The Romans 100% could and did have naval battles in the colloseum in real life, they had the aqueduct/pipe system to do so, they just didn't have sharks, they would have used Nile Crocodiles and Nile Hippopotamus instead...but it was 100% real.
@@ghstletter5978 so? That is supposed to make it good? Please explain. It makes no sense. His story in this was so badly contrived. Why would I be hurt, because I don't like the movie? 🤡😅
Everyone has the right to their opinion about the film, ofc. But where I feel some of you missed the boat was about Lucius’s character. You made the claim that he didn’t have the presence or draw of his father. And you are right-that’s the point. That’s actually part of the plot. He was a little squirly boy who was sent away to fend for himself, essentially. He never knew Maximus was his father. So you have a nuanced hero and protagonist-one that is still stepping into himself. I find that all the more compelling and what makes it unique and more intricate of a story. Yet, still has a beautiful thread through the first.
Saw it twice in the theater. Thought it was great-terrific action in the arena, pretty savage fighting with the baboons, impressive set pieces, colorful characters, and a good storyline. Mescal turned in a very different kind of performance from Crowe, and I thought it was perfect.
I think most people who were down on the movie were angry that a sequel was made without their permission. That tiresome phrase “a sequel nobody asked for” pretty much summarizes their hate.
WeII its simpIe, the movie isnt as impactful as the first, and the main protag has less charisma than Pedro IoI. FeeIs Iike Pedro couid be the main protag and the movie wouId be better. Even the Iast sequence of the movie was bad, it didnt makesense. Sure you can Iove the film, I mean favorite are subjective therefor you can Iove the fiIm if you did, If the movie is its own movie with different titIe peopIe couid accept it, but as a sequel to the first one weII dont act Iike its on the same prestige level as the first movie, its not even cIose.. thats why peopIe didnt Iike it. Hench why "sequel nobody asked for" because from the looks of final product, it is.
I hope we get their reaction to The Return of the King after this. I don't want to get left hanging. Thanks. Nonetheless, another great reaction. Keep it up! 👍
That means that Maximus cheated on his Shorty from the first movie. Honestly, I didn’t really like it. I mean, I feel like it undermine the whole family man aspect of Maximus in the first movie, getting revenge for his family. As someone who served overseas, I know like the nearest body of water for those sharks is like 2025 to 30 miles so you have to catch those sharks. Keep them alive and bring them back and make sure they can survive in the Colosseum, which is kind of weird for me. Besides that I feel like Denzel is what really saved this movie and many points especially since he’s retiring soon I feel a lot of people are getting onto him about his accent, but really man like if you think about it if he was a slave and he was older and he caught his way up for his freedom then he wouldn’t have adapted any aspects of his capture. Now if he was young when he came to Rome, it would be a different story. I can understand it if you were talking about an accident and he came wrong when he was young, but he was already a fully grown man so in those aspects, it probably wouldn’t have occurred
Jerry I’m holding you accountable to your takes now. 39:50- “it was crazy that Wellz said what he said, because there where aspects of the movie you really really liked?” Can you give what aspects and not just surface level takes. Cause you tend to “But” “I don’t agree with” “however like”
To put it plainly what Wellz was getting to: the movie lacks character depth and development. It’s what sets it apart from the first movie. And why I also thought it was just an OK film. Gladiator is a historical epic drama. Gladiator II is a popcorn film. It has the same character depth as a Fast Five movie. All spectacle and no fluff. But all of this is Ridley Scott’s fault because he’s writer/director so all those calls are his.
"This is about survival... so survive"....... 🤦♂️ such a badly written and contrived movie. Just unnecessary. If they can't add anything of value or make it better than before, but just take from it and make it worse, why do it at all? And why is that all they do now? :/

I'm so confused on why some people didn't like this. Neither movie is historically accurate, ancient war movies are the best
That just says a lot about you.. historical inaccuracy is one of it's least problems. It's just bad and cheap for mindless consumption.
@gingerbaker_toad696 Lucius (main character) is Maximus's son. But ok, We all have opinions😂

You guys need to react to Troy! One of the best ancient war movies out there
I´ve heard from documentaries they really did fill upp Colosseum with water and had shipbattles back then.
But them crashing into each other as hard as they did here is just crazy. How would they get enough speed and force for such ramming attacks in there?
@@gingerbaker_toad696 Yes, that is probably exaggerated for the effects in the film!
