You don't need to be a college student to need this car. You can be anyone needing a good car. My Mirage has 100,000 miles. Nothing has broke. I am 60.
My Mirage is a 99, it has 237K miles and counting, runs great and has treated me well. In return, I keep it strictly maintained. Life without car payments is wonderful.
I had a Mirage for 10 years. Sold it last month. I had ZERO problems with it. Other then changing the battery after 8 years, nothing else. The car is super reliable, super economic, and honestly the engine noise is nowhere near as loud as people on YT describe it. This car takes you from A to B without wasting your money.
I just bought a 2024 SE hatch last week, pearl white. It looks a LOT better than this one, it came with 14 inch alloy rims and packed with a ton of features, its even got mud flaps. I got it for MSRP of $18,665.00, but it comes fully loaded. The “pro” critics reviews of these are pure bull… The engine is more than quick enough and capable for city and highway use, it is comfortable, the interior trim is NOT as terrible as they put it. It is the perfect commuter car and grocery getter. It gets constant 40+ MPG, the engine is ridiculously simple to service and maintain, and the reliability is impressive. It is a shame that America didn’t get it with this category of cars… But you know, gotta get that V8 Tundra to go get some bread and milk at the corner 7eleven by yourself 😜
I have a gray 2024 SE as a second car, and I love it more than I’ll admit to my friends. I appreciate how simple it is and what it can do with only 78 horsepower. It made me rethink what you really need in car. Jumping over to pickup trucks, I wish we got the Toyota Hilux Champ in the US. Most pickups are too expensive and complicated these days.
From 2014 to 2024 the Mirage had a good run.Good and bad.I had 2 of them.Totalled my G4 I will miss them both These cars are good for what is needed. Get to from point A to B.Dude that is not a Mercedes. Its a Mirage!
For shorter trip driving I'll agree. We bought the sedan. Big improvement on the monthly gasoline budget. They are not quite the penalty box everyone let on as. AC, cruise, power windows, etc. all the basics.
Reviews like these always amaze me. This cars purpose is to get to and from, it doesn’t need quick acceleration, fancy upgraded crap etc… these cars have practically no maintenance, amazing gas mileage amongst other things. Mirage owners are very satisfied with these cars as it’s the whole point of buying one. I own a 2019 hatchback that still has very low mileage, just 18k and have had no issues with it driving on the freeway, in the city etc… I wish Mitsubishi wasn’t discontinuing the Mirage after 2024. Dealers are obsessed with crossovers and SUVs now and these great little cars are sadly going to be obsolete future wise. If you’re on the fence, definitely go take a test drive but also if you’re looking for speed and lots of features this car isn’t going to be for you. If however, you’re looking for great gas mileage- I usually average between 45-50mpg and don’t need all the bells and whistles but just a great reliable car, then the mirage may be for you!
I owned one for 4 years. I have mixed feelings about it. All of his complaints are valid if you've ever owned anything nicer. However, I found it comfortable and I liked the soft ride. The wobbly handling and weak brakes are another story. I love the sound of that 3cyl. I just wish the car had more sound insulation, an additional 25hp, and vastly better crash test ratings.
i have one of these on order, in Canada, they increased their content with standard 15" Wheels, front heated seats and a bunch more, we got it in the same color as your test mule too! This will be my 2nd Mirage, absolutely love the car for what it is! do I need more power? no thanks, better handling? nope, its fine the way it is, improve it in any way? no way man! it's a entry-level commuter car that does what it intends and does it very well, the only thing that sucks is that from what I hear, 2025 will be its swan song!
im getting mine sometime next week as my first car. im beyond excited for it, and similarly to you, i dont care about the handling, power, etc. it gets me from a to b woth great fuel efficiency and reliability, and thats all i need
@@xoanone I love mine, but back in the last I drive a '67 Beetle with whopping 53 go. Just need to get used to these lower-power cars. Granted, my Bug had opt-out cylinders and two-week carb, so it was actually quite good at acceleration. No problems passing or merging with the Mirage.
I see nothing wrong with the Mirage. Some of us understand that the displacement is lacking power which that's not the purpose it's for gas mileage. This vehicle would do good with Nissans 1.6 L. If I own this vehicle I would be completely happy with it. I really wish they wouldn't discontinue The Mirage.
