So what do you reward her with? She's finding, stopping and holding them, but what's her positive association if you're not shooting something for her to retrieve?
Honestly, the flush and finding the birds, the gunshot (anytime she hears gunfire or similar even out of season she gets so excited and looks around like where the birds), and don't underestimate good praise from the handler. She's well seasoned and understands the full context of what we're doing, having said that we don't do this all the time and I'd never use this approach for a starting dog
