Carpelicious: Carp Fishing AT One Of My Favourite Fishing Spots
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лют 2025
- After chain sawing my way through numerous fallen trees to clear the track in, I made my way to one of my favourite, and most relaxing fishing spots.
Sure it's only a carp fishing spot, but it is a spot that I love and I always feel relaxed here. Hopefully my relaxed mood is reflected in this laid back carp fishing video.

The old black queen, I’ve had one since the 70’s I have been fishing with mine today. Great rod
They sure are great. This one is a seventies model too. A genuine original.
Always love a Sunday session of Robbie fishing
Awesome work
Thanks so much mate.
Cracker of a spot mate, love the old vintage black queen wobble sticks.
Thanks mate, so do I. Catching carp with it is so much fun.
What a great place to fish calm waters yeah great one mate thanks🤟🤟
Thanks so much mate, it's definitely one of my favourite places.
Bro I love watching a inspiring videos that helps me with fishing and wear is this beautiful carp spot
Thanks so much mate. I was in a Lagoon along the Ovens River.
I thought you were going to let me down on a Sunnday arvo when I have a week of night shift coming up.
Thanks Robbie.
A week of night shift hey, I remember those days well. Very hard. I hope you have a great week mate.
Not alone Mate, I have a week of early ones ahead , ( 0.4.00 am starts) all the best Mate and hope you have a great week ahead buddy.
Cheers
Rob
Nice way to spend an arvo...... barefoot and connected. Thanks Robbie
Thanks mate. I agree. 👍👍
Looked like a fun session, carp can certainly pull!
Thanks Frank, you're not wrong mate they sure can.
That's an awesome looking spot! Drone Footage was good too 🙂👌
Thanks so much mate. 👍👍
Love the Carpio sesseions, we give ours to friends who use them for compost.
Thanks mate, and what a great idea.
I second the electrical Stihl! Got one in my camping canopy. Absolutely fantastic bit of kit. No need to carry fuel. Can cut decent sized limbs and runs for hours! Saw, battery and charger cost me about $450. Definitely recommend to anyone with a camper trailer or canopy!
Absolutely mate, I agree on all of that. No noise, no fuel, no spark plugs, no malfunctions. It's bloody brilliant.
The old black queen, i caught so many fish on my old mans queen haha, ahhh the nostalgia robbie. People say im silly fishing for cod with 6lb braid but youd be surprised the size fish you can pull if they are played. Love ya work brother.
Thanks mate. You are sillu for cod fishing with 6lb braid. Haha You will lose.too many lures. LOL 😂😂😂
Great video Robbie, I’ve just come back from a overnight trip to the Murray river with my dad and we caught some nice 50+ cm Murray cod and a thumping yellowbelly and some small trout cod. 👍👍
Thanks mate, that's great. It sound like you had a ripper of a weekend. Well done.
Nice to get a couple out of the water mate the 4 pound line I think your keen chasing big carp on that but it gets it done so nice work mate cheers
Thanks mate. Haha 4lb certainly keeps it interesting. LOL 🤣
Hey Robbie. Love the old Black Queen! I grew up using 1. Great fun . Brings back great memories Cheers mate
Thanks Frank. They're such a great old rod to use. They're impossible to cast, but a lot of fun when you hook up. Haha 😂
@@robbiefishing true that. Especially in tight spaces. Snagged many a tree branch. My poor dad would get so frustrated lol
Looks an ace spot.Shame all my good spots I had back in the day are packed out with poeple. You are so lucky to have that whole place to yourself. That is why I sort of gave up.
Great to watch as always Mate, Big thanks for sharing Robbie.
You are totally correct in my experience, the warm water seems to make them fight better.
Great to see the old rod back in action Mate .
While the water is warm the Carp will take from the surface I have found, try them on a Fly rod for real great fun, Haha, or even floating crust sometimes..
Thanks for the Ariel footage mate, your sky views are getting better and better !
I really enjoyed watching and enjoyed my Sunday arvo cold one while viewing .
A work week awaits :(
Cheers Mate.
Thank you so much for your kind words Robert. The drone footage was a drama. I maxed out at 30 metres. I couldn't go any higher unless I Iogged into the DJI app, and I couldn't log into the app because I had no phone service. Haha 😂😂😂
Where I grew up a factory discharged water that was used for cooling. Left it out into a lake. The water was warm coming out so we called it the warm waters. Useless in the summer but in the winter that warm water held carp. Other fish too but mostly carp. The preferred method of fishing was a single kernel of corn on a fly rod. Toss a little bit of corn then cast to that. A large carp on a fly rod. WOW. Fun times.
Hi mate that is awesome. We have a spot down here near the coast nicknamed "The Warmies" which I believe is a similar setup. I've never been there, but apparently it is the go to place to catch fish in the winter months as warm water is released from a factory, or power station or something.