It comes to a point where it can be dangerously slow. Some on ramps in USA, you need decent accelerate to merge safely. Versa is safer in that regardless, which is something I'll gladly take in place of better fuel economy.
@@swiiishgin1515 hey, if there's a turbo kit, if buy it and the car. But I doubt such a thing exists. And scratch turbo builds isn't something you just do. You need to ecu tune as well, and I'm not sure if Mitsubishi locked the ecu.
although some countries really go for 'power' over savings, to each their own. Here in the Phils where we make those they are selling like hotcakes. Traffic is bad here so why go fast anyway? the good thing with this car its simple, basic, brings you anywhere you want to go. better than taking the bus :)
There are a lot of people that just need a car and have no real interest in fanciness. They want a vehicle that will get them to and fro reliably. I see nothing wrong with the car despite the sniping and snide comments. It’s what it’s supposed to be. I drive a lot and I recently had to buy a new car. I wanted to look at this one, but there’s no dealership within 50 miles. I had a versa once and it served its purpose, but it had a significant mechanical failure well before I would’ve expected it to.
Thaaank you for your extensive revuiew! I will collect my Mirage tomorrow, and had 'a lill chuckle' when you said this car is maybe for the college=kid, yeheee I felt 50 years younger ! I need it for doing my grocery and visiting friends and family not far away, I'm 74 ; ))
I love the Mirage. People in the car community call it the worst new car but then also wax philosophical about how much they wish they still made barebones, no-BS Japanese cars. If only they knew they still do make such a car, and that car is called the Mitsubishi Mirage…
That’s probably why I love it so much. It’s a brand new car that’s up to date in efficiency and technology but it’s also just a car. No fancy unnecessary features.
We as a nation have become Such Whining Little Brats! Back in the 80s, in my Teens, this would have been a Loaded Little Car with obvious things that were'nt even available back then! I've had more Posh cars but I definately appreciate Back To Basics cars and this seems like a Great Deal from all I've heard and read! We don't need cars that are so fast that Everybody drives like a Psycho! We need to go back to simple and stop believing the Lie that we need Loaded Cars with Nascar Engines to live our Best Lives!
We have a 2017 Mirage for a regular car. It has about 60,000 miles with no issues other than normal maintenence. If I am careful driving I can get 52 mpg. Plenty of power for me, only one speeding ticket so far.
I LOVE the simplicity and pragmatic nature of this car. I owned one for 4 years. It reminds me of 1980s Japanese economy cars. It took getting used to because it's so weak on power, noisy, and seems to have the steering and suspension out of a 1970s American land yacht. However, it's comfortable for my 5'7" frame, has great ergonomics, can hold a surprising amount with the rear seat folded including my full-frame bicycle, has a fantastic auto climate system, a comfortable ride, and gets 40-46mpg driving around the city and suburbs. Plus, they offer it in some fun colors, unlike most cars nowadays. The only concerns are safety and the price, which jumped up a lot after the pandemic when Mitsubishi dropped the huge manufacturer rebates. Mine was totally worth the $13k I paid fully loaded. The same car now for $20k? Nah. I'm good, thanks. The Versa or even a base Hyundai Venue are better choices at that price.
This car is so much fun to drive. You can whip it around like a go cart. Get the SE if you buy one. It has so many more features than the base model. I don't know why everyone reviews the base model. Add K&N filters and consider a chip. It really is a blast. Takes you back to the 90's. Great second car or primary car if your budget is tight.
The Versa may be faster, but it is a lemon compared to the Mirage. And no, I wouldn't be fine paying an extra thousand for a more digital gauge. The point is savings and reliability, not cool technology.
How awful is it that the crooks who run the car companies are getting rid of affordable cars? I, for one, hate crossovers and SUV's. Also, I'm not fond of the overpriced junk they sell that requires six and seven-year loans.
So are airline companies, Amazon, gas companies, solar panel companies (PPAs, tax credits, double charges etc), lobbyists, etc. Mitsubishi Mirages, Kia Rio they are all overpriced for being a basic car. People say they are cheap but I don't call $19-20K cheap for a tin can with some goodies in it, but it is what it is these days with inflation.
