That's now 3 1/2 years ago and currently Dan is working miracles at this old chateau, having restored almost all of the floors and going to rebuild the roof over the next weeks. Seeing this early video is even more exiting, when you know how far he has come with making this dream come true. And the kids grew up so fast!!!
Having joined your journey recently, it’s fascinating to see this special moment when you first saw the chateau! Brilliant and well done for everything you’ve done!
That image of you with your adorable children standing in front of that chateau... I can picture you in twenty years time, and your grown up sons, standing on the same spot with the renovated chateau in the background!
I watched the whole abandoned chateau playlist and while waiting for the next episode, found this old gem. So cool to witness your first visit to this chateau!
Yeah am doing the same, just wondering if there's more video's of when they first moved in. From living in caravan to moving in and then main part of the house.
Same here. Just recently came across a Chateau video and I was memorized. Instantly subscribed and have binge watched every Chateau video among others. Can't wait for the next release.
Such a spectacular record of how it all began…no one could imagine the progress you have made in such short time. If ever you get disheartened, tho it’s doubtful, but just roll back to this episode…it’s amazing. Onwards and upwards..
Incredible to see you the first time exploring the Chateau. And even more unbelievable to think what you managed to achieve by now. Outstanding work, Dan!
Been watching the progress on the chateau for a while now and just found this one. I love the channel and the progress. But that brings the question that maybe I shouldn't ask but want to make sense of as my spouse problem may well be the same but only many years more since the break up. What was the problem that made them separate? I'm just trying to get a handle on it that would make sense of it. I fully understand the stress on Dan, being away from his boys that much, been there myself. My son is grown now with 2 boys of his own.
@@frankwurth5375 Apparently infidelity on Dan's part with a women called Cat at the Le lande Chateau . He was working there as a gardener. Had to watch a myriad of videos and read comments to get to the bottom of the problem. Very sad.
@@maureensutton1365 Thanks for the update. I watched a few of those videos from then and yes the gals there were more than a bit flirty. Shame that the kids have to suffer. On my X, she decided that her new supervisor at the office she worked at, was a better lover than me and took off to another state for 17 years to be his side piece! Totally didn't expect or even bring myself to believe it for too long before the reality sunk in.
We need to encourage more boys to grow up and be like Dan before our world falls apart. Hardly anyone knows how to fix anything anymore. And he's there for his lovely wife and kids. The biggest problem with the kids here in the US are so many fathers are not in the home to help raise the kids. The balance of mother and father is more crucial than many realize.
What a difference you've made Dan. I remember this episode. You didn't let on for a long time what your plans were. Who'd have thought it would have such an amazing impact on people! Fantastic!

Don't know how I missed this episode last year, but I'm happy it came up in the suggested list today. Seeing the abandoned chateau with you guys for the 1st time a year ago was epic! Especially since it's now yours and I'm totally looking forward to seeing it come back to life! 😉
Actually, a concrete countertop in one colour would look great. Otherwise I feel there would have been too many patterns in the one room. The contrast will give the whole more definition. Dan, you are one incredible worker.
How nice for this vlog to pop up just after Dan announced his new project - the chateau seen for the first time in this video! Great seeing it at a different time of day!
Dan you are such a hard worker for your family . Such a good example to others but especially your sons. I hope you are proud of your achievements with the support of Annelise
I'm sure you two could bring that chateau back to life. It breaks my heart to see it like that. What an incredible project it would be. Love your videos
UA-cam suggested this episode for me today, so funny that it reveals the ruined chateau you ended up buying! Wow, this has been a loooong time in the making, just look at how small the boys were!
Yes, an extremely crafty device worth it's weight in gold☄...esp. when you have natural difficulties sussing out a 📏straight line all on your own otherwise.
The time Dan, with his whole family, find a future project! Good to look back and see that and some of the skills you have used working on the cottage. It will be interesting watching you use those on the new project. ❤️😊

Wow this old episode popped up. Was this your first view of what has become your new chateau and passion project. I’m really excited to watch the magic unfold.
That chateau is so stunning. I can’t believe people ever let them get into this state in the first place. It’s still beautiful with nature reclaiming it, but what a loss of beautiful unique architecture! I am sad about the wood counter, but poured polished concrete counters are so nice. Perfect solution!