@@robbiefishing I have 2 close to me. One, the warm waters, is a large lake maintained by a paper making factory. The other is a coal fired power plant on the Susquehanna River (named for local native Americans). The power plant is awesome walleye fishing in the winter weather. Other fish as well but walleye is the target species. On the river you can find the native Americans fishing camps. It used to be pretty common to find artifacts around the camps but as more people learned of them they got picked over so today finds are rare. Another common sighting are petroglyphs carved into rocks along the river. Many think they may be markers like in today's terms here is a good place for fish camp. Speculation mostly. The river in my area is fresh water. Going south to Maryland there is "brackish" water where the Chesapeake Bay (named for another tribe) mixes with the river. There when the shad and herring breed you can catch either.
Hello rob
What a place , so quite and out if the way , I could lose myself in my thoughts there with ease..
Thank you rob
Hello to the gang
😎🏴🎣
Nice place to go and rest.God bless.
Thanks so much Mike. That is what I love about it. So quiet and peaceful.
I hope you have all had a great weekend mate.
Thanks Becky, it sure is. God Bless you too. 🙏
Congratulations well played mate
Thanks mate.
Good one mate 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Cam.
Nap time area lmao 🤣 I use a shifter right between the eyes top of the head.. another great video mate
Thanks mate. Haha A shifter will certainly help of sleep. LOL 🤣
Just a great looking spot to chill and have a relaxing fishing session. Drone footage was great, but my old eyes couldn't see the turtles :)
Thanks Larry. I could see them on the drone footage but I couldn't see them when I was actually there. Haha
Hi mate, 1964 I got my first Black Queen Delux,,, and still use it to-day.
That is so awesome, they're certainly an iconic rod..
Amazing video I just came back from lake eucombene and cought 11 trout 6 rainbow and 5 brown 8 keepers have a good week
Thanks mate. WOW sounds like you had a great week, well done.
@@robbiefishing thanks robbie
Hay brother from another mum look like a perfect day things we do for a fish lucky bro wasn’t with you she would of given you a hard time lol Great video love the sound of a reel running
Haha thanks mate. If bro had of been with me it would have been a big help moving all of those trees. Haha
Pause at 6:56. Mate.... Mate!... 4lb line ... Mate..... Maate!... Your actually killing me with this video. I love your videos and have never disagree with anything you've said or done, I've even learnt I thing or two thanks. I get up around Canberra and rural NSW. Carp is something I've gotten a lot. By far the most caught fish in my life. My rig (easiest rig in the world for carp. Running sinker on 8-10 lb mono leader for as long as your rod so the swivel doesn't go inside the first eye. 10-14 lb braid any colour you want but I prefer green. You can still use your red and white ball if you want.
Corn is good Dr Brian Pratt once told me to ad aniseed oil to the jar of corn RIP. Didn't notice any difference. Worms are good but you get turtles and other stuff like redfin so on. Bread /dough is also good and I've had mixed results with mud eyes and moon bait worms and trout bait.
Rant over back to the video.
I usually use 6lb for this type of fishing. There's actually quite a lot of difference between 4lb and 6lb. The only reason I used 4 was because that was already on that reel and my 6lb reels were already on other rods.
@@robbiefishing I'm going to have to get some light line and give it a go man. It'll get ya heart going that's for sure
Great Carp session Robbie!!.. when are you gonna show us your new Fishing Car? I like that you've got a drone back up on your videos 💪🙌
Thanks mate. I never show my car in my videos for a number of reasons. 👍👍
@robbiefishing oh no worries robbie. Because you showed your old one I thought we'd get to see the new one but I totally understand 💪
Another great video Robbie 🙌🏾 where do you get that dual rod holder from
?
Thanks Matt. You can only find them on Instagram. The account is called U_bewt_fishing_rod_holders
Another entertaining vid mate.
Question, the trees that have fallen over can we cut them down and take home
G'day Hamit, thanks mate.
No these trees are in a National Park. Technically I'm not even sure if I was supposed to use a chainsaw, but Parks Victoria hadn't made it to that part of the park for a while. There's been a lot of trees down and storm damage for them to clean up recently. I think they will appreciate the help.
The Jarvis Black Queen Deluxe ( with agate runners) paired with D.A.M Quick 330 reel apex fishing gear back in the day! 😂
The winning combination. 👍👍
Hey Robbie, blue sky had new black queen rods 2 years ago. I got 2!
Awesome. Are they still as soft and floppy as these old originals?
@@robbiefishing yep, still nice and bendy. Spaghetti stick lol
Robbie, I know that a 4 lb line is the way to go, but have you tried the ultra fine braid. It flows like the lighter nylon, but has superior break resistance ( to ensure you get to beach the 70+ cm mud marlins)
Thanks mate. I tried it years ago, but much prefer mono for this type of fishing. 👍👍
Sort have forgotten most people probably wouldn't have had much to do with fibreglass rods, I guess there's enough of them still out there rattling around in cupboards and sheds that you'll come across them. In the really early 80's when I was just starting year 7 in high school I remember buying the best 'new thing' on the market being a graphite Daiwa rod with the alloy runners on it and it may as well have been made of feathers and unicorns compared to the old fibreglass rods. Very impressed and I still have it tucked away with a fairly mediocre Shimano reel on it that was a replacement for something better that I probably lost or broke.