Really wished Mitsubishi offered a stronger engine like a 1.3/1.4/1.5 4 cylinder with about 90-100 HP and slightly less MPG giving the customer the option to choose between two engine sizes
My daily driver is a 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage DE coupe, manual, 92 horsepower, four cylinder port injected engine, with 237k miles, and still going strong.
I have 2 Mirage g4 (Attrage here in Israel)2020. They are with automatic lights and wipers, touchscreen, emergency braking etc...all the goodies. And the cars are great! Cheap to own and maintain, roomy and comfortable, strong automatic climate control, very reliable and easy to drive and park. Engine is pretty weak, but once it gets up to speed, you can do 75mph at highway without any problem.
Mitsubishi is also part of the broader Renault-Nissan alliance. This car is so similar to a Dacia Sandero; a successful budget car sold in Europe and elsewhere in the world..
I got the 2024 Mirage, got the ES in yellow, and really like it. I went from a 2004 Cadillac Deville. I find the Mirage more comfortable, the seats are softer. It's also a smaller car, sort of go-kart like, which I really like. I like the car so much I've put 21,000 miles on it in 7 months just driving around for fun. Only really needed to put 2,000 miles on it, rest was for fun. The car is a bit loud on rough roads, might add some sound insulation around the wheel wells. But I like the engine. It has plenty of power for me, I tend to drive in the mountains, and on the interstate. Very little city driving. Taken it up to Onyx Summit, elevation 8,500 feet, at max capacity, well, over. I had 780 LB in it, the max rated is 820. But due to elevation the max was about 700. Either way, car was very slow at the top, 0-60 was about 40 seconds. But for me it had plenty of power, but you really could notice it unhappy at the top. Also with the seats folded, it has a ton of room inside. I haul financer, lawn mowers, flooring, lots of stuff.
I must add, I've never taken it across the country. Instead I took my moms Ford Maverick.. Not by choice though. She won't ride in the Mirage. I wish I took it though, the Mirage is more engaging, and uses less fuel, and is weirdly more comfortable.
I have this model. Just over 18k out the door. 10 year, 200k mile warranty. It will still be under warranty when it's finally paid off. Low monthly payments. Good everyday driver. No it does not have a center console, no it does not have any peal out power. Yes , it's reliable and good on gas. If you need something that's gonna be reliable and last forever, with low maitenance cost, then this is a really awesome car. I love mine. Everyone knocks these cause they're not racers but they're not meant to be that.
As little as i like the Mirage, as little as i've always liked the Mirage for being such a downer of a car, uninspired, boring, same interior for 10 years by now... The worse the car industry gets, the more i respect Mitsubishi for soldering on in giving America cheap new transporation with warranty, to let the people who need it not worry. Doug DeMuro was wrong about the Mirage. It is a dreadfully boring car, but for some, it's the only option.
For those paying attention, traffic has gotten so bad you are stupid if you are worried about getting up to 60 MPH. I own TWO Mirages!!! I have gotten up to 69.5 MPG in 2017 !!! I took a pic of the display !! I have a 2018 too that I have gotten 60 MPG. So, ha on you... I love going 500 miles between fill ups !!! I've owned Lincolns in the past, big deal .. 16 MPG.... This guy is a spoiled little joke boy.... these are where the jokes are aimed.. Noise ?? SHUT UP AND GET OUT!!! YOU'RE WALKING !!!
I think these are great little cars. The only negative that I see is the CVT transmission because it is a JATCO unit and they are not very well-built. However, one of these cars with a 5-speed manual transmission fits the bill perfectly. Sadly, driving a manual transmission is kind of a lost art these days.
@@curbozerboomer1773 This saddens me. Especially since I know that it's available everywhere else in the world. It's not exactly the same but similar to how the Nissan Versa is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission in the base trim. They don't give you the option of buying a higher-spec version with anything other than the cvt.
It’s good if you’re a small person with no family to haul around. My mom had one and loves it. However I have driven it. My foot hurts from the angle it is pushing the gas pedal and it’s very uncomfortable to drive. Can’t argue against the gas mileage. She gets 4.4 litres per hundred km. Don’t know any other gas car that does better
8:45 its missing a plastic trim on the rear below the cloth cover. maybe because it the ultimate base model but it has plastic trims/floors on each side.
