from Gerry- Very good advice about the projects we do. Your hat is adorable. I also bought the kitchner stitch at MD S&W. God bless.
Can I wear cotton or jeans with wool? I bought a 100% wool shirt, a wool short and a wool bra. In I like how it feels on my skin. Almost I have the feeling I don’t sweat or smell when I have my wool shirt. But I don’t find good wool trousers. So I was asking myself if I could wear my wool clothes with my normal jeans without harm my frequency. Can anyone help me here? Thanks
Wear test it and see how you feel. I treat the information I learned and shared about frequencies as a guideline. ~Shiree
I have wanted to learn to spin for a number of years now but even after watching a ton of videos I’m still not sure what wheel to go for to learn on , I also want to spin mostly art yarn . Would the Joy 2 be a good beginner’s wheel and I think you are saying I would need to purchase a different flyer ? Would you mind advising me ?
The Ashford Joy 2 is a fantastic everyday, portable wheel. I purchased the Wooly Winder for it because I didn't want to have to stop to adust the flyer. If you want to do art yarn without limitations in amount of size and weight then get the Ashford Country Spinner. It's huge and holds 2 lbs. of yarn. Best wishes. ~Shiree
Thanks for walking us all the way through to the end. Do you have any advice for blending together the yarn from multiple small bobbins (like from an E-spinner) when moving to the niddy noddy?
If it's wool you can needle felt the ends together as you go. Another option is grafting the ends together ( I don't have a show on that yet). Also you can do a magic knot with the ends. Thanks for watching. ~Shiree
Ooo your orifice changed when you did the 4ply I’ve never seen that ring before now I need to look it up
Thanks for watching.
Wow, this is so interesting! Ive never seen mohair being spun. I love how you explained how to keep the softness, luster and fuzz. Thank you for sharing your pictures of Quebec! It is gorgeous up there.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching. ~Shiree
Shiree!… You’re an AMAZING “creative”👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Love the design… and love kitty too! ❤from NYC
Hey there! The hobby is keeping me outta trouble, lol. So fun, thanks for checking it out. ~Shiree
What happens to the short fibers that are left on the hackle?
Save them and when you have a good pile of licker bits (I use that term for any tool waste fiber comes off of), spin it. Make a thick, chunky, single, then ply it with thin yarn or thick thread. Now you can weave a rug. ~Shiree
Slub-tastic! 😃 -Tami
Indeed.
This is lovely. I’m not as big of a fan of crocheted blankets with too open holes. Brrr! That cold air comes right through. This blanket is perfect! Thanks for sharing! -Tami 🙂
Thanks for watching. ~Shiree
❤❤thank you I learn a lot! Now I must apply what I learn….😊
Good luck and have fun. ~Shiree
from Gerry- Since I am a quilter, too, I use my left over yarns to make big baskets. I love what you've done. Blessings

Excellent Job. Thanks for sharing your journey with me

Do you dye the fleece after carding it?
In this video I hadn't carded it yet. However you can dye it in any state it's in as long as it's clean. I've done it all ways; piles of wool, locks, carded (then had to re card it) and yarn. Thanks for watching. ~Shiree
Thank you for the video. You make everything so much easier!
You're welcome. I'm glad it was helpful. ~Shiree
This is my favourite of all your videos. I watch it time and time again. Eventually, some day, I will own one of these looms. Blessings to you and yours, from Canada.
Wow, thank you! When that day comes you will enjoy weaving so much. ~Shiree
Thank you for this video. You were incredibly helpful in my understanding as I got started. I tried some of your tips and was able to successfully spin two “handfuls of fluff”. It is really fun!
Hey that's wonderful, way to go. Thanks for watching. ~Shiree
Glad you are back. I have learned so much from your videos. Best wishes.
Thank you very much!
Love all your videos Shiree. I watch your Rigid Heddle Loom Tutorial video again and again. It's on my bucket list to own one of these looms, and learn to use it. Thank you for your informative and interesting video series. Blessings to you and yours from Canada, and wishing everyone a healthy, healing summer ahead. 🌹🌻☘
Thank you so much for watching and supporting the show. It means a lot to me. ~Shiree
LOVE the bag! I don’t blame you for having kept it! 😍-Tami
Some times ya just gotta keep it. lol. ~Shiree
I did notice your videos were few and far between. I’m glad to hear the family medical situation has leveled out. I cared for my quadriplegic husband for 35 years and while I don’t knit, having other creative outlets like weaving brings great joy. Keep on keeping on! 🙂🙏🏻-Tami
Thank you so much for watching. Many blessings to you. ~Shiree
Wow, you´ve done a very beautiful work <3 my english is not the best, but i learned just from watching this :)
Thank you. I'm glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching. ~Shiree
from Gerry- looks like it was a thriving industry and probably employed a lot of people. Thanks for sharing. God bless.
Thanks for checking it out! It was a really cool place. ~Shiree
Great video! Looking forward to your next adventure. 😊-Tami
Thanks for watching! ~Shiree
Quickest and most helpful tutorial I've seen on hand carding and how to prepare wool/yarn before spinning
Well great. I'm glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching and for your feedback. ~Shiree
❤💚💜💙🧡 Thanks for the tour.
