the best out of your time and spend it well. We are all just fortunate that you will bring your camera equipment along with you and share it with us sometimes. Awesome video my friend, a great camp setup and and just the right equipment. Sorry to hear about the sick wife, sick dog, toothache, and the car problems but maybe you are just going to get the most negative things out of the way early so things will go along smoothly the rest of the way. Let's hope so.
Thanks Terry, There's always been some background pain going on ever since neuro surgery back in 1994 I get good days and bad ever since but just have to deal with it. I try to remain optimistic but then add in a bit of tooth ache and other things and, well I won't mention anything about it normally but you'll no doubt read it in my body language. Getting out and making a UA-cam video and spending time outdoors seems to be a real help for me and for many others too. See you on the next one Terry:) Sandy
Happy New Year mate! Getting things off to a good start. The storms have raged over here in New England too, I was outside today cutting up downed trees with Husqvarna chainsaw and my pack-ax. As soon as I saw you moving through the wood and all the downed timber, I thought ‘fresh firewood’ haha… Steak looked great, I have a stockpile of both Belles, and Old Bay in my pantry here, good stuff. Sorry about the wife getting a cold, etc., and the car is a major issue and expense- might I suggest a Toyota? Long lasting vehicles to be sure. Toothache- when I had one I put a cotton ball soaked with whisky on it and the pain subsided. Get that sorted, I know the pain. Congrats on all the subscribers, I have been a subscriber since the beginning. Cheers Sandy! N.
I've been having a stressful few days and your camping video popped up at just the right time! A great bit of asmr to unwind to! Fantastic camp sandy! Right up my street! Nice n long too.
Very good camp, lots of clever touches, you looked pretty cozy in that tent. I don't think you mentioned it but isn't it advisable to have a carbon monoxide meter? Also a cooking tip, leave the food in the pan when you switch off your cooking heat source. The heat in the pan continues to cook or keep the food cooking or warm. Certainly no replies required, be safe take care & best wishes for 2024.
A belated Happy New Year Sandy. Loved this video. I admire you lunking all that kit through the woods. I have a couple of Silky saws (Pocket boy & Gomboy) and wouldn't use anything else nowadays.
Ah, go for it Marty:) Stay warm as the forecast is for cold weather. Next week could get down to minus 11 in some places. When the North wind doth blow and we shall have snow:)
Excellent as usual Sandy Sorry not been much just poor circulation due to heart failure and old age old age... but I am hoping to fix up my bike for sort runs .. possible portable ??? cheers the noo Trig
Hope you soon feel better Trig, it won't be long and it will soon be Spring again:) It's not nice growing old with all the problems it brings, I have a few issue's now that are only going to get worse!
A lot of useful kit Sandy all of which has a unique and sepperate purpose. Great to see you enjoying yourself far from the madding crowd. Could smell taste and feel the mood of the forest, can't buy that experience off the shelf. Happy days. Harry
Thats right Harry, sometimes we just have to get out. I've got more problems with my car now, The Citroen C3. The diesel particulate filter has clogged again, I think I may get rid of the car soon and buy a petrol one, problem is I don't drive the car often enough to get things really hot
We are at minus 38 Celcius with the wind chill at the moment, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It's a cold snap unprecedented in years. You would need to stoke that little stove every half-hour for sure. Thanks for the video, Sandy.
Thanks, Thats real cold. I have been watching some Canadian hot tent campers, they seem to be able to take any dead wood and burn it OK even if its been laying on the ground and covered in snow. I guess the continental climate is drier generally than here in the UK. We have to deal with dampness because mostly the airmass comes from the Atlantic and dumps lots of rain here. Temps during Winter generally hover between minus 5C to plus 7C, so moisture accumulates!
Happy New Year to you Sandy. Really enjoyed the film. Lovely footage of the sunrise. I hope you get the tooth sorted. Look forward to more of your films during the coming year.
Great camp that one sandy I've got my stuff together but I can't transport it as bad legs and spine and the comfy bushcraft camps are what I like watching and want to do the ultralight suffering isn't for me I'm too old 😂was it a carp fishing trolly you used ? I'm wondering if I could get my pack and gear on one and try that so got tip might help get me out ATB david
Hi David, I'm not sure what the barrow is but I brought it from Go Outdoors last year. I find it quite useful but the legs do snag on long undergrowth sometimes
I've been doing it long enough Noel, I must be one of the longest going UA-camr campers on here:) Sofar fame and fortune have eluded me, but the first hand experience of it all hasn't and thats what really counts!
Lovely to see. The great outdoors fantastic but I’d of taken a bow saw nice and light too. There is no beating a sunrise in our English winter glory I don’t go fishing now like I used to but I must take my wife and 7 year old daughter out to experience it even just an early venture out in my van with a flask and some binoculars. Thank u so much for sharing your passions.