You are correct in saying theMirage is being discontinued soon. We lost the sedan 5 years ago in Australia with the hatch being discontinued last year. Sales were always slow but that is due to it really was sold I city locations due to country use for going to the shops is sometimes a 100km drive. They are a great little car though. In saying this SUV sales now kill any sedan sales from all manufacturers in the country. Hyundai, Kia, Toyota and Chinese junk are the only sedans available in Australia now. I miss the Mitsubishi Lancer of which I currently have 3 and will not be updating any of them to a SUV or EV car.
Bro WTF?! Are you reviewing that Car??? Or Criticizing it for being outdated???? In the times like this! Where inflation is utterly out of control!! Who cares about the Quality but outdated Car for 2024?! Who cares?! The Majority of People living in America right now doesn't make a Six Figure Income! So who cares IF the dashboard of that Mitsubishi Mirage is 90's or Microsoft 99 of outdated!!! As long as it is brand new for its Pricetag!!! Actually $18,000 is a bit pricey! Mitsubishi should sell that car for $12,000! So people can afford it instead of buying a $24,000 used Car with 80,000 miles!!! I would say that Mitsubishi Mirage is the most Cheapest Car that American People can afford at this time! Out of Control Inflation, High Insurance Costs!, Skyrocket Mortgage payments up! Medicare costs, Rent!!!! Gasoline Price!!! And the friggin Groceries are too damn expensive nowadays!!! So who can still afford a $24,000 car?? If Mitsubishi can sell that car for less brand new!!! And that car consumes only a little gas?? 39mpg (Non Hybrid) it's just a Naturally Aspirated 3 Cylinder Engine?? Why not??? Whatever uneducated car reviewers says about that car, I love mine!!
I would guess, that a guy could find a one or two year old Mirage for 10-12 grand...These cars, despite their cheapness, have turned out to be reliable. A UA-cam mech has torn apart a 3cyl engine used for 300,000 miles, and noticed that the engine was still in relatively good shape! When I was a young guy in the late 1960s, many friends of mine-and me--drove older VW Bugs, and did not mind putting up with the lack of acceleration...back then, 25-30mpg was a good deal! You get what you pay for, and for the money, this car is a relative bargain...and it has AirCon? Amazing, for the money. However, for a couple grand more, the Versa sounds more civilized.
I've heard it was good to begin with. It doesn't need to be finally better. UA-camrs do the same headline about the Nissan Kicks. They also ask: Is it finally better? It was fine to begin with if you want good gas mileage. Same for the Mirage. Not everyone wants to go from 0-60 in six seconds. Some of us want to save on gas.
Luckly where I live (italy) is still available but many cars of this segment are rapidly disappearing from the market. best quality for price ratio in this crazy new brand car market.
In indonesia and malaysia theres some cheap new car like this but in manual no radio no ac Called axia E (for malaysia market) Daihatsu Ayla D (for indonesia market) Only $5000
In canada it's still going to be 21k ish after taxes to have a base model, anything else is 30k, a versa is around 25k. CVT Transmissions are not known to be the most reliable and are expensive to repair. A Quality Sedan like a Mazda 3 or Nissan Sentra/Hyundai Elantra either way will put you 27-31k after taxes and a garbage interest rate won't likely go below 6% less you can pay it off in under 4 years. The price of one of these mirages will get you a low or normal mileage 5-10 year old car with little to know warranty and an interest rate and shorter term loan that will probably still cost you the same if not more then either a versa or mirage. The market is such a joke. These were 10k new once, and not much has changed aside from a few standard features, including some mandatory like a rear backup camera. But i suppose if you don't want to take the risk of buying something significantly older and higher mileage and have it inspected then well you can have a mirage for 300$ a month and pretty good warranty.
I just took one of these babies home 220 miles, no complaints besides my gas tank runs out. I did 110mph no problem. Turning on the engine sounds BAD though lol sounds so weak
@waheeb_m 😂 omg it wouldn't get on the freeways here in CALIFORNIA SoCal lol. I went to Cerritos and drove a 2024. The guy was like what you drive now. My 14 Plum Crazy purple Challenger R/T Classic I bought new and get 13 mpg. The gas was almost 7 dollars a gallon last summer here. I'm thinking of this thing. I know they wanted my Challenger. I was like no trade its been paid off years ago and I have 40k miles on it.