You bet!
Hi. Thanks to your video, I am now ordering a Joy 2 with the jumbo bobbin. But what is the flyer+bobbin called that moves the yarn automatically? I've looked at the wooleewinderstore but cannot find anything. Greatings from Sweden 🇸🇪
Congratulations, you're going to love it. Look for Oak at wooleewinderstore.com, it's compatable with Ashford Joy 1 & 2. You're on your way to spinning that creates peace and joy. Thanks for watching. ~Shiree
WHOA!... A-MAY-ZING! 👀 And here I am struggling to sew-on a "hook-n-eye" to a jumper!... She does some extraordinary work... sooo DETAILED!... sooo intricate... It's just like being "Under da' Sea"... but... in a room! 😂 GORGE!
Yes, it's fantastic. Thanks for watching. ~Shiree
I have a question. In the pattern, I see a YO followed by Sl2-K1-P3SSO. I’m not sure if the YO is correct. An example is in the small lattice section. Between the star, it ends with a YO and then a Sl2-K1-P3SSO. It’s twisting my stitches
I'm going to request you contact the designer for support on the pattern. I'm not sure at this point. ~Shiree
What type of fiber? Wool?
Yes wool, wonderful glorious wool.
This is wonderful information to find while thinking about what kind of rabbits I want to get. I love knitting and my best friend loves crochet so rabbit yarn would be an awesome craft supply for us to work with! It would make such a cool scarf, blanket, sweater, or dress with the texture from the knots❤
Wonderful! Thanks for watching. ~Shiree
I am switching to cotton, linen and wool as well. I found two dresses that are 100% cotton. Yay!
Me too. I look for content all the time now on items I buy. Trying to stay with the good fibers. ~Shiree
Hi Marie! This is great! FYI: There is only 1 youtube on the Navajo 4 ply that I can find. It would be fun to learn from you on this method! Best to you!
Okay, I'll look into it. I've got a big job going now, and entire fleece on the wheel. It may be a little while. Thanks for letting me know. ~Shiree
Oh wow! Thank you for this video! I’m so close to purchasing the Ashford e-spinner! Do you still love it?
Yes, I still love it. It's a great little machine. ~Shiree
Great video - love the twisting at the end and also your technique at the initial warping stage - learnt a lot !
Great to hear!
I would like to learn more about this in regards to other fibers. It is VERY difficult to find modest dresses or any dresses that are beautiful and modest. I just found one but it is made from the cellulose layer in trees? Not sure what the frequency of this fabric but I purchased it because I thought, because it is natural, it should be ok, but when she mentioned silk having a low frequency, I wasn’t sure. Does anyone have a more extensive list?
I don't know.
I did learn a whole lot. Wow. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
I am 8 minutes in and I LOVE IT! What a great teacher!
Wow, thank you!
My fibre doesn't behave like that. It sinks into the teeth and then it's difficult to remove.
Don't give up. Try a different fiber. Get with others that know how to hand card and see if they can offer advice.
Thank you for taking us to see the finished project. How beautiful, colorful and what a story the exhibit tells! I think I saw your shark. 😊 Do you know if school children are being invited as a field trip? It would be so educational about our environment and a fun atmosphere for the kids. It might even inspire some new crocheters and knitters! -Tami
Glad you enjoyed it! It was a sight to behold. A worth while visit for all to see. Thanks for watching. ~Shiree
I found this information useful. I still need to figure out if this gs are similar in Canada, but it is a good start thabk you!
Thanks for watching!
I've been using my e spinner for a few months, but I've never really gotten into the habit of drafting straight from the roving. I find it easier (and more consistent) to separate a few slivers and draft them through a diz. That way they're already fluffy and equal thickness, and I only have to "feed" it to the spinner. I get really good thickness/twist consistency this way. But it does take a bit more preparation (and lots of breaks) and it's not as tactile. I still find the whole process very addicting though, especially when I'm watching TV. Time just flies!
I think it's all about the joy and comfort it brings to us. Any way that you spin is great. Happy spinning! ~Shiree
Your night shift shawl is beautiful. I have purchased the pattern but still have problems. Do you have a tutorial that will help me? I really want to make one. I am a more Visual person.
No I don't. My suggestion would be to read the pattern one sentence at a time, and google the term or part you don't understand. I still do that because I surely don't know everything. I can tackle anything one sentence at a time. Another suggestion is to go to your local yarn shop for help. Keep going, once you get an understanding of the pattern it will be smooth sailing. Thanks for watching. ~Shiree
I bought a very lovely one with celtic knotwork. Well made. I like the ball winding. However, I'm still in love with my turkish spindles, because they have a longer spin time. I found the dealgan a bit tiring to my wrist. Thank you very much for your instruction.
I totally get what you're saying. I like to adventure through all things fiber art. I spun with the Dealgan to experience it. I defaulted back to the drop spindle for the same reasons you said. Happy spinning. ~Shiree
I love your blue walls! Pretty
Thank you.
This video was very Fiberistic
