Hey Matt, I work in the rainwater collection industry. I love what you’re doing with the coop and think it’s outstanding that you’ve done all this yourself! I do want to offer advice though- you may want to add a screen over that overflow output. The way I saw it, there’s a clear, unfiltered channel from the overflow to the top water which is an excellent way for critters, insects, and pests to get into your water. You could just simply get some cheap mesh and literally duct tape it around all openings to prevent that sort of contamination. I’d highly recommend it. It wouldn’t inhibit water flow and would give you extra peace of mind for the longevity of the system as well as preventing maintenance. Thanks for reading this buddy, love ya!

Considering that this has been in the top comments for a long time now, I'm guessing that either Matt or Mere, or maybe both, doesn't want to make that shirt or for that shirt to be made. Maybe Mere doesn't want thousands of people wearing shirts advocating not telling her something, even if it's an inside joke from the channel. Even if it's just a joke, having people saying "oh no, we're not supposed to tell Mere" or something like that every time they see you can get very tiring. There are many reasons why they might simply not want a shirt like that.

My class is an introduction to photography and videography. We cover the basics of what makes a good photo and practice using our cameras to take more than just selfies. We also have some fun learning to edit them with Photoshop. As for video, we learn how to use a camera, import video and basic editing skills. We watch a lot of UA-cam videos and talk about what they did to make the video interesting. Most of my students are too nervous to be on camera and, like me, would rather be involved with the editing.

Hey, great video. One idea for your old tool cabinet could be to have it as a rolling tool chest/work bench if your working further away from your shop. Maybe add 4 swivel castors to the bottom. This will allow you to load it with tools for a specific task or job and the roll it over to the area your working and still be able to tuck it under your shop bench when not in use.

Just to throw this out there about the extra tool box. I use my extra ones like you have to store tools and such for jobs that I have to do but they are few and far between. Take oil changes, I keep the exact sockets, wrenches, filter wrench, extra filters, shop rags, and any other little tool or part I need for doing those things on my vehicles in one of them. Come oil change time I go to one spot and everything is there and I don't need to go digging through the rest of my tools or running around the garage to get the right stuff. Think chicken coupe. Keep all the stuff you need to repair the water system or the doors and what not in there. Oh and yes I have one very similar to yours and that is all the tools and what not for working on or cleaning my guns. No matter what it is, if I'm doing anything to a firearm I open that box and only that box.

Also, the only time you'd really lock the casters would be while using the top surface, and it wouldn't be under something. And what would you put it under? A really high table that has NOTHING under it. No supports, no shelving, no storage.

I understand this was an AD for rhino but when you are trying to compare that tool box to your husky tool box it’s not comparable the rhino is $2000 you have a low-end model of the Husky tool box which was probably about 200- 300 bucks and if you were to buy a high end husky one the bottom drawers are rated for 200lbs and is also made with 21gauge steel just saying you’re comparing apples to oranges.

He's using the husky as a stand in for all those "like boxes." Some are in excess of $1000 (for a similar configuration) and are still made out of thin sheet stock. This is $1700 after the discount code, (Shipping included) so when you start comparing it to other high-end toolboxes, it's not really that bad of a price.

It would look so much nicer if you ran the output of the gutters on the sides of the structure directly into the upper portion of the structure and then ran the piping over to the tanks. Then you just drop the water into the top of the tank as I said. The same is true for the open enclosure area. Run the water directly along the top of the enclosure into the top of the structure and then drop it into the tank keeping each of the three lines separate to avoid choke points. Then connect a valve to the bottom of each tank. Using two couplers attached to the output of the valves run your drain line and watering lines for the chickens out of the mine that is connected to the couplers. This allows for easy drain down in case of a hard freeze and hard freezes to find as below say 25 or even 27°. In such case you just shut off the valves and disconnect the couplers and drain out the system. The lines to water the chickens and their Associated train or just fine. As I said earlier, down to about 27 225 degrees you can just slightly open the two drain valves at the end of the watering lines for the chickens period a very small amount of flow will provide enough movement in the water lines has to avoid freezing. This is specifically why you do not ever fill the tanks from the bottom or retain water in the input line as they represent a serious freezing hazard! That is not smart! In addition it requires a lot more piping and is asking for problems with choke points and complex systems that are not only unnecessary but also pretty doggone ugly. Your wife is a classy gal and would prefer my type of design which is clean efficient and attractive. Let me know if I can help any further. 1abqdad@gmail.com

If you are worried about the pipes freezing you can try foam pipe wrap. Its like a "pool noodle" with a slit down it so you can wrap the pipe. For your weather, that should be good enough. - From Canada

It would be a good idea to put something around the clear pipes, like a pool noodle. This will prevent algae growth in the clear tubes. Pool noodles can be taken off with ease if you cut them length ways.

Hey Matt! I'm not an expert or a physics major, but I think your overflow tube is going to work as a siphon if the water level reaches the u bend.
You might want to over fill them just to see what happens.
(I have a pythagorean cup that does the same thing. If it does, just install a vent at the top of the bend to let air in. That will kill the siphon.)
Thanks for reading, and I hope I'm wrong. It's a really neat system!

My toolbox also used an external bar to lock the drawers. That didn't stop the thieves though. With a little force, you can pull on that bar in the middle and it will come out of the bracket at the bottom. Then all of the lower drawers can be robbed. I welded on larger brackets top and bottom and got a 3/4 steel bar and drilled a hole at the end. My padlock is on the bottom of the rod now. It's a little aggravating unlocking it now, but it is far more secure. I lost several thousand dollars worth of tools and my insurance only covered part of it.

When both tanks fill up and the water starts going out the overflow pipe, it's going to siphon out all the water from the tanks. The overflow needs to go out the side (or top) of the building without going down. Or, if you feel it has to go down, then give it an air vent pipe at the highest point to break the siphon. If you don't believe me, just ask any plumber how a toilet works.

Ok, just an observation, you have spent hours and a buttlode of cash installing, removing and reinstalling
a big time watering system. Have redesigned and installed the entire interior of the chicken coop, but
you still have a FRIGGEN! wire running out to the latch so you and the kids don't lock yourselves inside ???
You can do better than that, come on.