@@thomasthurston6656 yea it's the cross wind that it struggles with. If you are used to a powerful vehicle, this thing will piss you off lol. But i get 44 mpg without trying so there's that.
@waheeb_m Yeah, I have always had a big car or truck. We don't get much wind in SoCal, but it needs to be able to do 80 to 90 on the freeways. So far, it's the Mirage Soul and Venue. I didn't drive a Soul yet. They also have a 10 year 100k mile warranty. Who knows if I would keep it 10 years.
You do like to harp on how little the power is of these cars, I bought a '23 Mirage se last year, and reading up on the Mirage forum pages they have here you can pick up alot of points on how to make due with these cars; in fact you didnt even mention the S drive for the automatic, if you take the automatic shifter and put it into drive, then push it to the right, you'll be in Sport mode, which allows the valves to open higher for more fuel at the higher revs when merging onto a freeway, Ive done it many times a day, and the sport option, if you leave it topped out at 4,000 rpm you will have all the acceleration you need, and once you are at the speed you need to be at, just push the transmission shifter over to the left again for economy driving. Now that you know how to properly drive one of these, everything else about them you did capture right, they are easy to work on, have a 100,000 mi/10 yr warranty, have a great reputation for being reliable and trustworthy cars to own.
These cars ARE NOT FREEWAY CRUISERS At 60 mph you will get run over by everyone do 75 80. Even Semi trucks will be going around you. You would be much better off getting a Nisan Versa, it has a 4 cylinder engine, it's bigger, nicer, still has good mpg and enough get up and go to get out of it's own way. Test drive the Versa before you buy this. It's not designed for long freeway trips.
You forgot to mention that the engine doesn’t blow up like its competitors . The basic trim level and basic features are what people want who buys this car . A very biased review
The worst part about the hatch model is how close the rear seat is to the rear of the car. If you get hit from behind, those rear passengers will probably be toast. For that reason, I prefer the G4 sedan model.
Nissan killed the versa too, Sentra will be the cheapest car. Mitsubishi might consider keeping it past 2025. Cant beat the 5 year bumper to bumper and 100,000 mile power train warranty
At $16,000 and above it’s definitely not a good CHEAP car. A cheap car for lower income levels folks shouldn’t cost more than $10k. Btw, like the way you completely trashed talked your way about the car’s performance, built quality, looks . 😂😂😂
@@curbozerboomer1773uh? You were alive in 2020? These were always discounted under $11,000. From 2014-2020 these were $4000 off MSRP. They raised the price, and stopped the discounts. Just buy a better new car for slightly more, these no longer are cheap.
$16,000 is too expemcive for the disposable CVT transmission, and 3 cylinder. For $23,000 2024 Subaru Impreza has 2.2L AWD manual transmission 4 disk brakes.. This looks like a $8,000 car.
@@abcde29204 Manual is cheaper than the automatic Impreza. Manual is $23,000 and automatic is $25,000. The average person isn't poor either. The purpose of buying these cars is to save money. Besides if you can't drive a manual you can't drive. All cars use to manuals, and single women had to hire male drivers. Go watch Driving Ms Daisy. Mirage will also be discontinued after 2024 and so will the parts. The Mirage was a good car for $8,999 but $18,000 for the same car is a joke.
well.. if you are doing short drives like 15-20 minutes, just bare with it... but if you re on a long haul drive then well.. there are some used cars out there on the market. Though i'm surprised this has Apple car play, the Versa S doesn't have it and it's more.
That's where the deal on the new mirage falls apart. Then you find the used ones. Low miles, 3 years old, under $7k. If you find a used Honda or Toyota for that its really old and/or high mileage.
Cheapest new Versa is 23k. Cheapest is 17k. You need to pay 35% more to get the Versa. That 6k could mean a lot for some people. At least this vehicle is reliable, has some modern creature comforts (A/C, android auto and carplay), and gets you from A to B. Winter tires would likely be cheaper too.
