As an avid Blender user and sculptor, I must say Zbrush has some of the worst ui and shortcut configuration I have ever seen. I hope Blender manages to reach the same sculpting performance one day xD. But your tutorial was great all the same, thank you!
That's exactly what I thought XD
Or, and this might be crazy hold on, Zbrush just gets its UI in order for a near $1000 price tag. Make it easier to access and all that.
@@user-dingydee Agreed, the price tag is quite obsurd imo. As a note from a Blender user if you're keen to dive more into sculpting, I'd highly recommend picking up the Quad Remesher add on from Exoside. It's essentially a Z-remesher, but completely makes sculpting in Blender so much better. It's a little pricey as an add on, but very cheap when compared to a Zbrush subscription.
Actually u eventually get use to it and start loving it Zbrush is like an acquired taste
It's just terrible Ui management
So perfect. The level of efforts you put in and have patience, hats off dude!
Thank you so much! ☺️
I notice it mirrors every stroke perfectly. How do you turn that off? Like what if you want to make an asymmetric feature on the face?
great tutorial
Thank you so much! 😊
im stuck.. Trying to mirror the horns. Have taken note of Auto Polygroup but only one horn mirrors, pls help ;-;-;-;-;-;

i love when this guy just casually drops the proper anatomical terminology for the particular muscle that he’s trying to sculpt like ok michelangelo
Art school can be brutal. Depending where you go you also get a free latin course!
Every normal person knows those terms. Did you drop out of 3rd grade?
@@bassage13 Not everyone does, I am currently reading an anatomy book to learn all of the muscles of the human body for art. Everyone is at a different point, just because you know something doesn't mean everyone does. Everyone has different experiences and has different knowledge in different areas. For example a janitor knows a lot more about cleaning products than an artist. It makes no sense to demean people over not knowing something.
Dude, I barely knew about ZBrush, I started your video thinking I wouldn't be able to do it, and look! I made my first 3d model! Thank you so much!!!
Great to hear! 🫶
that's so cool! I'm starting right now too!
@@Nexttut excuse me, im losing a mirror brush and now i have to draw each side, please help me how to turn it back

People would definitely benefit a lot more if you would show Part 2 texturing, lighting, rendering, composition part. Great tut for beginners.
Please do it!!!
@@ricardopires4713he wants --> 💰 otherwise no one would buy his courses 🤷🏻♂️ pretty much most youtubers follow the same formula its a way of living as a source of income. we get only peeks and short clips from now and then.
He wants you to pay $100 to learn that through Udemy. If it wasn't so expensive, it'd probably be a better source of PASSIVE income. If it was free, you'd make even more money from UA-cam and ad revenue than you could through Udemy. 🫠
love your style of teaching, not too speedy not too slow, perfect!
Glad you like it!
One learns any software in less than a hour. The question is: one learn how to operate the software. In regards to learn modeling, sculpting or any other thing, it is a completely different story. How to create a light: anyone learns how to do this in less than a minute. How to light a scene properly: it is a completely different story, and so on... Therefore, this kind of approach is a complete delusion.
Been using Zbrush for a while. And yeah, I remember it took me 2 hours to get through that. 2:36 And another 30 minutes after restarted Zbrush because I couldn't remember how did I do that the first time.
Thanks a lot for this beginner's tutorial. It's been super fast but rigorous, I love that you pointed out what all the shortcuts are. Super fun too, congrats
Glad you like it!
This video is perfect! I have never sculpt in any software before and have zero knowledge in sculpting.
Very helpful for my first time and it definitely kickstart my knowledge to use Zbrush
That's great to hear! Happy it helped 🤛
ZBrush is cool, but the suffer from a horrendous UI
This is great! Similar tutorial for iPad version would be fantastic 👍👍👍
Thanks! 🔜
You should definitely have more love for your channel. I am studying 3D (jack of all trades kind of study) at present, and ZBrush has eluded me so far. Mostly because the lessons I have learned are chopped up, I think. Your intro was quicker and more intuitive, so perhaps this is how I learn the best. Thanks!
I've been considering learning Zbrush for years, seen a lot of 'beginner' tutorials - this is hands down the most informative and motivating tutorial I've come across. Kudos on finding the perfect set of brushes to showcase so the viewers aren't overwhelmed or intimidated by all the brush options, but still enough brushes to create a dynamic sculpt. You clearly have a mastery over the software as well as an understanding of a beginner's perspective. Well done!
ahhh if only you have actually started learning it instead of just keeping considering it for years - you may have made a huge progress over these years :(
@@gegi4577 relatable LOL (i'm not laughing i'm actually crying)
Im sorry if this sounds harsh but if you took action instead of considering learning something for years is such a waste of time and meaningless.
I've learned about two dozen software packages relating to my job, so I am a bit more judicious than you perhaps in what I choose to dive into - i.e. Can I afford another software license? How useful will this software be in my motion graphics career? If the answer to either of those is "no" then I will continue to admire from afar. You must picture a person just petrified of failure, spending countless days watching videos trying to get up the nerve to try something... that is not who I am. It's astounding that THIS snarky quip is what you felt compelled to reply to a comment that was clearly created foremostly to show appreciation to the author of the video. Quite sad and unnecessary I'm afraid :( @@fluorescent9764
Sorry, I've been busy learning lots of software that's actually useful in my job, I'd wager about 3x the software you know. Thanks for commenting. @@gegi4577
I really enjoyed this tutorial, thank you. You explained everything very well and i'm definitely watching more videos to get better at Z brush. My only little comment would be to move the shortcuts that pop up on your screen a little higher up, so that we can see them. Other than that, I'm now a officially a fan!
Perfect video for Zbrush beginners, thanks @Nexttut for this tutorial. 👌👌
Glad you think so! Thank you! 😊
The exact beginner guide i needed to start learning ZBrush.
If was very useful and easy to follow-up, Thank You very Much Sir.
You're welcome! Hope you enjoyed it ☺️
I love your quick tutorial! I had a question.
I have been doing the famous donut blender tutorial and I had a question here for zbrush.
I sculpted an iced donut. but then I wanted the inner diameter of the donut to be larger, but keeping the thickness of the donut the same. Is there a way I can copy the details I sculpted on the original and apply it to the new sized base model?