Hi Chris, The Dawn sunrise this time of year can be spectacular, well worth the effort to get up for and it's not even an early rise as sunrise was around 08:00 :)
Woohoo Sandy an hour long video Yesssss🙌 ,, an arduous task getting in and out Sandy 😮 but well worth it in the end 💪 I see you've added a snow skirt to the tent 👌 and that hultafors axe is very underated , they do pack a punch in the right hands 😉 very enjoyable video Sandy 👌 and I hope every thing gets back to normal 🥃 my regards to Mandy 👍
Cheers Martin Yes the Hultifors is my favourite, I have a Gransfors but they are very soft. The saw you gave me is still cutting well:) This year will probably be the same as any other, got a lot of things to sort out, there's going to be a few ups and downs I'm sure:)
Wow sandy this was ace mate and I love your new filming format must of took some effort that sowing it all together so a big thank you for that we loved it really enjoyed watching it and an added bonus was the length nearly an hour brilliant sandy ❤
Glad you enjoyed it, I doubt I shall do many videos this long in the future but thought as it was the first one of the new year I'd try and make it a bit special
Hope your all feeling better! Brilliantly filmed , superb quality filming too. The dedication you show to your videos and us the audience is amazing Sandy. Jeeeez we feel so relaxed ! Every new subscriber is so well deserved and here's to many many more . Love to see the cooking and wow it looked very appetising indeed. Following your last camp I even got my Opinel out of the cupboard but it looks a bit errrrrrrrr ? Next to my stunning Jacklore. Keep up the brilliant work and take great care. Very best wishes P & M

Congrats on all the subscribers, I have been a subscriber since the beginning.
Cheers Sandy!
N.
Thanks Nicholas and Happy New Year. Lets hope it will be a good one?? Lots of firewood in this woodland but I only take what I need
Nice to see you better and out n about again
I've been having a stressful few days and your camping video popped up at just the right time! A great bit of asmr to unwind to! Fantastic camp sandy! Right up my street! Nice n long too.
Hop[e things are better for you now Mick
Very good camp, lots of clever touches, you looked pretty cozy in that tent. I don't think you mentioned it but isn't it advisable to have a carbon monoxide meter? Also a cooking tip, leave the food in the pan when you switch off your cooking heat source. The heat in the pan continues to cook or keep the food cooking or warm.
Certainly no replies required, be safe take care & best wishes for 2024.
All the best for the new year Shaun
Wonderful! I must do it soon here in Oklahoma, after the polar vortex has subsided!
A belated Happy New Year Sandy. Loved this video. I admire you lunking all that kit through the woods. I have a couple of Silky saws (Pocket boy & Gomboy) and wouldn't use anything else nowadays.
Thanks and belated happy new year also
Loved it Sandy! Just the motivation I needed for a 'coffee camp' tomorrow☕🔥⛺KTF🙏
@@WiltshireMan sorry about that filter Sandy U think they are about £270 to replace. I find that if I get a car by on 1,500 a year I am breaking even.
We are at minus 38 Celcius with the wind chill at the moment, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It's a cold snap unprecedented in years. You would need to stoke that little stove every half-hour for sure.
Thanks for the video, Sandy.
Thanks,
Thats real cold.
Loved the video Sandy that looks amazing a perfect meal CHEERS Sandy to your good self 🍺🍺🚴
Thanks Stuart
I know where to go when the SHTF ! You know how to hunt, sleep, cook and most importantly, make cheese! Lol , love the video!
Another super camp Sandy. You're getting the hang of it now! Ha Ha!
Happy New Year and love to all.
See you sometime I hope.
Noel
I've been doing it long enough Noel, I must be one of the longest going UA-camr campers on here:) Sofar fame and fortune have eluded me, but the first hand experience of it all hasn't and thats what really counts!
Lovely to see. The great outdoors fantastic but I’d of taken a bow saw nice and light too. There is no beating a sunrise in our English winter glory I don’t go fishing now like I used to but I must take my wife and 7 year old daughter out to experience it even just an early venture out in my van with a flask and some binoculars. Thank u so much for sharing your passions.
Hi Chris,
The Dawn sunrise this time of year can be spectacular, well worth the effort to get up for and it's not even an early rise as sunrise was around 08:00 :)
Can't beat a bit of the Old Bay
Green craft is the channel Sandy refered to.
Oh! that was Neil who'se UA-cam channel is "Greencraft" a very good channel
The saw you gave me is still cutting well:)
This year will probably be the same as any other, got a lot of things to sort out, there's going to be a few ups and downs I'm sure:)