Does it have airbags all around? I would worry about getting hit hard, by most any other vehicle. This car is cute...but the more you showed us, the more I was thinking about a Nissan Versa...a couple thousand more might be worth the improvements?
Been driving this car for 2 weeks now. Compare to my other cars including a Corolla (LE), a Camry (XSE) and an Elantra, no car on this list is perfect. I heard a lot of people said just get a Corolla. Well, there're things that I like and dislike in both cars. For example, I went to a very high traffic area yesterday and need to pararell park but the space was super tight. Luckily I drove this car so parking was no problem. Once I got out of the car I realized there's so much space left on the side too so I don't have to worry that my car will get in a way of the on going traffic. This car has enough power to go into high traffic area without problem. Another thing I love about the Mirage is the connection to my phone. Even though it only has one USB port (and not even a USB-C at that), charging my phone was almost as fast as the Elantra. Android Auto connected thru cable was smoother than in any other car. Definitely smoother than the Corolla (Toyota's connection has never worked well for me, usually, I can't even play music with Android Auto and has to connect via Bluetooth instead). Sure, the space inside the Mirage is nothing to write home about but it has everything "essential" for a compact. The back camera is also a light year clearer than the one I have on my Corolla. The car hardly have any driving assist of any kind except for the front censor which I still don't know how it works because I've never heard of the warning or braking like in my other cars. However, this is a perfect car for city driving. No fancy stuff like heating seats (which my spouse really loves in our Camry) or anything like that but the A/C works great. For the price, can't complain.
No. Just overpriced, now. This same car was discounted for $10,000 in 2019! At DOUBLE it makes slightly more sense to get a Corolla, or discounted Sentra S for less $$.
My comment exactly. I remember Mitsubishi advertising these at $9,999 in 2018-2019. Should be a super important life lesson for people. Do not vote for socialists who are okay with flooding the economy with "free" money. That's the cause of all this inflation. Luckily, it's all starting to crash as we speak. Most automakers are piled up and nobody's buying anything at these prices anymore, which will lead to rapid deflation.
@ that happened to keep us from crashing in a capitalist society. The increases at this point mostly based on gouging people. Products are no longer lacking computer chips. You’ll see after the pandemic the inflation was only up to 4%, then it dropped dramatically to 2%. However, all these corporations did not decrease prices. They could. But they also went higher than actual inflation because they could blame inflation. There was a double down of record profits as a result and huge tax cuts during the Trump administration to the wealthiest corporations. They all got Richer off our Backs.
I was given a mirage for my rental. It does what it needs to I guess but I’m very used to my 2022 Corolla LE all the features and it obviously has better get up and go power. I'm driving a 90s Honda and the Mirage reminds me of it. I'm hoping someday the Mirage come back as an EV. I'd like a small basic car but want a pure EV for running around town.
Rear drum breaks are just fine for a scoot-around-town car. Sports cars “need” rear discs because they dissipate heat faster, but drums are cheaper and require WAY less maintenance.
Drum brakes = lower long-term maintenance costs. The pads last twice as long and there are no warped discs to replace. Disc brakes = stronger braking performance, resulting in shorter stopping distance.

You can always buy rims. Lol, why bother.
You are 100% correct. Americans are so dumb while in Europe and Asia these cars are extremely popular.
Great little car. I bought one to use as a commuter car. Has been very reliable and economical. The SE has more features and style.
Great for Ubereats!
From 2014 to 2024 the Mirage had a good run.Good and bad.I had 2 of them.Totalled my G4 I will miss them both These cars are good for what is needed. Get to from point A to B.Dude that is not a Mercedes. Its a Mirage!
I just bought one last month and loving it. Perfect car for small trips which is all I do! I think I am going to like it!
How long did your first mirage last?
@@xoanone I love mine, but back in the last I drive a '67 Beetle with whopping 53 go. Just need to get used to these lower-power cars.
Granted, my Bug had opt-out cylinders and two-week carb, so it was actually quite good at acceleration.
No problems passing or merging with the Mirage.
agree
Did u get it yet?
10:29 correction, its beautiful, and no id prefer it over digital display. And fuck paying 1000 more for it
I see nothing wrong with the Mirage.