Though I did pay about 30 bucks for that rod which was fairly horrendous amounts of saving up for about half a year
I don't think I could get a new Daiwa rod for that much these days, might have to save up for about half a year again :)
WOW $30 would have been a lot of money in the early 80s. I remember in the mid 80s my Mum would give my brother and I $2 each to buy our lunch at school every Wednesday.
For my $2 I would get a hot-dog, a Sunny Boy, a packet of Burger Rings and a can of coke. It was $2 even. So $30 must have been a lot of money. Haha
@@robbiefishing Child labour for the win!
Every Saturday dad would take me to work at the time which was a glazier/windscreen replacement so after a morning of cleaning up a few hundred kilos of broken glass I'd get 2-3 bucks.
Fairly sure that's not on the responsible parenting guide these days, but back then it was the 1980s Ivan Drago School of Life experiences- 'If he dies, he dies'
Wasn’t sure who was going to conk out first Rob you or the fish .puffin and blownin like a old engine I know the felling well mate 😀👍
LOL 😂😂😂😂
Carpfest '24!
Hahaha
There was a fella about 3 weeks ago selling an original Black Queen on a local Facebook group. He only wanted $20. I should have grabbed it. Will have to track it down and see if it sold.
Awesome, what a bargain. They're a lot of fun to fish with.
What some people will do to catch a carp... epic 😂😂😂
Hahaha thanks Doug. 👍👍
Gday Robbie, i went fishing yesterday and caught a 2 carp one 80 and one 60, we also caught a silver brim which was 40
Love the content and keep catching fish ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much mate, and WOW well done on your awesome fish.
Love it bro... U need 6 or 8lb Maxima line bro... Were was Berryl...? 😂
Thanks bro. Haha I think Beryl might have had school that day.
Hi Robbie have you ever heard of freshwater bream they look a bit like silver perch or Macquarie perch but smaller and they have a row of thorns along their dorsal fin you can catch them on cheese I’m not sure what other baits they would take but great vid as always thanks you are such a joker 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks so much mate. I have heard of Bony Bream. We do not get them up here where I live though. I would love to catch one some day.
@@robbiefishing well we catch them in cohuna when we go camping
Gotta love the robbiefishing notification. I want to go fishing at my local lake but it has blue-green algae in it😢
Lol, "This'll take more than the snippers..." pulls out a chainsaw.
Hahahaha 😆😆😆
Hi Robbie, have you had the Black Queen from new, or at least in the family?
I have a Jarvis Walker 7’ “The Portsea” from the seventies, and also two 5’ “Middy” by Len Butterworth from the sixties, which I believe go for good money. Would you believe that I
found those three rods in a skip?
WOW that's unreal mate. My dad gave me this old rod. It is very much used. I believe he bought it from new in the 70s. It use to be his trout rod back then and he caught some huge trout on it in Lake Eucumbene.
Well can ya do it with a vintage alley.
That places looks really fun with the caep. But the Goulburn river is teaming with them there just eating everything 20 carp 7 trout cod and inr cod that i sent you.
Thanks mate. WOW there's certainly a carp plague.
5am Robbie time.
Barefooted. A few weeks ago. Fishing local river.
Tiger snake swims from other side straight towards me.
Stops on the bank right in front of me.
We eye each other for a good 10 minutes.
It then settles in front of my rods.
30 minutes later it decides to swim back home.
Haha what an uplifting experience. I love snakes, provided I see them before I step on them. When they're under my foot it's a "near heaven" experience. LOL 😂
Looks good for ducks 😅
My partner and I found a little spot between Wangaratta and Eldorado on the way home from going to see the dredge and caught 25 odd carp between 47-63cm
WOW that's unreal, well done.
@robbiefishing we were sight casting them, got a few cool little videos of them eating the worms! Wouldn't mind getting back there to get a few more out of the creek!
update on my journey for my first cod i got it an absolute beautiful 66cm murray cod
WOW that's sensational, well done mate, what a ripper. 👍👍
@@robbiefishing Thanks
bare feet feels more comfortable than shoes I do agree with you on that.
Chairs need to be closer to the rods?
At 35 degrees sitting in the shade is more important than ensuring I hook the carp.
Well make time ya need 200 crap fish😂 it is good for Aussie natives.
Good evening brother please tell me location send me location map for favourite carb fishing spot. In benalla Please
Hi mate, I was in a Lagoon on the Ovens River. 👍👍
Ripping off my euphemisms Robby?