Learn in 40 minutes! Forget it! Relearn the next time you open the app! Relearn it again in 40! That's the Zbrush way! It is the most nonsensical, abysmally designed piece of software I have ever had the misfortune of using. I cannot express in words how bad it is. Everyone learning UI design should use Zbrush as a case study in what not to do. Please stop creating tutorials for, and supporting this terrible piece of engineering. "But it's industry standard!" -- yeah well it doesn't deserve to be! Can we please move on??? Go use 3D Coat instead.
Ur talking speed like u have train after recording 😢
Hi Nalin. I need to hire a ZBrush expert for a fairly simple project. Are you available or can you recommend someone? Thanks
Could I get a llist of the brushes used in this video? I only remembered move and clay build up. I was so focus and mesmerize by how you condense this video. Thank you
I'm having a slight problem: when I did this tutorial, and with models since, if I try to mirror a group of multiple subtools (eg trying to do the horns for this tutorial), only one of them will mirror. I can't find anything anywhere that's helpful to solve it, does anyone know what to do?
Why can't I move myself in zbrush even if I clicked on alt?
Great tutorial, unable to follow after 16:02, becomes convoluted on Zbrush
one thing that bothers me about Zbrush is their naming. Tools and subtools.... should be Objects, sub objects, meshes, actors, whatever name would be better than tools and subtools .
bro could you pls tell me how you did the mirror till starting by using brush if you explain this in any vdo pls share with me it's very helpful for me
I am making your course of Oni on udemy. Im loving it so much. I just miss the 1st blockage using geometrics what i think you could improve. I them stopped and am doing the Rafa souza's videos (on youtube) to learn more them i will be back to finish the ONI. Thank you and congratulations🎉
26:04 common mistakes

29:38 duplicate mirrors objects

duplicate? VERY easy..
You press W, control, alt and drag
Just kidding hats off to you man for such a great tutorial!
Can someone please explain how i can select the horns one by one. I want to randomise texturing and modelling on each horn differently.
Why pay for Z-Brush, when you can have a better and free 3D Blender?
Thank you very much! This is my second day in Zbrush and your lesson was really helpful and interesting. Also the result was surprisingly good!
Great to hear! ☺
Hey there I had a problem with mirroring the horns. at 29:34 when I do the same things you do to mirror the horns, it only mirrors one and not both of them, in this case the one on the back because it is the active horn. How do i mirror both of them? I'm also confused as to how to select the other horn, as in the subtool menu they seem to be in the same "layer"? but I dont know how to choose the other one now. Thanks to anyone who might help :)
What Wacom size is recommended (or other brands) for sculpting?
Thompson John Harris Christopher Davis Melissa
Great tutorial! I have a quick question.
I appended a sphere in the subtool menu and sculpted it to a shape, then I duplicated it using the same steps in your video. I press 'Auto Groups' and the original and duplicated object both become purple (although a slight different hue). When I then use the mirror command it only mirrrors the duplicated object? I followed the exact steps as in your video so I am not sure what could be wrong. Thanks!
When you use the ctrl+alt duplicate command it applies a mask to the first one, which you have to remove (you can see he does this at 29:20). Simply remove the mask and do the steps again :)

Stupid question. How do you start a new scene in Zbrush?
Any timestamps available to come back for specific methods?

So I put a piece of clothing into zbrush, I can not see the inside of the clothing, its like is a alpha and its invisible. I made the clothing from Blender. How do I fix it ?
It’s probably super big that was my problem
I used Zbrush for the first time and the video you made is one of the best tutorials for beginners. Thanks for your help :))
Glad it helped! 😊
Which version do you use of zbrush?
I'm more intrigued about the final composition xD. Lighting looks great.
Simple 3 light setup in Maya one light coming from the top and one at each side + an hdri with low exposure
Sir how to take sphere box it's not showing
currently learning zbrush at school but I'm still gonna come back to your channel and get more value from you. Thanks!
Wow, nice to hear it! You can do it 👊
Zbrush has the WORST UI Navigation in all of 3D softwares. Seriously how hard is it to manage my objects around the space. I'm a newbie in Zbrush but all other 3D software like Maya, Blender's UI are all intuitive and easy understand. Learning Zbrush is the most frustrating experience and making 3D artist hobby NOT fun.. but it is a very necesary tool if you want to up your 3D artist skills.

Hello, Which Computer would you suggest for Professional Zbrush? Mac or Pc? Thanks in advance.
And here i am can't even close the project pane
can we use it with ipad pro 2021?
for people who can't afford or dont want an ipad (that are reading this) you can use a mouse it'll just take like 1.5x longer (Yes I timed it)
Trust me i find a lot and this tutorial is best till now ☺️ thankyou so much for this ❣️

That was an amazing tutorial, it was so easy to follow and very intuitive. Although I was hoping to learn how to color and render

CBrush sounds more related to clay than ZBrush
i think the Z is a play on the 3rd dimensional aspect of the program, xyz is dimension related, abc is subject related.
Sir I have done ur tutorial and the result is stunning, would u like to view my hard work sir?
bro, you should have this in that courses. at first it was so confusing for me