@@2010ngojo im sure somebody will figure out how to slap a turbo on it without ruining it and they will be fun
@@swiiishgin1515 hey, if there's a turbo kit, if buy it and the car. But I doubt such a thing exists. And scratch turbo builds isn't something you just do. You need to ecu tune as well, and I'm not sure if Mitsubishi locked the ecu.
Mitsubishi continues to impress me with their exceptional cars, which unfortunately they often choose to discontinue despite their popularity.
although some countries really go for 'power' over savings, to each their own.
I am NOT willing to pay 1000$ more dollars just to make a digital display
I'm glad its been so good to you, but how did you manage to get a speeding ticket in that?
30 in a 25 zone? lol
@@w.d.gaster1550 I took this car home at 110mph, it can go lol
Exactly!
They are both owned by Nissan..
@@windanthonystream That explains a lot! lol
Bought my 2018 mirage brand new for 9000 USD in 2019 has been flawless all this time and still has plenty of warranty left
In Thailand it is under $12K now. I just bought one 😊
Mirage is the best economy car and to people who only wants the basics.
How awful is it that the crooks who run the car companies are getting rid of affordable cars? I, for one, hate crossovers and SUV's. Also, I'm not fond of the overpriced junk they sell that requires six and seven-year loans.
I wholeheartedly agree with you! Car companies are too greedy nowadays!
Or a turbo
@@islami658 turbo is dumb...it will strain and damage the engine.
@@duckling4393 the crappy 3 cylinder they put in there is good for 300hp, its way overbuilt (strength wise)
Bigger engine less space to work on in that small hood, slap a turbo trim all wheel drive manual.
Why, just buy a different brand and get a better car
I really appreciate your multiple reviews on the Mirage. Thank you!
thanks! glad you find them useful.
Mitsubishi is also part of the broader Renault-Nissan alliance. This car is so similar to a Dacia Sandero; a successful budget car sold in Europe and elsewhere in the world..
Yes, they should bring that car to N America as a replacement.
Looks like a very nice minimalist car!
Discontinuing this so they can focus on SUVs? Jeez Louise. Never mind the Mirage, the world isn't gonna last much longer...
Why won't she ride on the Mirage?
@@oscargonzalez5231 she is afraid of it because it's small she won't even take it around town let alone at speed
Glad to meet another Mirage aficionado! Take care of your yellow Pikachu and it will last you the rest of your life
I have this model.
I wish Mitsubishi kept the 5 speed stick in NA.
The Ralliart version screams 5speed... its too bad.
16 MPG.... This car isn’t designed to be ‘inspiring’ and ‘fun’ 🤡
I might consider it for urban use if had a manual trans to make better use of the very limited power output, as I'm not a fan of cvt transmissions.
there's something appealing about cheap hubcaps
Honestly, it a perfect, short distance commuter car. It may not be a good highway car, but good city car or short distance car.
In Canada this vehicle makes 100% more sense to me than any $60,000.00 EV I know of.
Any vehicle makes more sense then EV
The Versa isn't as reliable either.
These were cancelled in Australia not long ago. It was no longer going to comply with side impact standards, and mitsubishi wouldnt pay to update it.
I think these are great little cars. The only negative that I see is the CVT transmission because it is a JATCO unit and they are not very well-built. However, one of these cars with a 5-speed manual transmission fits the bill perfectly. Sadly, driving a manual transmission is kind of a lost art these days.
Not available in 2024!...Stuck with that questionable CVT transmission.
The more stuff on a car has the more stuff they is to break simple is better even manual roll up doors are better
Car of my 20s! Cheap, cute, and easy to park👌🏼
If you need to sum up this vehicle in single word - the HONEST.
For the extra $1,000, I would rather get another cylinder.
@TheRealCatof no it's not 2%! Stop watching fake news Media
IF The Inflation is only 2% then why the entire America is struggling everyday to live?
I've heard it was good to begin with. It doesn't need to be finally better. UA-camrs do the same headline about the Nissan Kicks. They also ask: Is it finally better? It was fine to begin with if you want good gas mileage. Same for the Mirage. Not everyone wants to go from 0-60 in six seconds. Some of us want to save on gas.
