lemme just say that this person just showed us literally everything he knows about how to skulpt a female face!! not just his techniques but also the common flaws and mistakes we can make! dunno about others but i am really greatful that watched your tutorial sir. Thank you very much for this fun and informative tutorial~
"No, mouth is not like that. And also, mouth is not in forehead." "I'm doing a girl with no hair. She was a rebel.... I know, I know. She's a very brave one." "Because there is a muscle there.... which we have to have." "We will make it work..... most likely." This guy XD You've got yourself a subscriber.
"But, very very important, don't make this... kind of thing. It's not gonna work. It will be awful and you will suffer... from uuh, loss of self esteem."
This is a great tutorial. Your technique and knowledge are beyond most, only 18 minutes and you have a realistic, anatomically correct face. Most people push and pull a dynamesh until they get a resemblance of what a face looks like. You start with a skull as a base and work off of it, creating a flawless representation of a realistic head. Best head tutorial I've seen yet. Good job!
"...and also, the mouth is not on the forehead!" ...haha dude you're cracking me up. Probably the best intro to head sculpting I've ever seen. Totally on point. Easy to follow. Keep up the great work.
I'm sculpting a human head in ZBush Core Mini for my college class and I've been having so much trouble. After watching 10 minutes of this video, I feel like I know what I was doing wrong and how to change. This is such a perfect tutorial, you should be so proud of how you were able to make people understand so well after only 10 minutes.
Definitely the best free female head tutorial on the net. I really wanna thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial! It helped me alot! I'm sure everybody would love to see more of your workflow. This Channel should grow very fast, with this quality of tutorials.
Thank you so much for this video. I literally tried my hand at 3D sculpting for the first time in my life yesterday. The abomination I created would have been burned with fire had it not been digital lol. This video completely changed my mindset and approach.
I've struggled for 2 days now to sculpt a face for my character that I've drawn plenty of times in 2D, but doing it in 3D having to worry about every angle, but still get the look I want for any one angle, presents such a tremendous challenge. Honestly it's still not done, and I can see evn more so now after watching your vid. A very educational vid, and your humor made it not a chore to sit through. Thank you very much friend 👍
Thanks a lot man, you're one of the best guys that make tutorials, you go straight to the point and never stay quiet so you explain everything you do. I hope and wish you teach us more things in the future!
I was skeptic when I clicked on the video. But I think you changed me from a box modeling, low poly to high poly, subdivision guy into a sculptor. I've watched sculptors before... their seemingly impeccable knowledge of anatomy has intimidated me. not saying that anatomy isn't important because of course it is. But for some reason your video here has made it more approachable in my brain. Thank you for the techniques. You just got one new subscriber.
A little Gem in the zBrush tutorial desert. Humor, talent and lots of tipps. You pump knowledge and make me laugh. But what i appreciate most is the fact that you not hover down from the scupltor olymp pretending you were born with the skills. I am on zBrush now for three weeks (coming form MAYA) and i managed to make a decent head within your one hour tutorial. Thx a lot, man.
Man, I watched this tutorial more than 100 times over the years. I learned so much, and I laughed so much at your jokes that you manage to deliver very well with a straight face. I f***ing love you
I just got Z Brush literally 2 weeks ago and want to learn how to make my own models and am going through an online course at the moment. A friend of mine recommended your channel because it helped him out immensely. I can see why after watching your video. I'm a new subscriber and will come back to watch this one and the others after I finish the course. Thank you for your content and sharing your talent with us.
This is beyond perfect! I've been struggling for a long time to sculpt heads, basically only way I could do it was to put ref inside zbrush with spotlight, but I knew on the long run this would just hold me back so I started to learn actual proportions, face planes, etc. I have a basic undestanding of proportions, it made sense in my head but not in the zbrush head (bad pun intended), so yeah I was suffering from self esteem because I couldn't sculpt a head... Then I decided to "follow" this, yeah I was kinda rushing it, but for a rough attempt I was able to actually make sense of these proportions in the zbrush head. Thank you very much!
finally, someone who can actually fucking sculpt makes a decent video that i can learn from, so many videos out there with clueless people uploading videos on how to do anatomy based work with 0 idea as to what they're doing, was about to lose my mind, thank you for this
Pretty angry comment, but since it is flattering for me i like it :). You can take a look at my other videos as well i have few more for head sculpting :).
Mind absolutely blown. Best tutorial hands down. Observations, humour, common mistakes. I'm going to buy all your courses. You should make t-shirts with "Mouth is also not on forehead". Daily sculptors observations lol. A+ material, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
your tutorials are great, i cant wait to try putting this into practise in Zbrush but watching these has made me realise what ive been doing wrong about drawing mouths too
Extremely helpful tutorial to sculpt along with. I learned a lot about the head anatomy, fat pockets, muscles etc., and I'll definitely consider your courses also. Thanks!
Your humbleness overshadow your artful skill. Some artist dealing with the male/female anatomy go so high up that they believe they are Gods. Awesome knowledge of the distinctive features of the face anatomy. Thank you much for sharing your knowledge. I was just roaming around on this moonlight hours for something edifying to see when I caught sight of a familiar face features of a friend i knewed and stayed up right through until I was pop back to earth when the video ended. Thank you much for sharing your knowledge with others. We just try to emulate the art of the greatest artist there is: The true God.
Thank you. I don't know if some artist think of themselves as gods, but i know that part of our artistic searches and urges is the inner desire to feel more like a creator. Create our own creatures, worlds. To recreate life from simple objects, to give life even, however arrogant this may sound :). But the true dedicated artist will always know that he has a lot more to learn, and that there is always room for improvement. And that is also one of the most interesting parts of being an artist, the constant seek for improvement. So we are never completely happy with our work :).
2 months of practice for the tutroial - wow! Thanks so much for your efforts dude, love your sculpts and your sense of humour - also the knowledge you spread is greatly appreciated. Just wanted to say thanks anyways. ;)
I have used numerous pics of women for reference when i was doing practice heads for this tutorial. At least 30 practice heads for a month until i think i am good enough to do a tutorial. So you should use everything, skull, face, all you can find. :)
I learned a lot from this vid. And I already know how to draw and paint heads realistically, I am just new to 3D and sculpting and general. I learned a lot about how a sculptor works from watching this, thank you!
Everything is possible with practice. I saw people do super naive and very childish sculpts, and 2 years after they are just super good. But those 2 years are practice 3-4 hours a day. It's a slow process but it works :)
very good explanation about how to work with the proportion on the eyes and iris, is something that use to look allways odd and I didn't know why so I allway had to mess a lot arrount till I get more or less a good feeling. ThankS!
Потрясно! Легкие движения и выходит красота! Я повторяю за тобой, но выходит пока что так себе, сразу отказался от идеи лепить лица знакомых, что б не разочароваться в своих навыках :D
I've been trying to sculpt a head and failing until this tutorial. Followed step by step and suddenly it actually looks like a face omg thank you so much for sharing TTTT
It's your sense of humour that makes the hour long video easy to sit through.
"I know there are brainless girls, but still it is good to have it, because it looks nice."
I knew right away that this was gonna be a fun one.
i didn't expect to laugh this much in a tutorial
lemme just say that this person just showed us literally everything he knows about how to skulpt a female face!! not just his techniques but also the common flaws and mistakes we can make!

