Mitsubishi Mirage 2 year ownership review and Q&A

  • Personal experience and review of my 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage ES after 2 years of ownership in Canada's capital (Ottawa, Ontario)
Purchased in November 2021 from Rallye Mitsubishi in Gatineau QC.
I compiled a list of questions asked in my previous videos, and answered them to the best of my ability.
This car jas been a joy to own and drive. I'm at a stage in my life where going fast isn't important anymore. I've been driving for over 40 years, and have owned a variety of cars from big, small, truck, sedan, convertible, turbo charged, and supercharged.
Been there, done that. The common denominator has always been an empty bank account because of maintenance and repairs.
Low operating costs, and trouble free ownership are priorities now.
This car is perfect for that!
Shout out to ‪@Motormouth...‬ for inspiring me to do this review. The automotive landscape needs more exposure to cars that everyone can afford.

Mine is a 2018 Mirage SE CVT with 157,000 miles (US). Plenty of power from the 3 cylinder and the excellent CVT keeps the revs low at higher speeds 75-80 mph! Really keeps the noise down. And the big surprise is those small tires really cut through the snow as long as you don't do anything stupid!!!😀

I am getting a lot of UA-cam recommendations for these Mitsubishi Mirage owner videos. It's really cool to see how many people buy these and just absolutely love them. There is a lot of value in an efficient and affordable car, and sadly this is basically the last one you can get in America anymore.

Its already heavily modified but still runs a good 14L/100km city and 20L/100km highway.

I do like this car. The driver's seat is high and comfortable. The dealership was rude and very unprofessional, so I did not buy one. Great presentation. Thanks for sharing this on UA-cam.

Buying a car is a logical decision not an emotional one. Even if you dont like the dealership, if you like the product and the price is good, you can still buy it.

I retired our 22 years old Dodge van and was planning on buying a small economy hatchback for city driving and the reasonably priced 2024 Mirage was just perfect for me.
My wife, however, found the Mirage too small so we ended up getting a 2024 Honda HRV which was a little bigger and taller but way more expensive. i still like the Mirage.

My wife's 2020 Mirage G4 just passed 45k miles last week. We got it new after her 2005 Chevy Malibu with over 200k miles got totaled and we needed a car fast. Haven't had any major issues yet and its gone across America several times and survived some pretty nasty potholes. Only weirdness so far is the tire pressure sensors activate when it gets cold out but now they're turning on randomly so we're going to have the dealer check it out when we bring it in for servicing next week. I'm honestly tempted to buy a hatchback version for myself since they can be had used in my area for less than $6k.

Mitsubishi makes ok quality cars that are affordable. As long as you take care of the maintenance it should last you a long time. I grew up in PR and this cars were everywhere and affordable. I currently own a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander with 147k miles. Engine oil every 6k miles and it still running strong 💪

I got a 2024 Mirage ES with the CVT, I really enjoy it. I put 10,700 miles, or 17,000 KM on it since September 27th, 2023. I mostly do freeway driving, I merge on the freeway with about 2,500 RPM, gets me to about 50 MPH (80 KPH) at the end of the onramps, good enough. I set cruise to 55, or 60 MPH, or about 90-95 KPH, and just do that. It sits about 1,900 RPM at those speeds. Overall, the car has been amazing.
Being a slower driver, I have averaged 49.7 US MPG, or 4.7L/100KM. Or 59.7 MPG Imperial. Either way, it's been amazing. Would get the car again. Have no plans on getting a different car, it's perfect for me. I want it to reach 500,000 miles.

    • @extralock1045
      @extralock1045 4 місяці тому +1

@@donc6781 It depends on traffic flow. If there is dense traffic, it gets a bit alarming. But when only like 5-7 people pass me in a minute, that's not as alarming.
I stay to the far right. I like when I go out to the more rural areas, sure, people drive faster, but far less people. So when they pass, it might be 30 MPH faster than me, but only 1 or 2 cars every few minutes.

Thank you. I feel much better about selecting the Mirage ES. My '13 Outlander Sport ES kept stalling on me at intersections and it was very close to 176,000. I was told it isn't worth it at this point to change the CAT and to fix the transmission. So I have the sapphire blue Mirage and got it used with only 3,800 miles. Only need it for work mostly. I hope over time since I live in the mountains that the hills aren't problematic. I know 160 miles/day, 4 days/week is a lot lol.