I want to safely merge into highway traffic. The mirage is nearly dangerously slow for that kind of thing.
good enthusiastic presentation-ty
GEICO app tracks my drive and has been complaining about sudden acceleration and tight turns in this thing.
It might be $17k new but you can get late model used ones, possibly with warranty, for $12k - $13k.
Still too high. New these were $10,000 barely 4 years ago. Brand New!! 17 grand is crazy talk. Get a Corolla or Sentra. I could see $7500 Used. Maybe.
It's called the Mirage b/c I can't believe what I'm seeing.
Luckly where I live (italy) is still available but many cars of this segment are rapidly disappearing from the market. best quality for price ratio in this crazy new brand car market.
Nice work on that rear seat belt😃
The Nissan Versa is 1,000x better. But I hope the Mitsubishi sells. We need more small, affordable cars. $80,000 pickup trucks suck.
I bet Nissan Versa is better, but Mitsubishi Mirage starts at several $1000s lower. So different market.
Nissan just announced they are shutting the versa down after the 2025 model year.
The only whining noise I'm hearing is from the annoying reviewer.

Does it come with black socks?
I just took one of these babies home 220 miles, no complaints besides my gas tank runs out. I did 110mph no problem.
Turning on the engine sounds BAD though lol sounds so weak

Good bang for your buck you don't need fancy electronics it accomplish it's purpose taking you A to B
I bought my daughter this car for Medical School Miami. From Key West Florida. USA.
I'm considering buying this car to do highway driving at 60 MPH long distances.
These cars ARE NOT FREEWAY CRUISERS
At 60 mph you will get run over by everyone do 75 80.
Imagine with 3 more people in it. About 400 more pounds...

You forgot to mention that the engine doesn’t blow up like its competitors .
The basic trim level and basic features are what people want who buys this car .

Looks ok from the front, "that's what I told her."
The worst part about the hatch model is how close the rear seat is to the rear of the car. If you get hit from behind, those rear passengers will probably be toast. For that reason, I prefer the G4 sedan model.
Yep, they're the first ones at the accident scene! 😉

Corolla is also double from 2019 lol what are you talking about
@ huh? It’s NOT 40 grand! The Corolla was $17,500 in L form, the Mirage was $13,300 but commonly discounted at $10,000.
Dont forget to mention RISE,Mitsubishi exclusive
Perfect for rideshare
Hyundai venue, mazda 2 or mirage ?
Mazda 2, but it's more expensive. If you can even find one. They are no longer sold in North America.
Love my Venue...but it's $5-6000 more money (I have the Limited model)...
I was given a mirage for my rental. It does what it needs to I guess but I’m very used to my 2022 Corolla LE all the features and it obviously has better get up and go power. The mirage isn’t bad I would say little annoying little loud little ugly looking but it’s gotten me to point a to point b and I’m stuck with it for at least 3 1/2- 4 weeks
Before anyone comes at me I’m a die hard Toyota fan. If it’s not Toyota I’m utterly weary
@@rachelelizabeth346 Weary or wary?
@@bobjohnson205 wary sorry!
@@bobjohnson205 but starting today I’ve started getting used to how the car goes and runs so it’s Okay and since me and this rental are gonna be together till the 14th of august
@@rachelelizabeth346 Now I'm weary! lol
The slab of rear seats look like Mitsubishi found some ex-Soviet car seats and installed them.😂😂😂
Too expensive for this price
I'm driving a 90s Honda and the Mirage reminds me of it. I'm hoping someday the Mirage come back as an EV. I'd like a small basic car but want a pure EV for running around town.
Toyota Tacoma has drum... Lots of manufactures still make drums in the rear.
Rear drum breaks are just fine for a scoot-around-town car. Sports cars “need” rear discs because they dissipate heat faster, but drums are cheaper and require WAY less maintenance.
Or if you live where it's all hills. Doesn't matter as much if you live where everything is flat.
Drum brakes = lower long-term maintenance costs. The pads last twice as long and there are no warped discs to replace.
Disc brakes = stronger braking performance, resulting in shorter stopping distance.
The Versa also has drum brakes
If it was $10k brand new I think it would be a reasonable buy