Absolute class. I learned so much, thank you!!
And I learned so much from both of you.
Both of you..🥇💎

I can't believe i sat through 2 hours of your head sculpting tutorials back to back. I will need to check them again later when I try to sculpt again
This is an astounding demo!!! I'm flabbergasted with this guy's talent. Incredible!
honestly the best soft tutorial ive ever seen. short and straight to the point ! i love it
Definitely the best free female head tutorial on the net. I really wanna thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial! It helped me alot!
I'm sure everybody would love to see more of your workflow. This Channel should grow very fast, with this quality of tutorials.
Thank you, hopefully I will have the time and will to do them :).
This is a good example of a long tutorial, a little bit of fun and a little bit of seriousness, I wasn't bored at all, very informative. Thank you.
"Don't do that or you will suffer from loss of self-esteem" LMAO XD
true though... xD
I’ve drawn portraits for many years and still benefitted from this!
Thank you so much for this video. I literally tried my hand at 3D sculpting for the first time in my life yesterday. The abomination I created would have been burned with fire had it not been digital lol. This video completely changed my mindset and approach.

Talking about english language, your art speaks for its self, and everyone can see how excellent your work is, amazing!
Thanks a lot man, you're one of the best guys that make tutorials, you go straight to the point and never stay quiet so you explain everything you do. I hope and wish you teach us more things in the future!
Thank you I will try to make more courses and tutorials :)
Thank you! I followed it through as one of the first head sculpting experiences for me and im happy with the result
man, it's really the best video about sculpting FEMALE head. thank you very much for this result and for way you behave
Just watching 5 minutes of this was a great reminder of how important it is to know your anatomy. Great lesson! :)
You just got one new subscriber.
You did a great job on the female head. NOW I understand why it is important to work in low res first. Thank you for that.
That joke at the beginning just had me floored, great way to start a tutorial.
很直观的教程。。。从事这个行业有两年多了 目前角色 做的总是不尽人意 在这里 我看到了方向 谢谢

I like the way you are establishing the ears early in the sculpt, which clarifies head proportions
esp cheekbones

Niko is one of the best Zbrush tutors out there! I watched so many hours of his stuff, I feel like I know the guy :D
This is beyond perfect!

Following this on blender, And might i say this was an awesome tutorial. I'm a guy who HATES sculpting but this tutorial breaks it down! Thanks.
Yeah, hopefully you can follow this in any sculpting program you know. It's more like anatomy tutorial than sculpting one anyway :).

Awesome talent and using a skull for reference rather a picture of a woman is pure genius and definitely something I'm gonna do.
thanks for the tips.
I have used numerous pics of women for reference when i was doing practice heads for this tutorial. At least 30 practice heads for a month until i think i am good enough to do a tutorial. So you should use everything, skull, face, all you can find. :)
Your advice is very valuable and your humor is awesome. You are a great mentor!
I'm especially impressed with the eyes. That's the first time I've seen color used.
I learned a lot from this vid. And I already know how to draw and paint heads realistically, I am just new to 3D and sculpting and general. I learned a lot about how a sculptor works from watching this, thank you!

just an hour? wow very skillful!
Once i sculpt a nose the wrong way and i lost my self esteem. Until now, this tutorial bring my confidence back.
Damn, this is exactly what I was about to search in 10 minutes, and UA-cam just recommended it to me
Top man, clear and concise.
Also one of the best monobrows I've seen in a while.

Great sculpting! Your sense of humor is fantastic.
11 mins in and I have taken more notes than any other video 👌
Watched this and immediately signed up to your udemy course.
I like your talent combo. Great digital sculptor and comedian :) Good Job NIkolay
This is an amazing walk through, watching you do this so effortlessly while I'm struggling to draw even a stick figure.
Everything is possible with practice. I saw people do super naive and very childish sculpts, and 2 years after they are just super good. But those 2 years are practice 3-4 hours a day. It's a slow process but it works :)
i am watching your tutorial everyday first in the morning to try and capture the form i am trying to make! thank you for this amazing tutorial!
I've watched this so many times and it never gets old
Maybe I should watch it too then :)
